Obusforme heated seat pad for car
I purchased this item on sale for $24.99 about two weeks ago at the location in McKenzie Calgary. I did pay in cash sadly, for the first time in years. I took it out of the box on Friday, and plugged it in for my 8 hour drive. About halfway through I turn it on. To my surprise there’s no power. I look at it and the nub on the end of the charger is missing. I understand that it’s my responsibility to keep the receipt, but it’s $24.99 and I literally had a $99 replacement in my hand. I was willing to spend more. Plus I had other items. I was told no. So I asked if I could do a direct exchange and was told no. I was not even helped a little bit. She just said no, can’t do it, and then gave me a weird look.
I work in retail. I know the “rules”. Most people will bend a little if someone is willing to spend more. You were gonna make another $150 plus off of me. But thank you for proving that Canadian tire has gone to the dumps. Used to be my favourite store, no you get attitude in all locations from associates and I never see managers around. I do not need a reply. I will never shop with Canadian tire again and will be leaving a negative review on the store that just dismissed me. Again. I didn’t want money back. Just wanted it corrected. Never again
Claimed loss: $24.99
Desired outcome: Nothing. You will likely let me know it’s okay to do the return, but this goes beyond that. This is terrible customer service and I’m over it
Store in the Toronto Eaton Centre
I am a 57 year old woman who today walked from work at University and Adelaide to Canadian Tire. Upon entering I noticed the entrance seemed one way. Once I did not find the item looking for, decided to leave and was told I had to go upstairs there was only one exit and the exit goes out on the street. It is cold out today November 20 2023, I had no coat...

Brought my Jeep Cherokee to Canadian Tire on Appleby in Burlington on November 16th to install my winter tires and got a call back saying there was a nail through the side wall of the tire and they had 2 tires in stock that they could use right away. The tires were 225/55-R18. 2 tires cost me 738.41. Went to pick up the vehicle today November 20. Summer tires were missing and was told they had thrown them out. Fortunately, after double checking, they were still outside in the scrap tire pile so I did get 2-year-old Perrelli summer Tires back.
I Had asked Helen at the service desk to see the nail in the bad winter tire that was removed in the spring and she claimed the tires were thrown out and not available to see. Fortunately, after retrieving my summer tires I found that they were not thrown out and the 2 supposedly bad winter tires were there. The mechanic servicing my vehicle showed me the tire which I now have in my possession and the screw was a tiny little thing sitting in the middle of a tread that was easily removed with my fingers. There was absolutely no reason to buy 2 new tires and no reason why I couldn't have used the winter tires that I brought in. Nothing was said to me when the Summer tires were put on in the spring so kind of questioned this from the get-go but didn't bother asking to see the tires prior to giving them the go-ahead.
Gave them the go-ahead because I really thought Canadian Tire was a reputable Corporation but have to question if they are just there to rip consumers off. They should have told me the truth. The screw didn't even puncture the tire. How does something like this happen? Do I stop going to Canadian Tire? I wonder how many other people this has happened to? Do I have to question all the work done there every time there is additional work needed by what I thought was a reputable company? Really not happy and wonder what if anything I can do. Can I return the new tires and request a refund and put my existing tires on or can I get 4 new tires? Something definitely needs to be done.
Seriously not impressed.
Mike Squizzato
Claimed loss: 738.41 Cost of 2 new Winter tires
Desired outcome: Something. 4 tires instead of 2. Installation of my original winter tires that were provided and almost thrown out. An apology. A refund. Anything.

