I just had a terrible experience with this furniture company (American freight). Not only did they not deliver my couch after thirty days after setting two delivery dates, they refuse to refund my money saying I have to wait for a corporate check when I paid in cash. The last time time I checked you pay the consumer in the form of payment that they paid you! The store associates were extremely rude and not apologetic at all for my inconvenience and expected me to allow them to deliver my couch today. Are you serious?!?! All the while the "manager's" response was "o he's having a bad day". I am in disbelief and livid with the scams and lack of service with this company. Not only have I submitted a complaint but there are numerous complaints for the same thing!

My husband, son and I went to american freight to get a box spring for our bed, the salesman that helped us was really great and sold us one cheap, so we were pretty happy, that is until we went to the register to pay for it, there was nobody in line so we went right up to the register, the cashier asked what we were paying for, she screamed to the back to ask what to ring up, as he was telling her someone came in to pay for something, she just ignored me and took the other lady, we set there for 15 minutes waiting to be cashed out, finally another gentleman came up and cashed us out but the whole thing was that since we were only spending 70.00 and the other customer was spending 1000.00 I guess we didnt matter, I will never go back there again, and I have shopped there in the past alot, we also bought a so called leather couch there before and within 2 months the arms on it were tearing, they may be alot cheaper but the furniture there, in my opinion isnt worth it at all, I would rather pay more and the furniture last a long time than pay less and have to replace shortly after!

Scam artists
In just one week of employment with American Freight Furniture, (AFF), I saw furniture removed from the warehouse floor and wrapped and delivered to the customer, who had been promised furniture 'brand new in the wrapper'. I was also directed to overcharge a customer a price other than the one quoted; told by my manager that the customer 'would never notice'. Well, he did notice because I wordlessly pointed to the 10.00 overcharge on his receipt, and made eye contact with him as I pointed to the total so he would catch it. The manager apologized to the customer for the 'mistake' and refunded his money.
Both managers at the Lexington store swear and curse at employees. One of them habitually slams clipboards and throws fits like a three year old, as well as smokes in the warehouse. In fact, he asked me if I was a 'big mouth' because he didn't want me to report him for smoking. As a brand new employee, I made some computer errors, which is to be expected. Nothing I did was hard to fix; very minor stuff and the sales were not affected. He referred to my mistakes as 'f*ck ups', and over the course of the week three different customers, one male and two females asked my why I allowed myself to be spoken to that way, and also said it was grossly unprofessional behavior and customers let alone employees should never have to hear it.
After day four when I had a fairly clear assessment of the dishonesty, lack of professionalism and complete lack of management ability on the part of both co-managers, I began to take some notes. I have the phone number of a customer who was shipped used merchandise when he paid for new. I am going to contact the State's Attorney Office, as well as the EEOC. AFF has ensured that it is difficult to find contact information for the corporate HQ, but I am sure the SA's office will have no difficulty. The BBB has multiple complaints and mine will be one more. It was sickening to listen to one of the managers go on about his planned sexual escapades. It was hard to believe any woman would even be interested in the wrinkled little mousy guy, but that is beside the point.
Please please please do not buy furniture from this company. The doors to all their stores should be closed permanently. I don't believe there is a way to prove that their furniture is overstocks, or 'unclaimed freight'. I was told much of it is made expressly for AFF.

in referance to lisa bowman. I do not remember things going this way. I apoligize that you feel this way Mrs. Bowman and when we replaced your set the same day that you brought it back did you not shake my hand and thank me as we were talking to my corperate office together on the telephone? It seems that it is unfair that you can post false things here and there has been no response back to you! we love every one of our customers at american freight and per your manufactures warranty your merchandis was replaced. I will not comment on your attitude or anything personal . I will just say that I still love you because you are my customer and I hope your second set that was replaced for you by your manufacterer makes you happier than the first.
