Patient care
Waspen dental in lawrence ks is only a few blocks from my house. Went for 1st appointment just now. The receptionist was a nasty lazy [censored] and should be fired immediately! She gives me a tablet and says put my data in - no instructions. I put in my birth info and tablet would not go to next input. I asked for help, she gave me a stupid look. Says bring it...
Read full review of Aspen DentalThe entire exam is a scam process
(May 11, 2021. client # [protected]-0 )
Broke a crown, and I am living in a new state. Aspen starts with an 'A' so I went with them.
I've used Co-op style dentistry before, so I figured they wouldn't be too different from what I was used to.
The exam is 19$. I'm okay with that.
The exam process begins with two full sets of xrays: Panoramic and then bite wings. FULL set.
I didn't question any of this because it's how they do their exam.
I understand I'm being fit in to their schedule, I am escorted to the operative suite and wait.
Another picture, done by another tech, this time it's a 3D image which I thought was cool.
Eventually the hygienist comes in, has a look, does gum pocket depths along with another tech who logs that information in.
The hygienist informs me I have periodontal disease and it is moderate to severe and points out the diseased teeth; that I need root planing/descaling. (now I begin questioning... in my head)
I did ask if there are different schools of thought on dental x rays, because I have never had this problem before. I am rather OCD about brushing.
My last cleaning was about a year ago, but my overall health has not changed.
After another wait, the dentist arrives, we chat.
He does a nerve block (I have to have that due to my history with that molar). He places a temporary crown.
Then I am taken to the financial person. I get the low down on what the doctor recommends, the total cost of what is recommended is close to 3k. I absolutely refuse an implant that was recommended for a missing tooth
(I have one implant and that was more than enough).
I end up paying for the upcoming root planing, descaling and of course the crown. My total paid is about half of the initial 3k.
On my way home I kept thinking something was wrong about all this.
Looked up reviews/stories on You Tube and finally, here I am, realizing the entire process is sort of like the vacation condo time share scam.
It's the x-rays they take.
I came in with a broken molar, that is the only area needing an x-ray, not my entire mouth.
They developed their expensive treatment plan based on those x-rays.
At this point, I plan to cancel the root planing, descaling. If there is any possibility of being refunded for the upcoming crown, that would be super. Of course I expect to pay for the nerve block and temporary crown, but I would prefer to go to another dental practice for the permanent crown.
What disturbs me the most is the unethical manner in which Aspen finds other things unrelated to the primary complaint which jacks up the prices.
When a patient says they do not have insurance, that is not the time to find other things to work on and come up with the most expensive treatment package.
I consider myself having learned a huge lesson. I will do my best to warn as many other people as I can of this most unethical dental business.
* Their offices are not open today, I will be calling them Monday May 17 for a refund.
Desired outcome: Hoping to be refunded
Bad place. Avoid!!!
I lost a filling over the weekend and it left sharp spots. My regular dentist couldn't see me until Thursday so I went to Aspen as emergency. From the moment I got there it felt like being at a Timeshare pitch. The girl that took the panoramic x-ray took me to take MORE xrays of my mouth. I asked why. She said it was for a comprehensive exam. I told her...

Totally unacceptable. All I requested was a new full lower denture to replace my broken one. I brought it in with me and it should have been a very simple procedure to make me a new one. Instead, the doctor made me a denture which was to correct my bite. It did not fit at all and was very uncomfortable. She never even checked the occlusion!
I am a retired chairside dental assistant and also a paralegal. I know very well how dental procedures are correctly performed.
After several argumentative discussions, I was informed I would be given a full refund once returned the newly constructed denture. As this was charged to my Care Credit account and I have already received a statement, I hesitate to return the denture and will not due so until I am assured, in writing, that my account shows a zero balance.
Charged for interrupted service fee $550
I went to aspen for a root canal and temporary crown in sept 2019, after 3 attempts at making a permanent crown and the crown not fitting, then covid hit and i was not about to go back into a dentist office, aspen charged me a $550 interrupted service fee, which went on my credit report, for not coming back to there office in 2020. How is that legal to...

