Target avoid target stores like a plague

Please bear with me. This will be a long and involved complaint. I had to wait quite some time until I cooled down to be able to write this complaint. On Jan. 14, 2010 at 3:10pm I purchased [protected] Wii for $99.99. I was offered and excepted a new credit card-Redcard w/discount 10%. The reciept#[protected]-5716-3 VCD#[protected]. I give all the above information because you will need it to refund my money in my complaint. After I finished with my transaction. My husband, in line right behind me. Paid cash for a purchase of clothing. Unfortunately he did not receive his receipt. (not the 1st time I haven't received receipts from Target) But I wasn't worried because I had my receipt from my Wii purchase and knew that the missing receipt could be traced. On our next visit to Target, Feb. 1, 2010 or Feb. ll, 2010, I wanted to return a dress from the missing receipt and was told that couldn't be done, for two reasons. 1. I didn't have the receipt, and 2. I hadn't used a charge card. Plus the item had been removed from the system. I showed them my receipt that preceded the purchase but they said they couldn't trace it. That just didn't sound right to me. The item for return is bar code #[protected]. purchase price $5.48. I still have it and it is in perfect condition. I still want my money back or a store credit. If this is not resolved to my satisfaction in a reasonable time frame I will have no choice but to cancel my new Target Redcard account.

I have worked for major retailers and they can not track transactions that way. If I remember right the numbers are randomly generated to keep anyone from being able to track and trace people.

Telling a store you're canceling your credit account with them is like telling them you're painting your house. They don't care. They still get paid regardless of if you keep the account or not. They only get counted for getting you to open the account, after that whatever happens is out of their hands.

I find it funny that people complain that they did not recieve a receipt. Why would the cashier steal your receipt? You guys simply lost it and are now blaming Target.

Target they sent my order I a single huge package, that arrived damaged

This is my first time ordering from Target.com . It has been a total fiasco. I am irate.

1) The very large desk I ordered was sent in a single, HUGE, package. As a result:

a) It arrived damaged in shipping.

b) It was literally impossible to get up the stairs to my apartment.

Who on earth made this decision?!

2) When I tried to return the item, this was also impossible because:

a) Target sent UPS to my billing address--not the address to which I ordered the desk! I stayed home from work waiting for them. And now I'm expected to miss a second day of work because of their error.

b) UPS was told there were two packages. (Which, I admit, would have been a good idea. I wish they had thought of it earlier...) So even when they are finally redirected, they will not be able to pick up the one package Target sent me.

In other words, I ordered a desk which is completely unuseable in the form Target delivered it--and now I have to lose two days of wages and $60 shipping if I want to get it out of my lobby.

Are they kidding me? This is completely unacceptable!

Called number on the box, no help.went to Gurnee, Il store no help, callled Minnesota no help. Because we do not have a receipt or gift receipt, no one want's to claim...

Target late payment

I had a really bad experience with Target National Bank customer service. I applied Target Redcard in Nov, 2007, made some purchase, signed up for e statement in Dec. 2007. But I didn't get any statement neither paper or email. So I called them around Feb. 2008, paid all my balance over the phone and they also agreed to waive my late payment which never informed me before. In May 2008, they closed my account due to the unpaid late payment in the account, and still without informing me. I didn't find out till this year Jan, 2010 when I tried to apply mortgage for my new house. Because the stupid $10 late payment in my Target account since then, my credit score dropped from 761 to 680. I have to get much higher mortgage interets rate which end up paying few hundred dollars more every month. I called couple times to Target in Feb, 2010 to complaint about it, they said they fixed on Feb 11. I called again in April, they said they fixed on March 4th. But when I tried to refiance, the Credit Score is still low because they never fix anything!. I have to call Credit Bureau by myself to dispute it. Really bad experience. And this stupid late payment and unprofessional and no sense of responsibility customer service costs me almost $10, 000 to take this lesson. Will never deal with Target anymore.

