Cancelled flight
On August 27th, 2023 our flight was cancelled from Comox, BC to Calgary, BC due to equipment failure on the airplane.
As such I am out the cost of an extra night at the motel in Oyster Bay (the only place we were able to find accommodation, the additional day of vehicle rental and a day's pay as we were not able to return until the following Monday afternoon.
The break down is as follows:
Motel - $337.87
Car Rental - $104.93
Wages: $346.15
Total: $788.95
Desired outcome: I demand compensation in the amount of $788.95 and I would like some sort of explanation how a door can malfunction through normal use and not be noticed during general maintenance and inspections. The doors are pretty important.

On August 17, 2023 My husband and I bid on and were successful in upgrading to business class on Flight WS9. We ended up on opposite sides of the cabin. My husband John in seat 4A and I had seat 3K. When it came time for the inflight meal service the choices were beef, chicken or pasta. I was informed that only chicken or pasta was available. I chose chicken. There were two choices for the salad and since I don't eat shrimp so chose the other option. I was informed that it was not available. My husband was informed that only pasta remained so that's what he had to have. He claimed it was inedible. I can't tell you how disappointed and disgusted we are that business class would not be able to accommodate the meal choices of what is a small number of passengers. We paid a considerable amount for the upgrade and it was not worth the money.
Desired outcome: The only solution is a refund for the upgrade
Being treated very disrespectful and verbally abused, also disrespectful based on gender.

I was sitting at gate B14 , with my husband , which had gotten up and went to the washroom.Waiting on our delayed flight to Calgary WS124 .
While playing a game on my phone, I was overhearing a conversation between 2 WestJet workers about a piece of luggage that looked way oversized.
I was approached by one of the WestJet employees, as he loudly complained to me that my baggage was too large , which i replied, it was not my luggage. That it belonged lady with a handicapped child which was also in the washroom. The worker continued to raise his voice , telling me I could not take this bag on carry on . I replied one more time, was not my luggage, ( which I feel he was not even listening to my comments ) . He then said to me that I was ridiculous thinking I could carry on this bag . At this point I raised my voice asked him why he was disrespecting me so badly and acting in inappropriate .
My husband returned from the washroom, I started to explain the happenings, when I noticed the 2 WestJet workers talking on the side . I walked over and said if he was going to be taking, I thought the both sides of the story should be involved.
I asked one question to the abusive worker, why I was treated that way , he looked at the ceiling and would not answer. My husband called me to come back to sit , which I did , my husband stood up and took pictures.
A few minutes later the westjet lady employee, came over and asked my husband to come talk with the westjet employee I had the issue with.
The Westjet man, started to apologize to my husband, which my husband said you’re apologizing to the wrong person and came and sat down beside me .
I feel this man is very disrespectful to women as watched him make a younger woman come up and size her bag and made her check it and left many others alone , with more and larger baggage.
I do not feel that this person should be working in a public setting.