I was in Aspen Dental today so that they could adjust my temporary dentures and make an impression for my new dentures. The Lady who was trying to take impressions. I tried to explain to her that my lower partial plate was hurting me so she kept taking my lower plate and shaving parts to see if I was able to get them to fit me with no more pain. She did fine with that. However, after that she tried to take impressions of my top teeth and once it set she then tried pulling it out of my mouth after it was set and long story short I was screaming with pain and she continued trying to pull it out as I sat there in so much pain and she didn't get help. I was heard loud and clear and finally another Lady came to help by telling me to turn left and to lay back and she was able to get it out of my mouth. I have never had a situation like this ever. I just had most of my teeth pulled out paying approximately $9, 500.00. I like Aspen Dental however this should never have happened. It felt like she was literately extracting my teeth without any pain medication or numbing agent. I am very upset with the dental treatment I received this morning. My appointment was at 11:30 however I do not remember the name of the lady that did the procedure.

Quotes that were given for crowns, Invisalign trays and other services including procedures did not match when it came time to pay.
I ordered Invisalign Orthodontic trays but never received my last tray... which was paid for. I paid $4, too for the set... and now want me to pay for another impression and at least one more Invisalign tray. There was a lot of miscommunication in their office among the staff during the whole journey of trying to get my teeth straightened. {ORDEAL} Price...

Last year 2020 I had my teeth pulled for dentures. I wanted to have the permanent denture put in right away. They insisted it was better that I let my gums heal with temporary dentures. They set me up for a loan for 10,000.00. I told them there was no way this would cost me that much so they talked me into a 7,000.00 loan and promised I would not be charged...

I am being billed for services that are supposed to be billed first to my health insurance, then whatever they are not going to pay, my dental insurance would pay. You performed the services, I paid what was supposed to be my portion and now you inform me you don't bill medical plans. WHY, it is insurance. If you want to get paid, I suggest you bill my Harvard Pilgrim plan.
Thomas Healey
Desired outcome: Bill my medical plan. I provided all of the information
dentures
On Jan. 5th went for first appt. for dentures. They didn't fit properly, were adjusted three times and still don't fit. Mouth is sore and splitting. Seem dentures are too wide. Had to wait long times between adjustments. Told me they would have to talk to regional manager. that was about a month ago. Haven't heard from anyone and have called and gone in several times. always told he will call me by end of week! help.
Dentures
I went to Aspen Dental in Cookeville, Tn. in August of 2019 to start the process of getting dentures. I was pressured during the sales procedure. Upon making a final division to finance the work to done ($5, 000) I was scheduled to come back later for extractions. I was lead to believe it be getting two different sets of teeth. One temporary and one permanent. That didn't happen. Ultimately I have the same set Aspen gave me after my teeth were extracted. I had to have several adjustments and religns over the course of 16 months. Aspen has not made my dentures satisfactory and many times were very annoyed with me coming in continuously for adjystments. Aspen added material to my dentures that cause me to appear to have buck teeth. I've never had buck teeth. When I try to smile I now have a terrible crease beneath my nose and above my top lip. My teeth are very uneven and crooked. Aspen offered to give my money back, but it have to return my dentures within 30 days. Of course I can't go without teeth. I have been so frustrated because of the unsatisfactory work and customer service. I just want teeth that fit my mouth properly and look and natural.
Lacy Sweet
Desired outcome: Nice, natural looking teeth. To have my smile back.
dentist harrassment
I have contact corportate twice in the same day, to report the local klamath falls office, I have had the dentist call and harrarss me over and over. I have asked corporate to please ask her to not contact me anylonger.
she called me on saturday 9:30am to inform me the District Manager and Her had spoken and she was to follow up with her harriment. I have stated, I requested to be moved to another clinic, I have asked this dentist not call me again. I am waiting for a call back from the District Manager, however the dentist calls and is rude until I agree to what she say I am required to do, or she will not treat me. She will not hang up on me but she will set the phone down. I AM REQUESTING SOME ONE FROM CORPORATIONS CALL ME ABOUT THE CONINUTE REPEATED HARRRISMANET FROM THE DENTIST AT THE KLAMATH FALLS LOCATED PLEASE... THE DENTURE IS PAID IN FULL AND i HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO WEAR IT NOT ONE DAY! THIS HAS BE REPORTED REPLEATEDLY. please please have someone call me to resolve this issue
Desired outcome: never to speak or hear from the dentist at the klamath fall aspen location again, I want moved to another office. I want my denture corrected to my satisfaction not the orde5rs of the dentist.
Dentist
Beware of Aspen Dental
The TV ads sounded good but I regret not checking the reviews before going there for dentures. I had to pay money up front, which Aspen kept, but I never received any dentures.
My experience with Aspen included
1. "Bait and switch" discount offer.
2. No-show dentist/owner.
3. Appointment cancellations and delays.
4. Staff dentist wanted to fill 2 teeth which were going to be pulled prior to dentures.
5. Expensive, unnecessary "treatments".
6. Charged for "treatments" never received.
7. Lies
8. Question to dentist regarding medication to be used during extraction process was ignored, which could be a health threat to a patient (Elder Abuse?)
Aspen previously lost a class-action lawsuit and another is being called for, but our state and federal lawmakers should take action.
Mal-practice
My wife went for a $19 x-ray and exam. Was lied to saying she needed to have all teeth pulled because of her diabetes. Putting her trust in the dentist she had her lower teeth pulled. Had dry socket and infection they would not address. Went to interfaith clinic to get exam and anti-biotics. The lower gum has pieces of bone that was never ground down at time of extraction to prep her for dentures. We went back three times before going to the dentist at the clinic. She was mis-informed about the condition of her teeth by a dentist she thought she could trust. Tried to find a lawyer that would take it but no one could help. The dentist and CEO of the company need to be held accountable for their actions and the trama, pain and embarrassment they have caused.
Desired outcome: Restitution for pain, suffering and embarrassment
First time appointment
I came in to the office for my initial appointment so I can set up an appointment for a root canal and a crown due to a broken tooth. Once I arrived I was happy with the service I was receiving and felt comfortable with the Dr. After seeing the doctor I was then shuffled to a financial person. Who after going over all my treatments I was like thi...

