Since Thursday, 3 September 2026, I have experienced that when someone from Vodacom calls me, they cannot get hold of me and someone else answers. My wife is using Vodacom, and I called myself only to find out that the person answering is using the same number I am using.
I called Cell C call centre, and they confirmed that I have a contract with them and gave me codes to clear all diversions, without success. I called Vodacom and visited the Vodacom Kroonstad Branch, and they confirmed that they did give my number on contract to someone else.
Vodacom say I must contact Cell C and Cell C say I must contact Vodacom. No one is prepared to assist.
How is it possible for Vodacom to give my number to someone else, when I have a valid contract with Cell C?
This is not the first time it happened:
1. In 2016, I ported from Vodacom to Cell C and Vodacom was blaming Cell C and the problem was that Vodacom did not update their routing tables for more than a month hoping to frustrate me.
2. In 2025/26 I was struggling to get debt collectors from me because they also gave my number to someone els and that person did not pay the account.
3. Now, in September 2026, Vodacom gave my number to someone.
I now experience the following:
1) I can RECEIVE calls and SMS’s from any mobile number, except Vodacom.
2) When my number is called from Vodacom the person calling get to hold of the new person using my number
3) I can MAKE calls and send SMS’s from my number to any network without any problems.
I want the issue resolved and my number back without any problems, because I actively use this number from 1998.
Desired outcome: I want the issue resolved and my number back without any problems, because I actively use this number from 1998