my name is john daniel farrell, look at my service history ([protected] and [protected] are the phone numbers) and you will notice in a space of the past two years until recently the vehicle history at your canadian tire store on two nations crossing in fredericton nb. starting at the beginning of that period my vehicle was in 4 times to get a wheel bearing changed in one month and each time i was told it didnt need it until i explained that it did and that they would do it and i wanted the part placed in my vehicle to take to the dmv. they did the job for free - on the 4th time - costing your company and endangering my life and they never put the part in my vehicle. they never do any time i ask for them and those parts are mine - not canadian tires. the work they do is questionable and whether those parts are really worn is an even bigger one and personally i find that wheel bearings are important. i have been in a few times for tires needing repair and the last time they failed to honor my tire warrantee even though it was listed on the paperwork with an inspection - it was never even looked at. i had to go elsewhere to fix my tire that I PAID FOR A WARRANTEE FOR! i go in for an inspection then and i am told i can get the work done somewhere else as they charge $25 to change a light bulb. i was also told the rotors needed to be replaced but when the other mechanic saw them they couldnt figure out why - he had changed them less than 5000 k before that. rotors should last more then i went for a heater core replacement. three times i was told it would be done. i was told once that they couldnt do it because the machine was broken. i was told it took a special machine and as such they couldnt flush it. yet i was told when they told me that they couldnt do the work that they could do a radiator flush. how can one do a flush and not do a change in the heater core? so they claimed that the machinery was broken and that they couldnt do the job. i asked if the service center up the hill had the equipment and was told they would take care of it. then i case back from from my dads funeral to find the work not done and no call to me. after your worker saying it would be handled. it wasnt. so i inquired why and talked to the service person (sara). who after a few lies explained that they didnt even have the equipment to do the job. the same job i was called three times on and verified it would be done. as stated it wasnt and sara insisted i knew when i did not. so two lies verified in one sentence kind of thing. i cannot trust your workers to do a job let alone do it right. the fact i had to take my tire elsewhere to get fixed for the leak is inexcusable. especially after sara said it was looked at. i am not the only one having this kind of service. in my conversation with this sara person never once did i raise my woice. i asked several questions that were either ignored or the answers were lies. there was a customer behind me for this entire process. as i was leaving sara addresed the next person and i over heard her explaining there was one in every crowd. i went back and explained to sara that the one in the crowd was her. the lies alone were an issue. work not being done when they claim it is is another one... was their a claim for fixing the tire when it wasnt? so now i have to go somewhere else to get a job your workers claim they couldnt do that anyone with a back yard can. their final reason for not doing the work is that the air condition needed to be voided and they couldnt do it. except the air conditioner doesnt need to be voided in that vehicle. so right now another garage is making the money and basically it is all labor. you folks will still earn the interest on the money since it is going on your card - BUT IT RAISES A QUESTION. your folks say i can get the work etc done there for free interest over two years. i can neither get the work done not will i get the 24 month free interest. so exactly how is canada tire living up to ITS CREDIT CARD AGREEMENT? one can argue canada tire DELIBERATELY refuses work for precisely that reason. the fact the serviice person got all excited at a 7.5 hour job tells me your store doesnt do serious mechanic work very often. the amount of lies tells me that your pweople there are not trrained properly. and the insults from the service person at the end tell me that you really dont want my business. i have never been treated like that in any store. and i wont be treated like that in that one ever again. i can only imagine the number of other people who have said the same as i after being insulted by someone who is LYING FOR YOU. if your garage doesnt need the money, by all means insult us who do use it. but dont expect any repeat business.
Claimed loss: rotors, interest,
Desired outcome: the interest that it will cost me to pay off the business from another business, but mostly perhaps a reminder that without people coming in your service department does nothing...
Winter tires & rims
I recently purchased winter tires and rims from Canadian Tire. When I went to pick them up I provided my payment confirmation as I purchased them online. The gentlemen went to get the tires and the rims and when he came out he had them on a cart. He then proceeded and said that the tires and rims are ready and when you are done loading them in your vehicle please bring back the cart. I am not sure if it your policy as I called back to ask a Canadian tire worker, but I think it would of been helpful if the canadian worker would have helped to push the cart that was heavy outside the doors and also to help load the tires and rims into my car. I think that would of been common courtesy to ask if I needed some help instead it was just brought out and that was it. I was very surprised by this customer service. Canadian tire is a place where so many heavy items are purchased and being a female it is not always possible to load everything in your car yourself and I don't see anything wrong with helping out a customer. I was not happy at all. I ended up having to do it myself which was very hard and challenging. For that reason I also ended declining the warranty that Canadian tire provided and also have them put the tires on for me as I thought the customer service was not good. I hope with this email going forward that this would be something that Canadian tire does take in to consideration with there customers

Online orders
I ordered a treadmill on November 3, 2023. When I ordered the treadmill, the online order said that it would arrive on November 6th. This was a misrepresentation. After I paid for the treadmill, I received an email stating that I would be contacted in 2 business days to arrange for the "delivery" of the treadmill. Today was 2 business days. They called once. I tried to answer. They hung up. I called back, was put on hold for 2 minutes, then the phone call ended. I called back five more times. Same thing. Then I called back in, requested a callback. I received the callback which was an automated voice telling me that "there were no one to take my call," and then that hung up as well. I called the local Canadian Tire who said they couldn't help me. I called the Triangle Rewards number who told me to file a complaint which "might" get resolved in 2 weeks - that means no deliver, no return of my money, nothing until they deign to call me. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING ONLINE from Canadian Tire. Disgusting.
