ABSA Bank debiting my acc. without permission / informing me

Absa credit card: today at 13h00 I contacted absa credit card division enquiring about my account. I have been retrenched in june 2013 and contacted absa to inform them. I was instructed to contact the credit life insurance department to submit my claim. They have being paying my account but only for 4 months. I explained my situation to the consultant and was told I had to inform them too (Which I did in july 2013). Today I was told to forward my retrenchment letter, certified id copy and my expenses to [url removed] and they will view my acc. And get back to me with an answer. At 16h42 I received an sms saying my sav/cheq account was debited for my credit card. First of all I did not instruct them to debit my acc., secondly I was told the acc. Will first be reviewed and I will be contacted with the outcome. I have no means of an income and the money in my account is for my bond, insurances, etc. Payments that must be paid at the end of the month. I have no income coming in and only my package I received after my retrenchment that must last until I find a job. Is absa gong to keep the roof over me and my families head? I have been an absa client for years (About to change)

ABSA Bank bad attitudes and no communication skills

Absa credit life: in june 2013 I was retrenched and sent all my documents to credit life claims with regards to my absa c/c. Nobody told me the account will only be covered for 4months. I have an absa c/c for years and religiously pay a credit life premium every month. If I have a credit card for over 10years and pay every month r103.59 for 10 years why do they only pay your acc. For 4months? What happens to the balance of all your premiums paid? Surely it will not amount to 4months cover? Contacted the call centre today explained to the consultant that I was not aware of this 4month policy and i'm still unemployed and was told: "well we only pay for 4months you must contact the credit card department and sort it out with them." rude and very bad attitude. I would like to know why I had to pay for all those years and only got covered for 4months? If your only going to be covered for 4months why not only pay a premium for 4months cover? I have been an absa client for years, I had a std c/c and with my retrenchment they settled my total in full (I don't even bank with them). All my acc are with absa: sav., cheq, c/c, loan, vehicle finance everything and this is how i'm treated. Pathetic, goodbye absa

ABSA Bank flexi reserve on home loan

I made an application for a second loan at absa to expand my home to the amount of r350000 end of november. Absa is also the holder of the first bond. The interest rate 8.5 wasn't acceptable and I requested a better rate on november 29th. According to the attorneys it was 8.5 % + 2.3 % and not acceptable at all. I also mentioned that I might get quotes from other financial institutions as well. Because it was near year end I notified absa that I will not use the facility. There was a flexi amount of r20000 on my current home loan. They ad this to the current loan. After cancelled the application I requested them to re-instate the flexi amount available as prior to the application. I made various inquiries to correct this without any success. On 17/12 I received a mail from absa that the application is cancelled and the flexi amount will be available. It was arranged with david ref: 1372729. Till now the flexi reserve is still not available.

ABSA Bank shortfall of funds paid out

My husband worked for Vusela and he received his Provident Fund Payout, but it
does not correspond with the contributions he made and what the company contributed. According to his payslips the contributions calculated to R14267-00, but he only got R11226-00 paid out. What about the interest and the shortfall of money paid to him.
We asked for a breakdown to be e-mailed to us and an explanation for the shortfall.
No correspondence had been forthcoming.
Please advise
My husband's ID no is [protected]

