I tried to return a Rheem water heater that was under warranty. My return was declined. I don't return items without a receipt aside from water heaters under warranty. This should not be an issue. The Rheem water heater was under warranty, and a refund is supposed to be a guarantee. I am a contractor and run into Rheem water heaters on occasion that fail under warranty. How am I able to return an item under warranty if I am being denied? This doesn't make any sense. I don't return any items anywhere without a receipt aside from water heaters.
Claimed loss: $595.67
Desired outcome: I want to be allowed to do my job. This includes returning of water heaters purchased from you that are still under warranty.

Should have returned with a receipt. If you lost it, you should have given the receipt to an adult to keep it safe for you.
Wow, fristain, you were not very helpful and pretty rude. You must currently work at home depot with your kind of attitude. Anyways, as a former employee, its at the store’s discretion. Try another home depot. You might have been flagged for whatever reason. They are supposed to give you the amount remaining on the warranty. I would call rheem myself and do the warranty that way. They then can give you a code for the employees to put in. But i would try a different store first.