I totally agree about Target National Bank - I switched to paperless statements in June 2011, while traveling I charged $60.00 on my RedCard in early July and did not think any more about it until I went to a Target store in November and tried to use my card - it was declined - I talked via telephone from the customer service desk and was told I owed 198.00 - and was late on making a payment - I paid immediately over the phone the full amount and it wasn't until I got home that I went online and discovered that it all stemmed back to that $60.00 charge - the rest were late fees and interest and the account had been closed. I immediately sent a letter explaining the oversight and the fact that I had not received any emails, postal mail or telephone calls and requesting that the late fees should be waived and my account be reopened to the CEO of Target and it was referred to Target National Bank and I was told that because the account was so overdue it would be unfair to all the other RedCard customers to make an exception. However they did credit my CLOSED acct for $35.00. I had discovered that the email address and telephone numbers were wrong (not my fault).
I felt that they had an obligation to try to contact me so I could correct the oversight...they apparently do not feel the same way and a response to a second letter that I sent (with a copy this time to the CEO of Target) requesting someone with authority to make some decisions based on the facts and just how was I to use this credit they gave me on a now closed account was met with another letter from the same person saying the same thing...I haven't checked my credit score yet but I'm sure it will be effected and my husband and I have great credit and it seems obvious that the $60.00 was just an oversight not an intentional non-payment. I do not have a habit of randomly checking my email sites of places I do not consistently charge at - I will from now on. Anyone have any idea how I can get to the right people to look at this situation and work with me to correct it to everyone's satisfaction.

By enrolling at Target.com to receive e-statements, you have immediate access to see the balance, transaction and payment due (including amount and due date) information. Why in God's name would you wait until February to contact them?
That aside, I agree with you completely that getting everything cleared up should have been MUCH easier than your experience.

Target target should be ashamed of themselves

1-12 cape coral fl veterans/santa barbara store - asking clerk for help locating pots & pans - "no speaka english" was reply. then i asked if she could direct me to someone who did. she had no problem getting someone. why with our unemployment so high don't we atleast employ people that are citizens and speak english. i could understand it if these non-speaking english people worked only after store hours. target should be ashamed of themselves.

It sounds to me like Target is hiring some customer service workers who speak the language of a large percentage of their consumer demographic. Maybe her job wasn't to help YOU find pots and pans, but to help a non English speaking shopper find something they needed. It's called marketing. More and more companies are doing it and you should get used to it. The United States does not have an official language.

The point was customer service positions. There's more jobs in the nation than putting someone with a major language barrier in a position that is composed of nothing but direct customer communication and contact. Don't act like you hate it when you get "Mike" from Tech Support on the line who you can barely understand their Indian dialect. Not saying people who can't speak English shouldn't be allowed to work, that's ridiculous. I'm saying that if they are not able to clearly speak English, or at least not be totally broken English, they should not be qualified for the position. You don't see me in a Spanish bilingual position because I can speak super broken Spanish. It would be just as frustrating for Spanish speaking individuals.

Target lack of integrity

I have worked for this company for a little over 2 years and can't believe all of the BS that goes on in this store. I worked for Wal-Mart before I worked for Target and I thought Target was supposed to be better than Wal-Mart. Well, I was wrong. The managers and human resources people have no control over their employees. They allow safety violations, threats, sexual harassment, and laziness to continue. The hard workers get the honor of doing most of the work and cleaning up after all the lazy workers' mistakes. Countless people sleep around and cheat on their spouses with fellow employees. Customer service and employee safety is NOT priority. Deadlines are not met. Short cuts are used so the supervisors "look good."

I complained about some of the lazy people who camp-out in the bathrooms for 20 minutes at a time, safety-violaters riding on equipment, employees lying to guests, and just plain NOT WORKING. The Flow Team supervisor told me that there's nothing she can do and that I was the one with the problem and should think about other employment. I also was told if an employee was not adjusting well to the job within the 90-day trial period that they are given more time to improve. I thought that was the whole point of the "trial period" to see if they were a keeper or not. It's stocking not rocket science! After a person has been passed through the 90-day trial period it takes at least 4 months before they can be terminated.

This same boss is also the one who has crossed the Supervisor-Associate boundary. She picks favorites and complains and fraternizes with employees under her. She has complained about an overweight Flow Team member, saying that he was too slow to do the job. She said this to a team member, not a Team Lead or ETL. She flirts with the male staff constantly. She's upset that her 20-something daughter was fired and now has to live with her.

There's one particular manager that is so selfish and wrapped up in his precious ad set, he doesn't answer the door or phones to let employees in. I was waiting outside for 30 minutes to be let in, no answered the bell or phones. So, I left and called back later to tell them not to count me as absent. I talked to the manager who didn't answer the door and I talked to the HR person. Idiots couldn't understand what I was telling them. Like i was just imagining things. He is still late to the door every hour on the hour that he is SUPPOSED to let employees in, early in the morning. That could be a safety hazard in itself. Someone could get mugged or raped in the dark and no one would know!

