poor service
Same thing happened to me with usaa... We just moved to montana... I was told that I would not be able to renew my policy because of a bankruptcy three years ago... Makes not sense because I have changed the policy before and had no problems. I am very disappointed and plan on elevating this higher. Oh I was told that a supervisor was in a meeting and he would call me back in 15 min... It has been over 30! Usaa is starting to suck in my mind. If I can not get this resolved I may get a lawyer and go that route. For a company that markets themselves to military they sure are slipping.

beware
My husband is a colonel in the US Army ret- just got back from tour in Afghanistan. While he was gone we opened a HELOC - USAA had me PAY for appraisal- this was in October 2007. Two days ago (May 14th 2008) USAA called and informed me that they re-appraised our home and based on that and comps - they had dropped the value of our home over 50K - I asked to see appraisal and comps -they refused. We had actually just had a real estate agent bring us comps -they came in 3% from last fall - but certainly not down 30% - the market it slow but not dead where I live.
The result of this, the froze my line of credit- and are now requiring PMI -because we don't have 20% equity based on their new "appraisal" -
Spoke to 5 different people- and the supervisor at the top told us - that- market conditions and credit crunch is responsible - and they have the "right" to do this any time they want. To add insult to injury they had the GALL to tell us "No one else will do any differently your home is worth anything anymore..."
Funny - Pentagon federal credit union - sent appraiser out and retrieved comps from our actual neighborhood - and told us - no problem - they put the house at 55K more than USAA -
Needless to say - we're re-financing everything-
USAA - is horrid bank - I can only assume that they didn't like that our HELOC was at 4.023% - and being that its end of quarter- they want to take write downs-
Really *** since my husband has been a member for over 20 years- and we carried everything through them -
USAA is just another NASTY big bank - screwing people - beware- of doing any type of loan business with them.

USAA did the same thing to me. I also carried everything with them for 25 years. They have gotten really sleazy and are now PREDATORY lenders. They also decreased our home value on equity loans and our credit union appraisal came back significantly higher. They have turned pure evil. I heard they no longer are run by military people...is this the reason they are pure evil? LIARS and no LOYALTY to customers. Oh, they screwed me on some insurance claims also but that is a different issue. Someone totalled my car and they paid me signficantly less than any book value out there. They used the WHOLESALE AUCTION PRICE for payment when I pressed them as to where they got the low comps. They tried to slip it by me. Nice, huh?
terrible customer service
Usaa has a habit of charging nsf fees on unauthorized charges, and when you call customer service to fix problem nothing is ever done

I got out of my car to get something out of the back, and left the driver's side open. The car next to me had occupants, which I knew. Then, the wind blew my door into the other guy's car. There's no dent--just a paint scrape. USAA says this is the same as having an at fault accident on the freeway, and wants to raise my rates probably a few thousand dollars a year (since we have five cars insured with them). The entire damage probably barely comes to my $500 deductible. I offered to just pay the guy's damages myself, but USAA says no. (Why miss a bogus opportunity to squeeze a policyholder?).
We've had USAA for 10+ years, and they've made a lot of $$ off of us. Just last year they wouldn't let us change my husband's life insurance from 20 yr term to 30 yr term just because he was deployed. (How silly is that--no matter what, they're on the hook for the next 20 yrs, no matter how many deployments he's got left).
After reading about USAA locking out people's bank accounts, I think we'll be closing our accounts and moving them to Bank of America. We've been really pleased with their service.
D.O.I. insuance complaint department. You make a complaint to them and USAA will be VERY helpful.
I'm completely ticked off at USAA. One of their clients is the at-fault driver in a collision in Texas. USAA is trying to force me to accept inferior junk parts (reconditioned) to repair my car. Does anyone know WHERE can I find information about my RIGHTS as a Texas auto insurance claimant?
