Shoppers Drug Mart terrible customer service

I am sending this e-mail in the hope of getting the attention of shareholders that manage customer relations for Shoppers Drug Mart. My friends and I live in the northeast section of Edmonton Alberta. We usually deal with the store in that end located on 118 Avenue and 34 street.

We have been "ripped off" so many times from this store. Items that are marked down or advertised at a discounted price are "charged at the normal price" frequently. We try to check our receipts while we are in the store but the counters are usually very busy and the clerk and customers behind us "are not very happy to be kept waiting" so we check the receipt in our vehicle or at home. When the clerk is shown the error, we are then treated "as an irritating customer". How is that for "customer service"?

I also want to mention that I have the optimum card and am sent promotions through my e-mail that the store is running for that week. The clerks fail to mention the promotions and when the customer addressed them, they are questioned as to whether this is correct or not. I don't feel I should have to print and prove that your store is running a particular promotion - the clerk should know it! I also feel it is the clerk's responsibility to tell the customer how many points they have on their optimum card and to indicate how much they are worth and do we want to reimburse any. I have never had any of the clerks do this unless I specifically requested it. What is this card good for anyway?

As your customer service is very bad, I don't expect too much from this e-mail. It would be nice to at least know that you have received it and acknowledge the message herein. As of this date, my friends, my daughter and I will no longer shop at the northeast Edmonton store. We do have a Rexall Drug store just a bit further down the road. A bit inconvenient but better "customer service".

By the number of NEGATIVE complaints within your website it is obvious you do not pay attention to customers with complaints. Well, you should. You have alot of competition in this field. I think it is to your benefit to pay attention to us - we pay your salary and keep you alive!

I could not find a website to send this to so it ends up here. Is there no headquarters website because CEO's don't care?

Last month I called in my birth control prescription so it would be ready for pick up when I arrived. When I did arrive which was after the quoted time it still wasn't ready so I waited. After 15 minutes I checked to see if it was ready and it was. No one took the time to tell me considering I was sitting in the waiting room clearly visible to staff.
This month I did the same and called in my order. The woman told me it would be 40 minutes. I double checked with her on the time and hung up. When I arrived to pick up my order the pharmacist told me it would be a minute or two, as she was waiting for the head pharmacist to OK my prescription. I waited and watched the head lady as she stood with her back to me on the computer. She then proceeded to make a phone call, and kept me waiting almost 10 minutes. Eventually I approached the counter and said 'excuse me' she ignored me so I said it again 'excuse me' she turned around and acknowledged me. I said 'I realize your time is valuable, but so is mine if you could just look at my prescription I will be on my way' Finally she took 30 seconds from what she was doing and I got my prescription. And just so this is clear my birth control is simply a box that needs to be put in a bag and given to me, so there was no reason why I should have waited an hour and been treated like my business didn't matter!
I only have 1 refill left and plan on going to Rexall for my next prescription.

I am wondering with the honesty of Shopers drugmart. I bought SUCRETS COMPLETE from 2751 Eglinton Ave East, Toronto yeastarday night, OCT. 29, 2011 for my bad breath and cough releaf but it was giving me more pain with bad cough. To find the reason, I checked the expiry date has been over by 06/2011. This is my complaint against the Shopers Drugmart for selling the expired medicine.

I've never had a problem filling my prescriptions there. They're usually done within 15 mins and they have a pager now that you can carry with you in-store that buzzes when your prescriptions are ready.

You needed a refill on your prescription. Perhaps now you should read the notes appearing on your prescription bag, and on the official receipt. If you would have respected the wishes of all pharmacies, you would have allowed 24 hours for refills. We are not simply slapping a label on something and putting it in a bag for you. We have rules to follow and laws to abide by. Don't get me wrong, I understand the ignorance. I see and hear about it every day. It comes from people like you who think that just because you are the only one in the waiting room, that we have nothing better to do than watch the way you people ignore this request. It is the only business that allows you people to cut in line. You don't realize that almost everyone ignores this 24 hour request. Do you think that maybe you could try to call the pharmacy one day "before" you run out of your prescription? Maybe if you understood our jobs a little better... We enter and fill the prescription, check for interactions, look up dosing, fax doctors to correct errors, order medications, make blister packs for those who require one, make compounds, do medication reviews, fax doctors for refills, deal with third party adjudications, and the list goes on...Just understand that we are filling your prescription for MEDICATION, not fast food. Treat it as such and realize that we are being forced to fill this prescription as quickly as we can without making mistakes. If you have trouble with that, perhaps you should shadow a pharmacy employee for a day. Yes this is a business but most people make me feel like I can't kiss thier butt fast enough. Next time you need to fill a prescription maybe you can keep in mind how much is involved and that you're not ordering a pizza.

