Steak 'n Shake the worst customer service ever

The waitress took two white men order then walked away only to come back and seat a whole white family that just walked in after I waited well over 10 minutes just for her to come back. This was THE WORST and MOST RACIST experience I've ever had at any steak and shake experience. I am just appalled and very disappointed. The manager came out and took my order and the cooks started on my food when the rude waitress left me there waiting. I will never go to this establishment again!

Steak 'n Shake menu

I was so excited to be getting a Steak n Shake in Dayton, TN. We went there and ate but I could not believe that they only have 6 items on the menu and only burgers. How can a corporate establishment decide to only serve 6 burgers, fries, and shakes at this location? I have been to different steak n shakes and this is the only location that is that way and no waitresses. I always get a burger but other people don't and my spouse will not go back to this location because of that reason. Also no child's menu? This location has been packed since opening on Monday but I don't think it will make it if the menu doesn't change. When I asked the cashier she couldn't tell us why there is only 6 items on the menu and she said it would always be that way. I don't understand the mind set of this. I have heard a lot of complaints because of it and I would love for this establishment to survive. If the menu doesn't change I don't believe that will happen.

Steak 'n Shake service

This particular restaurant needs HELP.
Recently complained to the corporate office about lack of service and management. The store manager called, apologized and sent me $25.00 in gift cards. We have been back three or four times. Tonight was the last time. The people in front of us were seated and then we were. Several other people came in after us and were seated. The people in line in front of us sat next to us and were waited on immediately. People after us were waited on.
I had to flag a server down and ask when we would be helped, so he came and took our order. We sat and sat and sat, the people who came in just before us had eaten and were paying their bill. The people who came in after us were finishing their meals and getting ready to leave. We had NO REFILLS and NO FOOD. We got up went to the cashier which happened to be the manager. I told her what had happened and that we were leaving. She never said I am sorry. Will never go back to this location.

Steak 'n Shake unauthorized credit card charges

My name is Vincent Stephens. On Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Somerset, KY Steak 'n Shake resturant, an unauthorized credit card charge was applied to my credit card. I paid for an order with my Visa credit card, the waitress took my card and returned moments later with my card and stated that my card was accepted. My account states that 2 $25 charges were applied to my card. My total bill was about $20 total. I need my charges corrected and the remainer of the charges applied back to my Visa card.

Steak 'n Shake pittsburgh store, 410 clairton blvd

My family and I have come to this Steak and Shake location several times. I kept hoping the visits would get better but they only got worse each time. The first time I came with my family the service was slow, a waitress was yelling curse words at her manager, telling him to [censor] off, get the [censor] away from her (while my 6 year old triplets are there) . The manager saw I was pissed and provided a discount on my check. My daughter choose to come my second visit for our mother daughter lunch. There were so many tables needing bussed they could not seat anyone. After waiting 20 mins I was finally seated, it took another 20 mins for my waitress to come over and take our order. I ordered a pumpkin spice milkshake this particular day. My daughter and I received our meals, I asked about my milkshake and was told (rudely) when it is done she would bring it to me, my milkshake came after I had finished my food. The manager on duty this day seen how long it took and took my milkshake off my bill. The last visit was this past Friday, again too many tables needing bussed to be seated, the hosted stood behind the counter with no one to check out and would not touch a table. Finally, one waitress started to clear tables to get people seated. I unfortunately, was seated in the section that the waitress who waited on me my last visit was waiting tables at. I immediately told my husband this was not going to be a pleasant experience. The waitress came to our table right away took our orders and my husband and I ordered 2 waters plus my table of five each ordered a milkshake. It took over 25 mins for our food to come, when the food came I asked about the milkshakes, rudely I was told when they are done she will bring them out, mind you it has been approximately a half hour for us to get our food, we should have had shakes by then. She does not offer to get us more waters or anything else to drink for my children that had nothing to drink. I had asked for a fork because I got chili cheese fries she walked away as if she was going to get it and she failed to come back to our table the rest of our visit. When she brought our food she also brought our check and that still had milkshakes on it. My husband and I had to share our waters with the kids so that they had something to drink, I never received my milkshakes, I went to check out asked for a manager and that same hostess told me she could not find him (she did not go looking for him, just looked over her shoulder). I asked her to remove my milkshakes as I never got them and was finished with my meal. The managers on my previous visits were able to kind of smooth over the issues at this restaurant this time they hid in the back. I kept trying to give this establishment chance after chance because my kids enjoy your food. I can go to McDonalds and have better service, eat in a clean place and be treated with more respect than I have experienced in my three attempts at this place. I left that day not giving a tip to the waitress, this is the first time in my 41 years of life I have not tipped. If you do not do something soon this place is going to go to hell. It is poorly managed and the staff working there is only there for the paycheck they could give a rats [censor] less about the patrons. I am extremely disappointed and told several patrons on my way out to turn around and go somewhere else. It is not worth the aggravation.

Steak 'n Shake everything about the steak and shake in muncie, indiana

First, the restaurant is always dirty. Napkins, french fries, etc. all over the floor. I can only imagine what the restroom looks like.