DO NOT GO WITH BANK OF AMERICA! Google BANK OF AMERICA complaints and your computer will burn up. Go with Security Service Federal credit Union in San Antonio and don't give up on USAA. Have your main checking with SSFCU and have money sent each month from SSFCU to USAA to pay for your insurance. They give you a 10% discount for have automatic withdrawal. All the insurance companies are bad look at ALL STATE being sued by attorney generals in many states. Bank of America is HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I had them for 3 pay periods (3 active duty checks) and they bounced over $$2500 worth of checks because my money was NEVER EVER deposited on the day the military paid me. BOA would wait at least 2 but sometime up to 4 days to deposit my money all the while telling me they would "honor" any checks they came through. This was in 2000. My USAA auto and property insurance came out on payday and my mutual funds a few days later by AUTOMATIC withdrawal not by check. ALL BOUNCED! It was the single most frustrating horrible experience of my life. I had a $2000 overdraft signature loan with BOA (like I did SSFCU which I never closed thank God) and BOA made sure they RACKED UP EVERY CENT of it in bounced check fees $39 each. I thought I was done paying the BX and Wal-mart etc. and then stormed into BOA to close my account and found out they ran the same check for $6.00 for lunch I cashed at the BX 3 or 4 times just to rack up that signature loan which I had to pay off before I could close the account. I kept all my BOA statements PROVING they never deposieted my military checks for DAYS after payday but was exhausted working on my masters degree and working and raising a child. I was screwed and worse my airmen all said "I TOLD YOU SO" because they had already been through the experience. When I had my military pay going back to SSFCU, SUDDENLY NO MORE BOUNCED CHECKS! TO ALL FIRST SERGEANTS OUT THERE: BEFORE YOU THROW OUT ANY AIRMAN SOLDIER OR MARINE OR SAILOR out of the military, HAVE THEM DUMP BOA FOR SSFCU and their checks will not bounce.
cam and rip off!
After being a loyal employee of usaa for 10 years, I was layed off in 2006 due to downsizing. Because of my drastic drop in salary while searching for a new position usaa retested me for reemployment in september 2007 and sent me for a drug test which were both passing and basically rehired. Until they ran my credit and realized it had gone poor they decided I did not qualify for the position because of the credit issue and did not actually hire me. A month later in october of 2007 I had to declare bankruptcy because I had really fallen behind in all of my debts, mortgage. Being insured with usaa in all lines of business (Car, homeowners, personal articles floater, and life) end even all banking products with usaa for the past 10 years, I remained faithful with the company for my business with them, that is until in 12-2007 usaa wrote me to let me know that because of the bankruptcy status they would not renew my policies at the end of the current policies which were car insurance in 1-2008, home insurance in [protected]. Unfortunately on [protected] the main entrance to my home was broken the whole frame of the door was broken and door broken into and everything (Jewelry, electronics, computers, etc.) was stolen. A police report was filed immediately to this date 3-6-2008 my door still has no security lock and any one can just push in the door an enter the home. Then on the contents usaa has placed a special investigator (Supposedly) she could never show or answer to any credentials come to my home and ask to look through all of my personal things, I agreed, why I do not know, but she did, and of course found nothing. I have nothing to hide I exclaimed to her, then told her that since we were in my home I was recording our conversation she replied, "she was not comfortable with that" I told her it was still happening since we were in my home, usaa had sent me a letter stating that if I were to have any fraud or false statements they would not honor my statements. And on the letter it also states that if I want to hire an attorney at my expense I could. So this is exactly what I did, a representative (Hr director) of my attorneys firm was invited to sit in my home with this "private investigator" (Cynthia esquivel) she stated "I am not comfortable with this at all" and went on to say that she would not conduct the meeting with me on the cas and would only take any paper work and she would make her determination from there. She took paperwork copies I made for her and left. (All conversation is on recording) she was extremely rude, and hostile. On thurs 2-28-08 I received a phone call from contractor "alamo flooring and construction" stating that usaa had approved the door replacement and that he had contacted the door company and they told him all I had to do was go and pay my part of the door so that week could get started. Being that I work 2 full time jobs (Day and night) I was not able to until sat. 3-1-08. Since I am not a crook it never dawned on me that the quote given to me from the front door company had a few scratch outs on it where the person that made the quote had made mistakes and corrected them. I faxed this quote to usaa not even thinking any thing of this effect would come in. The representative at the front door company let me know that usaa had sent an investigator to see if the quote I faxed to them matched theirs because they felt I had altered it. Of course it did match, I never would of even thought about this. I am very humiliated by all the allegations usaa has put on me and the mental anguish that this horrible company has put me through. My situation makes me wonder how many people that do not know better get taken advantage like this by usaa. I was a victim when my home was broken into and the privacy of my home was invaded. Usaa made my situation even worse instead of protecting me like I had been paying them to do all these years. This situation needs to be stopped and taken seriously and investigators for usaa need to show credentials before they can just walk in someones home and expect to go through their personal lives. And they need to realize that I am comfortable with them recording my conversations with them, what are they hiding that they are not comfortable with the consumer recording them. I will go as far as I can not only to protect myself and my family but any one who has to go through the nightmare that usaa has created for me.
Usaa is nothing but fraud.. They do same thing to me and listen you dont have to be their staff employee. They do that with all claimants and insureds they are fraud and they need to be investigated. They sure do cause alot of mental anguish and caused alot of issues for me also so dont feel bad im going to sue the #### of them no worries..
