I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the treatment I received during my recent journey with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and to request appropriate reimbursement for the inconvenience, financial loss, and distress caused by multiple delays and the complete absence of passenger assistance.
Under my original itinerary, I was scheduled to travel on Flight PK-309 from Islamabad International Airport (ISB), Islamabad, to Jinnah International Airport (KHI), Karachi, on 1 June 2026, departing at 7:00 p.m. and arriving at 8:55 p.m. Thereafter, I was to board Flight PK-783 from Karachi to Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) on 2 June 2026 at 8:25 a.m., allowing me approximately eight hours in Karachi.
However, I received a delay notification only at approximately 6:00 p.m., merely one hour before my originally scheduled departure. The revised itinerary changed the departure time of Flight PK-309 to 7:45 p.m., yet the aircraft ultimately departed at approximately 8:00 p.m. without any explanation.
As a consequence, my layover in Karachi increased from eight hours to approximately eleven hours. Since I do not have any relatives or close acquaintances in Karachi and had initially planned to remain at the airport, I expected that PIA would provide accommodation considering the prolonged delay. Unfortunately, no hotel accommodation or assistance was offered, forcing me to seek refuge at the residence of a friend of a friend.
The following day, Flight PK-783 was scheduled to depart Karachi at 11:25 a.m. and arrive in Toronto at 5:00 p.m. However, the flight departed at approximately 12:00 noon without any prior notice or explanation. These repeated delays caused me to miss my onward flight to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Upon arriving at Toronto Pearson International Airport at approximately 5:15 p.m., I immediately approached the PIA counter to seek assistance and request overnight accommodation. Regrettably, I remained at the airport until approximately 8:45 p.m., yet no meaningful assistance was provided. I was informed by my travel agent that I should contact Mr. Zaidi, who was identified to me as the Station Manager for departures. Despite repeatedly approaching airport personnel and making several inquiries regarding his whereabouts, I was unable to reach him.
At approximately 6:00 p.m., one of the airport staff members advised me that Mr. Zaidi would arrive by 7:30 p.m. The employee recorded my name, telephone number, and itinerary details and assured me that I would be contacted. Nevertheless, no one reached out to me, and after waiting for several hours, I was ultimately left without any assistance.
As a result, I was compelled to spend the night in Toronto at the residence of a very distant acquaintance, as I did not wish to incur additional hotel expenses. Plus, I had to spend a significant amount of money on Uber for commuting to and from the place where I had to spend the night in Toronto. What should have been a journey of less than twenty-four hours ultimately took nearly three days to complete before I finally reached Halifax.
This experience was extremely frustrating, exhausting, and disappointing. In addition to the considerable inconvenience suffered, I missed important personal commitments and was unable to report to work as scheduled, resulting in a significant financial loss.
I therefore respectfully request reimbursement and appropriate compensation for the losses and hardship caused by these delays and by the failure of PIA personnel to provide even basic passenger assistance. I sincerely hope that this complaint will receive the attention it deserves and that PIA will take the necessary steps to address this matter fairly and provide an appropriate resolution.