As far as training goes, we only have one trainer for the Flow Team. Any other training or advancement, you're on your own. Communication is lacking in the extreme. And forget about getting a good raise. We only get one raise a year and it is between 10 cents and a quarter. The supervisors wonder why certain team members are exhausted, frustrated, and tired of all the BS that they feed us. The TLs are so busy trying to get their scores up that they neglect the employees and don't babysit the ones that aren't working.

The only reason I have stayed this long is due to spite. Anyone thinking about working at or transferring to this store...DON'T! If you are a hard worker, you WILL be stuck with the work and care of the rejects. Any other hard workers around you will eventually quit and you will be stuck to clean up the mess and save the day.

Target credit card

Re: Acct ## **************************
This letter/email is in regards to several inquires about the account that is listed on my Credit Reports. I spoke to Customer Service. They informed me that your company does not have any information on this account. How did you investigate this account without any documentation? Please investigate the inaccurate trade lines, include copies of all original user or signer agreements and terms and conditions of these accounts per the TILA act the FACT act and the FCRA. I already disputed this information with the major credit bureaus and they claimed you verified it. I’m asking for a complete investigation into this inaccurate account including the ORIGINAL APPLICATION, THE ORIGINAL STATEMENTS- ALL OF THEM, ALL OF THE SIGNED CHARGE SLIPS.
I await an uneventful conclusion to this.

Target after years of trying to get a response just ignores all my requests, its terrible that this company can and will ruin your credit and refuse to correct them.

Boycott Target stores IMHO

I have a a huge complaint against Target Visa. I have had my Target Visa for several years now, and have made my payments on time. According to everything that I have read (http://www.bankrate.com/finance/credit-cards/want-a-lower-credit-card-rate-just-ask.aspx), credit card customers have the right to call in to their credit card companies and request a check for a lower interest rate. But every time I have called into Target Visa to request a check into eligibility for a lower interest rate, I am told by Target Visa Customer Service that it is Target Visa’s policy to only to do periodic checks and they will NOT check upon customer request. This is just wrong! Target Visa should be doing periodic check, but customers should also be able to call in and request a check into a lower interest rate. I am sorry, but Target Visa policy really sucks and needs to change. I trying to pay off and close my Target Visa account. Target Visa will be losing a loyal customer.

The account has been closed for 6 years and 10 months, Target has different trade lines reporting to the CRA's that are incorrect, Target refuses to correct and delete inaccurate information they are furnishing, CC's cannot without notice change terms and condition BTW, I asked for a 623 investigation into the complete history of the account and Target cannot produce anything I have asked for nor will they correct their mistakes.

Customer service needs to be improved at the Augusta Maine Target store in the photo department. My prints were done in seconds but to be waited on took more time than it should, store personnel, Crystal, waited on others before she acknowledged that I was standing there! Did not even thank me as a customer for shopping there!

Target target evidently has no control over its cashiers

I went to Target today to buy some "canned air" to clean my keyboard. As I checked out, the cashier asked for my drivers license. I asked why, was told she had to scan it to keep the "canned air" from being misused. I had already had this experience at the same Target over buying wine. The cashier asked for my drivers license and scanned it without telling/asking me. The cashier for the wine said she had to and didn't know where the info went- "probably nowhere". the cashier today said the same. the cashier today said it was a "state law" to scan ID. Wrong. Target evidently has no control over its cashiers. Its easier to invade my privacy than to train their people. Today was giving Target "one more chance". No more chances.

Tasha11 [Is that number your age, or your IQ?]
Target's privacy policy clearly states that they capture data including drivers license numbers, date of birth, address, etc. It also specifically states they use the data for marketing purposes AND that they SELL IT TO OTHERS!

You may like to be sold, but I don't fly on that side of the American eagle. There are too many people in this world like you that are enabling us to become some policed nation like in the movie "Demolition Man." If you were a GOOD parent...you'd teach your children to not play with fire. The problem these days are good moral codes and respect for others... something your parents didn't teach you, obviously. Your comment to me was unacceptable behavior. This generation of parents are lazy, and your children will suffer the prison you are enabling for them. They will end up fighting harder in the future for the very rights you take for granted, or are too lazy to understand. Now...go troll along on all the other complaint boards.

You might like to get [censored]d out like that, but it's not my thing, tasha11. [Is that 11 your age or your IQ?] I refuse for my adult children to have to fight this crime that people like you enable because you think it's okay and are too lazy to do anything about anyway...so you'll let our next generation deal with the "Demolition Man" type of America in their lifetime. I went to purchase a pack of lighters...with many other items, of course, at Target and wanted to scan my ID. It may be legal and public information, but no company is going to hoard my info so they can gather a database of consumer information. I'm not giving out my personal information for a lighter. Who knows what kind of freak-o...now knows where I live...? I'm not a criminal. I'm tired of being treated like one.

