Three months ago I decided I should update my 8 month old moto g play 2024. I constantly got the message 'update interrupted. We'll keep trying...' This was to no avail. Now I should mention I only use data, as wifi is notoriously unsecure, and it has the option to use mobile data, so...
I tried going online:0
Tried support and was told I had to use wifi as that's the only option.(?)
Then why the option to use mobile data right on the phone? I've backed up all my data, cleared my phone, reset preferences, all to no avail.
Tried the web one more time and found a post saying Motorola's own 'Software Fix' would do this for me. No need for wifi. So why was I not told this at the beginning? Why am I being told to use an unsecure option when there is a secure option. And why am I being directed to some guy at support that had a baby crying in the backround whenever I was obviously not being heard because I was on hold saying hello 7 times throughout the one conversation. Motorola is NOT the company it used to be. Lenovo is, in my opinion, just milking the Motorola name with cheap, substandard support and cheaper phones that lie (re: can use mobile data for updating) to the operator/consumer. So off to update my phone securely while NOT using an unsecure network three months after I started, with no help from Motorola support. Time for an iPhone I guess.
Recommendation: Run from Motorola! Run!