On September 1, 2020 I took my 17-year-old daughter in for a dental cleaning at Aspen Dental in D'Iberville, MS. I was not allowed to accompany my daughter to the exam room, and after she was in the chair for two hours before they called me into a large public room where they proceeded to advise that she needed "a lot of dental work." At that time, I was advised that the services for that day were "free" of charge. We were quoted a price of over $1, 000 for deep cleaning and that she would need to come back every three months. I decided at that time we would get a second opinion with a different dentist in Biloxi, MS. I contacted Aspen Dental and requested that they provide me with her dental X-Rays, they never advised that there was a $203.00 charge for the X-Rays. They have hired Computer Credit, Inc. to collect the $203.00 charge.
Services, practices, dr errors
Apon new year appts at aspen, the drs there wanted to pull 2 of my teeth rather than do them in repair. Upon seeing a different dentist for review of they said no and yes crowned both, but in 2 hours, not 3 weeks as aspen does, also the other dentist did it in house for 1/3 the price! So upon return 2-17, pulled crown temp they did, set new crown on to just fall off in 30 minutes in my mouth! Yes fell off! Tried to call office no answer 10x trying. Pissed called nation aspen office and told them. They called a back office phone to hear at lunch was their excuse! Mgr said can't put on recording as too long. But asked was front desk empty? No, was reply. Then why no answer, I asked too if door was locked at that time. Finding it funny a medical office closed during hours or no answer! Mgr asked why had to call corp office? Really,? Here is biggest joke, dr hassan did set in, after arrive back tooth in hand said he would use a stronger glue! What? Permanent crown, plan on falling out later to get more money out of me? Aspen dental stay away! Joke a real joke of an operation! I will never give this joke of service my health anymore! Shingle creek office, brooklyn center mn
Desired outcome: Refund damages