I've read through all of the posts here and I feel a few things need to be cleared up. First of all, if your husband is messing around with someone at work, you have other deeper issues that need to be addressed. It is NOT a USAA problem -- it is a SPOUSE problem. Secondly, complaints from disgruntled employees should be taken with a grain of salt. If you were fired, laid off, etc -- then you were either part of the summer surge team, or you must not have been performing up to the required standards. Take a look in the mirror first before you bite the hand that fed you. Also, if you you feel you are being overworked while management and directors sip coffee and attend multiple meetings, then you clearly don't understand business. Doctors make the big bucks -- they see you for 5 minutes when you're in the hospital, and the nurses willingly do all the work for a fraction of the pay (because they are the ones committed to the service aspect of their field). Welcome to reality. I actually prefer the member contact to the coffee-sipping meetings. It's a privilege and an honor to be able to speak with our military, connect with them, hear their stories, educate them and offer them some guidance and reassurance. Taking back-to-back calls is your JOB! If you don't like it -- change it! Find another company where you feel you can actually make a difference in someone's life, get paid to do it, and get great benefits. Or...here's a good one...stop complaining & embrace your current position... pay your dues, work your tail off and strive to continuously improve and grow so you can get promoted to one of those "cushy" director positions. (Be warned -- the grass is not always greener on the other side.) The opportunities are there for you - what you choose to do with them is all on YOU.
Next, let's all acknowledge the fact that there is NO perfect company, NO perfect employer, NO perfect job, NO perfect management team, and from a consumer standpoint -- NO claim that was perfectly satisfied. Unfortunately, it is human nature to point fingers and blame someone else when we are hurt, angry, or simply uneducated and reaping the consequences of our own bad decisions. Think about it -- millions of members -- only hundreds of complaints. Those are staggeringly great odds. Human beings tend to want to tell the world when something goes wrong, but rarely do we find it worth taking time out of our busy lives to tell the world about something that went right or to thank someone for a job well done. When is the last time any of the complainers on this site posted something positive? I'm not judging -- just guessing. Might be a good time for a little self-reflection for you.
Just to be clear -- I do not use the term "uneducated" as an insult, but insurance is a very complex industry. If you are simply searching for the cheapest premium without taking the time to educate yourself, then you are setting yourself up to be the next disgruntled recipient of a less than satisfying claim payout. I have been in the industry nearly 20 years -- not all of them with USAA. I can confidently state that USAA is by far THE BEST company out there (from a member AND employee perspective) -- and I pride myself on making sure every member I speak with gets the information THEY need to make an educated decision about THEIR financial security. I don't recommend coverages, I don't tell you what YOU should choose as a deductible, etc. I EDUCATE you. It's YOUR money. It's YOUR protection. It's YOUR decision. (And it CANNOT be done efficiently or accurately in fifteen minutes or less!) An educated adult understands there is a lot more to it than just paying a premium for a number of years and getting 100% of whatever they want whenever they file a claim. If you CHOOSE a 2% deductible, then it is YOUR job to understand exactly what that means and how it will affect YOU. If YOU choose lower liability limits because the premium is cheaper, then YOU are the only to blame when you have liens placed against you and your future earnings garnished by claimants because your insurance company didn't cover "everything".
I cannot tell you the number of times that I have spoken with people who are willing to take insurance advice from their neighbors, the car dealer, their realtor, their mortgage lender, their family members and what they happened to overhear from a stranger when they were in line at Starbucks...instead of having that conversation with me, the insurance professional., who wants to simply educate them on the importance of proper liability coverage. Would you call your butcher for roofing advice? Or your mechanic for a good recipe? Or your mom to perform surgery? Or a barista to fill your prescription? We all know who to trust when it comes to certain things -- we all want the specialist or the expert in the field so we can get the best product, the best advice or the best service. Why should your financial security and the protection of your home and family be any different?
I understand that Insurance companies as a whole have gotten a bad reputation for taking money in and not paying out. Let's break that down: in its simplest form, the insurance industry is a gamble. Everyone puts their money into the kitty, and rolls the dice -- hoping NOT to have to file a claim. When someone files a claim, the kitty is used to pay that claim. If there is not enough money in the kitty because of the number of past claims, then everyone needs to contribute a little more and the rates go up. If there's a lot left over in the kitty after operating expenses and claims are paid, then members receive their little piece of the pie through dividend payouts. All this happens while continuously monitoring the internal expenses of keeping up with the ever-rising costs of labor, construction materials, vehicle parts, changes in building codes, individual rating factors, etc. So it's much more than expecting to receive a payout equal to the amount you've paid in. Do you go to your local gas pump or grocery store and tell them that you deserve a better price for the same product because you've been shopping there for years?