Totally disagree with Forever. They CAN bypass the ID screen, just have to ask for someone higher up to come over and punch a code in. Read on... I posted this previously somewhere else...

"Hi, I just found your post because I just got home from Target and figured for once I'd google and see if anyone else had this problem. I'm posting this just to tell you a few things you can do. I periodically jump into target to do my shopping because its right next to my house. On the occasion I do that and grab a bottle of wine they always ask for my license, The first time over a year ago, she took it and swiped, I asked her right away, why cant you just look at it and see I'm WAY old enough? She couldnt answer. Well as an experiment I went back the next week and did the same thing, only this time when she asked for my license, I said you can look at it but you may not swipe it. She said I have to, I said NO you dont. All you need to do is verify my age, and in over 20 years that used to be done with your eyes, m NOT a computer scanner. She called over the manager, and to my surprise, the manager keyed something in, and she politely gave me back my license. THere was some sort of note the pc generated on my receipt. Apparently you CAN refuse to let them scan, just insist. You need not put your items back on the shelf. I just did it again today, and of course there are people behind who sigh, because I am stubborn about not letting htem HARVEST my information off scanning my id. But I assured them, one day you'll thank me:) SO, let them check your id, and dont let them scan it. Make them call someone over. This happens alot more than you think, thats why they have a special code they punch in. Its an infringement of privacy and not neccessary.
Have a great weekend!
Niki

Target's registers no longer allow Cashier's to bypass the ID screen- we are required to ask anyone, of any age, race or sex for their ID if they are buying an M Rated Video game, wine, cough syrup, canned air, or even lighters. Don't take offense.

It's Target policy. The computers will not let the transaction continue without some form of proof that you are atleast of the legal age to purchase the item. You can have the cashiers put in your date of birth, but then they have to wait for their GSTL to come up and ensure that the guest is in fact old enough. Then they can go ahead and put in their password to allow the transaction to continue. On a slow day, this could take only a minute, but on busy ones, the GSTL has to respond to the calls in the order they come in so you could be there for several minutes just to buy an air duster. It's easier just to scan your ID and be done with it. It's only a to prevent the cashiers from letting their buddies from buying things like that and saying that they 'showed the proper ID'. It sucks to be carded for something like that, but like anyone in that position, you have to bite the bullet on that. They are just trying to cover their own ### and in today's society, with very good reason. Everyone is out to make a quick buck, and with all of the bs lawsuits flying around, it pays to be extra sure.

To be honest, it's for their protection. They're not invading your privacy. It's no different than them asking to see your ID if you write them a check. Their scanning of your ID? Just to let the computer read that you are over 18. I had to present my state-issued ID to buy cough syrup through them. I was slightly confused, because I'd never heard of them scanning it before, but mostly? In awe of the idea of being able to just scan the ID and the computer go "Oh, hey, yeah, they're 21. It's cool."

Target I will never shop at target again

I bought a product at a Target store for $20 and needed another one, which I found at another Target store; I called and was told the product was $29.00, although the sales person did say they would give it to me for the same price if I had my receipt. But when I got there I was told by the manager that she wouldn't honor that. She spoke to me has if I were a dumb waiter, even though I have 5 times the amount of education she has, and currently working on my PHd. I have never been so insulted and treated so poorly by anyone before. When she started telling me this is posted in the store, ALL STORES NOT HAVING THE SAME PRICE, I asked her to show me where it was posted. She then started to tell me it was on-line and TOLD me she wasn't going to argue with me; I WASN'T ARGUING WITH HER! I WILL NEVER SHOP AT TARGET AGAIN AND PLAN TO TAKE THIS TO THE PAPER, CORP. OFFOCES, AND ALL ELSE WHO WILL LISTEN. I'M ONLY GIVING PART OF THE STORE HERE BUT SHE SAID A LOT MORE WHICH LED ME TO BELIEVE SHE DIDN'T VALUE PEOPLE WHO PAY HER SALARY.