I purchased a sofa, loveseat, and recliner, along with extended warranty plans, from the American Freight in Lexington, Kentucky. Four months after the date of pick up, the frames of both the loveseat and sofa broke. I called the furniture manufacturer and they told me it was warrantied and to simply call American Freight and return the damaged units for replacement. The store 'manager, ' Angie, gave me an attitude from the get go. I fought to move the furniture out of the house and haul it the 40+ miles from my home to the store location. Upon arrival, Angie said the frame warranty would be void due to scuff marks (unseen to me) on the leather. That was the first mention to me that any scufs would void anything. If there were any marks, they would have been from the removal and hauling. She also said there was a spill, which was a spot smaller than a thumbtack, which I cleaned away with my fingertip as she watched. I asked for warranty paperwork, which I had not received upon purchase, to no avail. The manager was rude, condescending, and certanly not concerned with satisfying me as a customer so I called their coorporate office but they would not return my call. I reported them to the BBB and left the $1200 worth of junk they had sold sitting in the loading dock door. Hind sight is 20/20...I wish I had researched this company more prior to my purchase :(
Well, THANK THE LORD for this thread, folks! We are residents of Knoxville, TN and have visited their location here once, about 3 months ago. We (THANKFULLY) did not purchase anything at that time. I recently saw a tv commercial about a shipment of mattress and boxspring sets and called to inquire about pricing. While on the phone, I decided to google them to see if they had a website. I was able to see the pieces on that site, and the prices. After a little research, and the help of you fine folks, I can now make an educated decision to stay away form American Freight Furniture! Thanks again to everyone who submitted to this thread... and I'm sorry you had such an a bad experience :(
Hi, well i see that i'm not the only one who got tricked by american freight. Here's my story from their store in riverdale, ga. I went there to purchase a soda and loveseat on February 28, 2011. I didnt see anything that day, but their told they just got some new furniture in and they were unloading the truck, come back the next day, I did. I found something that i wanted on the show room floor, but they didn't have it in stock, maybe in two weeks they said, so i paid with my visa card, i called 2 wks later -nothing, 2 more weeks nothing, one sales person said he called another store but no one had it yet. So i waited another week called again, explained my situation to the manager again he put me on hold for about 10 minutes came back on the phone and said they just got it in. I said ok i'll be in tomorrow. On April 9th picked up my soda and loveseat. I get home unwrapped it and realized that this was the showroom display (the legs looked worn, a nick was on the side and a spot was on the cushion. Of course i called and the manager kept his story about it came from another store and will give me $20. 00 back on my card for the spot on the cushion. I do not know who to contact this to because i live a long way from the store and i cant afford to bring the sofas back. But something could be done, they can't keep doing this to people. i can not believe what they did they deliver her 3piece end table set and bedroom set she purchase mattress sets also but let me tell u this the mattress sets the salemans showed her in the store they did not deliver and when she call to see about getting the mattress that they showed her they said they dont do exchanges or refunds wowwwwwww

then when i look over her receipt there know price for the mattress sets

I purchased several items including a bedroom grouping and a living room grouping for my elderly brother in law so we could relocate him to Indiana from Michigan. He is developmentally slow so I take care of a lot of things for him as does my husband. As this SHAM of a company offered same day delivery, I went there mostly for that reason. They FAILED to show up that same day. Gave me all sorts of Bull***t excuses and so I said, look, it's getting dark, I've waited for hours, let's just do this tomorrow. The person I spoke with apologized and assured me we would be one of the FIRST deliveries the next day just after 12noon. Wow, guess what? I called at 3pm and was told they were leaving soon. Then they put me on hold and supposedly the "driver" came on the phone and told me he was just leaving and would see me around 4pm. Guess what?! I called the store again at 4:40pm. I was told they were on their way and should be there soon. I called again at 4:55pm because they close at 5pm. Guess what! They told me the merchandise was just loaded and they would be leaving soon. I said, well, you have until 6pm to get here otherwise, I am going home. I waited, and got a call at 5:45pm from the driver who said he was on his way. I said really? Where are you. He said on his way. I that's not what I asked you. Where are you? What road? After a long pause, he said, well we are getting ready to leave. I said, well, hope you can be here in 15 minutes because after that, there will not be anyone here. It is at least a 40 minute drive in good weather from their "store" to the empty rental house we were hoping to move my brother in law into. I called at 6pm and told them, it was 6pm, and I was leaving. The sales person called back and left a voicemail message asking me to please be there. Yada Yada. Same BS from the day before. She called 5 times in 20 minutes and the messages got threatening. She said the drivers were at the house, and they were leaving the furniture on the porch. It wouldn't fit on the porch anyway, and that they were taking pictures to prove I got the merchandise. There is 3 ft of snow in the yard and it was sleeting. I have no idea yet if they left anything or not, but I'd say that dumping the stuff in the yard or on the porch, unprotected from the weather would probably not prove I got possession. They also said that they were recording the phone call, and it would be kept. LOL! I guess they can record their one way conversation with my voice mail box. Not sure what it proves though. My phone finally went dead so I can't wait to hear all the other nasty, threatening messages. Bottom line: DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES BUY FROM THESE LIARS AND SCAM ARTISTS.
