I called NTTA on Oct 24 to get a toll tag for my new vehicle. The person I spoke with was very helpful and told me that I could take the balance that I owed out of my old account and she would start a new account for me. She told me I could keep the credit card on file for any future tolls and that it was standard procedure to take out $40 at a time. She charged my cc for $40 and $5.47 for the balance that I owed, instead of taking it out of the credit balance I had on my old account.

On Oct 31, I realized that NTTA had double charged me in the past and so I called to close my account and just get a TX Tag Account for future tolls. I called NTTA to close my account. They said my balance was $31.15 and that it would be credited back to my cc.

On Nov 3, I called to tell them it had not been credited to my account. She said it would take 30-60 days to close.

I called again on Nov 4, to ask to speak with a supervisor, because 30-60 days is unacceptable. I spoke with Chris. I tried to explain to him but he just kept telling me I was wrong without explanation and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. He said he would put in a dispute for me, but never did.

I called on Nov 22 and spoke with Alex, again asking him to close my account and he said it was pending close and would take 30-60 days to close.

I called again on Nov 27 and spoke with Shontee. She said it would take 60-90 days to receive my credit balance. I asked to speak to a supervisor and Jackeline, was the supervisor I spoke to. I expressed my disappointment in it taking so long to receive my credit. She told me it was just the way it worked.

I feel this system is very wrong in keeping people's money for 90 days so that they can make interest on our money. I won't my balance put back on my credit card with interest, if you are going to keep it this long. Shame on you for such business practices.

Claimed loss: $31.15 plus the old balance that was on my account. NTTA rep did not tell me how much it was.
