I had inherited this credit card because llbean changed visa providers. I noticed in my bill that they were offering a 2.99% interest rate for the life of the balance for any balance transfer. When I called, I specifically asked customer service rep about any hidden charges or fees I would incur by transferring a balnace. The answer was no. I asked this questions three times! All resulting in a no answer. The customer service rep, peter, told me that I did not have to use the checks enclosed in my bill and he would be more than happy to transfer the balance over the phone. Well, beware of the helpful customer service reps...

I received a 3% charge on my balance for the transfer. I immediately called and spoke to supervisor loita mcneal. Basically, her answer was we don't care that you are upset!
The kicker is that I didn't even request this card. I got stuck with it because its who llbean has decided to give their visa services to. So, after I check the fine print on the back of the statement, I will pay off the balance except for the 3% charge and only pay them monthly the smallest amount possible. Now, I will cost them money to maintain, in good standing my balance for their delightful charge for screwing me!

Wake up people! no one is out there just waiting to lavish you with money. the only ones who get money are these scammers who collect from those whom they rip off. that would be you. the person who believes anything they say are asking to have their money taken from them. if it sounds to be good to be true... there's a 99.9 % chance it's not.
There are two things I will stake my life to without any danger of being wrong:
1) all of these "fine & generous" folks who are just dying to give you hundreds & thousands of dollars are nothing but rip off artists. it's all they do, all day, everyday, send out e-mails to literately thousands of people, 'advising' them of how much money they have coming. most people ignore their claims but these crooks know that there will always be plenty of "suckers" who will send them money. and they are correct. if you have to send them money to get money... quick - run, don't walk, as fast as you can in the other direction & don't look back.
2) all the people who are singing the praises of those who they claim got their money recovered their money... they are the same ones who sent you the e_mail claiming they have your money.
Just remember this - once any money leaves the u.s., it is gone. no court in this country has the power to force others in a foreign country to do anything. so, if you're thinking of sending any money to jokers like this, well, I have a bridge & a statue for sale, cheap.

DO NOT OPEN AN ACCOUNT WITH JUNIPER (BAYCLAYS)! Don't waste your money or your time with these crooks bottom-feeders. The customer service (if you can call it that) people are inepts and they can't barely speak English. They lowered my credit score without a notification (the letter came after I notified BBB of their scam). Thousands of people got a $39 over the credit limit fee because they purposely lowered the credit limits during the Holidays. Imagine the amount of money Juniper pocket it... then, they raised my APR without a notification (they claimed they sent a letter all the time), funny, they don't evem have my right address and they said I failed to respond... dah! How can you dispute a letter that you never received? Then, they give you the round around until you are so frustrated and they get away with ALL their crimes. BEWARE of these people. Pick another credit card company that will RESPECT you or give you a better service.

Happy Holidays... Juniper already ruined mine!

I AM SO PISSED OFF WITH THIS BANK AND IT'S ATTITUDE. I HAVE WAITED SINCE JANUARY TO HAVE MY ONLINE BANKING SET UP BY THEM AND IT IS STILL NOT DONE.

ALSO, WHEN I MAKE PAYMENTS BY CARD IT IS TAKING THEM SEVERAL WEEKS TO DEBIT THE MONEY, SOMETIMES LEAVING ME OVERDRAWN AND SURPRISE SURPRISE, I AM BEING CHARGED FOR IT! I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY PROBLEM AND I SHOULD EXPECT THAT SORT OF PROBLEM AND I SHOULD KEEP ON TOP OF MY MONEY. ANOTHER MEMBER OF STAFF TOLD ME SHE STOPPED USING HER BANK CARD WITH BARCLAY'S FOR EXACTLY THE SAME REASON - SO THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM.

I HAVE ALSO HAD RANDOM DEBITS FOR 12P TAKEN FROM MY ACCOUNT THEN THEY DISAPPEAR FROM THE SCREENS A FEW DAYS LATER. THIS HAS BEEN CONFIRMED BY MY BANK MANAGER WHO IS JUST AS BAFFLED.