Shoppers Drug Mart nocare/concern customer bad business practise / liars

I have purchased expensive cosmetics from shoppers. Offered no samples, gifts when there were available. An event was coming up, Alexis, the cosmetics "manager" phoned me because she knew of my purchases, told me about Lancome event where I was to receive a gift, which I had been waiting for. She had my phone number, was supposed to phone me to let me know the date and time of event. She was going to put my name on a Lancome gift, to be kept aside for me. She did not phone me -- I call after the fact, she gets defensive, starts making excuses PLUS MY GIFT was GIVEN TO ANOTHER PERSON--THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! not even apologetic, defensive again, I must wait for the next gift! How is my gift, with my name, phone number given to someone else? she insults me, wants to get off the phone very quick.
I told her that because of this unacceptable situation I am returning a purchase which I have not opened or used and she says she WILL NOT TAKE IT BACK!
I could have purchased elsewhere where they had a gift but this youngster --put such a spin on this "event" so I lost out
it is a newer shoppers and the staff there dont have proper training if you want to know about cosmetics ie Lancome Clarins etc --tthey just say they are good BEST TO BUY AT THE BAY IF YOU WANT PROFESSIONALS AND ETHICS
I AM DISGUSTED

Shoppers Drug Mart rude

On May 5th 2011 at 5.00 pm I visited the shoppers at BCE place - underground path next to longos. Trying out some lip stick, the next thing I know on of the staffers calls another attendant whispers something in his ear, and as I want around the store they have someone following me. I have never felt so humiliated before, did not want to create a scene as I work at the BCE place in a corporate office. maybe because I was brown skinned I have no idea - but I have often experience very rude staff and attendants at all the shoppers, makes me wonder if the corporate does not have some mandatory training for its staff!

I have purchased this same type of mascara from them in the past on multiple occasions. The cost is $20. Not an inexpensive product and the reason I purchase it is because it does not run or smear. No raccoon eyes. Well I purchased the same product yesterday and half way through the day, the mascara had smudged. When returning home I decided to stop at the...

Shoppers Drug Mart toxic entrance

I can't believe that Shoppers Drug Mart has the gall to inundate customers with that horrible smell of perfumes upon entering the store. Perfumes are filled with all kinds of toxic ingredients, not to mention that many people are allergic to them. They stopped selling cigarettes, but walking into most of the new stores now is like walking into a room filled with cigarette smoke. Why isn't someone doing something about this? Seriously, WHO thinks this is okay? I get my prescriptions and go to the post office there, but have to walk through those toxic smells to get to them. Perhaps I could get my prescriptions somewhere else, but it houses our main post office, so that's unavoidable. All I can say is MOVE THAT SECTION or get rid of it altogether!

toxic?really? which exact ingredients in fragrance is toxic? and where is a link that proves this by a non biased source?
they stopped selling cigarettes because of legislation enacted years ago where no retailer with an existing pharmacy is allowed to sell tobacco products. show us the proof to your claimss that smelling a fragrance is just as toxic as smoking...show me one reputable study.
i suppose they should stop selling toothpaste with flouride in it since a lot of people claim its bad for you.
maybe they shouldn't get their floors waxed since that can leave particles in the air and some people may believe thats toxic.
maybe sick people shouldn't come into the store and sneeze because that could male people ill.
maybe the bay and sears will move their toxic fragrance sections to a locked room to satisfy people like you.
gimmie a break...

