I entered Wal-Mart Vision center today to make an appointment. They are on my list of providers. The rude witch at the counter said I had to call my provider and get my member ID number and the administrator of the policy. I knew the administrator because I was in there 2 weeks prior buying glasses for my child. They said they couldn't access the optical information. I told her who the administatrator was and that my ID number was on my card. She refused to look at the card and actually told me to go call them. She said they do not call insurance companies to verify anything. Which was a shock because 2 weeks ago - they did. I returned home, called my carrier and asked for the info. They gave me the same number on the card and confirmed the admin. They even called the Wal-Mart center to ask why they refused to look up my info - the witchy lady hung up on them while I was on the line and heard it all! I don't really know where else to report this, Wal-Mart doesn't really have a "complaint department". At the very least I will never spend another dime in that vision center. They can kiss my butt. And if you ever read this you rude *** counter wench, you are the poorest example of what customer service should be. The doctor's name in charge is Deborah Fields, OD. If she ever googles herself I hope you find this. Short brown haired lady with glasses and a terrible attitude.

I see I attract the rudest people. If I had the chance to speak to the Dr I would agree. I didn't offer my insurance info - this witch counter clerk asked me for it. I didn't even get the chance to make the apointment because this clerical person refused to entertain the fact that I had all the info she needed - if she would have simply looked at the card. But thanks for your wonderful insight...

Yeah...when I went in it was midnight on Christmas Eve. Give me a break the story happened exactly as I wrote it. No, no doctor talked to me. Never in my life of 45+ years have I ever sproken to a Doctor of anything while trying to make an appointment to see them. It is not procedure and to say otherwise is just plain stupid. Yes I am a pain to deal with - I hate stupid rude people so you and I would definately not get along.

Oh my god...That was sarcasm. Why would I post 2 days ago something that - oh nevermind. Are you 2 employees of Wal-Mart? Management I am thinking.

This is a COMPLAINT board get a life.

I already did contact the corporate office and suprisingly this was not the first complaint on her and she was actually fired. They even offered to give me my glasses for free. I am completely happy - and I must say I am very amused at the clowns who posted here. poobear and flyboy - very scary people. HAHAHA

Goodbye all and thank you Brenda for the suggestion.

If you are the policyholder, and Wal-Mart and the doctor are providers for your optical insurance, and you were there two weeks ago with another family member who is on your plan, your insurance information would be in the computer system. It is not up to the doctor to do this. Laws may vary from state to state, offices may do things differently, but the opticians do not call phone numbers on the patients insurance cards...if your insurance plan is accepted by Wal-Mart, there is a specific phone number we call.