Something did not look right and I immediatly wondered why would the online banking system need my telephone banking details.

Called telebanking immediatly. They confirmed that I had handed all my financial details to spammers. My worst nightmare!

Anyway, the guys at barclays immediatly suspended my debit card and my telephone banking number. Mercifully, no fraudulent transaction had occurred. Since then I have used the login page above 20 times to feed him false info and hopefully making him realize that his phishing attempt will not work.

Please check the https sign before logging in

Please learn from this.

In addition to sending a documented complaint to Juniper, I've filed complaints with the Delaware attorney general and the Delaware Better Business Bureau.

I called Juniper's automated hotline in June for my balance, and sent a payment for the full amount with a note to close the account. I received the July statement with a $10 "finance charge."

Since 1) I had cut up my card when I canceled; 2) Juniper's monthly statements include only the last four digits of your acct. no.; and 3) their customer service line charges you $15 to talk to a "relationship manager" (the term itself makes me gag), I decided to just pay the $10 and have done with it.

But I got another monthly bill in August saying the payment was late. After another attempt to figure out a way to contact them without paying $15, I finally gave up and sent in the $39.

But this time I sent it Priority Mail. And suspecting I might need it, I paid for delivery confirmation. Sure enough, Juniper sent me another bill for September, claiming they didn't receive the payment (due Aug. 31) until Sept. 4. But GUESS WHAT? I checked the USPS Priority Mail tracking number, and it said my payment was delivered at 4AM on Aug. 30! How about that? Now I wonder if they also lied about the other "late" payment, and just sat on it for several days like this one.

Needless to say, I'm fighting that bunch of crooks. These people are human garbage.

Earlier this month, 5 checks got bounced back, Baclays back office staff called us telling us one signature was not good enough, and according to their record of mandate, it should have 2 signatures. But the signature there was always the same, from the only director of our company. Barclays charged us 35 pounds for each returned check, so total was 175 pounds. We have a small business, and this is a huge number for us.This signature never had trouble, even 4 checks just went through the day before. So I asked our relationship manager if the bank made some mistake about the mandates, and weather we could get back these charges as it seems the bank made mistake. The relationship manger, without any investigation, suddenly told us the reason was because of insufficient funds, which was totally wrong, as we even got a written letter from the bank telling us the signature problem! I was very upset at the attitude of this relationship manager, so I demanded him to investigate, in return, he said he would offer me a 100 pound as "good will gesture", and just to forget the past instead of wasting his time! I cannot tolerate this attitude. I am not going to release his name here yet, as I am in the middle of changing to another bank first. And also I am complaining through their internal complaining channel. I will give them a chance to rectify the problem.

After talking to the incompetent customer service department I am writing this note to you. On June 5th 2009 I had an available balance of $25.85 which included the pending charges of $14.95 and $29.99 which is only 44.95. My credit limit is $250.00 On June 4th I made a payment of $100.44 which if my available was 25.85 my balance on the account was $224.15 less the payment that was on hold the account balance would have been 123.71. Even if the 44.95 was not included which would have put me over my limit my balance would have been $168.66. Not 224.42 which the balance is stating now. The payment was taken off of hold but not applied to the balance. I just made another payment that paid the balance in full. Maybe not the twenty something for fuel however my balance is not reflecting the payment of $100.44 from June 4th. I have made one fuel purchase since I have talked to the customer service department on the 5th of June I received a notice that the payment was on hold for seven business days. This issue needs to be resolved immediately I have made my final payment and I am not making any more payments because when this issue is resolved I will not owe anymore money. I will also be contacting the FRB and BBB regarding the company. I have never delt with more people that are most incompetent in all of my life my four year old could probably manage this situation better. Not to mention that when a payment is made directly from a checking account it is ridiculous that the payment is on hold the payment is cash. One other idiotic thing that I have had to deal with. I have had more problems with this company than any other company I have had any issues with. You do not care about your customers and I did not need the credit card I was using it for a convenience an it turned out to be a pain in my back side it has cause major unneeded stress and it certainly was not a convenience.