Claimed loss: 1300.00
Desired outcome: Return of my money. Refund and an apology.
Windermere shop in Edmonton
On October 31, 2023, I visited the Windermere store to collect the tires and rims I had ordered, arriving around 12:45. To my frustration, both the staff and the manager insisted that I present an email for the pick-up, despite my repeated explanations. I stressed three times that I had not received such an email, but I pointed out that the online information of my order details clearly displayed my order status as "Ready for Pick Up," along with order number [protected].
Despite this evidence, they still refused to release my order, claiming that the online information was not considered valid proof. I argued that I wasn't responsible for sending the email, and it wasn't my fault that I hadn't received it. The online order details indicating "Ready for Pick Up" seemed like an unambiguous signal that I should be able to collect my fully paid order, for which I had made the payment on September 10.
I suggested that if the online account information didn't align with their email system, the company should consider discontinuing the online service to avoid causing confusion and inconvenience to customers. Canadian Tire, as one of Canada's most esteemed and trusted companies, has always prided itself on providing innovative products and services to customers nationwide, with a promise to make life in Canada better.
Regrettably, the manager's attitude was extremely poor, and he appeared to be indifferent to the customer's perspective. In my experience, his behavior did not align with the values of a trusted company like Canadian Tire. When I sought assistance in the shop, the staff treated me poorly, offering little help and instead creating obstacles for a customer who is also a member of Triangle. Eventually, the staff suggested that I try to pick up my order at the customer pick-up area myself. The entire ordeal took an hour to resolve.
A rather humorous discovery was made when I found that the order status had been updated to "completed" after I collected my order personally at the customer pick-up area. This inconsistency raises the question of whether anyone at Canadian Tire would acknowledge the unreliability of the online information. If this is the case, I am inclined to leave a review online and share my terrible experience on social media to inform others that the online information of canadiantire.ca is unreliable and has no connection to your account.
Finally, I visited the Common South shop to have the tires and rims installed, and I must say, the service there was excellent. This experience led me to believe that the subpar service I received at the Windermere shop might be somehow linked to the manager, who is presumably responsible for overseeing the shop.
Desired outcome: I am seeking an apology from the manager and would appreciate it if CTC could provide clarification on their staff's code of practice. They should not solely rely on email. Flexibility in handling customer information is essential.
Battery install and test
WAS in Toronto on September 12/23 when battery went dead. Got a boost and preceded to go home to Peterborough some 160 km away. We were on the highway when we pulled into the Markam store to get a Battery. The service man told us we would need a test and a battery. The Battery was $175.99 the test was $119.99, and the install of battery was $134.99. The technician came out to the service man and told him the battery was so sulfated and dead that the battery needed replacing before the test. The car was out of the garage within 15 min later. We received no test printout and were severely OVER CHARGED to replace just a battery.
I would like payback for the test and partial payment for the battery install.
$119.99 PLUS $80 which is fair.
Richard G Meffen
Desired outcome: Pay back of $119.99 PLUS $80 TOTAL $ 199.99
Was taken advantage of being in need of a battery. We were some 160km away from home and had no choice but to pull over to Canadian tire store #0399 Markam and get a battery. Would not advise anyone to use the auto service thanks.

Lawn tractor battery / customer service
I purchased a new lawn tractor battery from the Canadian Tire in Selkirk, MB on July 22, 2023. Yesterday, October 18th, 2023 I noticed that my lawn tractor wouldn't start. I tried placing the battery on a battery charger at home and it wouldn't take a charge. I tried putting it on a second battery charger, and it too wouldn't take a charge. I did a load test and the battery was poor. I took it to Canadian Tire in Selkirk today (October 19th, 2023) at approximately 1pm and went to the Automotive Desk. The first person to help me was Travis. He put it on a tester, but that didn't work so he put it on the charger in the back. I asked for a new battery, and he stated that it was store policy for him to charge the battery and test it. I asked him how long that was going to take, he advised anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour. He stated that I could go home and he would call me back, and I advised that I live out of town. He stated that that was the way the policy was and he could not issue me a refund and a new battery without a test.