Why does TARGET use red for their employees, shopping baskets? RED IS AN AGGRESSIVE COLOR.
It is not peaceful and fun to shop. I HATE RED. I get angry the second I enter the store. I went there once
to get an RX and was too expensive. Another time I had to find a product which was more expensive
than anywhere else. I would rather drive 10 miles than go 1/2 block to TARGET . . I hate the name
i hate the color, I hate the atmosphere and I HATE THEIR CHEAP PRODUCTS. . they hike up the prices.
when they built a target here, they destroyed our nature fields, our eucalyptus trees, traffice became
horrendous. I checked it out and laughted the whole time, later I got angry. . Such a stupid stupid
cheap store, nothing is worth my time ever to shop here. . I would rather starve than try any of their
food products . TARGET IS a horrible store.

Maybe you should take into consideration that your PhD may not be in retail, maybe the person working in the store knows more about the store than someone who hasn't. Target's prices do vary by store, something that is 30% percent off at one store may be 75% off at another. Prices are determened by location, demographics, and how well certain things sell (someone with as high of an education as you claim should be able to figure this out).

I appreciate your complaint but I really hate it when people pull the whole education thing. I honestly think it makes you sound like you're sitting on your high horse. You don't know how much education this person had. I work in retail and people pull that out on me all the time and actually I end up being way mopre educated than they are. So while I understand your complant, Please eat some humble pie.

Target employee frustration

So I have been reading many complaints about employee treatment...and I thought I would add my experience as it is possibly unique and not unique at the same time, Here it goes:

I moved from my home state over the summer because I could not find a job in my home state because of the economic downturn (20% unemployment in some areas.) I decided to move cross-country and after a month with no job in a new city I needed something fast. I have an undergraduate degree in business but I was still having trouble finding employment, with a place that would accommodate my schedule ( I was pursuing a masters in a non-business related field.) I happened upon a new target store, and it said that they were still looking for candidates. I like Target...they have cool stuff...If you're kind of drunk it's fun to walk around in the store and play with the toys, and the employees always looked kind of happy, I guess.

So I applied, was asked to come to a mass interview, where they asked the most ridiculous questions, like it was a job for Proctor and Gamble and I would be leading the invention of the world's first toothpaste that you can swallow. (My first job as a researcher for an asset management company didn't ask that many questions and we were responsible for millions of peoples hard earned cash.) So I had applied for several positions, I applied for several leadership positions as well as a position on the "sales floor." I was offered a position, and I was running out of money so I accepted, at the awesome wage for the sales floor of $8.40 an hour. I felt a little bit insulted, but hey I had not had a job for a while, and at least I found a job and would be making some money. I was asked to take a piss test, because Target is a drug-free work place (good thing I quit toking up a month before the interview, because I ran out of money.) I passed, and they scheduled me for orientation.

Orientation gets moved to a week later and had to move around travel plans to see friends in a neighboring city...no biggie.
Orientation is kind of stupid, but the people that would be my managers seemed nice, so I wasn't too upset about, plus it's paid and it wasn't really that bad.

During the set up of the store...it's a new store...so the future employees help set it up (not sure if this is standard?) but that was cool...except...one day I got asked if I minded doing some "more" physical activities. I did not realize that I would be forced to stand outside and haul tons of metal from location to location and THROW IT IN THE DUMPSTER. That's right folks no recycling. As a former business student I asked my store ETL if we could possibly try to sell the scrap for the store to make some money before we open. Apparently Target doesn't allow that either. It almost felt wrong to throw away dumpster after dumpster of scrap, and the person I was doing this with all day also noted how wrong it felt. I thought Target was into recycling and being greener...whatever companies lie all the time, no biggie...I had worked for worse before, and I still had a job even though I had mentioned an idea that was very un-brand.

During "plan-o" as they call it, I get asked to train for the Starbucks in Target. I did so...and that was cool too, still no major complaints, and I met some awesome people in the process. What concerns me about the Starbucks in the Target is that the baristas are not allowed to accept tips. This was very awkward during the Holidays when customers want to tip you and you have to think of something to say, like, "we can't accept tips because we are all Target 'team' members" or "Well I would love too, but we are all commrade's and we toil for the betterment of mother-target." I don't know why Target would do this...it isn't coming out of their bottom line. Anyways, that's enough about the Starbucks...everything else was okay.

I worked part in Starbucks and part on the Sales-floor, I got tons of hours, too many in fact and asked repeatedly to be cut back because I was also going to grad school full time. The one instance that stands out as completely absurd, was a couple weeks we did not meet sales, and they cut peoples hours. Well they didn't cut any of the managers hours, and I am not sure how they got by without all the serfs toiling around the store stocking shelves and moving products around like siamang's. My hours were cut to 8 hours a week. For those two weeks, and frankly I just laughed. I asked one manager who I was closer with how she expected me to eat, let alone pay rent, and she said that they had to train a whole bunch of people for the Holiday season. I asked if they were going to buy me lunch on the days when we worked together. She didn't say anything, but got my point and ended up fanaggling more hours for me. This brings me to my next point.