IF YOU ARE ON THE WEST COAST, MAKE SURE YOUR ONLINE PAYMENT ARRIVES BEFORE 2:00 PM ON THE DUE DATE. ANY LATER, AND THIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY (Juniper/Barclays) WILL CHARGE YOU A LATE FEE OF $39.00 AND INCREASE YOUR ANNUAL PERCENTAGE RATE (APR) TO: 26.24%, WHICH WILL INCREASE AGAIN, SINCE IT IS A VARIABLE RATE.

ALSO, THEIR SERVER MAINTENANCE ALWAYS FALLS ON OR BEFORE YOUR PAYMENT DUE DATE, SO YOU CANNOT PAY THEM EVEN IF YOU ARE READY AND ABLE TO.

PAY OFF THE BALANCE AND CUT UP THE CARD.

I'm in receipt of the mail from Mr. Paul Morrison, who claims as the clearance officer of the company BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE SEASON AWARD [protected]. In which I could receive the informations that I had won a huge some of money.

The only thing I had to do is to send the courier service named, World Express Courier Service, the charges for delivery. On the same I had already paid an amount of 450 Pounds, and in Indian Currency Rs. 38012 including all taxes.

They told me that they will deliver the parcel with in 72 hours, but till date I hadn't received any. At first they had sent me a Form from British Inland Revenue Board, and demanded 1,500 Pounds, but when I denied to pay any sum and requested them to return me back my courier charges, they were all mum. Then they sent me another form, in which they are demanding the amount of 640 Pounds in the name of British Inland Revenue board.

They had not only send me the mail, but also had a conversation over phone. But when I asked for the scan copy of the documents present in the parcel they told me that they are confidential.

Sir, I had already laughed a complaint to British Council in Kolkata- India, regarding the authentication of the same. I would be really obliged if you could take some serious steps, and let me know that whether there is any chances of getting back my Courier charges that I had paid. I knew that it is a great blunder done by me. But then also, is there any way to sort out the problem?

Thanking You,
Regards,
Anirban Das.

Choice Hotels which is a reputable motel chain has changed the credit card "rewards program" to Barclay's Bank which offers free rewards redeemable for free lodging at Choice Hotels properties, in exchange for using their credit card.

There is apparently a "cut off date" with the Barclay's offer and Barclay's recites one excuse after another for delaying the issuing of cards which have been approved. Their first excuse was that there was no application made in my name. A second inquiry responded that the "card was returned because of the address change." I haven't changed my address in 30 years. In response to this Barclay's says "because of homeland security they can't send a credit card to a PO box." That's strange, the IRS and the Department of Motor Vehicles recognize a PO box as a valid address as do many other credit card companies.

It appears that Barclay's Bank made extravagant promises to solicit credit worthy applicants, with little visible effort being made to follow through with their promises. Every contact with a representative of Barclay's Bank produces a different story.

Most recently I've been contacted by a firm called Juniper Financial which seems to have knowledge about my credit application. I have no idea with whom Barclay's Bank has been sharing my information and I'm sorry I ever made contact with Barclay's Bank a month ago.

I'm going to contact the three major credit bureaus to see if I can prevent or limit damage to my credit rating as a result of my contact with Barclay's Bank.

I informed barclays that I would be travelling overseas, gave them the location and duration of stay. I am a barclays customer in uk and abroad in the West indies on holiday. My debit card was stolen at airport in uk before reaching my destination. I have stopped card and new 1 has been sent to my uk address.
After many phone calls to my bank, Barclays has failed to help me in any way financially even though I have been a loyal customer for many years.

1 They refused to transfer money from my account to an account of someone else here so that I can reach funds.
2 They said I could only send money to account in my name over here. (In order to open an account here I would need 2 forms of photo ID a Utility bill, which I dont have and an original letter form my bank explaining that I am a customer, No fax I would have had to have brought it with me or wait for it to be posted over)
3) They can send emergency fund to a bank here (No banks here allow this transaction)
4) Moneygram order. In order to transfer money to someone elses account in UK they informed me that at 3:30am UK time I would need to provide them with another banks credit card or debit card detail in order to pass through security (None of which I have on holiday with me) even though I had already given my name account number, sort code and 2 digits of my pass code as requested.

