State Farm taxes 1099 misc

HELP MY HUSBAND RETIRED FROM STATE FARM 6 YEARS AGO.
FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS YEAR HE RECEIVED A 1099 MISC. IT WILL COST US $1200 IN TAXES. THEIR EXPLANATION IS AFTER 5 YEARS
IT IS CONSIDERED OTHER INCOME. IT IS STILL RETIREMENT OR PENSION AND WE SHOULDN'T BE TAXED AGAIN. IN THE STATE OF
MICHIGAN IF WE RECEIVE A 1099R WE WOULD NOT BE TAXED.

ANY RETIRED AGENTS WITH ANY SOLUTIONS?

I will give them a free answer...You have to determine if the pension was saved before or after taxes. If it was before taxes, I am sorry, but you are going to have to pay the taxes now. Since your husband is a former State Farm Agent and probably licensed to sell securites products during that time, he should understand that. Hire a tax professional!

Sounds like you should have contacted a tax accountant vs posting on a complaint board.

Had State Farm insurance for 30 years with no problems. Had it in Arkansas, Oklahoma and now Louisiana. And by the way State Farm in Louisiana is $200 higher per car, per year for the exact same coverage. But now I have changed to another company. After 30 years with State Farm I moved to Louisiana and got an agent that could not bill me, call me or even mail me . My insurance got cancelled with-out me knowing and now State Farm will not insure Me because my insurance got cancelled even though it was their fault! So now I get to pay the fine to the D.M.V. while getting all this fixed. State Farm says I can get coverage after 6 months, No Thanks, I'll pass !

My car was hit when parked. Bumper ripped off and quarter plate damaged. State Farm wants only to pay for less than half of the bumper repair. I provided estimate to put back the damaged bumper and they don't want to pay that either since it is higher than a new bumper. The reasoning is that the bumper already had a dent. They do not want to pay for rent a car (one week) that I had. Let's get together a file a unified complaint we should not let these guys push us around anymore. They take our money but when we need them they refuse to do their duty.

Thanks,
Steve.

This year in Ohio there have been many horrific storms doing much damage to a lot of peoples personal property's. I filed a claim clear back in April and I am still trying to get my money for the damage to my home, we were out of power for 27 hrs and we are farmers and had 100's of pounds of meat in our freezer. I had to call someone to come and hale all the meat and debris from the storm, that alone cost me $255.00. I have never filed a insurance claim in my life so I didn't know I should have taken picture of everything, I don't have a camera, I could just about died. Now they are asking me the same questions over and over and over and over and I keep giving them the same answers. I am so tired of state farm, they are crooks and obviously don't want to pay for my damages. I am going to finish this nightmare and then I am going to switch insurance company's

State Farm sends out a renewal bill with your ID Cards. They also send you a cancellation notice. The agent would be putting himself at risk for a liability lawsuit if he tries to send you an agent created letter. The bottom line is, you didn't pay your bill. Quit trying to blame everyone else but yourself. Take responsibility you deadbeat!

State Farm state farm insurance suspending license?

Thanksgiving day i had went to grab my car and park it in front of my apartment figuring this would be an easy task. On my way to paralell park outside this black car speeds up on my back end and blairs the horn. So i go up to the next parking spot while traveling to this area the car even tries to moneuver around me on a one way street. I finally arrive, on the same street at another parking spot. As i try to back in the car zooms up behind me. He instantly gets out of the car and yells "you broke my car!" . After this had happened i had gone inside my girlfriend had heard the guy laying on the horn and watched the whole thing. This being a car i had just purchased i had not insured it yet. So i had exchanged information with the driver who was using state farm insurance. Two weeks later i get a call from asking me what had happened they also called my girlfriend and got her say. Another two weeks rolls by and they call me back saying that he had told them another story and he had a police report? That is amazing, he actually had the police come while i was gone. Today i recieve a call from OSI Collections which is state farms collection agency. This is strange because for two months i had not heard from state farm and all of a sudden i have to pay 1200.00 dollars in repair for this guys car or the insurance company will suspend my license and my moms. I cannot believe i had not gotten any result on the accident untill now. I then called and spoke with state farms insurance they in fact told me that they are always bias for the customer. And that if i did take it to court they would not release it from collections.

Insurance companies cannot suspend your license. I believe you are a liar, and you did not have sufficient insurance to repair this guy's vehicle. You should be incarcerated. I am tired of idiots like you causing damage without proper insurance.

So what happened? Did your license get suspended? or do collection agencies just say that to get you to pay? I really want to know. You had no ticket or report to DMV, right? And they went behind your back and lied and made it sound like your fault. Can they get away with that? does the DMV really take licenses away for nonpayment to a collection agency? In Illinois does this happen? Let me know. Thanks.

I agree with "no time for idiots' You are up the creek without a paddle. When they first contacted you it appears you admitted to haveing no insurance or you told the driver whom you hit. Sadly you were backing up which about 99.9% of the time means you will be the at fault driver. Not only did the police find you at fault but also the insurance company - two different agencies but both found you to be the liable party.

It is your responsbility before driving off in a new car to buy insurance - its a state regulation and because you were driving w/o a license and were at fault yes the insurance company can file a claim with the DMV and once a judgment is received they will revoke your license. You're better off paying a monthly payment to the collections agency or setting up a lump sum offer or you will be driving unlicensed and have a judgment against you, mean while your credit rating continues to decline.

You have to own up to your responsibilities, if you're going to drive buy insurance.

State Farm fired for working to much

I worked for this company for 10years. Was a very dedicated employee and did a good job for them. I was given a new boss in January and he began writing me up, harrassing me and giving me extra work. By April he made me aware that i was going to be fired.
After i went to Human Resources Dept. and complained about him, i was told I had done nothing wrong. In June I was fired work "working overtime and not getting paid for it".!

State Farm abandonment

Gentlemen,

So let me get this straight. As an insurance provider you want to sell your products, services, and policies to your customers until you decide its too risky to provide insurance. Hmm, isn't your business model based on risk and reward? Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. It sounds as if the organization could use a business coach on how to make good business decisions that benefit their customers and their shareholders.

"Like a good neighbor statefarm is there"...you have got to be kidding me! As a 20+ year customer with home and auto policies, and ZERO claims I find it unconscionable that your would hide behind your desks and let the media tell me you are dumping me. What a crock. You should come up with a way to manufacture a non-rechargeable electric car. You've got the list of suckers, I mean customers that bought into your first concept and convincing us you would be there. I'm sure you could sell that car and then have the tow truck driver tell the poor chump that he bought a car that he cant use because the maker decided they were going another direction.before they made a battery charger.

A couple of thoughts. America is such a great place that we allow our 'good neighbor' to say, screw our Florida neighbors, we are only going to sell them our services that offer minimal risks. And to think the state would probably give you a license to sell peaches at a roadside stand just baffles me. Hey, if we are not good enough to buy all of your products, I suggest you load up the uhaul and take the rest with you.

Even though state farm is by far not the cheapest insurer, I have probably turned down thousands of requests to take up others offers and passed up thousands in savings...heck, my 'good neighbor' has been there for me (wait did I mention 0 claims in 20 years) 'er would be there for me if circumstances required, so why would I do that to my good neighbor that takes care of me. Even though some mail campaign tells me, we'll take just as good care of you and cost you less. C'mon give us a shot. We want your business and will treat you like family. Uh oh, where did I hear that before I would think, oh, that good neighbor named State Farm. I cant leave him, he's a great guy, got good kids, a great staff and really wants to talk to me when I stop in to say hey.

So, my good neighbor wants to raise rates 47% because of rising costs or whatever. Someone has been stealing the newspaper off his driveway (or his foreclosed neighbors driveway), because he obviously hasn't seen that property values have fallen over 50%. So what you are really asking Florida is a 97% rate hike. I'd turn it down to. I would feel funny borrowing 10 bucks from my neighbor, but obviously my 'good neighbor' feels its his given right to be excessive in his requests. Maybe I should go out and find the latest home value figures. last I checked, I have $350000 coverage on my home that the median value is now 279000. Now, I didn't ask you my good neighbor to re-evaluate my home when the values plummeted, but like a good neighbor I figured just in case something happens "you'll be there", so why fix what's not broken, besides it's all good, we're neighbors.

Now what would a true neighbor do? If you are statefarm you move out of the state and leave some of your belongings behind. But me, I am a good neighbor and would go tell the guy that's been there for so many years for me, hey, there's no need to move out of the state, just move away from the neighbors that duped you and built a house 3 feet away from being taken over from high tide. We're not all bad neighbors, we look out for each other, but you need to lose those friend on the water, they are just begging you to let them build that fixer upper into a party palace on the beach as their weekend get away. This neighbor (me) would say, hey stop hangin out with those guys, they are bad news its a no win situation and it will ultimately alienate our neighborly ways.