Shoppers Drug Mart ignorant uninformed pharmacists

The pharmacists here are among the least caring and illegitimate phamacists I have worked with. They are completely unwilling to do ANYTHING to help out the people, us innocent patients who have been prescribed these fake manufactured drugs to temporarily ease our symptoms, drugs which have terrible side effects and many that make us addicted to them and which DO NOT CURE us. I have gone through hours and hours of phone conversations with these people(pharmacists) and the doctor's offices trying to get them to give me a higher dosage of my medication so that I am not stuck seeing my pharmacist every week to continuously renew my dozens of prescriptions. I am only in my 20's and I cannot imagine how much worse it will be in the future. I also went to the trouble of doing all of this, to be informed that the pharmacy had never recieved a fax from my doctors office to increase my dosage and that I would have to make everyone repeat the process... just because some idiots aren't doing their jobs at recording incoming faxes and updating our files as necessary.

I have also gone in there several times to pick up prescriptions that are not done when they are supposed to be done. How lazy is that? I hate pharmacists.

The Ontario Ministry of Health changed the guidelines recently on prescriptions - doctors need to submit more documentation with prescriptions (to combat fraud and abuse). They also need to submit your Health Card number with prescriptions now. It sucks for people on medication, but a pharmacist isn't a doctor - they are only dispensing your medication. Pharmacists (in Ontario) are not authorized to change your dosage - only your doctor can do that. If the pharmacy didn't get your renewal, it could be their mistake - or it could be your doctor.

Shoppers Drug Mart no insulin

I have been a diabetic since 1994, more than half my life-time. Ever since being recognized with diabetes I have taken Humulin N and Humulin R twice a day. I use syringes to mix the appropriate dosage of these insulins and then inject them. As I have found out today Shoppers Drug Mart stopped carrying Humulin N and R in 10ml vials, they carry them in cartridges so they can charge twice as much for the Humulin and charge for special injection pens and needles. On top this form of injection does not allow the user to mix two types of Humulin, I would have to make four injections per day instead of two and therefore spend more money. I have bought Insulin from Shoppers Drug Mart in the past and spend around $100/month for my medication. Apparently they want me to pay more. I had to go to three separate Shoppers Drug Mart locations before finding one that had Humulin in vials. There are no other pharmacies in my neighborhood. This is a case of medical negligence because they never warned me about changes in the medication they carry. Shoppers Drug Mart carried this medication in 10ml vial for over 20 years, recently they changed the format of injection of this medication so that they can make more money without warning patients who rely on this medication twice and up to four times a day.

Shoppers Drug Mart poor return policy

My Sister purchased a gift "Radio" for myself for Christmas 2010.I did not want radio as I have enough already. So, went to return the radio with receipt in hand. The customer service agent said I would need the original debit card so she could return the amount to the card.I told her it was a gift, I did not purchase it and therefore do not have the debit card used to purchase it.She indicated could not return it, that this was the Shoppers policy.I indicated I am not asking for the cash back, but would be happy to accept store credit. She indicated they could not do that, as reiterated with her Supervisor.I said well that's not acceptable as
my sister is not in the area and I can't expect her to travel or send me her debit card, which I am not authorized to use.Nor would I pay shipping to send her the gift to return.I asked to speak with the Manager. The Manager indicated that they could not give me store credit and only return item to original debit card.I said well, your store is no longer just a Drug Store and that you advertise and promote Christmas gifts. He indicated to me that in fact I was the second customer with the same request in the last 10 mins. I indicated, country wide there is probably a thousand customers trying to return gifts.I then pointed out to the Manager the signage in the store that said "Christmas Gifts
Made Easy", that it was not easy at all and why would the Company take a chance with the loss of revenue to return the purchase to a debit card of the person(s) they have inconvenienced. He threw up his hands and said he would call the Corporate Office as I Requested. Not resolved to date!

I purchased cosmetics from another store and tried to return them to Northland Mall Shoppers in Calgary, the clerk refused to process the returns with the reason that each store is independently owned. She told me to return the items to the store where I made the purchase. I did not see any signs in the store nor was I told of this policy when I made the purchase. There is nothing on the receipt or on the return policy on Shoppers' website to indicate this is true.