ASK questions. EDUCATE yourself. Be accountable for YOUR own financial security. If USAA isn't the best fit for YOU -- either as a member or an employee -- that's okay. No need to be bitter and lash out. Be an adult and move on. It's YOUR choice.
I am a spouse of a 100 percent disabled veteran. he served 3 tours in Vietnam. I have a USAA credit card and it had a $15.000 limit.
we had some credit card debt.we agreed to do some balance transfers to USAA. this happened about a year ago. it started out at
$12.600. we paid them $3.100 for the last ten months.
they have charged us $1.400 in interest. we got a statement dated june of 2015 that stated that we owed them$10.318.57.
but now they say we owe them $11.199.95..and the statement also says that if we only pay the minimum we will be paying about
28 years. it took a long time to get through to someone. I asked if they would give us a lower payoff. they said no. I don't know how they came up with these figures. this cant be right. if you read their reviews on the internet . there is a lot of upset people. we will cancel our car and house insurance
with Usaa. I told them they are not helping veterans they are only helping themselves. someone should stop them from taking advantage of veterans.
AA is the worst company I have EVER worked for! Beware veterans! The management spends much of their time visiting with each other, talking, laughing and drinking coffee at each others desks while Member service representatives take back to back calls.
We are monitored by an auditing department as well as 4-5 calls a week by our manager. We are expected to know each state's insurance laws as well each computer application in addition to new and/or process changes.
Training was inadequate. You were told that training provides 10 % and the remaining 90% is learned on the job.
The Member service representatives often get their weekly meetings shortened or completely cancelled while the managers continue to attend their 4-5 meetings a week, unoblivious to the back to back phone calls, either not acknowledged or uncaring.
I retired with my previous employer after over 30 years and I have never been treated so unprofessionally or disrespectfully in all of my life.
There is a task force in place asking why turnover is so high. I was fired for the FIRST time in my life for making two mistakes. Instead of reviewing the mistakes and being given the opportunity to improve, I was fired.
Veterans, I love you and appreciate all of your hard work and sacrifices. My family is a proud military family as well. WWI, WWII, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. Thank you for service!
Usaa was a good bank, they do not care about military like they say,
They have gatten money out of one of my checking, now by check is going to bounce,
Usaa does not care, you.
USAA DOES NOT CARE IF YOU ARE A LOYAL MEMBER! They sell themselves as being supportive, loyal to their long-term customers, however, if you are in a financial jam they will drop you like a fly. I was short $30 for a payment and they cancelled my auto insurance. Now, they think that just offering to re-evaluate my policy and having me go through all the paperwork again that they are dong ME a favor. The company has gone downhill from where they were years ago. Did I mention I've been a loyal member with no financial issues or delays in payment in 20 years, not too mention my Father has been a member for 50 years, they don't care. Liz Green the "Director" was completely rude and combative during our 2 minute conversation I had with her that took two days for her to return my call. Shame on the upper level management of USAA. I can't wait to spread the word to everyone and anyone I know. I'm glad I could be a loyal customer to you for 20 years, cannot wait to switch to Triple AAA! I've heard so many people for the past 20 years try to convince me to make the switch, I'm looking forward to seeing what they've all been talking about and making a real relationship with such a respectable company. Oh, and since I've been shopping around, I realize that USAA isn't any cheaper than anyone else out there, just another one of their scams.
USAA is a whole little city and many of the employees have a secret life there. Two years ago I found out that a woman (Immature 28 year old) was enticing married men knowing that they were married she didn't care till I found out that my husband was not her only victim just the one who was caught. You see she lied to HR/upper management and her supervisor that she had no involvement or contact with my husband but she did. You how could you have no involvement or contact with someone and receive intimate gift almost weekly? (I found most of the receipts) Now almost getting him fired and was most likely was told NOT to have contact with him, few weeks later she made it a point to go up to him and tell him that she's pregnant. What's that? Now my marriage is destroyed and my children do not look at their dad the same and she still works there. I wish there was a way to contact HR to advise them of the kind of employee they have and all the lies she has told them only to save herself (you see she also had a boyfriend that was not aware of what was going on and probably still doesn't know). I don't know where to start or who to contact at USAA to advise them of this employee. Does anyone know or have suggestions as to what I should do?