I'm not in the insurance business but I consider myself to be business savvy. How can I seem to understand the underlying issue, but the people that bleed the red logo don't?

Regards
Austin

I live in Las Vegas NV. and I have two homes five autos and two motorcycles all with State Farm. On July 9 of this year we had a strong storm rip through the valley ( heavy rain with 60 plus MPH wind) my roof leaked into my finished garage and leaks also in the formal dining room, the wind removed two wind turbines and destroyed the solar system for the pool. I called my agent and reported the damage, he gave me a number to call ( 11 July ) and I was given a claim number and I was told that a claims examiner would be out within two days to look at the damage. The claims examiner did not show up on the promised date ( I took off work to accommodate them ) I called the claims office late on the afternoon of the 11th July to see if the examiner was running late and I was told that this was the first time they had heard of my claim, when I asked how come I have a claim number the response was that I was a liar, and that a person would show up on friday because it is policy to show up within two days. I took off Friday the 15th and their representative showed up about 4 pm. When I showed the claims rep the opening to get into the attic ( a Female ) the rep said I don't go in attics so she stuck her hand up into the attic with camera in hand and took photos in a 360 degree manner. She then asked if I had a ladder because she did not have one. She then went on top of the roof and said that there was evidence of wind damage, and would cover the solar system and turbines but the roof leak dad damage to sheet rock paint and leak in formal dining room would not be covered because it was her opinion that the roof had seen better days and was worn out. We had rain during the winter and had no leaks at that time, the roofer stated that the high wind forced the water up under the shingles and caused the leak. Ok then I would pay for the roof repair and they ( insurance ) would cover the solar and turbines. It has now been over 30 days and several calls to my agent and the claims center and no one will return my calls how long does a reasonable man have to wait before the insurance company is in breach of contract or acting in bad faith.

i have had state farm for 21 years. i have had 2 claims 14 years apart. i received letter from state farm letting me know that they were not renewing my policy in May because my 2 claims were unacceptable. not sure why we pay into insurance if we are not allowed to use it in a time of loss. i guess the only thing that is acceptable with state farm is to pay your premium and never have a claim. i am very upset with state farm and will never have anything nice to say about them. i have been searching for a new insurance company to take me and they will not accept me as a new customer because i have had a fire loss in the last five years. so what do i do, who do i turn to. when and if i find someone to insure me i will have to pay a very high rate i'm sure. state farm is not a good nieghbor.

My good Neighbor just cancelled me. Why? Because i filed a subrogated claim that they assured me would not be held against me. I had a contractor working in my house and he ruined the floors in my house. He reported it to his insurance who decided not to pay even thought the contractor admitted his guilt. My agent assured me that they would step in remedy the situation and would collect from them. In turn I was cancelled for this. I was a life long customer of State Farm. Over 20 years insuring my two trucks and a motorcycle and my home. Stay away from State Farm they are nasty greedy corrupt and have no integrity or loyalty to their customers.

Homecomings has helped ruin my credit when 2 months after closing, STATE FARM contacts THEM requesting payment for our homeowners insurance, which; as AZ Law dictates, 14 months had been paid for in escrow at closing. I have all documentaion from the title company, including a copy of State Farm's cancelled check...As a result, our 2 month's worth of escrow account was drained and showed a negative balance, which has since been reported to the credit bureaus regularly, our monthy payment on a 30 year fixed increase $500 and we have been given the '...not looking goood..., ' regarding our recent loan modification request. Bottom line, State Farm denys everything even though I have all the proof, they even issued new car insurance policy numbers around the time they 'debited' our escrow account fraudulently. Don't you think my mortgage company would have been calling if they didn't show any policy? How about State Farm calling, you know since we're on a first name basis with Curt Garrett's Tempe, AZ office staff. Hum...

Clearly you are angry, but perhaps instead of believing 100% of the media you need to do a little research. Let's for fun sake say for every dollar collected it costs two dollars to pay claims. How long do you think an organization can stay in business? Do you realize the destruction the past several years has cost Florida insurers. Oh by the way, Allstate pulled out also, but they waited for State Farm to do it first so they could avoid all the media attention. Yeah I'm a policyholder also, but before I jumped off the cliff and called my agent to complain and curse him out I stepped back and gathered all the information. My agent took the time to explain this is how much it costs us we are making on a policy and this is what it's costing us. Without the insurance rate they would go belly up. Oh and what if they raised rates 47% you'd ### then also, because then you'd have to pay more money. You're right it sucks because we are all affected. I live north of Orlando have not seen a hurricane in over 25 years but guess what, I pay an increased premium because I choose to live here. Now consider this, it is the govenor trying (he hasn't succeeded yet) to push out ALL insurance companies, you know what that means? Your right to choose who insures your home dwendles down to piece of crap carriers who have no financial backing. At least if your house gets hit by a hurrican you know State Farm is there financially to pay your damages - you really think if Citizens gets stuck with all the State Farm, Allstate and who ever else policyholders they will have enough to sustain your damages if we ever get hit by a big one. Rule of thumb, don't believe everything you read in the media they are there to get your feathers ruffled. Until you get a cancellation letter I don't think State Farm is going anywhere, and if they don't then you cried over spilled milk.

I think I agree. It's a little hard to follow the entire narrative.

I was informed by State Farm that, after more than 30 years of my family being a customer that they were canceling our homeowners insurance because we were too close to the water. During a follow up call, I was informed that they have changed there risk thresholds and since my house is less than 2500' from the water, they were canceling my policy.

Like you, I bought 30 years worth of their B.S. and stayed with them even though they were not the least expensive option.