I would have to disagree with you completely. How in the world do the employees at Shoppers know that your sister has bought this for you? You could be some random person trying to return stolen goods with a receipt. You have to accept the fact that each company has it's own policy. If you do not like it then well, too bad. The only person inconvenienced was you because you tried to get the employee to refund something that they could not. Continuing, you did not even purchase it so why would it bother you. Shoppers DrugMart did not inconvenience you, you inconvenienced yourself because you wasted your own gas. You need to comprehend the fact, that sometimes you will get Christmas gifts that you do not like and there is nothing you can do about it. If you truly did not want the product then send it back to your sister or give it to someone else! Why waste other people's time over something so silly. They can't refund or exchange it then they can't. On the Shopper's DrugMart website it clearly states, "Shoppers Drug Mart reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of certain merchandise at any time and for any reason." Also it states, "Debit card will be refunded to the original debit card." Stop trying to be a grumpy customer for no reason, you should understand that customers need to follow and respect a company's policy.

Shoppers Drug Mart refusal to accept mostly used antibiotics for environmentally friendly disposal

The pharmacist at the Humbertown Shopper's Drug Mart would not accept unfinished antibitics for environmentally responsible disposal. No other pharmacy has ever refused our attempts to keep drugs out of landfill and public land and water. Sylvia Des-Sahkian is the first who waved us away, disinterested in proper disposal. If you are hiring phar-macists who know less about the impact of the drugs they mix on the environment than the general population who hears it on the news everyday, you should not be in the pharmaceutical business. Educate your employees please or remove them from positions of responsibility.

Sincerely,
Basia Stec

Shoppers Drug Mart poor customer service - pharmacist

Repeatedly treated poorly by male asian young pharmacist.
He was the only one servicing the pharmacy and I waited with my infant son at the RX IN location while after seeing me there he left the pharmacy area to go talk to another employee about sports - noticing me the entire time. The employee he was talking to looked at me and said "someone will be with you shortly" because he obviously felt bad for the pharmacists lack of care. 10 minutes later the pharmacist came to take the prescription - then telling me something was wrong with the prescription and he had to call the doctor. He had nothing to do but refused to call my doctor while I waited and told me he would give me a call. When I asked for the prescription back he refused and said something was wrong and he had to call her. I ended up filling the prescription there (a few hours later - never knowing what was wrong) but will NEVER return there.

Shoppers Drug Mart bogus gift card

A few weeks ago I took advantage of their shopping promos – Spend $50 and get a surprise gift card for Shoppers Drug Mart. I scratched it and revealed a $10 gift card (PLU4478). I put this aside knowing that I would use it again in a 2-3 weekss. When I went to use it, I was very surprised to find an expiration date - missed it by 1 day. The cashier never mentioned it to me at the time she handed it to me. I normally shop when they have 10x or 20x Optimum Points promo, so I never had the opportunity to use their gift card before and assumed it worked like a regular gift card. Since no expiration dates are applied to the points earned at these special promos, the same should hold true of the gift cards - indefinite expirartion date. But if a card has an imminent expiration date, customers should be advised. Otherwise, I think the right thing to do is to offer those customers a regular gift card as a replacement.

This complaint was lodged with their Head Office. Despite their long-winded politically-correct answer, their position boiled down to "tough lucK" .

Considering the number of shopping trips I have made to Shoppers over the years, I thought they could have handled this with more class.

CONSUMER BEWARE: Their promotional gift cards expire within 2-3 weeks.

Just to let you know it is not a "GIFT CARD", it is a promotional coupon. Therefore, they are allowed to expire. You should know that any promotion will not be valid forever, all promotions have a while supplies last or valid until. I find it ridiculous that you complained and got upset over the fact that you did not read the coupon - which by the way, the expiration date was clearly stated.

What is the dress code for the Shopper Drug Mart Staff ? Do they get to wear crocks and flip flops, no socks etc ? Isn't this a health concern, especially for a Health Store.