I am without money here and need help can anyone offer any solutions please.

yours sincerely

I opened an account with Juniper/Barclay's in May 2007. I requested a balance transfer of a Well's Fargo deferred interest account in June 2007. Juniper/Barclay's paid the wrong person. A representative from Juniper/Barclay's said the account numbers were "not clear" so they "matched" the account numbers. Why would they be so careless considering they have all my contact information including my SSN? They eventually retrieve the monies & paid Well's Fargo, after the deferred interest promotion resulting in $500+ finance charge posted to the account. The account would have zero balance had Juniper/Barclay's not paid the wrong person. I informed Juniper/Barclay's July 12, 2007. It is July 24, 2007 & they have yet to contact me regarding the dispute. I should not be held accountable for another's incompetence. I will seek legal action.

I am in receipt of a email from Mr. Paul Morrison who claims to be an clearing agent of England Barclay Premier League 2007/2008, in which I was informed that i have won an amount of GBP 3000,000.00 from the said premier league. And he also send me a form by mail, asking me to fill up my personal details like my postal address, details of the award etc.

After receiving the mail I immediately without thinking anything I filled up the form and send him at his email.

Very next day I received an mail informing me that my winning amount has been dispatched in the form of cheque and other documents through a "World Courier Express", I have not yet received any parcel so far.

In between I browsed the web site of the England Barclay premier League where I came to know that this is absolutely a fraud case and from your site I came to know that Mr Anirban Das was cheated by the same way.

As I have not received the said parcel, could you please give me your value added suggestions to avoid any further problems.

At the same time I would like request you to do something against this person so that common people like Mr Das and me should not be tried to be cheated by a person like this.

Thanking you,

With regards

RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FROM THESE CROOKS!

I pay my bill on time every month and sometimes more than once a month. I am in the process of paying off my balance. In March, $39.00 overlimit fees starting showing up on my bill. They have even upped my interest rate! Calling gets you nowhere and I don't know where to turn for help, so I paid the fee. The next month, I was charged again. I begrudgedly paid the fee again. This month, there is another fee! I call again and the lady tells me that even if I paid off the account right this minute, they are going to bill for another $39.00 overlimit fee next month! So I say to her that no matter what I do or how low my balance is, I am still going to be charged a $39.00 overlimit fee EACH MONTH and she told me YES!

If you receive an offer from these crooks, RUN LIKE HECK!

THEY ARE CROOKS AND THIEVES! THEY WILL SCREW YOU OVER AND UP YOUR INTEREST RATES FOR NO REASON!

My identity was stolen very easily by someone making just a simple phone call stating their card was lost and wanted a new card and oh by the way "I" moved and have a new phone number. Barclay issued them a new card with my name and all my info! Barclay mailed me a letter months after the fact the changes took place verifying my new info! I freaked! I could not access my account as the new card holder changed all accounts to e-mail bills only! Took me a very long time to "fix" this mess they made and my credit report shows I am at fault! Never ever do business with Barclay. I love LLBean and I too contacted them to change credit card companies.

I knew this was a bad company when I got my card. One look at their website and you get the feeling something is not right. There is no toll free number to call for one thing. The website itself, looks like it was designed as a middle school project. Do not, for any reason, sign up for one of their credit cards. I was one day late paying my bill. I have never been late to pay. My payments have always been early and I make a payment every month that is substantially more than the min. payment. So as a result of my one day late payment, my APR was changed from 7.99% to 23.24%. They increased my interest that much because I was ONE DAY LATE, ONE TIME. The ### on the phone ( I know its not their fault) spoke broken english and could only repeat what ever they had told her to say. I asked to speak to the manager and he was just as redundant and he to could not speak english very well, either. I asked them how, if they had any moral or ethics ( values at all ), how could they work for such theives. I am sure they are pondering that right now. I mean if they treat customers like this do they really think they give a damn about them. I don t know, maybe it the only job the could get in the prison.