State Farm putting burden of proof of damage back on me

On October 15, 2008 I was traveling North Bound. A buck ran across 2 south bound lanes, a 4 lane grassy median, and then over the left passing lane in front of my car and hit the right front and side. I was apx 1/2 mile from the exit. So I proceeded to get to a safe place. I pulled over to an Auto Collision place and my car made horrific sounds and dumped the entire cooling system onto their lot as it overheated. I have been hit by deer before, but nothing like this. You could not open the hood to my car and my car looked horrible there in the dark of the night. There is a huge whining sound and steam coming from all over. I have to have my husband come pick me up. I call the place where my car died at and leave a vm because they are closed that evening. I also call my insurance company and they give me a claim number and advise that this place is State Farm approved. Now mind you I still have the car keys. The next morning I call the place where my car died at... and they believe the car is repairable, but that I arrange to have a rental car. I repeatedly called the collision repair place asking about my engine because the radiator was squashed and pushed up hard and the fact that my coolant dumped all over their parking lot, also the fact that the engine sounded horrible before the car stopped there in there lot. That estimate did not move even after they supposedly checked my engine. I also kept asking are you sure my car is not totaled? And repeatedly no. Mind you I never spoke to my adjuster.. he or she never called. Something did not sound right... Estimate $5365.00 and that did not cover what State Farm would have to pay for Car Rental. My car is a 2003 Pontiac Vibe with almost 91, 808 miles. It made no sense that they did not total car. But I did not want to be difficult. They were to fix my car in 11 days.. I received my car back on October 31st. I had to pick it up after work. Collision place not open on weekends and close anywhere from 5-5:30. I was not even sure until later my work day that the car was complete. They hid the keys so that I could pickup the car. I dropped off my rental keys in their drop box. Immediately when I got the car there were issues. I had no left turn signal, no horn, battery light kept blinking on and off, hub cap had huge hole in it, hazzard lights did not work, the lights mis-aligned, speckled plastic in the headlight that they replaced. I took the car for a drive the next day in the daylight to see if I could discover anything else wrong. I left a voicemail with my Insurance Agent and also with the collision repair. That if they could not fix the obvious then how was I to have faith in any engine repairs.. and that I was driving a compromised vehicle and that I worried for my safety. They relayed the information to the claims office which in turn they stated that the claims adjuster would look into. Also that I could not take off work the next week because I had off site spec. gas training for work. But I did take it in on Tuesday, November 10th. They gave me a rental car for the day.. and I thought they went over the things that my husband to had called in such as the alignment and how the car drove. They fixed some of the items I mentioned not he speckled headlight.. but it seemed that they worked better so I gave that a pass. The battery light would still flicker on and off from time to time.. but figured it was what the collision place said.. paint on the wires and that I could take it back. I only drive to work and back, I was taking Italian and go to the gym.. but I do that on my way home from work. So no extra mileage. I did complain on the decrease in my gas mileage from 31 down to 23mpg. And stated something about the white smoke from exhaust. It was so cold I thought with the new radiator that this was just the car working itself. On December 4th I had to drive to Philadelphia to pick up my sister and husband from the Airport for she was visiting for the weekend. I had to return her on December 7th back to the airport in Philadelphia my car ran funny, but did not overheat or anything. I did not go to work on December 8th. I went to work on Tuesday, December 9th. I noticed straight away I had no heat in my car. It was 23 degrees that day... I froze all the way to work. My engine light flickered on just as I got to work. I immediately called my insurance and they had me call my claims office. I told them I had no heater and this was supposedly entirely replaced along with my radiator and cooling system. I also advised again of the decrease in mileage, white smoke... etc. In the interim my husband called the Collision place and they proceeded to say that the no heat was not related to the repair work they had done but that they would look at it WHAT? You replace the entire heating/cooling and radiator .. and it is not your workmanship? Anyway the insurance claims office called me back to tell me to bring my car into the collision shop the following day. Also that the adjuster would call. I received no call yet again. Well guess what on the way home... at the same exact spot that buck hit me ... my car totally lost power (like someone pulled the keys out of the ignition). My engine seized and I hardly made it on the shoulder. There was no overheating... there was no engine indicator light. Car would not start again. We waited for Triple AAA to tow us off the road because car was in a compromising position... towed it to the Collision Repair because they were to check it out anyway. I called that night from the side of the road to the claims adjuster place and filled them in. The following morning I had my girlfriend bring me to work and had the rental place drive me a rental car. The auto collision place advised that they were authorized to look at it and approved for the car rental. I called the Claims office again to advise that after googling on the internet that it sounded like a head gasket .. and this can happen if losing all coolant and if when replacing that the entire system was not pressurized and or mixed right. The collision repair place called stating that they needed it to be put on a diagnostic and that they could send it to their mechanic or if I wanted to .. I could send to mine .. and it would be authorized to be checked by State Farm. Again no call from this adjuster which we kept being told that we would be called by. I said I rather my mechanic. (I am not going to have buddies cover up one another's workmanship). I was initially told that the adjuster would of gone down to collision place when they got the car back this 3rd time. But later it was implied he/she was not. So I contacted my place to say the car was going to be going down there. Mind you when I had no heat I had asked to the insurance claim place, that I was thinking about having 2nd opinions on the work on my car. Then again told that when it was at my mechanic shop that the adjuster would be there. Anyway it came back that it must be the timing chain.. that from the collision place before went to my mechanic.. and I feel that my auto mechanic was not told about all that happened to my car from accident etc. So he initially thought the same. Which with the phone calls me and my husband had with the original dealer of my car and another car dealership said it would not happen with my car the liters etc. That there was no way it was the timing chain. When it was initially told to us by the insurance claims and Auto collision that timing chain my husband was on the phone stating this is not our wear and tear.. because that is what they kept trying to tell us. I did not believe it was the timing chain. It did not fit. But they degraded us.. gave us no respect and told us basically tough it was out cost. No matter what the other dealers were telling us.. they were not paying and it is what it is. We then asked for a more accurate estimate then just more than $1000.00 for the timing chain.. and so our mechanic started looking .. and he called us and stated he was sorry .. with the information he was given and the strong arming of the adjuster he thought it was the timing chain.. but he could not see totally at time.. but now he can see that it was not the timing chain what so ever. And that he knew that it was the gasket. So again we went back to the claims each and every time asking to speak to this ghost adjuster with no name or phone number. We figured that he/she was upsidedown because the estimate for the repairs should of had the car totaled from the get go. So my car needs an entire engine.. my mechanic can get an engine for apx 1500 and that does not include the mechanic hours. We tell the insurance company it is not the timing belt.. and they say it was our responsibility to authorize a complete rip down of the engine and that was the only way to determine if head gasket and then that would not prove it was from accident or repair. To rip down is apx 4 hours.. and at $65/hour and that is not back together etc. We have paid our $500.00 deductible... 10% of car rental. Loss of work, loss of my class, loss of me going to the gym.. etc. Our Mechanic has stated that our adjuster is not a nice person.. and has implied that no way are they going to admit to their error and will find a way out of paying. My question is this... they never looked at the engine initially from the accident.. the gasket probably was damaged from the dumping of the coolant when the collision happened. They are arguing that in 2 months time that I put on miles and that my car would of overheated and that I would have noticed. Only time car overheated in a visual sense was when I hit the dear and car initially died. With all the wiring problems is it not conceivable that I had no indicator that I had a problem with engine. I have people that can document that my car was not overheating. Also, per my sisters husband who is a repair shop advisor in Colorado.. stated that many times during an entire radiator heating/cooling replacement.. thermostats and sensors are cut by accident or not connected .. therefore making the engine run cold... and not indicating any overheating. I have had this car since it was brand new... my mechanic states my car was always in great condition mechanically. None of this makes sense... When I spoke to this Jennifer from Claims office she keeps implying I drove while overheating and it is my burden to even try to prove it. Also this claims office has told my husband that I must drive the car hard to have made this happened. He laughed.. because I drive the speed limit.. and was very anal when I first got the car back in the first place. I have no speeding tickets since I was 20 something... I have been with State Farm from the early 90's something like 92 give or take. My homeowners insurance is with State Farm.. I am not some swindler. So I called my Insurance rep.. I pled my case. They had the owner call me. I told him as much as I could recollect in Cliff notes. He called to see... he suggested having the shop check for leaks in radiator could of been a defect in radiator.. and if so then it would be the radiator company. I cannot speak for him.. but he did try to find out what they thought my car was worth to have the initial estimate over $5000. I also advised that 2 dealerships could not understand why the car was not totaled with that extensive of an estimate. My rep is giving me respect and hearing me out .. and trying to help on his end. He has given me the feeling that he is uneasy about what has happened to me. But of course he cannot say. I love this office.. they have always been good... but State Farm Claims and their adjusters... are covering up for a job that should of never been done. So in turn they are making me take the lumps. All this transpiring over the holidays of Thanksgiving, and the Christmas Holidays. There Claims adjusters yelling at us.. and telling us any fairtale ie.. timing chain.. etc.. telling me that my car was overheating...and that I drive hard. Telling me that no way was the collision shop wrong.. because they did everything right in pressurizing and mixing the coolant... because the collision place said so... HUH.. the same collision shop that gave me my car back with obvious things not working that I could see... but to take the word on the things unseen that they did right. Please. Now, I have no car.. it is in a shop.. If I proceed with the work... then what... my husband complained of the car pulling before the hub cap replacement.. and again after.. so on this last trip they say well you have scrapes in the new hub... yes but that did not make my car pull.. it was happening before... They said I must of ran into a curb hard... again with my driving. I have a nice driving record. They keep trying to make me sound like Mario Andretti on the highway. Just because they were upsidedown from the get go. My insurance rep could not find out from the adjuster what they felt my car was worth just prior to the accident. No numbers.. ... Anyway.. I am filing with the PA State Insurance Commission and/or take to court. My husband was told that the Insurance Adjusters Supervisor has been handling our case for a while... but still no name.. still no call... just some customer service in between people.. I have spoken to so many people.. people reading scripts on findings from computer screen. Letters in CAPS like shouting at me. But no Adjuster.. have begged .. but nothing. No car... borrowing a friends. Tough around my schedule and Holidays. Happy Holidays to those of you at State Farm. It is always the hard and honest worker that has been paying premiums for those that are dishonest... sad is that it will come back and bite you in the bum when you knowingly are wronging your customers. State Farm poor reimbursment

I have insured my mobile home for 1 year and also have had vehicle insurance since I got a drivers liscence which was bout 10yrs ago. I pay almost 4000 yr for my auto and home. I placed the first claim to State Farm Sept. 15, 2017 after Hurricane Ike ripped through my nieghbor hood and destroyed peoples homes and belongings; today is the Nov. 10, 2017 and i have just now heard that they will not pay me what it will take to repai my house but they will charge me money for the depreciated value of my home and that should balance out what they would pay me. So therefor this other insurance called Foremost funded a close friend that had very similiar damage 4x's the amount of what State Farm payed me and got his house fixed. To sum it up I switched insurance to Foremost and will never ever use State Farm again and please do the same to save yourself a headache and nithmare if you ever need them. Thanks for reading

I have received letters, emails, and phone calls from your company. I inquired about your company 2 years ago and was told that you would not insure me because I had 1 claim!(in 15 years). Please leave me alone. I do tell everyone think your company is awful. Please take me off your list. So like a good neighbor leave me alone.

As with any contract you enter both sides must uphold their responsibility. When you go into any insurance office and bind coverage you agree that for a time date and price a promised service will be provided. Temp. Proof of insurance cards are printed in most insurance offices the same day and your nice pretty laminated one are mailed two weeks later. The only reason the company would have asked for proof of repair is if you had a salvage title to your car, or if it was in a wreck. The company is going to protect it's self and only insure a quality book of business. For the amount of money you are saying you were charged it appears to be a 6months premium. If you did not provide the needed documentation to the office within 30days of binding the application it will be canceled for lack of documentation. The refund for the 1st policy was more than not in the mail when the second application was taken and an additional payment taken. I have found that if all parties take the time to sit down and discuss the procedures payments and policy coverage it will solve many problems.

