My name is Erik D. Morris, I am originally from Flint, Michigan but, I moved to Richardson, Texas, in June 2009. Once I was in Richardson, I set out to find myself a new State Farm agent, I have been went State Farm in MI for three years. Now when I had to deal with MI State Farm agent Steven D. I had no problem at all in three years, he always went out of his way to make sure I was happy, but since I moved to Texas, I had to find another agent. So I went to the State Farm office belonging to Richard F. Handley, his staff was very nice, and friendly. I felt like this was another great State Farm office, but man I was so wrong. From the start it seemed like this people were complete idiots, they couldn’t even understand how to draw money out of my account; I paid June insurance in full. Now in July they are supposed to automatic withdraw the car insurance out of my account which included renters insurance. I haven’t heard anything from them in all of July. So on July 22, 2009, I was sent a paper from State farm telling me that they couldn’t withdraw the money out of my account because they are so ###ed, and my insurance was getting ready to be canceled. My insurance was supposed to be withdrawn from my account on July 16, 2009. So it took them 6 days to tell me that they couldn’t withdraw their money out of my account. I live in Richardson, TX which in about 20 minutes from Richard F. Handley’s State Farm office, so I am really close to them, from my job it is like 5 minutes away. So instead of calling me (like most companies the want their money would do), they didn’t do anything, Richard F. Handley’s office has my cell phone number (because I don’t have a house phone, so my cell phone is always on, night or day), they have my email address (which I check everyday, like 5 times in a 8 hour shift at work, and I check it again before I go to sleep), they have my emergency contact number (who is my only cousin that I have in Richardson, TX and I talk and see him every other day.). Now despite all of this Richard F. Handley’s and his staff did nothing to contact me, but they did send me a letter 6 days later. So on July 29, 2009 I talk to them and they said they want their money for July, I understand that they deserve their money but, if they would have just called me I would have took my lunch break earlier, went to the bank, and paid them their $127, this whole process doesn’t make any sense. If they couldn’t withdraw their money on July 16, 2009, then on July 17, 2009 they should have called me and I would have paid them. I don’t think it is right that they waited to the end of the month to tell me about this, I don’t think I should have to pay because they dropped the ball. It’s not about the money it is about the principal of the fact that they dropped the ball and I should have to pay for their mistakes. On July 29, 2009, I went to Geico to get insurance and they made it so much easier, they were fast, friendly, and fun. I will never return to State farm as a customer, my dad, mom, step mom, older brother, younger brother, and about 6 other people are leaving State Farm after the way I was treated and are going to Geico, trust me go to Geico, you won’t be sorry.

You know what else will suck...when you get in a car accident and State Farm finds a way to get out of paying a claim like they are doing to me right now. I have been waiting for 4 months to collect a check for my friends car and after they told me it would be covered they are now saying that they may not. That really sucks. I wouldn't count on State Farm.

Just an FYI, insurance goes with the car, not the driver. If you have permission from a friend to drive their vehicle, and you wreck it, you are covered on their policy. So they would have to file a claim on their policy. Your policy won't extend to their vehicle.

In response to the above complaint: I am sorry Erik that you did not have a good experience with State Farm. However-you did not give us the correct banking information for us to draft out of. 2-once we did get the correct banking info-you did not have sufficients funds in your account. Numerous times were you contacted by our staff and we failed to get a call back from you. We have tons of clients that are more than happy and pleased with our office!

Best of luck in the future!

i have had state farm since 1985. i have never put in a claim, and i have never had an accident. i was informed last week that my policy was suspended last october. i wasnt informed about it this october. so i've been driving around for a year with no insurance. i got a call from the state farm agent wanting to know if i wanted to reinstate my policy. i said yes, and told her i didnt suspend it in the first place. she couldnt tell me who did. so now, i get a letter stating that my policy has been reinstated, they ran a credit check and my rates are almost double from what they were before. i also got a letter saying that the credit check was not the reason for rate increase. can anyone tell me the reason? state farm cant, or wont.

Hi pibull63...Most likely something about your situation changed, driving record etc. Make sure that the DMV has the correct information. State Farm cannot charge you higher rates just because. Also, you cannot claim that you were not notified if the company has your correct address. By law, they will automatically send you notification when a policy is going to cancel or has been suspended.

Erik Morris is not too bright...(as identified by his grammar). I am glad that the agent's office responded to him. I guessed before I read the explanation that he gave them the wrong information. Also, if he had a good experience with another State Farm agent, why would he leave the company? I could understand if he just wanted to switch agents. State Farm probably won't miss you and your 6 friends.

Well, Wpayton5599, I am actually very bright, the reason that I switch agents is because I moved to a new state, I can not keep my agent in Michigan and live in Texas. That is against the law, so since I moved to Texas, by state law, I had to switch agents. I am sure they will miss me and my friends and family.