ABSA Bank deceived by consultant

Re: [protected]
Account no: mahlang12022189 ([protected])
On late january 2012 I approached absa mthatha central for finance. The consultant there (Welile mbasa) told me I was not approved for a car. A week later I was told by welile mbasa that I have now been approved of finance of r104000. I went to him and he showed me the cars I can buy, I then chose a volvo s40.
Welile arrived at my house with a man I assumed to be from the dealer called siya mbana (Id no [protected]). They showed me a 2007 peugeot 407 2.0 st comfort claiming that the volvo s40 was involved in an accident from johannesburg when it was being delivered to me. I saw the car but it was due for a service (Brakes to be repaired, small window to be replaced and the display screen to be replaced) which they promise to do immediately. The service history record and spare key were also promised to be delivered by these two gentlemen.
The following day I was called by the dealer (Robs car sales, 73 old transkei road, east london, tel no: [protected] cell no: [protected]) to arrange finance with me through mfc, and I assumed that they meant mfc absa because it was mthatha central absa consultant that contacted me. I agreed and the following day I received a call from the dealer telling me to go to nedbank where I would ask for the manager who will refer me to the right people so I can sign the documents. After signing documents, for a week I was still waiting for a car. I then contacted a dealer by phone and also wrote a letter to them asking about this and their response was to go fetch the car by welile mbasa at absa mthatha central. I only realized when I got there that the car had not been fix/serviced at all. I was instructed by the dealer to take and keep the car until siya take it for repairs/service.
A week later siya came to my house and took the car for service and returned it a week later and said it’s been serviced. Small window was indeed put, only front wheel brakes were changed and the screen was not serviced. The spare key and service book was never given to me as promised. He then left the car claiming that he will come back to sort out all other outstanding problems. He was never seen again. Two months later the paint in the car started peeling off.
Below are the problems I have encountered on the car since july 2012 (Please note that I have attached supporting documents)
•had a faulty oil cooler (July 2012)
•started overheating (Which would result in a car switching itself off) (July 2012)
•radiator fan broke (February 2013), actual cost to fix was r5500 which warranty paid only r2000 and the rest was covered by me.
•I put brake pads since there was none. (August 2012)
•the head globes will burn now and then
•thermostat and the battery have been put into the car and cost r4500 (05 november 2013)
•currently the car is by the dealer peugeot east london (Not robs) awaiting repairs (Blown head gasket due to the water cap that came off) which would cost r19938.38.
I am writing to you so you can assist and show me the way forward because the car is giving me problems since that second month it started pealing. Could I ask you to please look at these matter with urgency because I am willing to cooperate but this car is costly more than what it’s worth and it only been 19 months since I had it.
It’s impossible for me to spend so much on this car while also paying monthly installments (R3670.14) plus r1400 on insurance.
I look forward to hearing from you shortly and thank you in advance for your assistance.
Yours sincerely
T. Mahlangu [protected]

ABSA Bank bond transfer

I have had a bond with Absa for 8years and when I decided to sell my property I heard about tranferring your bond from the old to the next. Thought this was great! As I was pleased kith the idea of keeping my bond with Absa. Instead it has been more trouble than anything else. As I have to do all the call no one returns my calls and I'm am now 1 day away from my current bond being shut and when I contact absa bank about my concerns, I get told if my bond shuts then I will have toapply for a new bond which is rather frastrating waiting for 10 days and the being told I might have to re apply. I can't understand what the hold up is? And why was I not told the first day wen I raised my concern about number of days my current bond being shut. I can not believe how much the service has dropped at Absa bank! Seriously thinking of changing my bank.

ABSA Bank absa failing to recover title deed

Absa bank Is has been recovering the title deed of the property that I bough through Absa for a year.i started to sell the property since 2011 at the last stage of registration the title deed was lost in office of title deed.the attorneys were appointed to lodge it and follow the recovery process Geoffrey Sutherns Attorneys (attorneys attending to the replacement) it took 6 months.after they claimed that I has been recovered AbSA disapproved the bond of the buyer.then the buyer was fed up and agree then he left the property because he was renting.i accumulated more expenses for four moths paying two bonds because of ABSA.the property was back to the market again.i managed to secure another buyer at the last stage agin of registration we were told that the title deed is lost AGAIN.Then Absa is appointing another attorneys to do a replacement process it's a second year now.i have accumulated almost R100000 because of ABSA.
I reported this bad service with Hello Peter four times and absa keep on saying we are investigating

I am requesting top management of ABSA to please save me from this pain just to attend to this problem and let the property be registered to this new buyer.I AM HUMBLE REQUESTING TOP ABSA MANAGEMENT TO TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND STOP THIS HELPLESS CONSUMER BULLYING STYLE.I REMOVED ALL MY BUSINESS DEALINGS WITH ABSA ALTHOUGH THE RELATIONSHIP STARTED SINCE I WAS A STUDENT IN 1992. But now I will never bank with Absa even if there are no banks on earth I rather put my money under mantras the bank that cannot respect can't value it's loyal clients I mean value clients.i requested my kids to bank with other banks but not with Absa.i will continue to preach this gospel that my friends and relatives should stop banking with Absa because of your attitude of arrogance in dealing with clients. I will take this to social media because it seems as if hello Peter is not winning this Battle I will take it with social media that might hear HOW RUDE IS ABSA IN REWARDING ITS LOYAL CLIENTS