The only reason State Farm would pay Actual Cash Value for your home is because your policy stipulated that. I have an endorsement on my mobile home that provides for Replacement Cost Value. You must pay extra for this coverage. It is not automatic.

State Farm callous & uncaring

I was hit at a stop sign on a country road. The driver smacked into me and totaled my car. When we exchanged info I realized that we both had State Farm...Now after almost 3 years State Farm has not paid off my claim. And has scheduled to go to court on 0909. They have been callous & uncaring and told me their policy is to stand behind the offending driver not the victim. Why should they hurry, They are not going to work hard against their own company. There should be a law if both parties in an accident have the same agent. The victim should be able to have a temporary policy with the agent of their choice so the victim would be treated fairly. It would save a lot of grief.

State Farm has always been about the policy holder. - Untrue statement.

I was re-ended by a state Farm insured person. My ABS stop functioning! $2400.00 fix. State Farm refuses to cover it claiming "we cannot prove/connect the failure of the ABS with the accident."

Lovely, just fricken lovely.

I have worked for several State Farm agents and have handled many claims in which both people were with State Farm. If the policy holder that hit you caused several thousands of dollars worth of damage to your car and if you had Personal Injury as well as Collision damage the claim could be well over the worth of your car. State Farm does not spend time and money on pointless claims.

Payment of claims has nothing to do with the agent you have. No matter what agent if the policy holder has an agent in a certain area thousands of claims go to the same claims office. Agents do not handle claims. The agents and team members are there to protect the policy holder from devastation. The staff in your agents office know as much as you do until they call someone. We only turned in the claims.

Call your agent, ask for your claim rep's number. They will give the number to you and the claim rep should catch you up on everything.

You can always change agents whenever you want. State Farm has always been about the policy holder. You will always hear complaints about State Farm from people who wont dish the whole story and/ or refuse to call the agent and ask why a particular situation is going on.

Be pround you have one of the strongest legal teams in the United States fighting on your behalf to get your claim paid. State Farm isn't fighting itself it sound like they are taking the other policholder to court on behalf of your claim.

Accidents are very emotional and stressful but sit tight State Farm takes care of their policy holders and your agent should be able to take you through everything step by step.

State Farm state farm will not cover my sewer pipe break

I am writing this in the hopes that someone out there could help me, or lead me in the right direction. I recently found out I had a Sewer Pipe Break under my house. We had an adjuster come out and did the whole 9 yeards. In order for it to be fixed, a plumber would need to break up my recroom floor (the pipe is under the cement slab), bathroom tile floor and more than likely my laundry room floor (they are not sure where the damage ends without sticking another camera. We found Mold from the water leaking all along my basement wall and I have 2 small children who have all their toys down there. Long story short, the adjuster that I had come out was under the impression that it would be covered. Our home owners policy is under State Farm. All the leg work has been done, we even had a company called Serve Pro come out a put an air cleaner in our basement and tape off the closets where the mold is. The agent from State Farm came out to look at the problem a few days later State Farm sent out their plumber to confirm there was a leak and the pipe needed to be fixed. The plumber confirmed it and the adjuster went back to State Farm to get the go ahead to get the job done. I just got a call today that State Farm denied my claim stating the "wording in the policy had recently changed" and Pipes that are under the slab are not covered. This is unbelieveable! We have had StateFarm for 8 years ever since we became home owners, never had a claim until now. What do we pay insurance for if they are not going to pay for damamges. Where else do they expect a Sewer Pipe to be on top of your house? This job is going to cost any where from 8, 000-20, 000 dollars. Not even counting the cost of having my basement walls ripped out, redone and mold free as well as my belongings in the basement, bathroom tile floor replaced, painting redone since the wall was cut to get to the pipe. My adjuster told the Manager at State Farm we would take him to court and he said go ahead we have a good case. I do not have the money for a lawyer let along the money to fix all the damage. Please help. State Farm is probably screwing so many others and this needs to STOP NOW. I am hoping someone reading this can help me.

A good PA will get enough to cover his/her cost even after the 35% taken out of settlement in the end.You get what you the homeowner are fully due for your loss Why do you thinks PA's exist and must be licensed in their State? Ins. Companies adjusters DO NOT have to be. So what you are saying Serio_sly is that you trust the call made by an adjuster that just spent 2 weeks in training on how to save the Ins company money?, that maight not even know the difference between corian and granite, orAustrailian Cypress flooring and pine? I challange you to look up worst home owners insurance companies on the Internet and take a look at list of complaints, and the worst out there.Go ahead take a look. You must be an adjuster for the Ins company. You just don't like when you can't go back to the office and brag about how much you saved your company and how you achieved you next little bonus.I don't know how you can sleep at night knowing you are screwing some poor person that just had damage occur to their home.

yes...call a public adjuster so they can take 35% leaving you with less then what you need to do the repair work! I did! and to the homeowner...that does suck, but read your policy and know what you purchase. Almost every company excludes that type of loss. The the mold genius...mold doesn't grow overnight...common sense would tell you that.

in response to whystatefarm & everyone else: CALL A PUBLIC INSURANCE ADJUSTER ASAP! They, not attorneys, can help immediately and greatly affect the monetary outcome of your claim. It's unfortunate that most people do not know that you have a right to have someone on your side, the insurance company has full-time adjusters working on their side, shouldn't you have someone looking after your claim? Do you let the IRS tell you how much you owe on your taxes? Nope, we get an expert on our side because it is worth it to have someone that knows policy, protocol & procedure to ensure that we recieve everything we are entitled to under our policy & the law. This is why you should call a Public adjuster ASAP! firstcallclaims.com

I notice that the only person laughing is someone who works for State Farm Insurance...that company certainly knows how to pick the right ppl to continue their methods of ripping off people who make the mistake of trusting the company.

I've recently had a water pipe break and it flooded our laundry room. We had to get a plumber in to stop the water the next day. We were told by the insurance company to get estimates from contractors which we did and i also sent in the plumbing bill. Boy, was I stupid to think the insurance company would pay for the plumber--just because that was what caused the problem didn't mean that the insurance company should pay for it. Also, it took three weeks for the adjustor to come out and four days for her to decide that our contractors were asking too much money. Meanwhile, my family is suffering from the mold that few out of the hole for those three weeks and my daughter developed asthmas and learned how to use an inhaler, not that the insurance company cared.

The water pipe broke on Oct 13th and we've had to battle with the insurance company until yesterday, November 17th over money. They wanted us to use their 'preferred contactor', everyone on the internet and in real life says don't do it, you'll regret it so we've had to fight to use a contractor we trust.

Don't even bother to try to get them to pay for mold...the adjustor seemed to know the mold had been there for quite a while, how she knew by looking down that hole I have no idea, but she did her job and the insurance company won't be responsible for it of course, wrong or right.

Through all communications with State Farm here in Monroe, NC it's been an uphill battle, the first claims adjuster disappeared, weeks later i found out that the reason she never returned my voicemails was because someone was doing her job for a few weeks. The branch manager tried to help out but got tired of it and quit calling me back like the others did. Finally, they gave the case to someone up in the Fire Division who seemed to actually know what she might be doing with negotiations.

Anyway, after we've had over 30 years of homeowners insurance with State Farms we've learned that they don't care about how long their customers have been with them or helping them in any kind of crisis--their job is to keep as many pennies that they've collected over the years to themselves and will argue with you over every single one of them.

If you're just starting out on the long trek of filing a claim and trying to get money out of State Farm Insurance, good luck, get ready to have a lot of phone calls ignored, miscommuncations between everyone in their company and then all the haggling and headaches...get lots of Tylenol.

All I can tell all of you is "GET A PUBLIC ADJUSTER!" Your policies most likely have coverage for your problem. Most Company adjusters dont understand the policy they are referring to. They probably dont know what "ensuing damage" means. My parents had the same issue, SF tried to jerk them as well, but since I am a Public Adjuster, I was able to get them coverage for the damage caused by the access to the broken pipe, and the associated repairs. You are not covered to fix the pipe, but most likely have coverage for all the damage caused by fixing the pipe. Get a Public Adjuster! They are more than worth their fees. Dont let anyone tell you different. If they do, they do, they are not your Good Neighbor, and you are not in Good Hands, and they are not on your side!

You have to read your policy. I've been an agent for 10 years and the policy has clearly stated for 10 years that water damage resulting from water or water-borne material below the surface of the ground including water which exerts pressure on or seeps or leaks through a building, sidewalk, driveway, FOUNDATION, swimming pool or other structure is exluded from coverage.

