I used to go out of my way to get my fuel from Petro-Canada due to there points program. A few years ago in 2023, I needed a replacement Petro-Points card. As they give out these cards behind the counter, I went inside to get one. The lady behind the counter told me that Petro-Canada does not issue replacement cards anymore. I found that A bit odd, without the Petro-Points card, I am unable to collect Points at the pump. I ask her about this, and her response was that I had to come inside and pay first in order to collect the points. This is an inconvenience as I own a business and am always in a hurry to get to wherever I need to go. She told me that they may upgrade there pumps in the future to accommodate this. I accepted the answer and moved on. Fast forward a few years later, I heard on the grape vine that I could add points to my account by logging into my account and getting some info off my fuel receipts and adding it to my online account. I attempted to log into my account with no avail. I contacted customer service only to find out that my account had been closed due to inactivity. I know this is a lie as a few times a year, I like to check up on my points by logging into my account to see the latest, and greatest deals, and to remind myself of how many points I have accumulated. 59,422 by the way. How else would I know that if I never logged into my account? After almost an hour on the phone with customer service, the end result was that she could not do anything. I know for a fact that this is not true as Petro-Canada got hacked several years ago, and points were stollen from numerous customers. Petro-Canada was able to give them all there points back and then some. I reluctantly agreed to open a new account only to find out that I could not. Apparently when there system closes an account this way, for security reason, they can not open another account using the same email. So in order to open a new account I have to create a new email? Absolutely absurd. This tells me that they have no control over there security system, this fact should scare anyone who has given there info to Petro-Canada.
Recommendation: I would like my account back with all points re-instated, but as I already know that they refuse to do so, there is no point for me to refuel at Petro-Canada anymore.