I was not harassed nor was I treated as an inferior by anyone of my Management team, quite the contrary. I feel as though I was given preferential treatment because I was around the same age and same education level, if not more educated. They were accommodating to almost every one of my strange requests throughout my time at Target. However, this was not the case to all my fellow co-workers who deserved treatment. I don't know why they did this or the reasons I was selected for special treatment, I am a white male and did not plan on becoming a manager, I was working on a masters degree.

While I was there I saw many things that bothered me...I saw things that have consequently made me never return to Target. Was there bullying and un-fair treatment towards others...You betcha. Was there dicrimination...You betcha. Did people get fired for no apparent reasons...Of course. My overall experience was negative, not for anything done to me, but for the suffering and humiliation imparted to fellow human beings working there. People felt terrible everyday, I know because I asked. People were made to feel that if they messed up, they would be fired, because they could be replaced. I had a series of panic attacks and subsequently quit...most likely due to school, but I feel somewhat better now that I don't work there. I feel bad for the people that do however. It is not a great place to work, and the treatment of employees at Target on a store management and corporate level is downright wrong. Allowing people to make racist comments, allowing people to bully, allowing others to gossip and say false things about others to get them fired is wrong and should not be tolerated. At my store it was, and that is another reason why I left.

Target gave me a job when I needed one, and for that I am grateful...hopefully with this people will see that not everybody has a downright terrible experience, but I warn everybody that things are not as they seem. Don't just drink the kool-aid because it's your favorite color. I hope that this presented a more articulate and unbiased view of my time at Target, that will help anyone who decided to read it.

Thank you for your time.

Peace

Thank you for sharing your experience.
Recently I almost quit my job because they treated me like animal or slave. I work harder than anyone and I never have recognition. They always say something bad to everyone and never say thank you. Sometimes we still make us working during our break time the 15mins break. I know it is a privilege to give us 15mins break time (paid) so I accept to work on my break. But sometimes I am late on like a min cuz they made me work on my break. They get mad to me and I am not allow to be late. They say" if break is over, break is over." Our excuse is not acceptable.
This company really low of how they treated employee...
I didn't quit yet because they talk to me to help them but im sure im quitting in the near future.
I really need the job but Money is not everything.

Target defective computer system

I ordered three items related to car batteries (special jumper-cable type products that work through the cigarette lighter in the car or cars) back in early August. After several attempts to use them (one was solar-powered, and designed to keep a car battery from running out of juice when not in use), with little or no success--I finally started my car by rolling it down the hill!--I decided to return the worthless products to the nearest Target store (as it said I could do when I ordered them), then shop for some other things that I might want.

My next bad experience was looking for a non-existent receipt. When I went back on-line, the web site said I had never ordered anything at all! Luckily I still had the box, with my name and address and the return address, as well as the credit card bill with the charges from Target, so I decided to go to the store anyway.

When I arrived, they (naturally) said I would need a receipt, and we went to their store computer, which repeated my previous experience. Luckily, when I persisted (and since I had the box, the three items and my credit card bill) the clerk made a phone call to someone who was able to confirm the purchases and authorize her to refund the original cost, minus the shipping charges.

I asked if they were going to refund the shipping charges, since the items were clearly useless, and the person on the phone suggested that I go home and call Target. I absolutely refused, since at that point I would no longer have the items, there was no receipt, and no one could see my credit card bill over the phone or on line!

At that point I asked for a supervisor, who spent almost thirty minutes on the phone to get my lousy $16 worth of shipping refunded. The supervisor, who was very nice and understood (and knew that the lack of a receipt was an ongoing problem) should have had the right to make the refund on the spot, without wasting any more of my time (or hers). I was there for nearly an hour at the counter to return three defective items, mainly because of Target's defective computer system compounded by their defective policies toward almost everyone!

I left the store without buying anything at all, and I can't really think of a reason ever to buy anything from Target Stores again, either on-line or in person.