I've known this to be way an HO3 policy reads for at least 10 years and you've been with State Farm for 8 years...? They didn't suddenly change the policy language on you. It wasn't a covered loss when you bought the policy.

Must say I love the legal advice offered in the last post...and we wonder what's wrong with world when we have to deal with people in it like that guy...LOL.

PS. You have to act fast on these complaints/lawsuits against the Insurance company.

The clock starts ticking on the statute of limitations and your legal ability to fill a claim against State Farm, Serve-Pro or whoever is appropriate.

It is worth a 100 dollars to consult with an experienced attorney. He or She can even just read your policy for you- to make certain you are covered for the damages you've suffered and then advise you on how to proceed.

Again- Go Get 'Em!

State Farm makes it a practice to deny claims and in my situation, Serve Pro was their co-hort. I would use a 5 letter word starting with "B" but won't.

I'll bet that State Farm told you to call Serve-Pro to do the immediate cleanup.

In effect, any dry-out or removal by that kind of company can alter the damage assessment if Serve-Pro didn't exactly report it the way it was before they got involved. Then State Farm can stand on their report.

These flood damage companies get their referrals from insurance companies. That's just the way it is.

If, God Forbid, this should ever happen again. Tell the insurance company that you are just moving out- into a hotel ( I found out that was my option and they would need to pay for it- of course they never told me this at the time ) and that you will meet the adjuster there and then have the damage mitigated.

That causes them to know that you are savvy, that you know your rights, and that they had better get make you a priority to get the damaged assessed immediately.

If you then get even the slightest resistance, tell them that you are going to contact an attorney. Have the attorney's name ready to state before you even talk to them.

You have to play hardball. They do. The only reason for their existance is to take your money and keep it.- Not to pay damages.
Good Luck and Don't Give In or Give Up

Fill out a complaint with you State Insurance Controller. Believe me, if it's State Farm, they have a warehouse full of them but push it as far as you can. Be agressive and start talking to others about it so that they won't buy from them either.

State Farm negligence and unprofessionalism

On 3/23/08 a theft occurred. My 2002 Chevy Tahoe was stolen from my residence 1401 Santo Antonio Dr.Colton, CA 92324. I immediately contacted the police department, filed a police report: case#[protected]. I proceeded to contact my insurance, State Farm. A claim representative took the facts down and assigned my claim to Jan Guirgis in which she contacted me and went over the facts again. She sent me an affidavit in which I properly filled out, sent it back with enclosed receipts of the after market parts/accessories. Jan Guirgis contacted me once again to go over the facts and record the said. I feel she was aggressive, unprofessional, and she confused me with numerous questions that were irrelevant with this claim, like asking me if i get paid cash or with check?, and repeatedly threatened me. Under no circumstances was I comfortable with the conversation. We were repeatedly arguing with each other. Jan Guirgis pressured me for answers in which I didn't remember. A month and 3 weeks have gone by, I contacted Jan Guirgis demanding to be briefed on the status of my claim, "I'm getting around handling your claim" in a rudely manner and hung up the phone. On 7/10/2008 I contacted another State Farm representative, Nancy at [protected], to get answers. Also bringing up the fact that I made 3 payments to the premium with no car and no claim result. Nancy didn't have any answers for me, Nancy would call Jan Guirgis looking for answers then call me back, upto this day she has yet to call me back. Exhausted on 7/15/2008 I took it into my hands and called State Farm Corp. Office and spoke to Travis. I proceeded to explain the facts and the wrong doing, the lack of responsibility to fulfill customers obligation and unprofessional staff members. Travis took down my complaint and said he was going to pursue it. Same day Jan Guirgis contacted Elisabed Ramirez, who is also in the policy to go over the incident, in which Ms. Ramirez has no knowledge what so ever. Rudely spoke to her on her working hours, constantly threatened her that the claim will be rejected if she didn't comply with very intimidating words. Ms. Ramirez is under emotional distress which by no means she's in the right state of mind to answer any confusing question Jan may ask her. this claim has caused me overwhelming stress with signs of nervous breakdowns. I, Rolando Parra, have exhausted all means necessary to resolve this claim in a timely and professional matter and State Farm has been negligent in helping me resolve this claim. My last options before i take legal actions, is file a complaint with California Departments of Insurances/ BBB/ Consumers Affairs, and writing a letter to the CEO of State Farm, Edward B. Rust Jr.

My son emergency road service coverage is being cancelled and he has never even used it because he just purchased his car last year. We have different policies but live in the same house. I used the coverage on my truck 4 different times. Before he ever purchased his car. So he is penalized for me using the service. I was not aware their was a certain number of times the service could be used in an emergency. I wish I was made aware of this when I purchased my policy.

I have been denied a claim on a boiler that was rejected then after telling me to take it off the truck that was going to take the boiler away they Gwen Dukes agent reported that they would remove the boiler then they rejected the claim reporting my boiler was beyond its expiration date and now are denying to take away the boiler as promised. I had property damage of art work that I make and they asked for proof of sales I proved a sale in a major institution for $800.00 and an online gallery but denied the claim based on not having shown recent sales despite on line gallery stating that they were prices I set that is normal also the representative was missing from my case since July after this time period it took from the incident in March. I agree people that deny this negligence are insurance agents themselves this agency is terrible and part of the crookedness of this country impacting people that pay for coverage and find themselves throwing away money for services not delivered If most people offered a product but did not deliver the product would find themselves without customers but these people use denial based on their own standards to steal from hard working people

When a car is stolen be it State Farm, Geico, USAA, Farmers, Progressive, etc they will investigate the claim. If that means involving other agencies they have every right to do so. The questions asked are standard for any insurance agency because of 'fraud' and theft is one of the highest crimes insurance companies face. The questions are not to intimidate a person, and if you felt this way perhaps you had something to hide. You should not feel intimidated and if you didn't want to answer the questions all you had to say is you didn't feel comfortable asking. The insurance company does not twist your arm. they ask you, besides you can always contact your local agent and discuss the matter with them to see if what is being asked of you is standard and customary.

OMG I can't believe the attacks the readers on here have said, What about what was said leads anyone to believe he does'nt pay taxes? that's so rude. I mean what happened to customer service? Why pay for insurance, if when there's a incident you are up for moral and criminal investigation? they surely don't go through that when they sign you up.

Hmm. Sounds like a bunch of State Farm agents read this site.

My opinion is that Mr. Parra- with some allowance for subjectivity and passion- is telling the truth!

I have experienced State Farm and their tactacts to deny claims, to try to intimidate, to promise and not deliver, to not disclose their obligations under policy and law. And I believe to be in very good and very vast company.

The web is full of people who have been treated similarly and hundreds of thousands of complaints - regarding this company and others- have filled the State's Attorney General offices and Insurance Commisioners too.

Stand up, Mr. Parra. I did. And I won against them. Or let's say, I got what I purchased and what was rightly mine. And it was a very sweet victory with all the abuse they'd put me through.
Stand up for all of us. Perhaps one day- our legislators will listen and drive these companies into the holes in which they belong.

I would venture a guess, not being an agent, that if you were asked how you were paid, your claims for your 'after market parts/accessories' made up most of a years salary, or a big part of it. This would be a reason for red flagging an account, you are either scamming the IRS or cheating all of us with a phony insurance claim. Shame on you for costing all of us by doing either one, failure to pay taxes on what you are making, or false claims causing our rates to go higher.
The questions may have seemed irrelevant to you, but I bet you anything when the truth be told, you weren't the one doing it.
Hang in there Jan Guirgis. America needs more people like you watching out for us that are tired of people cheating us any way they can.

Car theft is a serious crime and I fail to see how you interpret what is fact, unprofessional, aggressive and confusing.
Your "demanding" results and "repeatedly argueing" says volumes. Not to mention the investigation by the police, which is certainly involved. I would be interested in hearing your complaint against them.

Yeah...sounds fishy to me. Either Mr. Parra is attempting to get more than is deserved or is just too dense to understand that (a) the agent he's complaining about probably has more insurance knowledge than the average person and (b) conversations with customers are generally recorded for accuracy. I've actually had agents call me several times to verify facts or clarify information. No problemo Rolando ... that is, if the truth is being told.