On January 15th we bought a bedroom set as well as mattress set and mattress cover. We received everything except for the mattress cover and was promised it would be shipped to us the following week since they were out of stock. Today is February 4th and still no mattress cover. Called last Saturday and was told by Joe they just received them and it would be shipped to me on Monday morning. Called back on Thursday and talked with Stan and was told it was shipped but he would check with Joe and give me a call back. My husband called back and talked with Stan and was told it was shipped today but couldn't explain why he hadn't call us back. I doubt we will ever see this cover. Would not buy or recomment this store to anyone else.
Well I will never do business with them again. After spending a considerable amount of money on a bedroom suite for my little princess the leg on the dresser was broken( they delivered it to my house). When I called twenty minutes after they delivered it, I was told it was my problem. I of course went to the store located in Lexington, Ky. Only to be yelled at by a fat white -haired man whom threatened me with physical violence. Did I mention I was obviously pregnant at the time? I disputed the charge on my credit card, hired a friend and his buddy to return the dresser to their store dock after hours. My credit card company knowing my history did not hesitate to give me my money back. Never do business with these people. They are uneducated, loud, disgusting apes. I also believe they employ known pedifiles. Too creepy!
Well I have bought some furniture from the Chattanooga store on 2 different occasions and this last one will probably be my last. The first time was about 8 months ago with my fiancee and we bought a sectional couch and another matching couch. We paid the 80 dollar fee for delivery and everything showed up a few hours later and the guys sets everything up. The delivery guys even moved the our old couch that was in the living room in to the bedroom for us. They over heard the fiancee saying she wanted it in bedroom and they told us to lead the way.
So here it is 8 months down the road, I'm deployed overseas and I'm talking to my lady on phone. She says she wants a new kitchen table. I don't blame her, the one we have was given to me by my Aunt when we bought the house and it looks like something out of the early 80s. So I send her to American Freight to pick something out. She ends up buying this large granite top kitchen table that she swear can sit about 8 people. (I have a lot friends that come over to watch college football.) She said the same guy that helped us last time, helped her this time as well. He actually remember her, and they probably chatted for 45 minutes about, how much our little has grown, me being deployed, her job and her last semester of medical school. He told it would be the same deal as last time, they could deliver the table to day and have it set up for her or later on in the week. So she set up it to have the table and chairs delivered on Friday afternoon because she got moved to nights for work. Delivery guys show up on Friday around time that was agreed upon. They come in and ask her where she wants the table to be set up at. Show them the dinning room, and they said they had everything set up in a few minutes. So she said she feeding little one, and see them bring in boxes for the tables and one of the movers said he be right back her had to get something out of truck. She said by time she turned around she looked at the front door which was standing wide open, to see the delivery truck pulling off. So there she stands in the front door with the little one in her arms as delivery guys drive off, looking back up at the house.
She said she tried calling the store but they were already closed and she was running late to work. So the next this morning she called and told who ever answer the phone what happen and that she would like to speak to a manger. She was put on hold for 35 minutes while they went to retrieve the manger who was supposedly somewhere in the back. Finally a person, who she thinks was the same person trying change their voices picks up the phone tell her the mangers already left for the weekend, she should call back on Monday.
First off what kind of manger shows up just for the store to open and leaves 5 minutes after the doors are unlocked? Not to mention the fact the delivery guys just walking out on mother and her child, leaving the front door wide [censor] open! I think I'm more pissed off about that then the table not being put together! Either way I don't see this turning out to well, after checking all these websites people have listed and reading the complaints. I'm also pretty sure when I get back state side next month and I see this kitchen table sitting in the boxes, I'm not going to be a happy returning soldier when I walk into that stores front doors.