I did some shopping in the store, went and placed my items in my vehicle, came back and waited another 15 minutes in the service area. I then asked what the status was on my battery to a different male person (Matthew) he advised another guy who checked on the status of the battery. He came back with a time of 65 minutes that I would have to wait.
I told him that I can't wait all day for a battery to be tested, and again asked for a new battery. He told me that he couldn't provide me with a new battery as it was store policy. I asked to speak to the store owner. He said he wasn't there. I then asked to speak to a manager. While the manager was there, another guy came over from service and stated that they couldn't do a refund or replacement without the test being completed. I told him that your store policy is unacceptable. I told him that it had already been 45 minutes and now he is telling me it is going to take 65 more minutes? He told me that each battery is different. I told him that I wasn't prepared to wait all afternoon
for a battery to test.
Theresa then came. I know her as the manager as I shop at this store all of the time. I told her that I had tested the battery at home on two different battery chargers and it wasn't taking a charge. I told him that I simply wanted a new battery and I would be happy and on my way. She told me that unfortunately this is the way things had to be and the store policy dictated that it had to be tested. I told her that this is completely unacceptable, and that from this day forward, I would purchase all my batteries from Costco as there is no policy like this to worry about if there are issues.
He told me that I was free to take the battery back and take it to another store, which I replied that I bought it in Selkirk, not anywhere else. Why would I take a dead battery home? He then looked at me with a smirk on his face, to which I told him that I was already pissed off and didn't need him looking at me with that smirk on his face.
He replied "I can say the same thing about you"!
I asked his name and Theresa and another female told him to leave and that they would "deal with him" later. No one would tell me this male's name., even when I asked 4 times.
Seeing that this was going no where, I asked for the owner's number, to which the staff replied, "Can we even give out his number?" Then Theresa said that the owner was not around. I asked who the next person in charge was. They told me it was the GM - Mick, but he was not in. I asked that someone call me to advise what was going on, they had both my name and phone number in the computer.
At 2:55 pm. Theresa called me to advise that the battery was tested and it was fine. I told her I have no faith in that battery as it not only went dead but wouldn't take a charge. I asked her for a new battery or a refund. She then put me in touch with a lady name Breanne (automotive manager)
Breanne advised me that the battery was tested and it's fine. I told her what I told Theresa, that I have no faith in the battery and I would like a new one. She says she couldn't as the battery tested fine. I then asked for a refund, to which she replied she couldn't because it was used.
This leaves me with no reliable battery, and no recourse for a new one. I paid for a new battery less than 3 months ago, and this is my experience with Canadian Tire? Now I have to drive back into town to the store to pick up an unreliable battery?
I am truly disappointed with the policy you have, and the deplorable customer service shown on all levels. I am definitely going to rethink any relationship I have, not just with the automotive department, but with all Canadian Tires as a whole.
Desired outcome: I want either a new battery, or a full refund.

Good Day,
My name is Lyle Blomquist and I would describe myself as a loyal Canadian Tire Customer who has been visiting Canadian Tire stores for near thirty years. I currently reside in Kamloops BC and frequent both Canadian Tire locations in my community. If I am away and need products I turn to Canadian Tire when possible. I would consider my shopping experiences normally quite pleasant and I usually end up leaving your stores with more than I needed when I arrived.
Pardon the pun, but let me share the [censored] in the proverbial [censored] sandwich. I attended my neighbourhood Canadian Tire store yesterday October 2nd, 2023 in the later afternoon. Very important to this story is that I have a medical condition called IBS. If not familiar with this condition, to briefly explain how it affects my life. At any given time I may have a very sudden, uncontrollable and emergent need to use a washroom. While in my neighbourhood Canadian Tire store this very need arose. I made my way to customer service to request access to washroom facilities.
I was denied access by the young lady working the customer service area. I don’t blame her at all, I am sure she was just doing her job as directed and following a policy. However, I was not interested in arguing or bringing unnecessary attention to myself or disclose the reason my situation was emergent. My condition is no one else’s business and not one I would like to openly share in the middle of a public space with people I do not know, nor need to know my medical condition. I politely explained I understood and I would be back for my items.