Target disrespective team leader

I am a retiree of target in california and virginia stores. No gray and black are the dress code for uniform. A team leader suppose to set the example. Not wearing clothes sloppy a shirt hanging outside their pant and dirty shoes and wrinky pants and nasty rule mouth. Proper uniform brown belts and shoes red khaki pant. No team member should have cellular phones on the floor. Only team leader and management should have phones. Yesterday the girl in food avenue was standing behind the wall on the phone. I stood their 9 minutes waiting for to waited on me. Her name was Tastra . No pockets or purse or backpack are supposed to be these area. to prevent theif. All Team members are suppose to be well groom. No bedroom shoes or sippers of any kind. This is a family store no gospel standing around gospeling with friends when they come in. No profanity thier are kids in the store on the time. When I mention this to the store manager. He response thier is not much he can do. Sally is the Team leader that dress sloppy. Susan worked with clerial was actually talking on the floor in food avenue during the week about team member she does not like. This is inexcusable behavior. She was very rule when I called to say to the HR. He was not available. Management need to change with some positive target training. The team member name Tastra did not clean up. Her response was she was in a club late. That is something to tell a guestor employee in front of a guest.

Target irresponsible and unprofessional behavior

I am a team member at the target store in Monroe, Louisiana and we have a senior team leader whom left money out in the store over night. The money was left at the front lanes by the cashier registers. Her name is Ashley Hill. She is the senior team leader in softlines. Our store number is 1469 located in Monroe, Louisiana. Her acts were irresponsible and unprofessional.

Target do not care about their customers

I recently shopped in your store and purchased some wine. I was insulted when they asked for my ID. I am 64 years old. I shop at Walmart, Meijer, Kroger, and our local store Martins. I am never asked for an ID. Also I had many bags at checkout and no on helped to put them in the cart. I had to hold up the line to put them in my cart! This is ridiculous that you have no baggers or even put them in a cart for customers. Every store I shop at takes care of you. You need to update your whole checkout system! There is too much competition and you are at the bottom of where I will shop next time!

The cashiers are the baggers. Putting them in the cart ourselves is presumptuous and disrespectful. It never hurts to ask, by the way.

You are ridiculous. There's not always enough people to have a bagger at each lane in the grocery stores. Also, some stores or workers card everyone just to be safe.

Target awful treatment of team members at target

I have worked at Target for almost a year and I have to say that I have NEVER been treated as awfully as I've been treated while there. I'm currently in the process of looking for a replacement job because, unlike many of the lazy, couch loafing kids that were hired, and get more hours than I do, I actually NEED a job to live off of. However, my ETLs and Team Leads (all incompetent) seem to think I can live off of 20 hours a week at $7.50/hr. Their constant excuses of not having enough payroll to give out better hours is, not only irritating, but very, very much a lie. I have never seen so much favoritism in my life. Most of the ETLs are female and seem to have centered their eyes on a couple of guys on the salesfloor and I can't help but notice that they get more hours while the rest of us get the excuses. (And, yes, even GSTLs have come to me about the unfairness of certain people getting hours because of favortism. I don't make this stuff up; it's too messed up.)

Of course, let's not forget, the wonderful "guests" that I have the most amazing pleasure of getting to deal with everyday. Excuse me if I can't let you get that shirt for 50% off just because another customer lazily threw it on the clearance racks instead of where it belongs. (I've never had someone try to get an item at a LOWER discounted price because the tag read 50% off but was sitting in the 30% off bin. Oh no, but if there's a 50% tag on an item in the 75% bin, they'll kick and scream like their annoying children to get what they want.)

I would like to make it clear, though, that I used to work at a different store before this one and I had a much better experience there. These managers are mostly all new because it's a brand new store and they have no idea what they're doing. My Store Team Lead absolutely HATED me and didn't care to hide it. Take this for example, when I told management that my boyfriend and I had NO food to eat, no money to pay rent and didn't know what to do. Instead of offering more hours or to train us in other areas to be able to pick up different shifts, my STL gave me a pamphlet of food drives in my area. Now, this may seem like a nice gesture, but I don't feel comfortable standing in a line with people that have no jobs and no real way of supporting themselves when I have an actual job that should be paying my bills! I feel like I'm stealing! Of course, when my mom got fed up with the crap and went over to complain to her about the unfair treatment (you gotta love protective moms) she always seemed to dodge having to actually speak with her and her attitude changed real quick after that.

So yeah, Target can brag all they want about how they give so much money to charity and blah, blah, blahcity. However, some of that goodwill should be shown to the supposed 'team members' that keep that worthless corporation together. I know this may seem like a lot, but I have a lot to say and have been through a lot because of this place. So, for those of you thinking about working for the "fast, fun, and friendly team" at Target, I beg you, follow your dreams instead and do what you love. Otherwise, you'll find yourself washed up and torn down, bleeding/sweating for the "worst company ever". I used to work for a Christian daycare in New Mexico. Boy, do I miss that. There, I felt like a valued member of a fantastic team. Here, the corporate machine seems to have taken over the minds, and possibly hearts, of once normal people.