USAA IS GREAT So far no problems and icall if i am missing a dollar and they patiently help. But one time I did call and someone asked for my password and that was suspicious and they said i got it anyhow but i still did not give it. it was wierd and uncomfortable but the first, Other then that I love the company,
i too have had a horrible history with usaa. We were in an accident (not our fault). It did a considerable amount of damage to the vehicle. The "representative" from usaa said the damage was under $700 when in all actuality it was well over $5000.So ridiculous. They did not have some one from usaa come to assess the damage instead went through a contracted third party company. We could not contact said company as the contact number was our phone number! When we finally managed to get the right number. I took over 2 months of rescheduled appointments(to assess the damage) before the vehicle was "assessed".The company gave us the cell number to the representative who was supposed to come.Every time we contacted them they said they would be in our town in just a few hours and never showed up.On top of this we purchased a home before this happened and atleast 3 times in less than a year we have had to call and fight with them because they say we are in default. after hours and hours on the phone fighting with them they always prove we were not in default.Accounts are almost impossible to close...I hate USAA
I don't know if people understand that the "hundred's of complaints" you have seen against USAA is quite less than 1% of their coverage of the US. They employ about 22, 000 people alone, it would take 220 complaints to see 1% there. They cover SO many more people than just that, and the resulting percentages bring up nearly 80000 complaints constituting 1%. The worry will start when the complaints come in by the thousands. Every company is going to make mistakes. Small businesses aren't always right, and we in this world today are convinced that large companies are never right. I will not say that it is bad to question what something at a big business is saying, not by a long shot. Question everything! What I think is that when something happens individually like that, it's unfortunate, but you can't measure something like that on it's losses**.
**If we did that, then the Spurs would beat the Lakers on a yearly basis.
cam and cheating!
I had insurance, and currently have Banking, a auto loan and Credit Card through USAA. In the past I was not the best at paying my Insurance on the exact date that was posted. But I did always pay them in full for what they wanted. Never had a problem until earlier this year when they decided that because I was not paying them in full. (Witch I know was my...

I feel in my opinion that I have been treated unfairly by usaa federal savings bank. Now for all most 2 years I have been a customer of theirs and at first they were wonderful. They treated me fairly and not once did I ever have any concerns about their behavior. Well recently that has changed.
For over 2 years of being with usaa, they have never charged me an overdraft fee unless the funds were actually taken out, now well they changed their tactics. These people have been charging me up to 250 dollars in overdraft fees for debit transactions that were never paid. So in other words... They charge me a 29.00 overdraft fee regardless if the money was drawn or not. They are pretty much charging solely off the attempt alone.
I consider such a policy to be wrong and very deceitful considering that they have never committed such wrong doing in the past, not since the 2 years I have been with them. This whole thing started this year. Now, I found out they have a tendency to change their policies on the whim and force all their customers, both new and old to abide by their changes.
In my case.. Not only did their fees drove one of my 2 accounts into the negative by 332.00. They turned around and took this same amount out of my other account to bring my first account current without my permission. That money they took was for my rent and other bills I have to pay in order to maintain my home. Now I am forced to seek other means in regarding the monies they blatantly stole from me. According to csr and her supervisor (Even if it really was a supervisor) they had the absurdity to tell me they were doing me a favor. I honestly don't see how that is the case considering that they only substituted one problem with another. Just that this new problem, they don't consider it their concern. They got their money. I would like to know how I can fight this? I am in the process of hunting for another banking institution, hopefully a more honest one.
Honestly I can understand that a bank has the right to collect whatever monies owed but not at the expense of causing major distress to customer and/or placing them in a situation that can disastrous to themselves as well as their families. I hope anyone can tell me where I can go.
USAA Federal Savings Bank is fraud. They transferred about $500, 000 of our military income and investments to a third party who told them my husband and I were divorced. We were not, and USAA did not require any record of proof, only word of mouth of a thief. All our accounts were cancelled. This was all done with no contact from this bank to me, and I held two POA, one at the bank and one filed in my town. I have MS, and with no income, could not hire an attorney. All bank policies should be in writing, 1) the depositor is consulted before any adverse action taken on their accounts.
I find usaa a great bank a lot better than b of a but I currently was low on funds and found an overdraft fee of $25 now I was wondering if this is a one time fee or will it be a fee everyday cause I am out in the field and have no internet and cant send money from another bank...
I am truly unhappy with their advertisement of knowing what Military Members, Retired and their Families go thru, I became Disabled while on Active Duty and was Medically Retired, Like every Seperated Veteran knows, there is that small time while awaiting a VA Rating and also waiting for Social Security Disability, that one falls behind with their creditors resulting in a tarnished credit score, so when you try to borrow or even get a credit card from USAA, you are denied ! based on ones credit score alone, with no regard to the situation involved, just as a large commercial would do. I want it to be know that USAA does'nt know what we go thru and has no right to claim their relationship with Military...Pissed of and Pissed on.