I also agree with Phil. Mr. Rolando Parra, you cannot argue, demand to be briefed, and withhold information from an insurance company. I seriously doubt that you have "exhausted all means necessary to resolve this claim." In fact, you probably haven't even tried to cooperate with people who are only doing the jobs they have been trained to do. State Farm will not pay claims

Like others I have had State Farm refuse to cover losses. I had insurance with them for more than five years. Auto, Home, Life insurance in all 8 policies. I had hail damage and reported it. First they assigned an adjuster in the wrong area and had to start over. Then I get an adjuster who said I had no damage other than three singles damaged. (more singles than that were on the ground). At first we dropped it until we noticed that EVERY neighbor around us were having their roofs replaced. I spoke to each of the who told me their insurance was replacing their roof for hail damage. My sister who lives one street over reported her roof and State Farm said no hail damage. I asked my agent why everyone around me had hail damage and I didn't. He said there must have been a hole in the hail storm that missed my house. The only thing in common with the houses that got their roof replaced? They did not have State Farm Insurance. One lady in our neighborhood did not know she had hail damage until she received a check from Farm Bureau Insurance, they told her since others they covered in the area had hail damage they had come and checked her roof on their own. (now that is good neighbor service).

My story doesn't end their, to protect me, my agent instead of resubmitting my claim (he told me it would make me look like I was trying to get paid for nothing) he sent out a roofer to check my roof. He called me later to say my roof was fine and had no damage at all. I was in the process of selling my house, so that is what I was concerned with and let it drop. The buyers were told a roofer said roof was fine and asked to speak with the roofer. I was happy to provide the information knowing he would tell them everything was fine. Imagine my surprise when I was informed by the buyers that the roofer told them not only was their major structural damage to my roof and leaks but that I had already been told about and was I lying to them. When I called my insurance agent he was not apologetic for being dishonest, he was to busy telling me about how much money he personally spent on repairs at this house. He asked me what I thought he could do, I suggested repairing the roof as he was paid to do. He said insurance did not pay for structural damage (there wasn't any just incompetent roofer) or leaks that had been let go. I pointed out that if State Farm had repaired the roof when first notified the leak would have been fixed. I canceled all my policies and moved them to Allstate.

I lived in the house for eleven years and had replaced the roof about 7-8 years ago. Roof was replaced with 25 year shingles. Time between hail storm and sale of the house was about 9-11 months. Buyers got $3000.00 off the price of the house for repair of roof and they did replace it. There was NO structual damage, roofer backed down from that claim when confronted and admitted he had not actually seen damage, just guessed because there was a low spot in the roof. (when roof was replaced it was confirmed there were no broken rafters as he claimed). My brother in law works as a disaster claims adjuster, so yes I know that they can check all the meterological weather reports. I was not asking for a free ride because my neighbors got theirs replaced, I only wanted my roof to be put back to the state it was before the storm minus my deductible. I do not believe in using insurance as "FREE MONEY" but I pay good money to be covered the one time I make a claim. Also it was not one or two neighbors with damage, but more like 12+ including houses on all four sides of me and a street away. I appreciate the information on filing a complaint with the insurance commision. I have considered it, but since I did not take any pictures of the roof and have no idea what the appraiser did, I have not gone forward with my complaint. I changed insurance companies along with making sure everyone I know hears our story.

I was hit by a driver with no insurance. This person was driving for Pizza Hut. So State Farm told me to place a claim under my uninsured. So I did. They wouldn't pay because they assumed Pizza Hut had insurance for their drivers. I wouldn't know...I don't have a clue about Pizza Hut and their insurance. For them to assume there was other insurance is ridiculous. I just wanted my car fixed. I am in the middle of switching since State Farm won't do anything for their own customers.

I was offered a rate that i took. We kept asking over & over if this was correct. Oh, yes. After we paid off the truck & put in my name, which i am under 25, & paid 6 month premium, they changed the rate . The agent made a mistake. This has cost me hundreds of dollars . She found a ticket dated 2 years ago. Why did not any one check her for this? Now they will not adjust & admit it''s their fault.I am so upset with linda little agency ! People should not b e able to do this to you. I am looking elsewhere because of their blunder. The board needs to repremand her & adjust my premium. For at least the 6 months i paid for. Thank you m. I agree, it is very poor customer service. I insure two houses an a car with State Farm. That will end at the expiration of the current policies. I have the first claim in over 30 years, and forty years with the company. The minimum wait on hold is 25 minutes. Mine was a paint transfer accident. I was in a small plastic Fiat and side swiped a six inch section of an older model substantial pick-up truck's rear bumber with only paint transfers. The rental company did not charge me for the paint on the Fiat.
I can get no information about the amount claimed by the other driver.

I agree 120% yes over a 100% I was rear ended by a State Farm client, They accepted responsibility. Then the games began. Sent me to one of their shops, tried to rip me off. My insurance had to step in and repair my truck. Then the claim. I lost my home I was trying to buy because of loss wages due to injuries from the accident. All I get is the runaround and excuses from State Farm. State Farm there for their clients only, to prove it they made this disabled war veteran homeless for Christmas.

One day I was driving my 4th generation Z28 Camaro when I got caught in a storm. The water was getting high and I had no where to pullover (back roads) I went through a dip in the road, water got into my intake and the car hydrolocked and threw a rod through the side of the block. I called state farm explained what happened and they told me to take it to a shop. About a week later the adjuster looked at the car and said there were no signs of water damage because there were cobwebs up under the car and the k&n air filter was dry. A week had gone by and it was about 85 degrees every day. The mechanic even said it appeared to be water damage because there was about 8oz of water in the intake manifold. State Farm called that water "just condensation". I asked state farm what I should do, they told me to have the engine torn down to look for the water damage. The rep on the phone even said "by this time if there was water damage it should be found as rust by now. I then found a different shop to do the repairs because they quoted me far less. I had the car towed there and that mechanic too said the damage appeared to be water damage. They preformed a tear down of the engine, and found that the #8 cylinder had in fact hydrolocked and even still had water in it as well as a considerable amount of rust. State farm looked at this then called me and said "the damage does not appear to be related to the water and rust found in the cylinder". They had not answer for me when I asked what they thought caused the failure, since wear and tear was ruled out by both of my mechanics and water damage was ruled out by state farm. I will never go with state farm again and will encourage all others covered by them, even if it is not auto to drop them.
I have attached what state farm describes as not water damage.

State Farm they canceled a retired agent and sent a form letter

I've been a State Farm Client for 50 years without break. I was a State Farm employee for 5 years then a State Farm agent for 29 years. State Farm has announced they are cancelling my condo policy and sent me an impersonal form letter with many mistakes in it. Most of my fellow retired State Farm associates have dropped State Farm for better companies. I was always pro-State Farm, but find they are too Rusted (president is Ed Rust Jr, who couldn't hold his father's pants up) for business. They have done most everything they could to irritate clients, screw the public and raise premiums. I am totally disgusted with State Farm, my former high mark company.

When you purchase a policy, you are setting up a contract for the company to insure you. The reason that a payment MUST be taken, even before the policy is underwritten, is because as of that moment, you are insured. Once an agent BINDS coverage, that's it. If you made a mistake and set up insurance, while staying with your current company, then that falls on you. An insurance company can't give you free insurance while you make up your mind. Next time, make sure you make an informed decision.
Now, to correct the issue. You should have been able to show State Farm proof of insurance, so that they could have given you a full refund once the policy was issued.

I have had State Farm Insurance for over 30 years! I am firing them. They are so disorganized they can not answer the phone, or answer a question! I am not referring to the agents I am referring to the damn claims departments that are hundreds of miles away. I am certain that not one person in that place is EVER held accountable for their work. On top of that the same "central" location will mail out 10 letters to you on the same day and they swear they are a "green" company. Puhleeze!

Sept 2008, the giant storm that swept across the US left a giant tree on my house. State farm took my claim, gave me a claim number, offered to pay for hotel for my family, and then when i accepted the offer, they said they had cancelled me in July. Well that was news to me! While fighting with them and going over every piece of correspondance from them, I realized that not only were they full of crap and couldn't prove anything they said, but also that I had been paying a whole bunch of money to insure a TOTAL STRANGER'S VEHICLE on my auto policy too!
Once faced with these inconceivable mistakes, they not only DIDNT offer me a refund, but continued to try to NOT pay my homeowner's claim. I fought bitterly with them while my walls were exposed to the elements and my wires were ripped down..up until the day their executive manager of the region only apologized for the customer service rep giving me a claim number!
Once I called the number for the US Dept of Insurance, and told them the situation..I miraculously got a call from their underwriting department (who was previously very hostile) offering to "reinstate" my policy and take care of my claim.
Guess it takes an investigator from the NATIONAL government on their ### to get them to do the very most basic thing...pay for the damage that I paid them to cover. Isn't that what "insurance" means? I am still, however, waiting for this to actually HAPPEN. In the meantime, we had to find someone on our own to clear away the debree and nail some wood over the open holes in my house and roof.
Can't wait to see what stupid things they say next.