ABSA Bank unauthorised transfers

Absa saw it fit to transfer money from my savings account to my loan account and credit card account without consent from myself. they have basically transferred all the money I had left for the whole month, Iam left with no money and it is not even the 1st of the month yet. They transferred R1771.72 to my loan account and R1000.00 to my credit card. who gave them the right to go into my personal savings account and just transferring as they see fit? They caused me a horrible experience as I am a single mother is Absa going to feed my child this month? My medical aid payment is going to be returned are ABSA going to be held responsible if something God forbid happens and I am not covered? This is after numerous attempts to get some help to transfer this money back into my savings account. The one lady just laughed at me and said there is nothing you can do I transferred that money form you account and closed it I will only send you a statement to say your account is closed now and that Absa does not need any authorization and they don't need anything in writing from me to just transfer from my savings account. I phoned more than R100.00 airtime finished I logged face book complaints, Hello Peter complaint NO ONE AT ABSA IS RESPONDING. I am asking who is held responsible for they taking my whole months money left?

ABSA Bank authorisation of irregular activity on body corporate account

My name is Vanessa Hudson, my husband and I have recently(September 2012) purchased a unit in a small complex. We are having issues with our so called body corporate which is made up of 1 person acting in his personal capacity. The body corporate account is held with absa bank. I know according to the law there has to be 2 signatures signing of payments on such account. And an EFT service is not allowed. When I called absa bank they confirmed that there has to be 2 signatures on such an account and that EFT is not allowed. The 1person that has access to this account makes payment via EFT and transacts on the account with only his signature. ABSA doesn't question it or inform the other owners. There is only 3 other owners since the complex comprises of 4 units. Please could you provide direction or advice in any form as to what can be done about this irregular practices. Thank you. Help needed urgently please.

ABSA Bank account fica'ed now frozen

This business account was FICA’ed again on 26 November 2012 – the excuse being that the ABSA warehouse where FICA documents were stored had burnt down and accounts had to be re-FICA’ed. When I tried paying a new beneficiary on this account today it wasn’t working so I phoned the ABSA Call Center and was informed that the account was frozen as it hadn’t been FICA’ed (no attempt has been made to contact me and the account has been FICA'ed). What is the excuse this time?

ABSA Bank took money out of my account

I have returned a car to Bankfin 14 years ago. No letter of any correspondence was send to me regarding an amount still outstanding. I was in hospital for a week with a knee injury and my husband with a neck injury. When we returned from the hospital we have discovered that Absa took R 13 000 out of our bank account. No explanation was given and we had to wait until today. They refuse to give our monies back. They can not give us any proof that we were aware of the outstanding funds in 14 years. They violated the Credit Act and our confidence in them. We want our monies paid back into our account. We can not pay my rent know and we can not survive a month. No body wants to help us. I we were notified about the outstanding debt we would have made arrangements. We never gave Absa the authority to take any monies out of our account.

ABSA Bank retained balances

I have a complain in regards to the reserved/retained balances on ABSA accounts. Since the chip cards was introduced, there are constant problems on my account, and the reserved balances and available balances is not a true reflections of what is going on on the account. I get different amounts on the sms and when i check my statement something else is reflecting. I am in the process of moving banks because the other banks don't have this problem. Numerous queries have no impact and i am under the impression ABSA IT is not trying hard enough to sort out this problem.

If they new this is a problem why not inform the clients to check there statement. Also transactions will go through and you receive an sms but it does not appear on your statement or under retained balances. This is very frustrating. I would like ABSA to phone me can send you proof of my account details so you can see what I am talking about it is outrages.

ABSA Bank debt review

I've been under debt review since 2009 and each month my debt counsellor paid my accounts. At the beginning of 2012 I started with a new job and my salary made it possible to make "normal" payments so on 06 Feb 2012 I went out under debt review. My 17.4 form was send to everybody by myself and my debt counseller and since then I've been making monthly payments into my account via internet banking. Never have ABSA ever botherd to contact me to make arrangements with payment amounts so I decided to pay more than I did before I went under debt review.
I phoned them today just to be informed that I was handed over to the attorneys on 12/12/2011 (while under debt review) and my name put on ITC. They acknowledge that they received my 17.4 form and took me from there debt review system on 05/09/2012 but still I'm under their legal department and they have no concern to make arrangements with me for payment or to sort this matter out.

My question is: how can I be handed over while I'm still under debt review?

ABSA bank is by far the worse bank to have - they are totally not interested in helping you or assisting in matters.
I'm totally *&%$# with them and the moment I've paid my account up with them - I'm closing that account and they will never get business from me again!