Secondly, we went last evening and had to wait maybe five minutes for a table, which was not bad. However, this is the third time in a row when the restaurant was not particularly busy that we waited over an hour for our food. Nothing complicated, no milk shakes. I ordered a single with bacon and cheese and my husband ordered the Royale. After about ten minutes, the waiter came back and asked if he wanted an egg on his Royale. Well, the egg is what makes it a Royale!

Finally, our plates came. Fries were cold. I didn't even look at my sandwich as my attention was on my husband's plate. The eff was not properly cooked and raw egg yolk was running all over the plate, soaking into the bun. All that was on his sandwich was the burger patties and undercooked egg. No bacon, no condiments, nothing! I wish I had taken a picture as this was unbelievable!

We used to eat here a couple times a week but no more.

We took our receipt to the counter and told the cashier we would not be paying as the food was not edible. She asked if we wanted to speak to the manager. What good would that do? Wait another hour for a new plate?

So disappointing!

Steak 'n Shake closing early

Every time I go to Steak and Shake my order is wrong. They are always rude. Tonight I went in there at 9:20 through drive thru and no one came on the speaker. I was very confused so I called the store and there was no answer. I then went inside and they wouldn't serve me and said they were closing early. There were customers still eating in the restaurant. I just found it very unprofessional.

Steak 'n Shake accuracy of order

I deliberately went in and ordered because the drive thru always gets the order wrong! While I waited for my order, two different people complained about their orders.
My order came up:

I ordered 2 double hamburgers with fries, one double cheeseburger with onion rings, and a frisco melt with cheese fries.
I received 2 double cheeseburgers with fries, and one single hamburger . I had to ask for the fries for that burger.

Of course, I didn't open the burgers up at the restaurant so I got home with 2 mistake burgers after waiting 40 minutes at the counter.

Steak 'n Shake dine in / horrible management

We just left the Martinsville Indiana Steak and Shake and it was a horrible experience. 7 families walked in to eat during our 45 mins of being there and left because no one attempted to seat them. Each guest waited at least 10-15 minutes before walking out. The manager was unpleasant & unapologetic. No one smiled, no one said welcome to steak and shake, how can I help you, may I take your order. It was the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. One of the waitresses walked out before her shift ended, one was crying, and the manager was horrible. This store needs new management & staffing. There is no way anyone who was there tonight will be repeat customers and you had at least $300 walk out the door because they weren't seated. No one was there to check us out when we were done eating no one asked if we wanted desert or add ons like the fry seasoning. This is a complete joke and I will be surprised if changes aren't made that this store will make it. I will not be back to this specific Steak and Shake and it will be a while before I want to go to any other one. This store truly needs to get their [censor] together & someone needs to step up and manage their employees, organize them, and be able to run a store and be plesant.

Steak 'n Shake shakes and service

We went through the drive thru and ordered 4 milk shakes and paid 16.50 the cups were only half full with ice cream the rest of the cup was whip cream. Plus we waited for them for 15 minutes. We called and asked for the manager and was told to come in and speak to Charles. My husband went in and the manager got an immediate attitude with my husband. All we wanted was our money back and an apology because we feel that we were ripped off. This is by far the worst customer service I have ever witnessed. I have been a restaurant manger before. Not to mention we never received the receipt from our purchase. My husband was told by the manager we understand you work hard for your money but we have to make a living too.

Steak 'n Shake service problems 2 different days

I have gone to the restaurant 2 different days to order shakes for my family. Both times in the drive thru was informed any orders for shakes or food would take over 30mins. I wouldn't have complained of it hadn't been 2 days in a row that this has happened.
I appreciate the notice in advance of the issue but not only mine but many other car orders that have driven off because of no orders being taken.

Steak 'n Shake only 2 servers/wait time/horrible service

Went to the Steak and Shake at 1251 Strongbow Center Dr in Valparaiso, IN at around 5:45pm. Half the tables were still empty, but there was a wait to be seated and about 5 people waiting in front of us. After about waiting 10 minutes, a group of college-age guys came in and almost knocked over our 4 year old son as they literally shouldered their way to the front of the line and were seated within about 20 seconds. The staff had all seen us waiting--(both of the servers waiting on about 15-20 people)
I had to leave or I was going to scream and hurt someone.

They may have had unexpected employee absence which resulted in short-staffing. In regards to the gentlemen that proceeded to the front of the line, is it possible that they had a reservation or had called ahead?

"I had to leave or I was going to scream and hurt someone."
I hope this is just hyperbole.

Steak 'n Shake food cold

We got a double steak burger with fries and they were both cold... cheese was not melted on the sandwiches It seems like anymore when we eat there the food is awful The fries looked like they were sitting around for awhile... Our tea was awful too not very sweet.. This happened in Peoria, Il on Saturday November 25.. around 12:45 p.m. And it was not busy in there and it took over an half an hour to receive our food.. People came in after us got their food before us, just not happy with this I am requesting a refund please Vicky Ackley 204 Railroad Street, Vermont, Il

Steak 'n Shake poor customer service

I went to the Steak ‘n Shake in Beavercreek today. I asked the girl who took the order Brittany to repeat it. She rudely said I've got it and refused to repeat my order. Quite frankly the kids working in there need an adult manger on duty at all times. When the GM is not there they play, give customers cold food, the wrong food and are rude. My friend was 5 cars a head of me and her food was cold. I was told mine was fresh but it was barely warm.