Never receiving my furniture
I have been in a long battle with American Freight for over two months now. I am trying to get what I have paid for and am getting no where in the process. I have even talked to a "so-called" regional manager who is just as rude and unknowledgable as the managers. I have been told for the past two months that I will receive my night stand chest drawer and have not received anything yet. I tired to discuss this matter with the manager at the store and was continuously put on hold and had to repeatedly call back until finnally I put my foot down and demanded to speak with the manager. This manager (Tony) had put me on hold for 20 minutes, when I had hung up and called back an employee told me that he was outside assisting other people. Tony avoided me and my problem. When I had got the number to the regional manager, he was just as useless and unhelpful and rude. I have still not received my merchandise and am still being told to wait because it is manufacturing issues. I am over my limit of taking [censored] and want something done to these useless employees of American Freight. I am trying to contact people in the corporate office to let them know just what kind of useless and unknowledgable employees they have working for them.
My name is iescha i have been trying to reach someone at corporate for the past 2wks now i supposed to be getting my regund check in the mail its been passed the 15 day spare and i still have not gotten it yet i was told it was going to take 10to15 buisness days and they gave me a call on the 2nd onf April and i still havent got a call nor email saying when i was going to receive my check in the mail i have called Shay which is a manager in the corporates office left her messages on in cell and everything she still havent called me back i called the store (Tony) which also said he was a manager in the store gave me a false date whitch was this passed Monday and still no call back i been trying to be nice and still no call back i have reached my limit and im bout to snap cause i need my money.
I agree. American freight in general is a scam. I have been dealing with bs from the knoxville tennessee store for over a month now. Was told I could get the 15 piece set for 999.99 ... But none of it was in stock. So after picking everything individual I spent over 2200.00 dollars. Still after 8 weeks I have not received all my items. Every time I call they give me a different story. And the corporate line is a fraud as well. I have sent many emails and phone calls and only get a voicemail that never calls back. They need to be sued. And shut down.
I paid for a sectional and ottoman, when the set was delivered to me damaged. The frame was broken and it looked as if it was dropped there were scrapes and tares on it. This was delivered on 29th of July as of today's date I've been promised a replacement set and never received it. I spoke to the assistant manager and the manager. At this point I have made up my mind that I will never ever recommend this company to anyone and whenever I hear of anyone mentioning this company's name I will speak against it! that's a promise!
I am having trouble with ft wayne, paid for and never received couches! been a month and they give m the run around and its a bunch of bull! I want my money back and I will take them to court if I have to~
I so agree we just got a sectional from the store on Roberts Rd. Told it would be delivered the next day...2 calls that day being told it would be here and still nothing. Called today and was told the truck broke down but I would get it sometime today. A refund would take 4 days but they would credit me $100 in my bank account...like that would happen. They are rude and have no idea how to run that store. I have contacted the BBB and channel 10tv about this. I will get something done...the p*ssed off the wrong person
i just recently bought a captians bed along with a few other items from the store in lima, ohio..we got our other furniture but we were told it would be two weeks before we would receive our captain bed...after 2 weeks i called..still not in yet..after a month we went back in to the store and the guy told us next week it would be in..so i told him "first u told us a week, than a month went by, and now ur telling us another week..after saying this to the young kid who worked there..the older guy behind him rolled his eyes...so we decided one more week to wait..finally next week came and we returned...oh course..no bed. so we decided just to trade it for something they had in stock..a couch we liked. after finally getting something for the money we spent we were a little relieved..so as the guy showed up to deliver our couch and love seat...low and behold it was the wrong one...i do not recommend anyone to this store..all the employees are unprofessional looking and acting..and they treat u like dirt..they are very great scam artists..never will we return...
The store in Lima is an absolute joke. I went in there last yr and paid cash for a sofa. It was in stock and delivered when they said it would be. But it was not the sofa I had paid for and not only than it had NAILS sticking out of the arms of it. I have grandchildren for goodness sake. What on earth would I want with a sofa that had nails sticking out.
I called the store and like everyone else I was talked down too, also. They acted like sharp nails sticking out of your furniture was a normal thing. Told me to go buy a hammer and beat them back down? it happened that I know the district mgr. In fact, I worked with him for years and knew him to be a great guy. I called him and all I know is something has happened to him since he went to work for this company.
