I had a frustrating experience at the McDonald’s located at 10229 State Rte 21, Hillsboro, MO. I attempted to use the app to redeem a "Buy One Breakfast Sandwich, Get One for $1" coupon, but I kept receiving an error stating that the store was closed—despite the fact that I was standing in the parking lot and it was clearly open.
When I went inside, I explained the issue to an employee to be unnamed for privacy (per the receipt), who seemed frustrated and had me recreate the error multiple times. After confirming the problem, she initially refused to honor the deal, saying that allowing it would "cheat the system." I found that ironic since the system was clearly malfunctioning and inconveniencing customers. After I insisted on speaking to a manager, she eventually gave me the discount.
Later, when I went up to the counter for a simple iced tea refill, I stood there for five minutes, completely ignored, while the unnamed employee refused to make eye contact. Eventually, another employee helped me.
This location opens at 5 AM, yet at 7 AM, they still hadn’t stocked the dining area with sweet or unsweet tea. The lack of customer service and the dismissive attitude from the staff made this a frustrating visit. I won’t be returning anytime soon.
Recommendation: Report bad customer service so they improve