Dont use Juniper Bank < Dont use any Bank ! Put your money in gold and shoot anyone that trys to take it!

Barclay's LL Bean Visa is a scam. One of their scams is issuing customers new credit cards, with new numbers, and declining to transfer merchandise refunds from the old card to the new card. I have never once had a fraudulent charge on any credit card in 25 years - except the LL Bean Barclay's Visa. They constantly reissue a new card, with a new card number, due to 'fraud, ' they say. This means that LL Bean refunds are not provided to the customer, because they've 'closed' the old card. Meanwhile, LL Bean tells me they 'provided the refund' and feels they are done with the situation. But I never get the refund, because it is never transferred from one LL Bean Visa Barclay's 'closed' card to the new card (with a different card number). After 2 months of back and forth w/LL Bean, I finally received a credit owed. And now, the same thing is happening again with a different purchase. Once it is straightened out, I will close the LL Bean Barclay's Visa once and for all. I also am going to shop as little as possible at LL Bean in the future. I have loved LL Bean and hate to say goodbye to them. But this is off the charts absurd. Trying to get refunds from LL Bean (via the Barclay's LL Bean Visa card) is a part-time job. I have spent thousands at Bean over the years. No more. Just google Barclay's and marvel at the corruption of the company that Bean partners with.

Do as I do: any company that uses a call center in some foreign country does not retain my business or gain it. It is hard enough trying to get graduates of American public schools to use common sense or have a modicum of smarts. Trying to communicate with someone whose native language is not English is usually an attempt in futility and any company foisting this "customer service" on unsuspecting customers does not deserve my business.

Thanks Juniper. 1st you stated you could transfer a high interest card to juniper's high interest and finally you only transfered a third of it. I was late on a payment cause I thought it was a late bill done before the transfer. One straight I paid off your card. The day after you got the payment in full... a maintenance bill went out for 25 dollars... well 6 months latter and no additional bills sent... I found out through applying for a loan you were reporting me as being behind 6 months. After 4 months it is still on my credit report and you company sends me nasty letters saying I owe money and better pay. Well... everytime I call it says I OWE ZERO DON"T READ YOUR OWN RECORDS THREE PHONE CALLS AN HOUR EACH AND YOUR STILL F*&(&^*%* UP. I work hard for my money and making a future for my family. I bet if I took a bullet in Iraq you would still send bills to my wife..***... nothing but

Another comment I like to make. When Barclays writes to his clients does not take on the account how an address should be written on the envelope. They write if the letter was going to go to England while in other country in Europe there are different set up how to address a letter.
For instance my address is Viale Letizia 6, Napoli 80131 Italy
The like to write: 6 viale letizia 6, Naples, Italy 80131.
Obvious the post man doesn't understand this way and I don't receive the letter. Further more if you respond to the security questions they ask for the most stupid operation and you say the address in the way you have learned when you were child cannot constitute a proof of your identity because you must say the way they want to hear and not the way it is.
What is the point to have clients from all over the world if they do not comply with the standard of recoignize an address from abroad?

Barclays Bank is worse bank I could have come across in whole my life. The staff of the Bank are very unscrupolous people and very unfriendly they think they are the best people in the world. I have experience a lot of unfriendly and uncourteous behaviour from them. Barclays is a very bureoacratical bank with a lot of employees that they are waste of space for being inexperienced and not well trained.
I had a bank account in London that was there for many years since I was a student and I wanted to keep it as a memory of my goliardic year. I could not have it at that branch anylonger. I didn't receive any instruction what to do with it and it became Dormant.
I finally riunited with my money and when I ask to transfer the money to my saving account they just could not care less about the instructions i gave and they send me a cheque in Italy at my resident address. A cheque wirtten in English in English sterling that could not be changed or accepted by any institutition in Italy. I tried to send a complaint to the head office but the email address is not working. Is this a bank? it seems to be that it is a bank of third world country or worse it is like a zoo.

NO, all they are doing is trying to get your bank information to do fraud.