I have been a member of USAA for 30 years, and was a former employee. The bank has gotten far worse in the last five years. They are difficult to reach by phone, they have much shorter business hours, they are downright stuffy and not customer service oriented. They are truly "The Bank of NO". They are still good in a few respects, but in many ways they are becoming daily like Bank of America. When you seek assistance from them they try and cross sell financial planning and other products and ask a lot of obtrusive and personal questions, that are really none of their business like, "Why don't you have an emergency cash fund set up?" when they place holds on your account. It is like they don't want to help you, they just want to cross-sell and take advantage of your misfortune. The UPS Deposit thing is a joke. Their hold policies have changed - yes, they are more like Bank of America except they do not have the ATM's and branches they do. You can do better. I don't recommend them. Not sure why I am still with them except that I like having all my insurance and banking in the same place. Perhaps it is time to move on.
I have done my banking with USAA for over 20 years and it is only in this past year that I have started to have problems. I monitor my account daily and expect the information to be accurate. Yes, times are tight. I transfer money as needed to cover my expenditures, but the money is there. USAA posts withdrawn checks before posting deposits that occurred on the same day so that they can charge overdraft fees. Their answers are scripted and unhelpful. Emails don't even address the concerns or issues that are brought up. It is if they aren't even read. After 20 year I cannot trust USAA with my money. All banks are not the same. Some are there for their customers. You just have to look. You can find a local bank that will treat you like a person.
I am posting everywhere I can to warn people about USAA and their horrible treatment of customers (members) - USAA Mortgage is run by mexican immigrants, I am totally convinced of that! Our VA Mortgage Processor, could not communicate well at all (and I think she cursed out my husband in Spanish) therefore, I will tell everyone I know AND the VA loan center about how Veterans and their families are treated.
I applied alnong with my husband for a VA Refinance a month ago. My husband is 100% disabked as a result if service in Afghanistan- a grenade exploded under him during a "sweep". He is a grunt, an infantryman and would die for his country- and he almost did! Anyway, our VA Processor kept telling us he has to pay the 3.3% funding fee. Then, she changed her mind and said no he did not. She refused to accept any paperwork from the VA with his rating. This incompetant [censored] mexican lady put us through hell and back! It finally came to the point that our lock expired not once but twice on us. Had we gone through with the USAA refinance, we would have had another half a percent tacked on to our rate.
I am thinking that this malicious treatment has to be criminal or fraud. I find it hard to believe that a fortune 500 organization would be so "politically correct" in its hiring to reflect the large mexican american population in TX without regard to skill or merit. I understand that they have a consumer reporter on KENS 5 in SA. I have contacted him and they will be airing an expose on USAA Mortgage Services in early Feb 2011.
I want to vomit when I think of the bad people there.
yea usaa is know joke... and they are capable of shooting you with your own gun. i was a card member for one month and i mean one month, now before i go into detail about my circumstance they approved me for a platinum credit card with a limit of 25k. i have 800 scores with all 3 bureaus and very little debt with the exception of my home which i have more than 200k in equity. i own a dealership so i basically use my credit to purchase vehicles and sale them with my dealers license which is why i got the card to began with. my first few weeks made a few transactions everything was ok. i ordered the convience checks that come with the credit card, and used one check to make a purchase at the dealers auction for 15k and 2 days after it posted they rejected it and there excuse for rejecting it was altered fictitious and then locked my account and requested my drivers license front and back, social security card, utility bill, and proof of income, which i sent them all the documents including my tax return from the previous 2009 which verifies i made 90k and do you know they still didnt release the hold, they told me to check online every other day and if im able to log into my account then it was resolved, and if not keep calling and checking. to top it off they started declining transactions that had already taken place before the big transaction scared them half the death, so i ended up coming out the pocket 15k which took 3 weeks so the auction wouldnt terminate my credit with them. my very plan was to pay them every month in full anyhow which is how i pay all my credit cards, because of my business i make the money back quick, its just unfortunate that usaa didnt get to see how good of a customer they had out of fear. anyhow to make a long story short i just stop checking the account online and gave up, this bank i figured would be very reputable but hey thats life. bofa, citibank, and all those major banks have there faults like most banks but one thing i can say is they can appreciate a good credit card consumer.
