These crooks are either selling or gifting my email address to their "partners" ('CarAdvise' in this instance) for SPAMMING purposes. Imagine demanding someone click to unsubscribe from an unsolicited spam email! The sheer nerve is appalling. I'm now fairly certain all the other UNSOLICITED SPAM emails and phone calls I've received originate from USAA by making my information available. I called the spammer, CarAdvise, who confirmed they received my email address from USAA. End of story.
Of course, USAA employees kept denying responsibility when I called. One supervisor, named Bill, didn't want to transfer me up the chain of command. TYPICAL. I insisted and spoke to upper management. Each new agent checked my profile to see that I've requested NO EMAILS from their "partners". Tanalynn, the 2nd supervisor I spoke to, filled out a form to stop USAA partners from mailing or calling me with solicited spam. She did the same thing for my husband. She was VERY helpful. It seems even when I choose not to be solicited by USAA on my profile on their website, I'm forced to jump through all kinds of hoops to stop being harassed! Tanalynn escalated my call to Thomas at the CEO's office. He was VERY helpful. Thomas escalated this to an advocate in "3rd party perks" who will be contacting me soon. I HAD TO SPEND WELL OVER AN HOUR ON THE PHONE WITH USAA TO STOP THEM FROM SPAMMING ME!
Recommendation: Caveat Emptor - buyer beware ...