I too am cancelling my account with Barclay's for LL Bean. --I always pay my account in full at the end of the cycle as I do with any credit card account. My Significant Other does the same and yet they (Barclay's) seem to have this little 'scam' going; so that the turn around time for receiving and returning your payment in the mail is minimal AT BEST!
Consequently, when you call to see why late charges or other charges exist; they tell you it is your fault because it is your responsibility to get it in on time. --Yes the people at Barclay's are very haughty in their attitude, as well.---They also use the US postal system as an excuse. --I get other mail on time; why not their bill? --It also seems to matter little if you change the pay system and do online paying.
LL Bean NEEDS to reassess their contract with Barclay's and find a new provider! AS these complaints are over 2 years old; one wonders if LL Beans Corporate is paying ANY attention!
Thank you for reading.

I accidentally used my LLBean VISA card (issued by Barclays Bank) to withdraw $200 from my bank's ATM rather than using my bank debit card. I was automatically charged $3.00 by my bank. Yesterday I received my LLBean VISA statement. I was charged $10.15 for a "cash advance" and $2.00 for interest on that amount. I did not know that such a withdrawal was deemed a cash advance and that I would be charged for such a transaction. This is OUTRAGEOUS! Highway robbery. If Barclays wants my continued business, it will have to reverse these charges.

Here is a new one! I did not use my LLBean card last month aand when Barkleys sent the bill there was a $2.00 minimum payment due. That sounds like a sneaky way to add a yearly fee for having a card. noy happy I will cancel my card as soon as I can find a decent replacement. I had a payment that I paid on the day it was due and they didn't credit it to my account until the next day because as the rep told me it was paid after 10 am. I paid it in full at 2pm . The way I discovered this was because of a phone call from my granddaughter. This card is her emergency card while she is away at college. Even though the card was paid in full, they canceled use of the card because it was paid late! Then to correct it they had to put it through there computer system and it took 2 days. Sorry L.L.Bean, I've got to cancel your card.

To Responsible Consumer,
Do you work for Barclay's? This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Over the three years that I have had their L.L. Bean Visa card, I have had an absolutely flawless payment record, and yet they have systematically reduced my credit limit, in effect making it look as though I am always near the limit. There is nothing that changed in my credit profile, no irresponsible use of this or any other card, yet every time I get to the point where I have thousands of dollars in available credit, they reduce the limit to the point that I have only several hundred, which I am sure, over time, will have a negative effect on my good credit rating. I only used the card the first year I had it, but once I realized how this bank operates, I will never again give them any business. I have called several times to discuss the matter with Barclay's, talking with both customer service representatives and supervisors, and basically being told that they don't really care. My response has been, "You do not care that you are basically penalizing your customers who have excellent payment records with you? Why would you do that?" The answer is always along the lines of, " I am sorry you feel that way, and we understand that you cannot justify supporting a company that treats their customers so horribly, but, yeah, we don't care." The complaints on this board, and in fact, across the internet, regarding Barclay's are absolutely legitimate, so maybe it is you, "Responsible Consumer, " who should get over yourself. If you would take the time to read the above comments carefully, you would realize that a number of these complaints are from consumers who DO PAY THEIR BILLS ON TIME and yet, are penalized by this awful bank all the same.

I have read a lot of these complaints and have to say that a lot of you credit card users are arrogant! I don't understand how you can take no responsibility for your own accounts! CS Reps probably get pretty irritated taking calls from you people because you want this and that waived! It's your account and your responsibility! When you don't pay your bill then you get a late fee! Get over yourselves!

We just got the LL Bean visa this year, attracted by free shipping, and have had similar problems. Have not ever gotten a statement in the mail in fact. When I call the CS to ask what's up, she tells me how she is glad to take a payment over the phone, how I can use the website etc., then finally I should check with our postal carrier. Sorry, I do get all my other bills! Then time was up and she basically hung up on me. Very rude. Clearly they have some game going where they try to trap people into missing payments and paying late fees. Will cancel card and drive to local LL Bean to avoid aggravation.