USAA FAILS BIG TIME. Untold emails and telephone calls NOT responded to in re. to disputing a crooked merchant charge. Finally, a customer service rep. said "oh, we are having problems with our email system". NO apologies offered! I wasted so much time. I sent PLENTY of documentation for PROOF. If anyone took the time to read it the determination would be in favor on my behalf. Additionally, USAA never initially asked for supporting proof (i.e. an affadavit) re. the bad transaction. The rep. just told me to fax a brief synopsis of what transpired. I did such and felt that it was a no-brainer that the ruling would be in my favor. The rep. had the audacity to say, "well, in these credit card disputes it is a he said she said". What happened to standing behind the carholder? The consumer! The merchant simply did NOT deliver or install product. Now, UNBELIEVABLY, my account has been charged $4, 00.00 and what gets me so mad is that the merchant got away with it by writing a letter to USAA VISA full of lies and inconsistencies. This bank DOES NOT stand behind the cardholder. Boiler plate responses and ZERO customer service.
USAA was once the bank to deal with for all your needs but THIS HAS CHANGED! GO ELSEWHERE. FIRE THE CEO ROBLES too!
OK, I have to say that it is INDEED PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. Due to the fact that USAA is solely an internet based company that means transactions hit automatically (unless you are one of the few who still write checks). Thus, even if you swipe your card, and it is declined (Since all credit/debit machines operate ONLINE) he transaction will already be sent to USAA causing overdraft fees. I have done this once and will and always will admit it to be my own negligence at not keeping trck of my spending. I have now had USAA for almost 3 years and I am still extremely happy with them. Lost or Stolen cards are always hard on out credit score because there will always be that one very dishonest person who will try and screw you over. You cannot bliam a company in its entirety over one dishonest person.
I've been with USAA for 11 years and not once have I had a problem. If they charged you the $29.00 fee then the chances are you were overspending. Sorry but EVERY bank AND credit union that I've managed my funds through STRESS that people should be keeping a register. If you had that many transactions go through and or NOT going through and getting charged THAT much in OD fees then evidently you didn't keep a register. Also...quite a few of the merchants out there DON'T immediately put a transaction through. What they do is a pre-approval ($1.00) and then you get your receipt and go on about your day. If on Friday you make a transaction and then Saturday you make 5 transactions, the balance that you call and get that Saturday night probably isn't going to be right. That's why it's imperative that you keep a register. I've worked in banking for 9 years and we cannot stress this enough. It doesn't matter how much you call or hop online and check your account...things do not immediately update. You purchase $45.00 in gas and pay at the pump, you will only see a $1.00 charge on your account...not until a few days later will you see that actual $45.00 processed.
Another thing is this...USAA and all other banks CANNOT changed their policy without first informing their members and customers. It's a federal law that they have to abide by that law or they are HEAVILY fined by the government. If you didn't read that letter, that is at no fault of USAAs. Just try to keep the register and ALL of your receipts and BALANCE your account daily if you do that much spending.
Also--If someone gets locked out of their online access due to reoccurring problems with a credit card, that bank is protecting your information. You may not understand and that is your fault for not educating yourself in the matter. All you have to do is ask an associate and you WILL get answers.
terrible service!
My father has USAA for auto insurance. He's been with them for years. They specifically state on their website that USAA is for military and children of current policy holders. Since my dad has a policy and I am his child, I am therefore eligible. I did an on-line quote then I called USAA and spoke with a woman. I asked her if I could fax her my current policy with Amica and could she compare what USAA was offering me versus my current policy. The woman said that was fine and she looked over my policies after I faxed them to her. Then she called me back and said USAA was offering more for less. I signed up with her and USAA charged my credit card for 6 months. The whole time I told them who my dad was (over the phone and on their on-line quote). Well, after I paid and dropped my current auto insurance carrier, USAA said I was not eligible and I had 60 days to get insurance with another carrier. They said my dad was not an officer and they had to write him a policy for some unknown reason and therefore I was not eligible. However, their eligibility says child of an existing policy holder with no other exclusions written. They admitted they made a mistake writing me a policy but refuse to let me keep my existing policy I just opened with them. I tried to go back to my former carrier and now they are quoting me $17 more per month. After talking to my old company, they said what USAA did was illegal. They also advised me to ask Amica to act like the policy had never been closed. Amica also said this was illegal and not possible.
Been on phone over two hours trying to close credit card! Passed to 5th person then says hour wait! Getting the run around and will file complaint with MD Attorney Generals office.
I work in a secure area and cannot have cell phone. So sitting at my desk I CANNOT get customer service to help me. They say they HAVE to verify me thru text.
i am writing because i been a member for 24 years and because of individual mix up ,i had to renew my membership and charged additional fees.
