Popeyes Employee Behavior and Service

I am writing to complain about an employee at the Popeyes store in Sunland, CA. This employee la name is Sonny. As Popeyes employees go, Sonny is definitely a cut above the rest. He is probably the most manipulative, petty, lying and spiteful person I've ever seen behind a counter at any fast food establishment.

My husband and I went to this Popeyes this past Saturday (8/6/2022) and ordered 8 pieces of chicken, all white meat. That means 4 breasts and 4 wings. Half spicy, half mild. We order the same thing every time, and for some reason the order always presents a challenge to the cashier as to how to ring it up. This time though, the woman who took our order rang it up with no problem - but Sonny was fulfilling the orders. Now, the last time we went into this same Popeyes, Sonny actually told us how to order what we wanted so that we weren’t charged by the piece - which is exactly what we did.

Now comes the fun part. Sonny starts putting to food in the boxes and turns to me and says -

1. He could only give me 2 breasts instead of 4 because the breasts had an up charge of $2.69. I informed him that I ordered according to HIS prior directions. He said Popeyes had changed how they charge and I hadn’t paid the up charge. Mind you, this was the exact same thing he said the last time we were there - and the amount we paid this time was exactly the same - but I guess he was in a less ‘testy’ mood the 1st time we dealt with him.

2. I argued with him about this, and finally said, okay then just charge me the $2.69 difference. He said he couldn’t do that because it would have to have been done when we ordered the food. What?

3. He then asked me if I just wanted the food as it was. I said yes - 6 wings, 2 breasts. He says no - there’s one of each piece of chicken in the box. What?

3. After more argument between us (which now primarily consists of him screaming and cursing at us), he threatens to call the police. Fine. My husband says - why are we going through all this - just give us our money back. Sonny goes over to the cash register, pretends to do something and then announces he can’t reverse the transaction and that we’ll have to come back tomorrow. What? A petty and immature move at best.

At that point Sonny leaves the store saying he’s going out to call the manager, whom he said earlier wasn’t available.

And then Sonny just stayed outside. He never came back in. This is the kind of employee Popeyes has dealing with the public.

Another employee (Lena) came in from her break and not only gave us what we asked for, but also refunded our money. She was absolutely professional and courteous. She displayed the EXACT OPPOSITE behavior that Sonny did. And to top things off, there was a customer behind us that never had his order taken until we resolved the issue with Lena - 20 minutes later?

Sonny’s behavior and the manner in which he attempts to yield his perceived power is unacceptable and needs to be addressed by management. I’m sure we are not the only ones he has behaved this way with.

There are a number of bad reviews on this particular location - many dealing with employee issues.

Popeyes Ordered a meal online and never got my food.. Delivery driver marked order as "Delivered".

Good Day,

I am extremely disappointed in the service provided by Popeyes here in Nashville TN tonight. This branch in particular (the Jefferson Street branch) is known for absolutely terrible service consistently.

My team and I here at UPS buys a team meal that feeds 16-20 individuals once a week. They have requested Popeyes on several occasions and this branch has left us without food before.

Yesterday I placed an order online for delivery, hoping It would select a different Poppeyes location to prepare the food which it did not.

The Branch waited until the delivery driver arrived at the restaurant to have him contact me and tell me that my meal will need to be cancelled because the kitchen did not have any Chicken Tenders.

After a strong debate with the delivery driver on why would this need to be done. I was told to contact support because the branch wanted him to wait an additional 20 minutes and he is unable to wait. When I checked the website for my order, it showed delivered.

We did not receive this food. I got into my car and drove from work all the way to the restaurant because at this time my team is sitting waiting on a meal. I was met at the door by the security guard that told me the restaurant is closed (at 8:45pm).

I told the guard that I need the food on which I paid for and never received – I was told the kitchen had no food and that they are sorry. My meal is still showing up as delivered in the system.

I need a refund to my company card for the amount paid for this food please.

I am a person of color myself.. and I can tell you it is EXTREMELY disappointing to witness a staff with such little care or regard for…. Anything really. That entire branch needs to be shut down.

Service is always horrible and this is now the second time I ordered and did not receive the food.

I am hoping to receive the refund to resolve this situation.