Steak 'n Shake they give me no milkshake

I ordered a delicious medium mint Oreo milkshake. I told my server that I wanted that and it looks like she wrote it down. But little do I know she probably didn't write it down and not even on the bill was there the order for the milkshake. I'm upset and displeased with this and would like for your steak and shake staff to make sure that each and every customer receives everything they order. Thank you for your time.

Steak 'n Shake service

Walked in to many dirty tables. Two employees talking about their evening plans instead of cleaning tables. Finally, sat the people in front of us and told another table she will be right with them to take food and drink order. Then began clean a table for us. Upon seating us we pointed out an extremely dirty floor under and around the table she sat us at. "I'm sorry I've got a table to wait on you'll just have to deal with it." This is an apaulling response. Filthy floor in the window and drink area. One of the poorest experiences I have ever had a steak and shake. It isn't pleasant that the floor is dirty but we understand being busy. If she had I'm so sorry if you just give me a min I will grab it for you. Instead we were provided with an excuse why she wouldn't be able to get to it the entire time we are here. There are two servers working with seven active tables. They should be able to handle that with out a problem and a mess on every open table.

Layla was our server this evening. I hope for better next time if there is a next time.

Steak 'n Shake bad service

Around 5:30/6:00 pm I visited Steak 'n Shake on 3525 Thurmom Tanner Pkwy in Oakwood Ga. To begin it took about 5 minutes for us to be seated and the restaurant was not full maybe 4 tables were occupied. When we sat down our waiter pressured us to hurry and order then after we ordered maybe two minutes later she asked us to pay because she was leaving. When we payed she didn't ask if we wanted the recipt she just threw it away. A couple minutes later we asked for it because if she was leaving how were we supposed to prove we had already paid her response was " I threw it away and i'm not digging in the trash to get it " in a very rude tone. At this point we were over it we just wanted our milkshakes but when we got them they tasted as if they were not mixed very well. To add along with the bad service the place wasn't even clean. Overall not a good experience.

Steak 'n Shake bad service

on 11/23/2017 at 11:08 pm i visited steak n shake 616 and ordered a western burger made into a triple with no fried onions and the waitress put triple chsburger/ff add bacon no amer chs-2 s1 add pepper jack add fried onions.she brought it to me and i sent it back because it had onions on it, i told her i wanted a fresh one made and she brought me another one with no bbq sauce on it, i sent it back and then when i went to pay i asked for my bill to be cheaper because of what i went through and the manager gave me a small discout which i felt it wasnt good enough due to the wait and everything i had to go through to get this taken care of.

Steak 'n Shake drive thru ordering

I've never seen a place operate the way these employees operate during midnight hours. I was there on 11/24/17..around 3am. This is now the 3rd time this same location has done this!

They make you wait by the order screen until you leave. Every time you try to make your order, they tell you to hold on. So I wait 5 exactly minutes and finally I said "hello" can I order now? They will continue to say the same thing till you drive off. How the hell can you have such rude and ghetto people handle customers food?!

If you try to talk and make your order, They will keep telling you to hold on please. Crazy part is, there is not one person in the drive thru line or in the store! So what's the damn issue? This is the 3rd time they done this in the past week. They do it to almost every customer that's comes at midnight. After last night, I had to file a complaint! Everyone at the midnight shift at the Steak ‘n Shake needs to be fired!

After eating steak and shake and going there for almost 10 years now. I will never go back to a drive thru or walk in to a Steak ‘n Shake Franchise. I don't even care if the problem is fixed. This is something I've never experienced in my life. Something I don't want to deal with again.

Seems like steak and shake hires employees that don't even graduate through middle school. After waiting almost 15 minutes for someone to finally say something. I told them how I feel and also told the staff I'm filing a complaint about this. They all came outside trying to fight me while I was in my car! What kind of [censor] place is this? This just tells me how unprofessional and terrible Steak ‘n Shake is as a company. Not like I care anymore honestly. Steak and shake will never see my $$ after this incident. Couldn't even pay me to eat there! That's how disgusted I am with this whole situation!

Steak 'n Shake location at us hwy 19, clearwater, fl

We arrived at that location 11:01am this morning wanting breakfast. Young fellow at door asked a woman at the grill & she said no. It was past 11. There were 3 tables occupied so definitely not swamped. We are now at Perkins & just finished breakfast. We were very disappointed that your personnel would allow customers walk out on such a small time frame. We visit this location often, but given the way we were treated, there are alot more restaurant options available in our area, so will rethink this.

Many restaurants have set hours for breakfast. No matter how little time has passed, if it is passed breakfast hours then the breakfast is over. It is rude for you to come in after the fact and expect to have rules changed just for you. I'm sure they have people come in almost every day after breakfast hours that wish they would have been able to get breakfast, and it would certainly not be fair to those other customers for an exception to be made for you.
