General Electric GE trash compactor

Purchased 03/05/2020

Model UCG1680L0SS

Serial AR900018C

The Ram is stuck and the door is stuck open

pretty empty trash.

The L.A.R. service man came April 16, 2022 and couldn't open the panels on top or the bottom of the compactor. He told me to call the GE service center. I was told there are no service in my area (01966). They then told me I could buy another compactor for roughly half price. The original price of the compactor was $1000, yes out of warranty, out of service, out of luck. They then tried to lower the price to slightly under $300 but I would have to wait and see if they approved it. I'm appalled that you sell this to people without backing up with quality and service. I literally threw my $1000 in the trash. I will try to spread the word to the right people so that no one is treated this way.

Desired outcome: I would like my full refund for a product that stopped working. Please respond

I appreciate hearing from you.

It's been a very difficult time for many companies having parts to service their preexisting equipment. G. E. is no different.

Whereas one would be responsible to cover the costs of parts and labor to service the preexisting unit, offer a new one at significant discount seems reasonable.

When was the current one purchased?

General Electric Convection oven. Model jts5000dn1ww. Serial gs157229q

I’m writing to inform you of an issue with my oven purchased 6/13/21 from Home Depot. Within four months on installation the convection fan started making a continuous loud noise.

I requested service, at which time the technician ordered then installed a new convection fan. Oven fan operated fine a couple of months but has again started with the same loud noise.

I’ve requested a 2nd service but I need a replacement oven because it’s warranty will expire 6/13/2022 and I don’t have the expectation that the problem won’t return leaving me to be responsible for future repairs for the same problem.

It seems this scenario warrants a new oven. GE is an excellent produce but this oven has a defect that I have no reason to believe won’t occur again (after warranty expires).

Therefore, I again request a replacement oven.

Please respond to this request as soon as possible.

Thank you for you attention.

Hi Ms Shelton.

Unfortunately the warranty coverage does not compensate for the unit's entire replacement where a single part can be exchanged.

To schedule an appointment with an authorized service technician, call 1800-GE-CARES

General Electric lack of bluetooth connection

I have a new GE profile washer with wifi; (has wifi light); it came without password label on lid.

I contacted customer service and after a lengthy process was told my washer had bluetooth connectivity.

Would not connect with bluetooth on my Android phone; I was told that a fix is in the works and that bluetooth for SmartHQ app would work on Iphone.

I was also told a fix for Android is in the works; at this point I would like to be notified when the fix is complete and if possible how long will a fix take to complete.

Thanks,

Bill

Desired outcome: I would like the Smart HQ android app fixed so I can connect via bluetooth since I was not provided with wifi password.

Hi Bill.

I think I may be of assistance.

This unit does not support Bluetooth. Frankly, it wouldn't make sense for it to as Bluetooth only works in a limited area. It does support SmartHQ which is a feature using WiFi.

To get further help with your unit call 1(800)GECARES.

Spin cycle is ALWAYS out of balance, the solution is the machine repeatedly filling the drum with water and draining? I have to turn off the source water to the machine and make several attempts (2-3 minutes each attempt because of the super slow operation, and the "need" to dump 1/2 a gallon of water on the load "just because" it wants to) to perfectly balance the load to get a spin, often I end up carrying the soaking wet load outside to drip dry on my deck.

Desired outcome: What can you do? I'm stuck with this terrible machine for years to come, i am so frustrated with GE, I Will NEVER buy your products again.

General Electric oven backorder

I ordered a GE Café stove for over a year and still haven't received it. I haven't had a stove for over a year and I can't cook. I had to buy induction hobs and a small counter oven to feed my family... unforeseen and unnecessary expenses. The delivery date is constantly postponed without explanation, without compensation. I am extremely disappointed with GE's service.

SKU: CCHS900S

VSN: CCHS9900P2MS1

Bought at Brick, Kirkland

Desired outcome: I would like to receive my oven and a refund for my induction hobs and counter oven.

Hi Ms. Genereux.

Very sorry to hear of your frustration. I wish I could tell you the end is in sight. Unfortunately, I cannot.

When CoVid hit, many manufactures had to prioritize which items were being produced in larger quantities. CAFE' has been given less priority. You have the choice of hanging in there with your CAFE' selection but be prepared to continue to wait, or switch to something readily in stock.