State Farm kept part of insurance premiums at time of cancellation

was accepted by state farm as a auto insurance holder. I called and cancelled the policy as I found it cheaper with another carrier but, they fail to refund the entire amount. They said I received a packet of information that explained this to me "(if you cancel your policy within the first 6 months, you lose part of the refund.)" An agent came to my home and completed the application and never provided me with the information. Approximately 2 weeks later, I received the information packet in the mail. I would like to get my money back and see that this doesn't happen to anyone else.

I too have State Farm Auto insurance for many many years. Just recently they increased my rates and I was pissed. When I visited the local office of my agent to ask them why they couldn't give me a reason? Im over the age of 50 with no tickets or accidents. What really pissed me off was when they could not give me an answer why my rates were increased. Least to say I gave them a piece of my mind and told them I was taking my business elsewhere.

State Farm deception and fraud!

Agent Tonya Turner office called me with the intent of signing me up for a credit card but wouldn't reveal their true intentions. They just said I could get free state farm dollars and she needed my Ok. She gave me a number to call which was a verification service. I didn't give them any information and told them I wasn't signing up for anything. I spoke with the Agent again who asked my why I didn't call the number she gave me and I told her I was not signing up for anything and the verification service told me she was really trying to sign me up for a credit card. I told her in no uncertain terms that I did not want any credit card from her or anyone else. Weeks later I get a letter congratulating me on my new credit card.

Did she call the verification service claiming to be me and signed me up? She signed me up in any event. I called my agent and she didn't believe me. I told her I didn't give her office employee any personal information. I asked her what kind of questions would she have asked me and Tonya said she needed to know how much money I made. I told her I don't give that to no one. She said of course then she asked me how much money I made.

I told her I wanted to switch agents and I gave her an agent name. She lied saying that agent is a very good friend and is not taking any new people. Then I told her I had already called that office and they were glad to accept me.

Tonya Turner and her office has lied to me, signed me up for a credit card I never authorized, and continues to try to sway me from the services I request.

The credit card was done via fraud. The agent is dishonest and untrustworthy.

State Farm agent, claims adjuster, claim center tm #14 and fraud division

I have been with State Farm Insurance for over 13 years and had little problems until I hit a small log on the road damaging the front end suspension and read bumper area of my 04 Dodge Caravan, with 52,000 miles. I contacted my agent and proceeded to a service first center wherein pictures were taken and a notation indicating to check front end knocking and noise. A week later I was advised that my vehicle was fixed and the noise under the front end were cause by some damaged Strut Links. The repair center representative called while I was on the way and informed me that the State Farm's adjuster would not cover the Strut Link repairs due to it being a normal ware and tear items. I advised him that my vehicle drove fine before this incident and now State Farm (SF) is using this normal wear and tear issues to avoid paying the claim. I was advised that since there was no visible damage underneath my front end that it would not be covered. I advised the repair center agent and SF agent that just because you cannot see damage, doesn’t mean there is none. I have to give the Repair Center Rep. (RCR) credit as he explained how SF always undercuts estimates and will use tactics like this to avoid for paying repairs. I paid my deductible and for the strut links. I then received my paperwork and began to drive my vehicle off and as I did I heard the same popping noise under my left driver’s side and returned to the repair center. The put my vehicle on the rack and I as well inspected underneath the front end, brakes, etc. for something loose. However, we were unable to find anything.

I advised the mechanic that I believed it was a strut and since SF had already used the wear and tear issue to deny my claim, I went and purchased the struts myself and brought my vehicle back to the Repair Center Monday morning. The struts were put on and after the test drive, vehicle fixed and working fine. I advised the RCR that it appeared to be fixed. I asked some questions about the repair order I received from the mechanic since I was required to pay $155.00 labor for these repairs up-font and already paid for the materials. I was advised the claim would be resubmitted and if there were a difference owed that the RCR would cut me a check. I had been in touch with my agent throughout this whole period and to reach out to him for assistance. However, Any time I discussed my dissatisfaction with SF and how they were not even attempting to address these issues it was giving me seconds thoughts about being a customer of SF. I made this clear to my agent, and claim center representatives (CCR) in Bloomington, IL. I spent over $440.00 dollars out of my own pocket to get my vehicle repaired to ensure it was in working order. At the time I could care less about SF and the issues of normal wear and tear. I advised my agent and claim rep. of my dissatisfaction and intention to pursue this issue matter in another venue. This was not a money issue for me but an issue of getting my vehicle fixed and receiving the respect and dignity I deserved from SF.

I took all my receipts in and turned the original over to my agents secretary and advised her of the aforementioned strut being fixed and I was not expecting SF to pay for the other strut, however I advised her that I was not going to replace one without the other. I received copies of the repair order (with parts and labor) alignment charge from a dealership service center I paid for.

I then contacted the CCR dept. and advised I would like to know within a week what course of action they were going to take. I called back in a week and was forwarded to a number and a person named Marion Ashner. I left a message for him and he called my back indicating that someone had definitely whited something out on the repair order and he was going to see if the fraud investigators were going to take the case over. I advised him that I got copies of all the paperwork and there is no whiteout on it and what are you talking about. I advised him that he needed to get a copy of the originals before he began inferring or suggesting that I am involved in some type of fraudulent activity. He indicated that he needed to gather all the facts. I informed him that I paid for these repairs out of my own pocket, because SF pulled its usual games of refusing to pay and I have a right for SF to look at this and determine whether they will pay for some of these repairs or not and if not I will pursue it in other venues. Mr. Asner indicated well we would look into this and see if the investigators want to get involved. I advised him that him and SF are going to be in a fight for your misdeeds, allegations, retaliation, and harassment. Just because I stood up to SF about the perception of how your company works and the perception you give to your customers Vs, the reality of coercion, deception, fraud etc.

This saga will continue and I will provide updates.

I am confident that this is not the first time SF has resulted to this tactic and treatment of customers. If anyone has a comment on the above narrative please reply.

PS. The total repair bill including bumper, bodywork, and front-end repair was under $1,200.00 minus a $100 dollar deductible and the $400 plus dollars I paid out of my pocket!

Thank you for your time.

To whom it may concern at State Farm Corporate
The communications below are in a reverse time frame, meaning that the earliest is at the bottom of the page.
I have been a State Farm customer for several years. I've always paid my premiums on time and I do not file frivilous claims. I recently had a claim to file on 21 foot travel trailer. I was told, without equivocation, that no claim would be processed on the trailer because that kind of damage wasn't covered. To the best of my knowledge no adjuster was ever dispateched to investigate the damage. I recently moved from Illinois to Arizona and had not changed agents. I understand that this geographical separation probably complicated matters, however, I thought the least my agent could do was have someone in Arizona take a look. When I told him that the gentleman at the RV place where I had taken the trailer needed to talk to him, he very flatly said that he didn't need to and had no intention of talking to anyone at the place.
In anger I wrote the, shall we say, opening salvo. The tone and dialogue that the agent has had since then is nothing less than juvenile.
However, I still stand by my original words. If I can do anything within the boundaries of the law to discredit this man, I will. He also has an assistant named Jerry something that is equally abravise.
It was my intention to stay with State Farm even after moving to Arizona. I actually had queried this agent about coverage on a motorhome that I just purchased, as can be verified by the ensuing dialogue, and he said as long as I owned property in Illinois there was no need to change agents. At least I think that's what he said.
I sold my travel trailer for salvage because without some coverage assistance it wasn't worth trying to repair and sell.
The bottom line is this. I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid any and all State Farm products. Will my one voice make a dent in your bottom line. Probably not, but, it is my only recourse for what I think was very unjust and unprofessional treatment.
Read the extended communications and judge for yourself.

Todd to say that I'm disappointed in your claim service on my trailer
would be an understatement. As far as I know you didn't even have an
adjuster examine the damage. However, that reaction is what I have come
to expect from you and your kind and State Farm. It's all about
collecting premiums and generating denials when it comes to claims.
I have yet to decide which avenue I'm going to take next. I can tell you
this, I will explore every legal avenue to discredit you as an insurance
agent.
I wish you the worst of luck and hope that eventually what goes around
does truly come around.

State Farm I want this company exposed!

I was involved in a three car accident, not at fault. I was standing still inside a parking lot exit waiting for traffic to pass. A Domino's Pizza driver insured by State Farm hit a car on the street and that car collided with my car (still standing still in the parking lot). My car was a total loss.

I was traumatized as my vehicle was t-boned on the driver's side. I saw the car about to hit me and felt my spine bend noticeably toward the right and snap back into place during the collision. I experienced the usual aches and pains. After sending me a small check for auto repairs, which I did not accept, State Farm agreed that the auto was a total loss and paid me for the car. However, throughout the experience I was treated rudely and disrespectfully by State Farm staff.