Maybe corporate trains their managers and district mgrs to treat customers this way, or even demand it. My (previous) friend told me I could BRING the sofa in to the lima store and he would take a look at it. We are talking a 6 ft sofa, not a table lamp. I am not capable to just throw a sofa over my shoulder and walk into a store with it. He then said he would have one of the guys come to my house to look at it. That never happened either.
I finally let it drop but I also will NEVER buy any thing from this store (company) ever again. I tell every person I know never to shop there.
Oh, and my sofa, it lasted less than 1 yr. and cost over 600.00.. It was made with cardboard! I mean that literally!
I am currently having trouble with the American Freight in Lima, OH.I ordered four bed sets two weeks ago and they still aren't in.I even called last friday and was told that they were in.We rented a U-Haul to come and pick them up, instead I received four bunkie foams not bed sets.I have requested my money back also and they told me that corporate would send me a check and it would take about three days.In the mean time they will try to accomodate me with something else.We will see.If it is not in the store when you pay for it, don't get it.
I have been having issues with American Freight on Roberts Rd. in Columbus as well. I needed a bedroom outfit right a way. I told them that I did not want to even consider buying from there if the furniture was not in stock. I was assured that the furniture was in stock and I would not have a problem. I told them I would be back with my husband to pay for it. My husband and I returned with cash in hand. Again we asked for them to make sure that the furniture was in stock. Again we were assured it was there. We decided to put down half and pay the rest when we came back with the truck. When my husband returned with the truck to pick it up he asked them again if it was in stock. They kept telling him that the furniture was in stock and he could take it that day, so he paid the balance. After waiting an hour to load his truck he was finally informed that our furniture was not in stock. He was told that it would need to be ordered but it would only take about a week or a week and a half. I was upset about it and called back the next day. I was told that the salesman had the day off but my furniture would be ordered as soon as we hung up. I tried several times that week to get in touch with someone about my furniture. No one would return my call . After the 4th call I demanded to speak with a manager. What a joke that was. When I told him that no one has returned my call he pretty much said I lied. He told me he would order the furniture as soon as we hung up. What? They were suppose to order this a week ago. I keep calling and they won't return my calls. I finally got in touch with my salesman yesterday and pointed out that it has been 4 weeks and I shoud have my furniture by now. He said that my furniture was stuck in customs. Bull! I work for a Japanese company that deals with customs on a daily basis. We have never had to wait for more than 2 weeks for something to clear customs. I pointed that out to him. He told me that he would talk to his district manager and see if he could sell me the floor model. I told him that I would take it as long as there is not a scratch or anything on it. He said he would check into and call me back. That was 10:30 am yesterday and I have not received a call back. I'm done. 4 weeks is unacceptable. Especially when you wanted it the day you made the purchase. My question to all of you is, why don't we all get together and file one big law suit? This is horrible!
Which store is this? Is it in Columbus? I am having a very hard time getting my furniture that we paid for a month ago. The manager at this store, his name is also Tony, very rude and useless(just like all of the other employees) like you said. He has put me on hold for so long that I had to hang up and call back-Several times. We've had soooo many f*cking problems with them. I'm just sick of dealing with them. I need to get a hold of corporate but I don't know how.

No furniture, no money
American Freight is a big rip off. Paid in full over $2500 worth of furniture. Never received the recliner we bought...over $400.00 for that alone. Supposedly refunded the money back to our Bank Account Debit/Visa card. Still no money. Went by there to talk to the manager, he was rude, all the guys on the dock went to cat calling and using sexual...

I bought an $800 couch 3 months ago and I still haven't seen my couches. Everytime I call them they say "it will be in in about 7-14 days" Iv'e called about 5 times so far and I've benn up there about 5 times also. I'm really getting mad. Also I have another account with them for bedroom furniture but I told them I wanted to cancel it because they obviously can't do their job right. And they told me they don't give refunds. However when I first asked about that a long time ago they said they did. I'm really getting mad about this.