General Electric My washer

My husband died aug 19,2021. My kids got together and bought me a washer. I had this washer about a month and a half. It broke. It took a bit for the guy to come repair it. It broke again. He came ordered parts, that yall said you later couldn't get. Now you send a new washer the same model. It worked a bit then it broke. Your guy came and fixed it. I broke the same week. In all the time from the first washer till now I may have used my washer about 3 to 4 weeks total between the two washers. Now today your company wants to send me another washer. The same model. Im not sure who thinks it right for my kids to buy a washer to help me feel better after my husband their father has died and it not work. I feel if you wont give them their money back you should give me an upgrade not the same washer. I have a very sick 35 year old son who lives with me and I have to go to the laundromat. So unfair. General Electric GE Range Model - JB645DKWW

General Electric Range JB645DKWW was purchased 10/20/20. A few months after delivery the cooktop cracked in the middle of the night. Without the stove even on. The repair came slowly as Covid delayed the warranty service and the replacement part. A short time later in August the same problem, the same situation stove wasn't on and nothing had been dropped on the cooktop, it just cracked unexplainably. By the time it was "FIXED" the SECOND time, the warranty was already expired and the cooktop had maybe, 4 or 5 months that it wasn't cracked and useful. Within 2 weeks of the 2nd cooktop replacement, it cracked again. Now, General Electric is saying, "It's out of warranty" sorry nothing we can do. This range was junk from day one, I would definitely NOT BUY GENERAL ELECTRIC!

Desired outcome: I'd like a FUNCTIONAL REPLACEMENT, or CREDIT!!

Hi Ms. Chery.

I'm sorry for any frustrations.

It would be rare for any company to replace a cracked cooktop even under the warranty timeframe. Even though you may think otherwise, cooktops do not simply crack on their own.

If I may assist; how was the cooktop sealed to the countertop below it?

You may also check with the retailer you purchased the cooktop through. Many do offer additional service programs which may cover this kind of issue.

General Electric GE Front Load Washer

Purchased a new washer, dryer and pedestals in 5/20. After 3 service calls in the first year, the control board has now gone out. Shame on me for not purchasing the extended warranty. I’ve been told by one service person that I over fill the machine, another said I didn’t fill it enough. Give me a break, we are both over 70 with no others using this machine. I usually do 2 or 3 regular loads per week. This machine has been a lemon since day one, but GE repair people could not find the reason for the excessive vibration and loud noise.

Now I’m stuck with a mismatched set in my new home. I will never purchase another GE product again. I’m now having to purchase a new machine at a much higher price and new pedestal because the GE pedestal is not universal. Even if I was to purchase another GE, I’d still have to purchase a new pedestal. The washer has always vibrated and was excessively loud. I’m now convinced that’s why the panel has gone out. I will not spend another $ on this machine. Repair estimate is $399 plus $175 labor and I’d still have a noisy vibrating machine.

Desired outcome: Please refund cost of replacement for washer, dryer and pedestals

I can sympathize with you, and I will never buy a G E Appliance again.

I am dealing with a similar experience. Bought a G E Top load Washer in November 2020 for $707. Just before the one year warranty, started making a grinding noise when washing. Called the GE, and scheduled repairs. First tech. saw no problem. Still making grinding noise. Second tech. said I need a new motor and pulley. GE sent Freon instead of a motor - another wait. Tech replaced the motor and other part. Within two weeks, same grinding noise. Called GE and was scheduled for Feb. 2. Tech gave no heads up call. Called on the morning of Feb. 2 at 8:00am to tell me that he was in front of my house. I told him we were ill and possible with COVID, and asked to reschedule. Tech came today, again saying he was sitting in front of my house, and hooked up the computer to the machine. This time he said I needed a new transmission and something else to solve the original problem. Seems like trial and error. I asked GE to replace the machine, and was told that they would sell me a new machine at a discounted price. What an insult!

Hi Ms. Green.

Appreciate reading about your experience.

In the most fortunate of circumstances, a repair can be simply replacing a single part. The process more commonly does consist of a little "trial and error." What G.E. sounds like they were trying to do is offer a compromise; not meaning to offend you in any way.

I'm glad that your family has made it through its illness.

If the services aren't completed properly, please let us.

Hi Mr Cano.

Appreciated hearing of your frustration.

What's the exact model for your washer? Yes, it can make a difference.

Just to ease your mind, there is no such thing as a universal pedestal. All pedestals are made for very specific brands and lines. Buying any other brand would have left you in the same position.

