Predatory, Unprofessional, and Abusive – DO NOT Rent from Enterprise
This is hands-down the worst experience I’ve ever had with any rental company — and possibly any business — period.
It started when Enterprise gave me a car with a dead battery and no gas. The vehicle stranded me multiple times, and I had to wait and rely on AAA to stay mobile. AAA even advised me to never shut off the engine, or it wouldn’t restart. Eventually, I was told to exchange the vehicle, and that’s when the situation truly spiraled out of control.
When I went to the Boca Raton branch to switch vehicles since the Delray (DelRage) Beach location was out of cars, I was screamed at by an employee named Scott, who aggressively claimed there were no vehicles available — despite my reservation and prior instructions. Not sure what his issue was with me but He spoke down to me like I was a child and berating me like if I was an idiot. The moment I mentioned I’d be contacting corporate for the abuse, Scott conveniently and magically waved a magic wand and returned with a car and said I wouldn’t be charged — but never gave me a receipt or any documentation. No copy of the vehicle contract or anything showing the exchange took place nor stating the rate changing in vehicle type.
Then incoming out of nowhere enters Ali, the area manager over the Boca and DelRage Beach locations who contacts me asking what had happened at the locations. Several phone calls I explained everything — more than once — and he promised to find a resolution. Yet, he provided nothing in writing, and it became clear those promises meant nothing. Nothing documented just vaporized empty promises with no evidence to support. Clearly nonexistent nonsense.
At the original Delray Beach (DelRage) branch, things just raged on and got even worse. Emily and Robert began lying to me and charging my card without authorization, often in the middle of the night — I received 3 AM notifications from my bank for charges I never agreed to. I paid over $5,000 in total, and they never returned my $300 deposit. Emily kept texting me that I had “outstanding balances” just out of nowhere and no matter how many payments I made. She charged my card twice a week, without permission. I have the texts to prove it all. I never delete a text ever.
When I pushed back and demanded the charges charges be stopped and reversed, Emily went silent on the call like if the call had dropped. I texted Ali, and he told me not to dispute the charges. He said if I did, or if my card declined, they would block the rental car’s license plate and send a tow truck to pick up the vehicle — regardless of whether my personal belongings were inside, right in the middle of the middle Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg Tennessee in front of a client who I was doing business with. Imagine the embarrassment of having to pick up these calls! Stay away from Enterprise if you’re trying to run a successful business with fruitful profit margins. These people will just threaten you and lie. Block the license tag? This was nothing short of a threat and it gets even worse.
Even more disturbingly, Robert also stated that if I didn’t pay an alleged $141 balance, they’d block the plate, leaving me stranded — again. Take the keys away! And then tried to say that Emily had been “doing me a favor” by charging my card. That kind of “favor” is called credit card fraud. Look it up!
Eventually, I returned the car to a different Enterprise location, Gulf Coast where the staff was professional, helpful, and respectful — exactly what you’d expect from a reputable company. They treated me well, until one day, out of nowhere, there was alert on me and they told me that there was a note on my customer profile added by either Ali or Robert, stating:
“Do not rent to this customer — ever.”
Enterprise customer service confirmed where the profile note came from and confirmed that it was Delray (DelRage) Beach Location.
How humiliating is that? Even after I paid everything in full, I was flagged and blacklisted like a criminal — after being mistreated, overcharged, and lied to by their own staff. The Gulf Coast branch was stunned, because they had only seen me as a respectful and responsible renter and a busy entrepreneur. Despite this nightmare, the he GC branch are all superbly trained and beyond professional.
I can’t believe I have to say this, but:
If you are a business owner needing vehicles, do yourself a favor — go fleet your own cars. Never rent from Enterprise.
They will siphon your money, lie to your face, and steal like a thief in the night.
To summarize:
• I was given a broken vehicle with no fuel
• I was yelled at and disrespected by staff
• I was charged repeatedly without consent
• I was threatened with towing and deactivation of the plate
• I never received my deposit back
• I was blacklisted by employees who created this entire mess
• I spent over $5,000 on a rental that caused me more stress than convenience
I am demanding a full refund of all unauthorized charges, return of my $300 deposit, and an immediate corporate review of Ali, Robert, Scott, and Emily for unethical and potentially illegal behavior.
This situation has been mentally, financially, and emotionally exhausting — and I will not stop until it is resolved. I am prepared to escalate this to corporate, my bank, the BBB, the Attorney General’s office, and legal channels if necessary.
Avoid Enterprise at all costs. You’ve been warned.