ABSA Bank no customer service

I own a small Agency, and I unfortunately bank with ABSA. This has been one of my biggest mistakes. I find the staff so unhelpful. I applied for an overdraft nearly 2 years ago, I never ever received feedback until I start shouting and screaming. I have had 3 business consultants and every time I have to start the process all over. I truly hate ABSA. Another thing, ABSA brackendowns is closed due to renovations. Should there not be some form of a system where they can still help on the premises even though it might be limited. About 300 000 goest through my account every month. I AM SICK OF ABSA AND CANNOT WAIT TO CLOSE MY ACCOUNT. I even told a consultant this over the phone and her reaction was OKAY no problem and told me the procedure. Should she not have tried to save me as a client. I also once called the bank to ask what the International banking close was and she did not even know what that was. My Business Consultant left 4 months ago and to date I do not even know who is handling my account, every time I call the branch they will not let me speak to her and keep referring me to the call centre. WHAT AM i PAYING FOR! I HATE HATE HATE ABSA.

ABSA Bank no feed back

I was working for a company Early Bird services. It was taken over by Mastercare For the last couple of years they deducted money from our salaries and claim that the payed it over to Absa. In the meantime I was diagnose with stomach cancer and at the age of 50 was no longer fit to work. I contact Absa Mrs Van Deventer she e-mail me what is suppose to be the outstanding amount .I ask her several times by email to send me procedure how to claim my pension fund and if the money from Mastercare/Early Bird was re lie payed over. After 4 emails she did not even return my call. In theis stage I need the money to survive and for medical treatment. I'm disappointed in the way I was treated by both companies.

ABSA Bank decrease of credit card limit

I had a limit on my credit card. I made a lump sum payment into the card. Without any prior notice, Absa saw it fit to decrease my credit limit by half. I never knew this and went to the shops to get some food etc, only to be told that it was declined. Very taken back with this as i knew with my last purchase I still had a positive balance. I have made my monthly installments and some every monthly. I find this very bad practise from ABSA. What am i meant to do now?

ABSA Bank assistance refused

Good day
I would like to lay a complaint with regards to the conduct of an ABSA EMPLOYEE.

I went the bank during my lunch hour which is from 13H00 - 14H00 to make a withdrawal. I arrived at the bank at 13H20 but the queue was long, & i wouldn’t make it back to the office in time.

I went to the BULK Teller queue and when it was my turn, politely, with respect, apologised to the Teller, Rebone Mogorosi, for wanting do the transaction at the BULK TELLER, I was really in a tight spot.

I explained that it was the only time that i had to attend to the bank & i'm working from 08H00 - 16H30 & i need the funds today. She told me that i should work in 2 days lunch hour & only then attend to the bank in order to make the withdrawal.

She further suggested that i come during the weekend, but fact of the matter was that i needed the funds at that specific moment & she was also waisting my time with all the suggestions she made. After all of the above, she refused to help me where after i asked an employee for the Manager who asked another Teller to help me, Bless her soul, she helped me.

When i left i asked her for her name, told me to get it from the person who told me to get her name & eventually told me her name after i insisted, i don’t even know if it is really her name as she was not wearing a nametag.

Is that how Client should be treated? I wouldn’t be asking for assistance at the BULK TELLER if it weren’t urgent, and it don’t happen every day, but i feel offended because i am a paying Client at ABSA and deserve to be assisted when really urgent. One thing i know for sure is that i will be closing down my account and moving to another bank where i will be treated like a paying client.

I have empathy with your situation and have had terrible experiences with ABSA, even to the extent that i have been waiting extended periods of time for a new credit card while out of the country and need it for survival and their service is pathetic with the exception of one person who assisted me while i was still in the country. I can tell you this though.. You will come across these situations eventually everywhere.., The big companies don't invest in staff training anymore, and don't pay their staff decent wages spend effort and time to enable them to be better staff... It's all about money and taking your money.. if you have a complaint there is a manager to go complain to, to try and keep you happy and prevent you from making a scene or sending a mail to a higher authority, which will just send a e-mail down to the branch manager again anyway.., , what's the use.., stick with your bank and raise your complaint properly in writing to the manager and to his superior and if it happens again, blow it up more with that letter attached.., if the same staff member is rude again, some formal action will be taken, until then, ..what's the use of inconveniencing yourself, going through all the effort of opening & closing a bank account and moving all your stuff...? You are the only one suffering in the process.. the ABSA doesn't care.., there is enough clients who wants to bank with them, that just accepts the way they are treated..,