Popeyes Popeye's Chicken, 4236 Buena Vista Rd., Columbus, GA 31907

Sir or Madame:

This was the worse tasting chicken I have ever tasted! I am surprised it did not make me sick. I did not even order this. I ordered 10 spicy tenders, slaw and rice. I was given mild tenders covered in batter so thick that it was still wet in places. Everything tasted old as if it was about to be thrown out. How can you serve people this food? I placed the order online at 5:45 for a 6:45 drive thru pickup thinking an hour would be enough time for them to prepare the food. I even called the restaurant to make sure about the time prior to pick up. But when I arrived the drive thru was crowded. The dining room was empty, so I went inside to the counter and asked if I could pick up the online order at the counter. The cashier said, "Your order is over there." (Pointing toward the drive thru) She left me standing at the count for ten minutes. She continued to wait on incoming customers. No one said a thing, No one said, "You have to go to the drive thru." or "We can't help you here." Finally, someone said, "They are dropping your tenders now." While waiting in the dining room, I hear that same someone say, "The order is supposed to be for spicy tenders." The cook responds, "Well, she is just gonna have to take them." Unbelievable! The chicken was tasteless, dry, overcooked and pasty! The slaw and red beans and rice tasted awful, old. The slaw container was barely half full. Everything had after taste. The sad part is, they didn't even tell me that there was no spicy chicken! They just gave me what they wanted me to have. I am so upset I can't sleep. I paid 25.07 for this meal 08/08/2022. This cook should be fired! I am twice retired and disabled. I eat out quite a bit. I am noticing that people are using the economy as an excuse to take advantage of others. Anything to make a buck. I believe the employees consumed my meal because I ordered it at 5:49 pm and came in at 6:45, then gave me what was to be discarded out of the refrigerator because it sure tasted like it!

Popeyes Popeyes classic chicken sandwhich

Hello I've just reviewed and tried your sandwich at the popeye's here in Los Angeles at: 6421 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90042.

The sandwich I tried was really dry and hard to bite into and almost unedible as it was burnt and incredibly stiff. I was unable to eat the sandwich so I threw it out as the chicken bottom part of the sandwich was all soggy as well as having been burnt.

I've submitted photos of how the sandwich has been burnt may I have another one or at least some compensation?

Desired outcome: A fair compensation. Perhaps a free meal to wash this sandwich down. Ha! Joking. The sandwich was burned too much to consume. It doesnt seem burnt bad but everything was terribly dry.

Popeyes Wrong and missing items

Ordered 5 pc Spicy Tenders, received Mild Tenders

Ordered a regular Homestyle Mac & Cheese, did not get

The Huntley, IL restaurant is 10 miles from my house. When I got home and found the problems with my order, I tried calling and their phone number [protected] is disconnected! Nobody can even call to let them know there is a problem with a order. I drove back to the restaurant to get the mac & cheese which is priced very high for the amount of product received. I drove a total of 40 miles, twice there and twice back to get my order corrected only partially. Yes, I got a regular order of mac & cheese (you should say small because that's what it is, small!) and the employees ignored the fact that I received mild tenders and not spicy.

Desired outcome: Get a working phone at the restaurant so when problems happen, people can call and talk to a manager.

Popeyes service/chicken

we went to store #12865 in Wetumpka, Al @ 4:15 P.M. on 9 August. We first ordered 2 wing meals 1 spicy 1 original and they said we don't have any wings. We then told him we would take the breast meals and he said ok. We paid for our meals and got home without checking our order. We got home all ready to eat took out our meals and there were 2 thigh meals which was not what we asked for plus the chicken was old and looked like it had been cooked all day. We then looked at the receipt and it said thigh meals and that was NOT what we asked for. I am really disappointed with this store because every time I go through the drive through there is always something wrong with my order but, I always give them a second chance but not anymore. I will drive an hour to another Popeye's before I go here again.

Desired outcome: I would like a full meal for two with what we ordered.

Popeyes Customer Service

I was at the Popeye's at 7801 S. Sooner Road in OKC on Thursday August 04 at 3:00. I waited in line for the drive thru for 14 minutes. Sat, waiting to order at the sign for another 7 minutes. I was so upset by then, that I went inside. Stood in line for another 12 minutes and when I was able to finally order the customer service was the worst I have ever seen. The people behind the counter were rude, obnoxious and acted like the customers were bothering them. When I FINALLY received my food, it was cold.