I brought 4 chairs on March 21, 2011, they were not in stock and was told they had to be ordered and would take 2 - 3 weeks, then as the order was being processed was told that it would take 3 - 4 weeks. I called during the 3rd week and was told they were not in, I went to the store a few days later to inquire; the salesperson looked up something on the computer then went to the back then he went to the assistance manager. The assistance manager looked up something then went to the back, the employee said the delay was due to the bad weather in the south? The assistance manager said he was new and he will look into this and to give him until the next day 12:00 noon and he will call; guest what I never got the call. I went back to the store and he did not even remember, he finally called the Warren store and asked them to hold 4 chairs and he informed me that he needs to have the chairs delivered to them hopely by the end of the week friday they should be here? This is terrible customer service. I will not advice anyone to shop or even look at furniture in this store.
Scam and cheating!
I have an ongoing complaint with this Company and I am about at my wits end in trying to resolve it, my next step... Lawyer. Ok, I went in the store in Cincinnati Ohio and bought a Bedroom Set, this is in March of 2006, they told me they needed to order it and it would take up to 4 weeks, no problem, well 4 weeks later I called and they told me they are having problems with the manufacturer and they can't get that specific set anymore, well to find out, it wasn't the manufacturer at all, it was American Freight not paying their bills to them, (I was told by a Saleman), so I drove 40 minutes and was told to pick out another Set, my husband was livid might I add, and they were bending over backwards to try to calm him, we got not one phone call from them telling us the problem, I had to call, he wanted our money back and they said they couldn't do it because it was past 30 days... (if I would have known that I would have called sooner) I picked out another Set much more expensive and the Manager said for all the trouble I will eat the difference, (we had payed for the other set in full.) We said ok, it was a little bit better quality.
Problem solved, we got a deal... hardly... again, had to have it ordered but this time from a different manufacturer, and this Set was a popular item, he said they get Deliveries every week and he would take someone's else's order so we could get ours faster...? (Thought that was strange) he said the other order was one that was going into Lay-away and he would just order another for the other order, that made me feel better.
Well, 2 weeks later, no calls, I called again, what is the problem? "Oh, we have it here, I will have a Delivery person call to set you up with a Delivery Date." Ok, now I am getting somewhere... hardly... After several phone calls again, 2 weeks later a subcontracted Delivery company called me to get directions and it was coming in 2 days! Yes! finally the end of this nightmare, beginning of May 2006 I finally get my furniture, but wait, "Where is all my hardware?" The Delivery Company forgot it. I had to drive 40 minutes back to the store and pick it up myself.
Well, as if I didn't learn my lesson the first time, I went back, ordered another Nightstand and the Chest that was not included in my Set, I was moving to Florida from Kentucky, thought I better get it before I leave. Went into store, talked with the SAME Manager, told him I was leaving in 2 weeks and I would pick them up the day I leave on a Sunday while I have a moving truck. He said he has them in the store already and would put them on Hold, payed in full, no problems. This is February of 2007, (they now opened a store in Kentucky close to my house), called 3 days before we were to leave, it was there ready to be picked up. All ready to leave, packed up the truck and headed to American Freight to pick up my 2 items... they weren't there, said they needed to order... talk about making a scene... I yelled to the customers in the store..."Please go somewhere else and purchase furniture... you are making a BIG mistake!" Manager wasn't happy... well, CUSTOMER wasn't either! I threw a fit and told them I wanted my money back NOW! He said let's figure this out calmly, we will have to issue you a check from Corporate and that will take weeks, "Are you moving close to Tampa?" I am about 60 miles South I told him, he said "No problem" I will call the Tampa store, transfer them your money and tell the Manger there, order it, and have someone Delivery it and we will pay for it. After calming down I said "Fine".
Mindless to say, problems with the Tampa store also, it is now November of 2007... "I still don't have a Refund, or my Furniture." I am tired of all of this, called the Tampa store today and told them I was contacting a Lawyer and hung up. All of this for 1 Nightstand and 1 Dresser, told cost $400.oo. I hope they realize I am making them PAY for my Lawyer and interest on my money sitting in there bank account from January 2007 until November 2007, if not longer.