I dropped off a prescription refill at Shoppers Drug Mart - Montrose Rd. Niagara Falls on January 7, 2012. I went today January 9, 2012 to pick it up. The young lady assisting the Pharmacist could not find the order. She looked through some books and then I heard her ask the Pharmacist "Are you going to sign off on this prescription"? He replied "No". She explained that the script could not be read by the Pharmacist so he refused to fill it. I asked him for the script - I could read it. The girl called my Dr.'s office and they confirmed over the phone the script - he still refused and asked for a new one - however, the Dr. would not be in till the next day to re-do script for me. I needed my blood pressure pills. I asked "why did no one call me at home so I could have taken care of the matter"? No reply. I requested my script back and left. I attended the Dr.;s office seen another Dr. and explained what had happened - he was stunned. I took the new script to another Drug store and low and behold - I could not get my refills because they had been filled and processed already at Shoppers Drug Mart! I thought he could not read the script? Is this fraud? I am pissed! shannon goba very mad consumer!

The gift CASH card promos are a SCAM. In fact all their promos and their 'optimum' program overall is badly administered and not well planned out at all. Half the time the promos overlap BUT you cannot take advantage of that. The CASH cards are NOT treated like CASH at all! There are wayyy too many hoops and rings of fire to jump through. The customer service is the worst ever - from the front lines all the way up to corporate! I just received a reply from 'head office?" - from last year! UNREAL! and NO reference or explanation WHY it took this long! and it was a confused jumble of a response that really did not respond to my actual question! Every store seems to be owned/managed by someone else (hence BUCK PASSING is sooooooo easy!). They say they are open 24 hours BUT many services and stock are NOT THERE! Soooooo WHY be open! EVERY single store has different selection, stock, service (as in mostly NON) and even sales! WHY waste your time giving them your money! They do NOT deserve mine any more! I am spending my time and energy shopping elsewhere - where they VALUE customers! BUB BYE Shoppers - ROTSA RUCK CHUCK! They LOVE to point out ALL their FINE PRINT - BUT ONLy after you find out the hard way. SAVE time energy money - STOP SHOPPING SHOPPERS!

Hi, I went early this morning to the Shopper's Drug Mart (10/08/10 at around 8:00am) seeking the advice of the pharmacist on duty about a burn I had gotten on my hand the night before. When he came around to assist, I noticed he was completely drunk, plastered, gone, he did try to help but I couldn't take him seriously. It was a sad sight. What made it...

Shoppers Drug Mart seniors 20% discount

Shoppers Drug Mart offers a seniors discount of 20% the last thursday of the month. I waited to purchase a $69.99blood pressure monitor expecting to save 20% $14.00 I also got a few other things. The blood pressure monitor had been reduced by $5.00 but was not marked as on sale. I was charged $2.00 more for the only item that was not on sale.
My total savings was $2.20. Totoal savings $.20. No where did it say 20% off on regulared priced items only. I found out at the cash register.
It seems they take of a few dollars off the higher priced items to avoid giving the 20%. As far as I am concerned this is a ripoff. I would have paid the same the day before or after.

I agree totally. Today was the first day ever that I attempted a seniors discount at Shopper Drugmart. Milk regular price $4.29. Today on sale for $3.97. Should have paid $3.44. What gives. There is no benefit to shopping at Shoppers Drugmart as a senior. They only encourage seniors to drive unnecessarily to their store. Nice! That is what is needed more seniors driving unnecessarily. If you can't stand behind your pledge to sell with integrity to the public then please don't.

I don't blame you for being ticked off. Thanks for the warning. There are a few high ticket items I've been waiting to get . . . but now I'm going to keep a close watch on the pricing to see if they reduce it on Seniors Day.

Shoppers Drug Mart rude customer service

Simple situation - Pharmacy staff member takes job frustration on me. Yells at me because they are understaffed and dont have time to fill my prescriptions.
I complained on the survey, called the customer service line and reported problem to a pharmacist at the store.
Everyone is very sorry - if it happens again call them.
I decided to move my business and end collecting optimum points for airmiles.
No one person is regretfull that they lost my business. I thought I would try again to make my point, but customer service really cant figure out the issue.

No customer retention policy or department exists.

I did all my food shopping there -