At this time, I probably won't be going back to any Popeye's. I've seen the other complaints and they seem to be the same everywhere.

Desired outcome: Hire people that want to work and not one's that act like I'm an inconvenience to them.

Popeyes orders

I've frequented Popeyes for years like most people. I've had my fair share of problems but never to the number of issues I have today. Fresno, Ca (McKinley/Fresno St.) has the worse service out of all the Popeyes in the city. 1:10 pm Aug. 5, 2022, is the day I went. They had no popcorn shrimp, no ice, no cole slaw and no fish. They wanted to substitute shrimp for butterfly shrimp and charge me full price. They wanted to charge me for sauce if I didn't buy chicken strips in which they had none. They are also charging $1-$2 more for meals that are advertised on tv for less or on special. I will never go there ever again; I am very dissatisfied with the chicken and service and disappointed. My feelings are because it's located in a lower income neighborhood they're gouging and it's unfair to the consumer. My husband and I both purchased a 5pc at $7.99 plus a side and a lemonade with no ice and the lemonade tasted spoiled or rotten. Our meals came to $32.

Desired outcome: I want to be compensated back or a new meal as a replacement

Popeyes Double Charge to Credit Card

Last night we purchased a Coupon Special, 5 pcs of chicken w/ 2 sides for $9.99. I picked this meal up at the drive-thru window and paid by credit card ending in 9149. The receipt proved showed the $9.99 purchase.

Later that evening while checking activity on our credit cards we found the Popeyes, 1505 N. DuPont Hiway, New Castle, DE had charged the meal twice, but apparently on separate receipts and only provide me with on.

I went into Store number 2691, which I do every two weeks, to purchase a 16 piece mixed meal (mild) with 6 extra legs (mild). I was waited on by Jade, she didn't seem to happy to be there and barely said anything. I paid for my order and left the store. I didn't realize until I got home that the entire order was incorrect. Popeyes Today's meal...

Today we ordered lunch at noon at the Popeyes at 720 S. Main St. in Graham, NC 27253. After being told to pull over, we waited for 10 minutes to get our food. The 3 tenders were 50% breading and very little chicken. There were no utensils or napkins in with the order. Hard to eat mashed potatoes without a fork or spoon, and chicken without a napkin is downright ridiculous! Then, upon looking at the receipt I discovered I was charged an extra 30 cents for a coke that was supposed to come with the meal, and I DID NOT ask to be upsized.

Overall, this meal makes me think I won't be returning to Popeyes. I've always loved your food, but it seems like everything has gone downhill.

I'm attaching the receipt for our meal. I feel totally ripped off. If you don't get your act together, you won't be around these parts for long!

Because there was NO line at the drive-up window, while the Bojangles right next door had a line all the way out to the highway sort of makes me think lots of folks are feeling the same way!

Popeyes Popeyes, Erie Pennsylvania

Please do something about the Popeyes franchise located on West 12th Street in Erie, Pennsylvania. I've been going to this store since it opened, and at first the service wasn't bad, but as time has gone on, it has gone downhill, to the point, where I mostly don't even bother to go there anymore. I have spent up to 40 minutes in the drive through. One time I spent 20 minutes in the drive thru and then got moved ahead and had to wait 10 more minutes. The people aren't friendly and 2 out of 5 times the order will be wrong. The dining room isn't open, and I understand that help is hard to find, but in all fairness, there is a fast-food store located almost right across the street from this facility, and without mentioning names, I recently went there and found myself in front of 15 cars ahead of me in the drive thru lane. To my surprise, I was out of there with my food and a smile in 10 minutes.

I love Popeyes chicken, and I tend to be a very patient person, so I tried once again this evening, 7/29/22, 7PM. After waiting in line, admittedly for a normal amount of time, I was told that they were out of bone-in chicken! I left, frustrated.

Desired outcome: I just want to be able to get Popeyes Chicken in Erie. This store is absolutely ridiculous. I would like a response, to indicate that this letter was not in vain.