By the way, you better bet when we've found better jobs and are moving on, I am going to leave the most incredible "Thank you, but f*** off" notes in the mangers' mailboxes :)

i'm sorry that happened. usually two interviews means you're hired, but i know all too well how they change things up however/whenever they want. maybe you're lucky, though. i cannot tell you how many other employees have come to me about the unfair treatment they've experienced. it's just not okay. maybe it's not just limited to target, and i understand that. but that's the only experience i've had and now it has me running as far away from retail as i can.

I'm currently working for Target as a cashier and they pay me 8.50 an hourly, but I know target is not a good company to work for due to their lack of management. They say pay increases is based on job performance and they give raises to people who kiss their [censor]. Most the time I give customers discounts that they don't suppose to get because I feel like the company is not taking care of its employee. what I would say to anyone who works at target and that don't raises or support should hurt the company by any means. Why would I work hard and not get fair treatment, raises and ect. At least I don't depend on target, I have another job that pays me well.

I, too, have worked for Target. Granted, it was only a part time job. However, you shouldn't be expecting to be getting paid enough money to pay for your rent and "boyfriend" with a part time job at Target.

It seems that you should get your priorities straight before bashing Target for not giving you enough hours. My advice would be to move back with your "overprotecting" mother who went in the store stupidly to complain about your problems that were your fault to begin with.

Idiocity of your post is simply demeaning with people who would kill for your position.

I understand where u are coming from. I have worked in retail for over ten years, and agree, that their are customers that always want to get free stuff or percentages off of items for no reason. But I want to say that I applied for a Target store that was opening in my area. I got called back for 2 interviews...but never heard from them again. I called numerous times, and spoke to managers at the store, after it finally opened but they never told me what happened. I was told that if I didn't get a letter stating that the position was closed or that I wasn't right for the position (which I never got anything) that I was still active in their system. It's been close to a year since then, and I still dont know. Guess I never will.

Target employee training

I shop often at the Target at Tanforan Mall in San Bruno, CA. Most of the cashiers are pleasant, making it a point to greet and thank customers. There are a few cashiers, however, every time I see them on duty, I avoid their lane. But, if I'm in a hurry and their line is short, I have to grit my teeth and go to their lane anyway. This Target has got to undertake employee continuing education because there is one cashier who has an awful behavior. She not only doesn't greet or thank customers, her attitude is one that makes customers think she's doing them a favor. And this isn't the half of it either. On the occasions I've run into her, she scrutinizes the items I'm buying, and then makes some nasty comment, such as today, when I was buying some tins of soup. She picked up on of the tins to scan the price, and then spent 30 seconds reading the nutrition facts label, and muttered "Too much sodium." Another time when Target had a donation campaign going on (customers could choose to donate to the charity while paying at the checkout), I ran into this same cashier, and she asked whether I would like to donate. I declined. Well, Target must have had an employee incentive going on, probably rewarding employees who got the most customers to donate, because this cashier kept begging me to donate, saying that she had high blood pressure, and couldn't pay her medical bills, etc., etc., etc. Doesn't this Target have a staff manager observing employee-customer interaction? If not, they'd better get on the ball and do so. This type of employee behavior is such a put-off.

Yeah, if you don't like the cashier based on past experience with them, then go to another checkout lane. I've been going to Target in Tanforan for the past few years now, I have experienced good and bad employees there, most of which I had a great experience with. If you're unfortunate to get an employee who treated you bad, then just ask to speak to one of the supervisors who's always on the floor with the cashiers.

The solution here is simple.
Get in another checkout lane.
I know, I know, you shouldn't have to put up with the behavior you described, but the simple truth is Target, like Walmart, Kmart, and well most any retail establishment can not afford to hire MBAs to man the checkouts. In some areas they are lucky to get high school grads.
You could try complaining to the store manager, I doubt it will make much difference.

Target abuse

My newest complaint against Target is putting people into positions they do not deserve. Especially electronics where things turn up missing all the time. Examples. The last two working that department. A Felon and an alcoholic kid. Of course the felon made off with stuff. That was to be expected. The kid well some stuff, big stuff came up missing. He's still there. But then did he steal the items?

Why would anyone put people who profile out as potential thieves into that department in particular? Stupid? Naive?
Or something entirely different...Looking for Fall Guys.