This is the third time. Why..
usaa is holding my social security payment from me, due to possible fraud against me. i showed them what is going on and now they are holding my funds for 60 days, I am disabled and need my meds but have no money to pay anything
I have NOT been able to log in. My account was locked. Have tried to phone, every time I try the lines are busy.
I'm a bit discussed. When will I get to check my account?
I would like to check my account.

USAA are not paying claims for Members to our hospital. When we call we get the run around. We get hung up on. USAA owes $360,000 on one member. I have called twice a month for several months. I have 7 times. We have sent medical records 4 times.
This claim Must Move Forward. I am Tired of sending pictures to Tiffany in Tampa. How many more pictures does she need? Is there a company standard? What is it, 73, 22, 51, "more"? Get this claim moving, or reassign this claim from Tiffany in Tampa. Now, please.

The adjuster has not contacted me regarding the claim for over a week and has delayed the repair to my vehicle to the point that my rental car coverage will expire prior to my repairs being completed.

I change my phone because i change phone number, now what my new phone is [protected], David Blackwell any help would be pleasing for me,my new mailing address is 1500sandyspring road unit 70 Houston Texas 77042
I have had USAA auto insurance for over 60 years. Payment is automatic each time. I just need proof payment to show DMV.
terrible company to work with!
Our new 3 month old car got hit from the rear by a USAA customer who was also hit from behind. However the USAA customer did not take the particulars of the 3rd car so we claimed USAA instead. USAA came back and denied our $150 claim for a bumper trim replacement, claiming that their customer was not at fault as she was pushed into our car. I disagree with that decision as her customer WAS AT FAULT for letting the 3rd driver go.
USAA has been terrible to work with as their customer service representative keep insisting that it was not their customer's fault without pursuing beyond that fact. Their lack of decisiveness to settle a small claim amount has let to this complaint that may cost them much more.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
CS person mailed check to dealership instead of me. Now the dealership does not have to forful my request of what I wanted done to my vehicle. Now I have a car not complete . Damn damn damn! And I like USAA, but never thought they would do me, ex military person like this.

I am asking you to take a look at your involvment with the NFL.
I don't think it's good that a company that is based on our military should do business with the NFL as long as players disrespect our flag.
Do the right think, you need to put your clients first.
Until the apologize & Protestant a different time you should pull your ads.
usaa is the worst company I have ever dealt with and only the ingorant / people whom have never had to make a claim would make a comment such as "usaamember" did. shop around and guarenteed you will find ie: state farm homeowners $500 less per year then usaa and auto ins. for two vehicles for a year is $400 less. WOW! The only thing you get with usaa is them saying it's special insurance catered to military and miltary family members...THAT IS IT! WOOPEE! THEY SUCK! I am in the process of taking them to court. My lawyer has taken the case with no money up front and says that they are negligent and that we have a solid case against them. That is all I'm able to say at this time but trust me USAA in my opinion is very CROOK-ED! Do your homework with the rates...you'll see. Check out all the complaints to. There are thousands of them. Legitimate ones! This company should be ashamed of themselves! So should the THREE people that defend them.
I followed this link out of curiosity because I've never heard a complaint about USAA. I've been a USAA member for 32 years (that means I'm insured with USAA).
The previous posters have pointed out the obvious. You're trying to harm the reputation of this company because they didn't pay you $150, when it was YOUR responsibility to collect the information from the party at fault. As has already been pointed out, the USAA driver was not at fault, and USAA should not pay.
This is a classic case of transference. You're transferring your anger at yourself for not getting the driver information from the party at fault to the innocent USAA drver.
As another poster suggested, call your insurance and ask if they'd pay in the same scenario.
You're the one who is responsible for your inability to collect from the party responsible. Sometimes the truth sucks.
You are being ridiculous. It was your responsibility to get the at fault party's information. USAA did exactly what any other prudent company would do. The policy contract says liability it used to pay bodily injury and property damage if you are negligent and af fault for the accident. The person behind you is your equal in the senario.
If the situation was reversed , then would you expect your insurance company to pay for the other person's damages, regardless of cost? Why did you not stop the person from leaving? It is not fair that the woman who was pushed into you should pay for your damages. Contact your insurance company and ask if they would have paid. I've worked for several different insurance companies and not a one would pay if their insured was not at fault.
As a Highway Patrolman I understand, but I side with USAA. That accident is what we call a domino accident. The first domino fell so the rest collapse. Well the first domino is at fault and information should have collected from the first vehicle that rear ended the second vehicle.

Same happened to me now. The person insured by them backed into my car. First they tried to deny their responsibility. Then they didn't want to send appraiser because they want to save cost. Three week passed by. I am still trying to get hold of appraiser. I am very disappointed at their service