I am in the process of trying to settle the "pain and suffering" issue without hiring attorneys and claiming a lot of injuries. I continue to be treated rudely and disrespectfully to the point that their tone has been accusatory and noticeably attempting to intimidate!

At the age of 53, I have never experienced such appalling treatment by representatives of a professional organization. I would like this behavior investigated further. These people need to be stopped. Their training and customer service practices are disgraceful!

I WANT THIS COMPANY EXPOSED!

My home was broken into on Thanksgiving day. I had just recently switched to state farm so I am a new customer. It is now January 3rd and I have not been offered any kind of help from them regarding all of my loss and property replaced or any help at all. i am a single mother who not only was burgularized on a holiday, but had to move as a result of the burgulary and with the awesome help I received from State farm, was unable to even begin replacing anything! I have 6 sons who went without TV, and video games, and all the other things that were stolen over a holiday, no school, and a Christmas without! I had to move so naturally I had to pay out an extensive amount of money just to get us settled only to find out that the company that was suppose to be there for me is nowhere to be found. Is There anything that I can do/ Can someone please help?

I was still in traffic when a lady gunned the car to cross in front of me. Instead she rammed me T bone style. I'm in Bozeman Montana. The State Farm worker won't call or return calls. I am severely handicapped and now more so. I have extensive medical records to prove fault and police report. He has hidden for nearly five years leaving me with nothing but spine damage arm and hand pseudo sepsis etc. The only time I got an immediate response was when my newly acquired attorney contacted him. He wrote with an offer of three grand. Oh the car was totaled. I had to quit my job and lost the use of my left hand in many ways. I can go on but I think all our points are the same...State Farm is Evil and should be destroyed.

State farms will not pay for my vehecle to be fix completely. They only wants to fix partial of the damage, claiming it was involve in two accident and it wasnt. My vehecle was damage in a hit and run accident and I reported it to STATE FARMS INSURANCE to fix the damage and they claim its two incidents to keep from paying I guess. I have been with state farms for 15 years and my wife about 20 years with only two or three incident during these years, and the incident was minor like someone rear ended me no damage to the vehecle in 2001, in 2005 a fix windsheld nothing major. I have 5 vehecles covered though STATE FARMS full covrage and my home and they will not fix my vehecle unless I pay for two deductable for one incident. I recently return from iraq as a wounded warrior in the military and now, I have to fight an insurance company.

I was recently involved in an accident with a State Farm insured driver. It occurred on a small (barely large enough for two cars/ converted railroad track from the 1800's), icy, snowpacked road in Colorado. I moved my vehicle within 4 inches of a 60ft cliff to avoid this young man. He was looking into his seat, noticed I was also coming around the blind corner, I was going UP HILL in four wheel drive with studded snow tires at half his speed and came to a complete stop before he slid 40 ft and hit me. He was driving an empty Dodge pickup, with worn summer radial tires, coming down a 40% grade, about 45 MPH (way too fast for conditions) I was quite angry but kept my cool and just exchanged info as fast as possible to avoid another car colliding with us ( I should have taken pictures), no police are available at this remote location, nor is cell service. To his credit, the driver accepted liability, apologized, and said he would make it all "right" with his insurance "State Farm". He did exactly what he said and immediately contacted his insurance before I was even able to get home. He was insured out of an office in Nebraska, which was where his claim was filed. I was told at that time that "the driver has accepted liability and we will send a estimator to look at your vehicle". I thought "OK good, finally someone did the right thing"... I couldn't have been more wrong. The estimator showed up 5 DAYS LATER! The estimate was made and is $2000 less than what everybody else has given me. Then as I was awaiting the paperwork so I could start repairs, the Nebraska office called and told me "we are having some problems with transfering the claim to our mountain state office and its being delayed". Then majically, another week later, I get a call from the "mountain region office" and they refuse to accept liability, AFTER THEY ALREADY DID! THen I was interviewed again about what happened in the accident. They were snotty, rude, and totally ignorant to the terrain in Colorado, even though it was a Colorado office! She seemed to not believe my statement that anywhere in Colorado is without cell service and that their are no police nearbye, even after I told her to google earth the location, of which she refused to do. I also provided additional info on a passenger that was with me at the accident and he has not been contacted. We were stoppped long enough before impact that I was actually able to say "this isn't going to end well", before I was hit, this man was totally at fault, all the evidence points to his addmission of fault and I doubt he changed his story, I think State Farm changed his claim to save them some money. State Farm is a typical sleazebag insurance company. I hope they soon go by the way of Lehman Bros, a sick, sick, joke.

I was t-boned by an SUV on my BMW motorcycle and I was fortunate enough to walk from the accident because of my great physical condition. I was able to jump up between the car and bike right before impact. The suv hit me and I hit the pavement HARD! I had a patially dislocated right shoulder and an internal bruise on my right hip. Neddless to say, I'm terrified to get back on a MC. I lost about a month of work and am still in pain. State Farm wants to give me $1, 200. Craziness.

I was involved in an accident with a state farm policyholder. SF gave me a song and dance about everything. I was insulted with the comments that they made. They actually went so far as to say that their local offices that sell their policies and represent the company do not know anything about the insurance that they sell. Now that makes sense? Who would say that about a company that they work for. I was so disgusted with them. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

Valerie - I am sorry you witnessed such a traumatic accident; however I must ask were you hit by the car? Did the car(s) touch you in any way, shape or form? I can answer that for you because your post clearly identified what happened. Because you were not getting in, out of, onto a car and you were not physically injured as a result of the accident (in other words you were not in the car when it was struck, merely witnessed it with your own eyes) you have no basis for an injury claim. All the company owes you for is the repairs of the auto IF, I repeat IF they find their insured at fault.

JW - your post is limited to nothing more than State Farm being disrespectful. You don't tell if you are their insured or if somebody insured by State Farm hit you, this can make all the difference in what is paid because if you are the insured they only have a contractural obligation to pay based on the policy enforced. If you were hit by a State Farm driver then there are also some questions you did not address in your post.

State Farm no rental car provided

My car was parked in a parking lot- one of there insured hit my car in the side -my car has a dent in the door-Its still drivable-it has a dent in the door. State Farm wants to total my car -make me get a salvage title- it has a dent in the door-because my car is a1991 Chevy Corisa- because its an older car -I need my car to go to work-never married-have no children - I need my car-why can't they send me a check to get the dent in the door fixed-instead of making me go through all this unnecessary crap. They won't give me a rental car while the dent is being fixed-it's like I'm being punished and I didn't do anything. It's my car. Why and how can they do this to people- I don't have insurance with them and it's like nobody will help me. Please help me.

Your own insurance company is not responsible for your injuries unless the other's driver does not have adequate liability insurance. You should have a coverage called uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage. If you do not have this, your policy won't pay.

Note to Patricia Smith ...

If you have a Police Report that says you were stopped at the traffic light ... for a period of time ... and the other car hit you in the rear ... it's an open and shut case for any Jury. You'll win.
.
The hospital records, and doctors bills are what counts. You need to CONSULT with an attorney and see what he says. No attorney will be charging you anything to file suit in your case; he will take a fee if he wins. If he loses, he eats those costs. Read the Yellow Pages where attorneys say just exactly that.

Note to Linda S. Jolly ...

The first thing that you have to do is call a Salvage Yard, and ask them if they have a door that will match your Make and Model car. On a Liability Policy, the company has the option of Repairs or Replacement up to the ACV of the vehicle. If the salvage door is less than the "Total Loss" ... you don't need to get a salvage title. You just buy the door. Then have some body shop hang it on the car. It might need some paint on that door to match the rest of the car. Door, plus labor, plus paint is the extent of your claim.

That should not be a total loss, unless the door pillar, roof panel, or rocker panel under the door, is buckled. If you have any other old damage on the car that you never got fixed, those amounts get subtracted from the Book Value of the car.

Imagine having a $10 bill in your hand, and burning it with a match. That's a TOTAL LOSS, and you don't get Car Rentals to go to the bank, or to work, to get another $10 bill.

STATE FARM SHOULD HAVE THEIR LISCENCE REVOKED!

I have paid auto and home insurance with State Farm for over 25 years. Had very few claims. The first time I get hit in the rear end sitting at a stop light and was injured badly. Of coarse, they refuse to pay for my medical bills. The car that hit me was also insured with State Farm.
I am expected to pay or sue them myself for the injuries I have incured from that accident. I have had to have a disk fused in my neck because of the accident, over $50, 000 dollars in Dr. bills, if I lose it will cost me about $10, 000 out of my pocket if I take it to court and lose, or over $50, 000 out of my pocket.
This is absolutly unacceptable that this insurance company won't pay my bills. I have been left with a 25% disability besides them not not paying my hospital and Dr. bills. There should be laws against them that cost them if they don't cover the person insured when it is not their fault.