Popeyes 5 piece 50th anniversary special

After having read the other complaints on this board, I'm surprised that this is the first problem I've had with Popeye's. I ordered a 6.99 5 piece anniversary special in the drive through, along with a couple of other items. When I got home, instead of the 5-piece, for which I was charged $6.99, I received 2 pieces and a biscuit. Called the store immediately - got voice mail. Phone call never returned. Contacted customer support - no response to my online complaint. How does this company still get away with such horrendous customer service (or lack thereof, I should say) after all these years? And yes, the restaurants are still filthy.

Desired outcome: Money refunded - or giftcard for future purchase.

Popeyes Chicken

Got 11-piece chicken at the drive thru in Port Orange, Florida. When I got home and opened the box, the chicken was dried out and burnt in spots, and could not be eaten. They should of have put it into the garbage but did not. I have never seen chicken this bad ever, usually Popeyes Chicken is good. I thing someone was trying to pull a funny. I could not even feed it to my dogs.

Popeyes Condiments Unavailable / Incompetent management

I ate at the Popeyes in Lansing, KS on 25 July 2022. On the entrance door it said "Correct Change Only or Card". After I placed my order, I asked for salt and pepper. They were out. Then I was asked what kind of soft drink I wanted. She informed me the fountain drink station was broke. (I highly doubted that as my intuition was probably right that the crew didn't want to be cleaning it later or it would be directed from higher to serve the drinks themselves to save money.

As I ate my meal, I also heard the crew saying they were out of mayonnaise.

I just observed poor management then was either incompetent or was directed from higher or the Popeyes franchise neglecting its customers products that when ordered could not provide to its customers. Or it will just be blamed on the supply chain delivery trucks. But I then thought that when I eat at the Popeyes on Ft Riley, I have never observed such an outage of condiments that have always been readily available to its customers.

My take away from that observance: I will not eat at that Popeyes ever again, because they do not have condiments available to its customers and a lazy staff.

Popeyes Overall service

7/24/22 5:30pm Clifton Colorado.

I ordered a 16 piece half and half tender family meal in the drive thru. The menu said it came with 3 sides, they only offered two. I asked for fries, and beans&rice. And I ordered popcorn shrimp. When I got it home I had a very small hand full of fries, no beans&rice, the chicken was all mixed up and looked the same and the shrimp was maybe a mouthful. I paid over 45$ for this. It was supposed to feed four people and would barely feed two. Also I specifically asked for a receipt and never got it.

Desired outcome: I would like my beans and rice and third side or a full refund. Don't expect any of this to actually happen

Popeyes Cleanliness

On 7/22/2022 my husband and I pulled into Popeyes chicken in Villa Rica Ga and a young female was outside at the large trash container, the large round plastic trash can was in front of her and she was standing there on her cell phone. You could see part of the trash from the can was on the ground. We parked an went inside to place our order. We waited and we saw the same female come in from the trash, she came right to the cash register and took our order without washing her hands, then she fixed our drinks without washing her hands, she said they would have to cook the shrimp so I said I would wait. I’m thinking she will wash her hands before fixing our food. She did not, I told one of the female workers that she came from the trash and had it washed her hands, she told the female worker to was her hands when coming in from the trash. and she either didn’t hear her or ignored her. Then she got boxes out and opened them with bear hands and still had not washed her hands and the whole time she headed us she was scratching in her head (hair). I called another female over and asked if she was the manager, she said yes. I explained to her what happened, she then told the female to wash her hands after taking out the trash, she then left the front thru a side door, I guess to wash her hands. The manager said she would fix our food.

I think this should be addressed, it made me sick to my stomach, seeing the female at the trash and then come in and scratch her head the whole time. I was just glad we were inside to see this. If we came to the drive thru we would not have saw such a terrible this.

Please have someone to check this out. We could have gotten really sick from such acts of uncleanliness!

Popeyes I am complaining for the staffs and service of popeyes.

To whom it may concern,

I hope you are doing well while reading this email.

I just want to share my experienced when we ate at one of your branch located in Glorietta, Makati yesterday 18th of July 2022.

I was so disappointed with the behavior of your staff. They just don't care if they are sitting 1 inch beside me, and they also do not even care if they already leaned on my bag.

We also need to transfer from our table twice since your staff almost occupied the place.

I just also want to add that the glass with soda had a lipstick mark which is obviously not mine. I hope you check first the utensils before serving it to your customer.

I hope you can do something about this so that other customers will not experience the same thing.