Desired outcome: I would like this person to have some customer training, and be reprimanded, taught some respect for others. Definitely an apology is needed, to know we can travel comfortably next time.
No steps were taken, no sure why it is saying resolved. Never heard a word from anyone
luggage and service
We flew from California to Halifax in September. Our luggage was left behind in Calgary and again on return a week later from Halifax to Vancouver again our checked luggage was left behind in Calgary. Thankfully we had airtags to notify them where our luggage was. Twice we had to purchase extra toiletries and clothing. We have just been reimbursed for this but it should have never happened. There was a que at Vancouver airport of people also not getting their checked baggage. We were starting to think there was hidden camera's and this was a joke that twice in a week our cases were left behind.
Our thought process is that the airline is leaving passenger luggage behind and taking on air freight as it earns more money.
Desired outcome: The problem gets fixed so it doesn't happen again.
Flight attendant very rude
on Flight WS 3310 Sept. 13, 2023 9:10pm to 9:50 pm from Vancouver to Kelowna .
I was seated by the front row Premium 1A and i have a small carry on bag plus a purse & 2 small extra bags for my mediations & vitamins.
The flight attendant has to prove herself that she's in control by lecturing me on the number of bags i had. While other Passengers were watching.
She could have been more civil & polite if she came up to me and if she had took extra effort to assist me find a room in the baggage bin.
I am a senior citizen and I actually asked for a wheelchair assistance in my trips but I prefer not.
I don't remember her name but I think she should be trained well for grace & friendly when attending to passengers, Canadian or Asians, which I happen to be.. Thank you & please hear me out. Blessings.
Missing west jet dollar from my account
I had a flight booked.
I had to change my flight/delay my flight due to covid outbreaks in Canada and to the destination I had booked.
I was not able to gain my refund.
West Jet put the flight amount into West Jet Dollars eventhough I paid for flight change insurance due to covid.
My dollar are gone.
I want them back.
I will contact authorities if I am not dealt with in a reasonable responsible manner and method.
I will contact an Ombudsman.
You are not able to speak with anyone.
You numbers do not give a customer the option to talk to someone.
This is very bad unprofessional service for any customer. Just the worst.
No one has ever contacted me to let me know changes were made to my banked West Jet Dollars!
I want them back immediately!

PA Announcements on Flights
No political speeches on flights please. I really don't care if it is our Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition or my MLA or MP. Hearing a political message is my choice, not WestJet's. I was not on the recent flight that Pierre Poilievre gave his pitch but am not comfortable hearing any politician go on about their platform or stance on issues. If a politician speaks publicly on a flight then they are tacitly agreeing to allow cheering AND/OR booing, congratulations AND/OR heckling and are setting the stage for inflight confrontation between him/her and passengers, or between passengers with different points of view. I have flown with WestJet many times, and if it becomes a habit to allow politicians to take over the mike, then I will find another carrier.
Desired outcome: Public announcement from company that political messages will not be permitted on flights.
Having to buy my flight again because the plane broke and flight was canceled
I had booked a trip to England for myself and my sister in November 2022
I was leaving Grande Prairie and she was leaving from Nanaimo. July 25, 2023
We were to meet in Vancouver to get on the plane to England.
In January of 2023 West jet changed the location of the England flight to Calgary from Vancouver.
This made my flight go Grande Prairie to Calgary, Calgary to Vancouver, Vancouver to Calgary, Calgary to England. I tried to change this, but WestJet said Redtag had to and Redtag said WestJet had to. So, I just decided to keep the “milk run”
I booked the England holiday through Redtag as they offered the trip with a hotel in Woking. West jet did not offer hotel booking in Woking. The rest of the flights were booked through WestJet directly as we were leaving from separate airports and was easier to do this way.
On July 25th my first plane from Grande Prairie to Calgary broke and was cancelled.
I spoke to an agent at the airport, and she called customer service to “help”
They could not get me to Vancouver in time to catch the flight to Calgary to board the plane to England. The agent at the airport and I tried to explain to the Customer service rep that I did not need to go to Vancouver and that I could just catch the next plane to Calgary and get on the flight to England from there. The customer service agent would not allow us to do this and insisted that I had to go to Vancouver. (The flight to England left from Calgary) The agent and I argued with the customer service rep to no avail.
By this time the next flight to Calgary was booked up (full) from all the people who were on the cancelled flight.
West jet offered no alternative but for me to purchase an entirely new ticket to England last minute. The flight went Grande Prairie to Edmonton, Edmonton to Calgary and Calgary to England. (Same flight I was originally booked on) But they made me pay an extra 1300.00 for these flights.
I thought to myself ok, I will fight with them when I get home as I did not want to ruin my vacation.
On my way home I had a bit of time to spare in Calgary and spoke to the special services desk. The ladies were amazing and could not believe the nightmare getting to England was. They made notes on all of my flights etc. so that when I called Regtag they could easily get my refund for me.
When I called Red tag and they contacted Westjet, this is what they/we were told …. Westjet is trying to say that I forfeited my flight to England and cannot get a refund.( even though none of this was my fault) I never once forfeited my flight or was told I could not ask for a refund. I also asked west jet to provide proof of me being told this and they do not have any. So it is a he said she said situation.
Now I asked Redtag to escalate this and I am still waiting for a reply. I am at a complete loss as to how West jet thinks its ok to completely screw someone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double charge for luggage