As I was leaving the store I lost control of my bowels and for lack of better words [censored] my pants. I was forced to exit your store, cross the parking lot and drive my vehicle in that condition. Hopefully very understandably on your part I found this horribly demeaning and that I was humiliated. I was incredibly disgusted that I was forced to be subject to such an indignity by a retailer I have been very loyal to for most of my life.
I did return to my neighbourhood Canadian Tire to continue with my shopping. Very noticeable was that I returned to the store in completely different clothing than I was in when I asked for access to the washroom. Any employee that was present when I requested access to the washroom inevitably would have noticed and been able to come to the accurate conclusion that I had [censored] myself and came back in different clothing. This situation was extremely humiliating, dehumanizing and totally avoidable.
I didn’t want this situation to happen to anyone else ever again. So after completing my purchase I requested that I speak to a manager. The only complaint I have with the young lady working Customer Service was her unnecessary comment “ Uh oh. Who is unhappy now?” If I wasn’t humiliated enough, announcing this certainly didn’t help. A store manager did attend and I did have a conversation with him. I shared my experience and very openly shared my condition and how unfair it was to be humiliated, demeaned and suffer such an indignity. He did try to justify that there is training for staff and they are told to use judgement. My request was that maybe further training is necessary to prevent this situation from happening to someone else. I believe the conversation was well received after the noticeable shock on the managers face when I shared what happened and I do hope things will change and no one else will suffer like I did.
The trauma of this entire experience and an honest desire to prevent this from happening to another person is why I have reached out. It is also why I took time to research and provide information to people of importance to hopefully help my cause.
I did review Canadian Tire Code of Conduct and would like to refer to Commitment 1 from that policy – We treat others as we would like to be treated. TREATING OUR CUSTOMERS RIGHT CTC values the trust our customers and Dealers have placed in CTC. Employees must undertake their activities in a customer-centric manner and strive to provide exceptional service. Customer complaints will be investigated promptly. Also in commitment 1 Employees are expected to treat others with respect and professionalism. Harassment, including sexual harassment, is a form of discrimination. Harassment means any conduct, comment or gesture that is inappropriate and likely to: Reasonably cause offence or humiliation to any employee. I want to share that in my instance this commitment was failed horribly and now knowing this is a breach of Canadian Tire code of conduct I only think it fair to bring that forward.
That trauma not only led me to review Canadian Tire policy, but also Human Rights law and Canadian Charter of rights and Freedoms. Unfortunately but not unexpected, these huge governing laws were also grossly violated. Please let me share excerpts from these documents. Found in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - Access to water and sanitation are recognized by the United Nations as human rights – fundamental to everyone’s health, dignity and prosperity. A human rights perspective interprets humiliation as a form of violence that constitutes a violation of an individual’s rights and dignity. I don’t imagine I have to explain that I obviously feel these basic human rights were breached.
The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms describes mistreatment as torture or other cruel, inhuman, or degrading treatment or punishment. Quite obviously I feel my rights were breached. Further examination of Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms led me to Article 5 – Freedom from Torture or Cruel Treatment which states - No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment. This Article builds upon the “security of person” discussion in which human beings cannot cause each other extreme harm. Article 5 goes into more depth, qualifying such treatments as “torture,” “cruel,” “inhuman,” or “degrading.” To be “inhuman” is to forfeit the qualities that make you a human. In the context of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, these qualities include “reason and conscience,” though empathy could also be included. Subjecting someone to torture shows a complete lack of reason, conscience, and empathy. Similarly, “degrading treatment” includes any actions that demean another. These treatments and punishments don’t necessarily need to be physical, either. Being psychologically degrading or cruel are just as much of a violation of human rights.
To complete the proverbial [censored] sandwich I want to express again that I have been a very loyal Canadian Tire customer, that I quite obviously suffered great trauma from this experience to go to the extent that I have and that hopefully Canadian Tire as an organization will make it right again. Please use my experience to make sure this never happens to anyone again. Please don’t disregard my email, I am expecting a reply and to hear how my experience will make change for others. It is very unfortunate that this happened to me, but please use it as a catalyst for change, be an example for other retailers and use my experience to train employees so this doesn’t have to happen again. I look forward to your reply.
Respectfully,
Lyle Blomquist