OK, this is the end of my nightmare, Thanks all who posted and I am proud to say that after 13 months I finally got my my back on my Dresser I bought, because of course by the time all of this madness was going on they discontinued making my furniture set so they couldn't get it anymore, and just yesterday almost 14 months they found a nightstand from across the country and had it shipped to my house, (not to mention the 100 phone calls and threats to them, unreturned phone calls, and just plain disgust) now I have found my dresser at Badcocks furniture in Florida went and ordered it, payed for it in full and had it the next day! Whew...I was worried, I love Badcocks, no problems, no hassle and I FINALLY HAVE MY COMPLETE BEDROOM SET, no thanks to American Freight. I HATE THAT COMPANY, WILL NEVER BUY THERE AGAIN AND I DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM PURCHASING ANYTHING THERE UNLESS YOU TAKE IT OUT THE DOOR THE SAME DAY, NO IF'S, AND'S OR BUT'S! Sorry to hear the other horror stories, mine was 13 months long and finally over.
I Ordered furniture on a certain date and they did not have it when I went to pick it up today and didn't know when it would be in and wanted me to take something else. When I requested my money back they refused and even talked down to me and tried to belittle me. They wanted to give me an in store credit. Determined to get my money back and will never even buy a cushion from this company. I will tell 1000+ people not to patronize this company.

I have set up a petition after I seen that I wasn't the only one scammed by this company.I would like to present to as many offices as I can, starting with the Attorney Generals office.Please, stand together.If no one does anything, they continue to rip decent hard working people.
We went into the Columbus East store right after getting a sales ad to look at the King size mattress sets and were told that the only ones in stock were several hundred dollars above the $500-$600 we planned on spending because all the ones on sale were “out of stock and would not be in for a few weeks. So I said to my husband “we’ll just get the recliner…” and the salesman quickly interrupted our conversation to rudely tell us that they were out of all the recliners to and they would take a week to get. I was taken back and “said you don’t have the recliners either? And the ad isn’t even three days old?” he rudely replied “Like I JUST TOLD YOU, they will take a week to get in!” The salesman not only looked and dressed with a serious lack of professionalism, his personal hygiene left quite a bit to be desired. My husband and I just left and do not plan to return to American Freight or any of its affiliates. By the way, the store website also requires you to give your e-mail and phone number in order to contact them with a complaint. I can see the name and maybe even the e-mail, but a phone number too. Not OK.

I purchased a sectional, that was supposed to be delivered on 3/13/16. I called them to confirm it and was told to expect the delivery on 3/23/16. Well, I just got off the phone with them. I was told it would be tomorrow and I told him that it was originally supposed to be on the 13th, and that is what we were told...and that we shouldn't have to wait for almost a month. I told him we're giving them until tomorrow 3/23. If it is not delivered, we will be demanding our money back. This store is in Amherst, NY.
We also have bought furniture from this company. We bought a couch, love seat & recliner. Our furniture was deliver in the bad of a pick up truck in the rain so it was wet, then as soon as we pulled the handle on the recliner it broke, we had a warrenty on it but it took 2 months for them to replace our chair the 2 weeks later it broke again & we were told too bad. I know we'll never buy from them again. I agree bad business!
Well my name is mary and i would like to say that i really enjoyed my shopping at warehouse #72 and my sale rep. Rodney and the crew that was there on this day august 5 i went and got my king size bed. Everyone were so friendly and kind and respectful and i will go back again and will tell other to shop there #72 have really great worker and they make you matter and i just love rodney a great young man. date told of delivery of furniture by district/general maneager also product being set up by delivery man. manager/said glass was not in but had glass that she said i would like, didn't come on delivery. all this was said n done in a timely matter of short of 5 weeks.

Typical bait and switch sales tactics with lots of grief and aggravation thrown in for good measure. Also, our experience echoes that of many others I've read here. We were sent a flyer with nice looking, seemingly cheap furniture--every poor person's dream. The bedroom sets looked great and the prices quite reasonable, so we made the 45 minute drive to the store. Once there, I saw that these bedroom sets were made of cheap press board with a fake laminate. I should have known better. We were immediately directed toward more expensive, more presentable stuff. Even the most of the more expensive sets had substandard, press board backings and fake wood laminate. I thought to myself that I'd just as soon go to Walmart if I wanted furniture of that caliber. The sales clerk also pointed us toward a set that had a cracked headboard and was scratched up, for over $600. However, I did find one set for more than I intended on paying because it was one of the few I could afford that was made of solid wood. The 'free mattress' advertised in the flyer they use to get people's ### in the store with that came with the set was about 3 inches thick--not enough for my cat to sleep comfortably--so I decided to hold on to my old one and they could keep it. Most of the bedroom sets I saw in the flyer and on the web site weren't even available at the store, either, and there was a limited selection of what was available in our price range.