If you were bright you would understand two things.

"Once I was in Richardson, I set out to find myself a new State Farm agent, I have been went State Farm in MI for three years."

1. Bright people do not structure their sentences like this.

2. You switched companies instead of just requesting a new agent in your area, and then you badmouthed the company that took good care of you, because of your particular agent.

This is ###ed...and you definitely sound like a Geico client. You should definitely stick with them.

Mr. Handley, I did not have a good experience with your State Farm Branch. I will send you my phone records that will prove to you that your State Farm Branch, did not call me at all. I know I had sufficient funds in my account. To sum everything up, all you and your branch did was just make excuses, excuses, and more excuses. Excuses are like ###s, everybody has one. All I wanted State Farm to do is own up and take responsibility.

WOW, Wpayton599, you seem alittle angry. I am not a deadbeat, do you have any evidence to prove I am a deadbeat? What do you really know about me? You are just making assumptions off of a complaint I posted online. I am too grown for this you can post anything and everything you would like about me.

I was not defaming people, I was telling everyone how I was treated. Unless you work for Richard then you do not know anything except what he said. What I stated in my post was and is the truth.

No...I do not work for him, and I don't live anywhere near either of you. But I do know a couple of things from the accounts.

1. Regardless of whether the money was properly removed from your account or not, you were still being insured by State Farm during this time. There is no reason for the agent (and in some states it is illegal) to refund you any type of money. You demanding that, is what set me off earlier. You have no right to any type of refund, and you must pay for your insurance.

2. It is apparrant that an auto withdrawal was attempted on the 16th to no avail. Question: Did you provide a voided check from the account. If you did, then the attempt was made correctly and either your bank screwed up or you did.

3. Richard Handley seems like a fair guy. He posted an apology to you after you ripped him and his agency. He also posted that using proper grammar. As an outside observer, and nothing else to go on, I am much more inclined to believe Mr. Handley than you.

Erik, relax! Wpayton599 is a message troll. Click on his name and you will see all he does is go around on this site and make comments. Funny, how he is teaching us a lesson on “defaming people” when that is exactly what he does on this site. Saying your not bright, he calls others on this site ###s.

There is nothing, and I mean nothing you can say to these kinds of trolls to shut them up. They must not get much attention in the real world, but on sites like this they let loose. I am sure he will continue to attack, he might even go after what I am writing here.

Fact is, this site is here just for your type of comments.

Troll, move on, go find a new bridge

Antitroll, You are 100% right, and Wpayton doesn't really bother me at all. Honestly, I am at Starbucks waiting on my on next client. I just think it is really funny how deep he digs to pull something out of nothing. Some how my comments made Payton angry, which I could care less, how or what he feels. Actually everything and anything he can say about me does not bother me at all.

Erik,
I am having a bad experience with State Farm as I speak. My agent, also 'could not' get access to my acct. They never called me, but sent a letter telling me what I owed & that my acct would be suspended as well.
I called her & had to give her my credit card number over the phone.
Then, earlier this month, I called to cancel my insurance way before the 'due date, ' and they still paid themselves for the month. They just took my money anyway!
I will be going down to their office to settle this. And I will go to my bank to change my acct info. ( just in case the want to steal anymore of my money )

Hey Just Meow,

Your problem is easily fixable. If you are on a monthy payment plan, even if you cancel your insurance and the agent processes the cancellation, your monthly plan will still pull because your policy and your payment plan are two separate things. You should see a credit on next month's statement, or if that is your only policy with State Farm, you will receive a refund.

I filed a claim against your company due to a accident that totaled my vehicle on July 5th 2016. 1 month later I had to call and see why/what/ where/ who was going resolve this claim. I got some help that night and felt a little bit better on this process. Here we are 2 months out, still not settled and getting the run around again. rental had to be returned last week. SO I was left with no vehicle to drive while this claim still is not resolved. BAD BAD customer service. I called tonight Sept 2 2016 to get answers. A check was to be overnighted last night. Guess what? NO CHECK!I refused to be given excuses again. DONE with excuses. I apologized to the young lady who tried to help me, and did her best to tell me the process yet to be fulfilled on your end. I DONT CARE about what you need to do. You have had 2 months to settle this. I asked to speak to a manager, Waited and was transferred to Courtney, who stated she would do a electronic claims deposit into my account, I wait 30 mins and this transaction had not happened. IF, I waited 2 months to pay my premium you would have cancelled my policy. TG, I DO NOT USE YOU for my insurance. It is your obligation to settle claims in a timely manner, contact the claimant and keep them abreast of the claims process. YOU FAILED EPIC-ALLY. For a accident that was not my fault, I have had many major inconveniences to deal with, that was unnecessary on your part. It only gets better NOT! I want this resolved and I would expect to have compensation for the stress, aggravation in having to deal with what should have been a simple claim to a nightmare on elm street
