Amazon is now requiring a phone number to sign up, however it keeps telling me my phone number is already in use despite having just got a new number. This was weeks ago before my phone exploded. I tried telling Amazon that that's not my account but they keep telling me "oh well" and not letting me make an account. I have gone through 5 different numbers to attempt to get an amazon account and all of them were already in use.
Claimed loss: At least $100 in phone subscriptions
Desired outcome: Remove the requirement of a phone number when making an account, stop detecting suspicious activity when nothing is going on, and delete numbers from accounts that clearly haven't been used in a long time
