I purchased a Defy Washer Dryer on 03 October 2026. On 16 October 2026 I loaded a bundle of washing for an express wash, the machine loaded water and then gave an E4 Error. I have switched off the machine, pulled the plug, tried setting it to spin/drain but the machines stay unresponsive. I have a R3000 Forever New black dress that has been soaking in that water going in 4 days today. I have logged emails, had numerous calls with the call centre, have a message that the repair has been logged but NO TECHNICIAN has scheduled an appointment with me. I don't want this machine and I will hold Makro liable for damages to my clothing!
Claimed loss: R7500 machine costR5000 clothing R300 trailer rental cost to collect the machine on 03 October
Desired outcome: I want a refund for this machine, replacement value for my clothing and transport costs associated with the purchase.

Don't leave that dress soaking another day. Unplug the machine, open the drain filter at the bottom front and bail the water into a bucket, then take the dress out and rinse it in cold water. Photograph everything first, including the E4 error and the dress. Email Makro and the store manager with your invoice, the repair reference, and a written demand: replacement or refund under the Consumer Protection Act, plus compensation for the dress. Give them 7 days, then file with the National Consumer Commission and the Consumer Goods and Services Ombudsman.