I was charged twice for my bag. I travelled on the 8th of august, 2023, from Calgary to Mexico City, I tried to pay on line before travelling but I thought it did not go through, so I paid again at the airport.

Got refused boarding
I was flying out of halifax airport on august 9, 2023 flight was departing 8am I was at airport at 6am. Standing in line and me and 22 other passengers for same flight westjet ws229 seat 6d were pushed back for 2 other flights 1 for edmonton and 1 for vancouver even thou I was there 2 hours before flight we were all told plane could not wait and left without us. Even when I asked before if I was going to be able to get on my plane I was told yes. Was not our fault that there was not enough staff to process us all. I tried to pre register the day before on line and could not get on the website. That being said I was denied boarding even thou we were bumped twice for other flights. I ended up getting a flight 12 hrs later at 615pm which I received no compansation for. I feel I am owed some sort of compansation for sitting for over 12 hours in the airport with no wheres to gothe flight I finally got was back of the plane with no plug in that worked. Flight was ws233 which was also delayed till 6:15pm. This is from my wife thank you

Seating charged for and not received
My wife and daughter on foght /order number mck1f5, flight : 3duigv, eurimg, passengers diana and rayan "child". I paid extra for them to be seated (besides) each others. My daughter was totally crying for the whole flight , because she was not seated besides her mother, she is horrified from the experience and she may not be able to fly back without medical treatment. Each was harressed and scaried by the stranger she sat next to.
This is the last time we fly with you, and unless you solve this problem i will be , makeing this problem known to all thru facebook and twitter and the flight goverment.

Lost baggage while boarding connecting flight west jet from San Francisco to Vancouver
We boarded west jet flight Aug 02 2023 at terminal 1 flight 1775 from San Francisco to Vancouver it was a connecting flight we came from Fiji our booking number is 2WKLMT.
We arrived from Fiji at 1:45 and we went through immigration later we got our luggage we went west jet counter to checkin firstly they told us the loading zone is closed and later they it’s okay you guys can get into the flight we checked our bags in 2 bags we got into customs and boarded the flight when we reached Vancouver we didn’t receive our bags.we were not even give a bag tags at west jet counter but we had the tags from. Fiji airways kotak Vancouver FJ 833470, kotak Vancouver FJ 833470 since they rushed us in the flight checkin our bags didn’t give us the bag tags how can the employees be so careless if they knew the loading zone is closed they shouldn’t put us in that flight .
When we reached Vancouver we realized we don’t have our bags we complained to west jet counter they said they will try to locate our bags they gave us our file number YVR WS61304. It’s been 3 days we haven’t received our luggage it’s so stressful we have our medication and our life in that bag.
I hope we get our bag soon westjet customer service is very poor I will never fly by west jet and not recommend my friends and families .west jet doesn’t have responsibility of treating customers properly.
They don’t trained people for problem solving we are going through so much stress bec our clothes our expensive shopping and gifts and we had some item which has to be thrown out if I get bag must have spoiled I am really upset I hope west jet understands our does solve our problem soon.

Westjet benefits - companion fare and lounge vouchers
Westjet cancelled our January 2024 flight for which we used our companion fare that originally expired sept 14 2023
They reinstated the voucher but would not extend the expiry date, which is now only 6 weeks away. We called asking for an extension, or conversion to lounge vouchers that might be extended . Answer was absolutely NO!
We will now lose this benefit , as it is not possible to book a trip so soon. All we asked is to extend to Nov 16th. Such horrible customer service when it was THEM who cancelled our flight