To make a long story short, I paid for the more expensive set and was told they'd have to order it and it would be available in 4 weeks time. Fine. They'd call when everything came in to set up a delivery date. 4 weeks came and went and I got no call, so I inquired and they told me that that set was 'discontinued' after being put on hold so long I had to call back (how nice of them to let me know in a timely manner) and we could come in to pick another set out that was in stock. He said we could get a set for $100 more, which I acknowledged and appreciated. I found a set that was more expensive, but made with the same cheap materials as the others I looked at. A refund, they said, was out of the question. So I took that set, which was not really what I wanted, but better than a blank. I also want to add that this stuff is highly overpriced for the quality of materials that go into making it. I couldn't afford the other night stand, since they wanted $200 for it.
The day they delivered the set they told us that the chest was all 'scratched' up and a new one would be ordered once again. So that took another week of waiting. I was told it would be delivered on that Thursday and we waited until 11 p.m. They never showed. The next day it was delivered, with no explanation or apology as to why they didn't bring it when they said they would. Reading some of the stories here, I feel fortunate to have even gotten all the furniture at all. I can't see how this place manages to stay in business, so aggravating was the shopping experience. I would never buy furniture from them again.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.

Madison Indiana store, Linda is great but the extended warranty is a joke.
They cannot come until Jan 30 and said if he cannot fix it, he will not be in area for another month! Wow

I bought a new stackable washer and dryer for $1600 at the Nashville location and the washer doesn’t work. They will not let me return it for a refund or replace it.
My husband and I just purchased a living room suit, end tables and 2 lamps from american freight. They saleswoman told us that our furniture would be delivered the same day.It is 8:57P.M. haven't seen any furniture. We had been waiting since 2:00 P.M. I had called the store twice and asked about my furniture. All I was told was the drivers are on the truck and they hung up immediately. I feel like they could have called and let us know that they couldn't deliver it today or whatever the reason. I ads are false. People like this shouldn't be allowed to do business like this and treat people like this. We threw away our old furniture because we believed them when they said it would be delivered the same day. I will never buy anything else from them again and I will not advise anyone else to buy from them. I should had went with my gut feeling when I first there. Something just didn't seem right about the customer service. No one was really friendly.
On April 22nd, 2011, I complete all of my payments (totaling 213.00) that were required to obtain my furniture (American Freight stock item: Collin Futon item# 5290COCM)from their lay-a-way. On that day, the sales representative informed me there was an item in stock and I could come and pick it up the same day. When I returned, later that evening to pick up the item, one of the deliverers rolled out the furniture and prepared to load it into the vehicle. Before he could finish loading, the sales representative informed that I would not be able to take the item home because someone else paid for that exact item and there were "technically" none in stock. One of the previous employees who finalized the sale with another customer did not update the system correctly, resulting in a false expectation of their business obligation towards the consumer. Upon the information she relayed to me. I left without my purchased item. I called that same day to see if there was any alternative we could seek in order to retrieve the item from an alternate store or when an order would be placed to get the item in stock at their location. She then advised I had 30 days to wait in order to see if they would get the item on a truck delivery. I have waited 4 weeks and they have not made an attempt to call to keep me updated. I, then, visited the facility on May 4th only to find out the item was still not in stock and they had no idea when a truck would deliver. As of May 17th, I called to receive a reimbursement. The representative who answered the phone advised me that the manager will call me later. The manager never called. I called back May 18th and spoke with an assistant manager and he only advised that someone else will call me. I have not received my item nor a refund. I've been more than patience and inconvenienced due to their unethical business practices.
So... I've been inconvenienced. I'm a college student who worked hard to come up with the money to purchase the item and in the long run was stiffed. I did report to BBB though.
The comments stated above, for the majority, are poorly written. I can't be convinced of actions by American Freight due to not being able to understand the comments left by illierate individuals. Does the mattress have a Manufacture's warranty? Yes. When you buy a poorly built toy from Wal-Mart, is it Wal-Marts fault? No. Strange.