G.E. does great in the kitchen. In fact, they're one of the best rated in cooking.

Were you, in any way, under the impression that it came with a longer warranty than was provided?

General Electric ge profile refrigerator model pfe28kyncfs serial tr518003 case # [protected]

We just bought this refrigerator in September 2021. We were away in January came home January 25 and found the refrigerator had stopped working. All the food was lost. Scheduled a repair technician who arrived and thought it was the compressor and there were none available. He called it in for part to be ordered and they told us it would be March 16th before it could be repaired due to part availability. After complaining about the length of time without a refrigerator they sent us $125 check to buy a mini-fridge. Big deal! Eventually after more complaining parts started to arrive without notice. They shipped 2 Compressors and many, many parts over the 2 weeks. They finally scheduled a technician who was supposed to install some of the parts on February 11. Then we received a call from the dispatcher telling us the appointment was cancelled since it was a 3 hour job that would take the Lead Tech and a Second Tech. They finally came out on February 24 and said it was only relay switch, replaced it and left, it never cooled and I called the tech back. He came out and made a 2nd fix, telling me it was coupling issue. he left and it seemed like it was working. We left it get cool until February 25th. We bought food and restocked the fridge. Got up February 26 and found a warm refrigerator. All food in the freezer section had thawed during the night. Unloaded the fridge and found places to store the food, called GE who said they could not schedule a tech until March 7. Had to argue with the Call Center individual, told her I wanted to speak with management who worked with me to schedule a tech for February 28 between 8AM and 5PM. Today, February 28, while waiting for the tech, we received a call GE Customer Service telling us Tech called her and told her he needs 2 more parts which are on back-order to fix the fridge. He never came to the house which just blew my mind. UNACCEPTABLE! Now we were told the case manager will contact us by March 4 and tell us if they can get the parts and when they can reschedule. This is UNACCEPTABLE when you pay close to $3000 for a product.

We are closing in on not having a real refrigerator for 2 months. We need to hear back from ge management about what can be done! My wife and I are beyond frustrated with ge and the customer service we have experienced! It appears you do not care about your customer base. I can be reached at [protected] or [protected]@yahoo.com

Desired outcome: I need to hear back from GE Management on to discuss either replacing or repairing quickly. We cannot live without a operating refrigerator. t this time it looks like MID-March.

General Electric GE stove

As others have noted white plastic knobs with aluminum foil coating for an otherwise fine stove. When I first bought the stove 4 years ago I noticed it and thought it may have happened when they did a self-clean control test as was noted on the underside bubbling and melting appearance. As a result, I ordered new knobs, but never replaced until recently. Today with a tepid water soak 5-10 minutes - 2 knobs are in trouble not sure if they were the replacements I had or not. When I have cleaned my oven, I do remove knobs and

General Electric Cafe dishwasher

I have had over seven appointments with technicians to come fix my GE Cafe dishwasher. The original appointment was for the digital screen but the dishwasher still worked at the time. The technician described an unknown issue that required him to disconnect the dishwasher and order new parts. Ten months later and seven different technician visits have yet to describe the same issue. Every time a technician comes they disagree with the previous technician and order different parts for a dishwasher that worked fine prior to the first visit.

The customer service department has been just as inadequate as they refuse to speak to the technicians to figure out what is going on. Countless hours on the phone always comes back to the solution of sending a new technician to my home to “assess” the situation. There is no communication or follow up with the customer service and the only compensation offered was for me to buy the same dishwasher for $900 even though their technicians potentially are the reason it does not work anymore.

Only suggestion is do no buy GE products and if you do, make sure you buy independent warranties. The amount of time I have spent on the phone and out of work with technicians is ridiculous.

General Electric GE dishwasher

On 9/11/18, I bought, a GE Profile stainless dishwasher product, with serial #SG103177B and model number PDT845SSJOSS at the Lowes Flemington, NJ location.

Unfortunately, your product has not performed well and the machine has been inadequate for the last 3 years.

The first incident with the product was 2/11/19. At that time service had come out and the following was determined to have been the issue – “Fittings were missing causing unit to leak water – damaged homeowners floor.”

Unfortunately due to the leaking water issues, the new floors that had just been laid during our total kitchen renovation buckled. Neither LOWES nor GE wanted to take responsibility for them. Very disappointing. I will add we only purchase GE Profile appliances in our home.

Fast forward to 12/1/21 there is yet another service issue and the dishwasher is again not functioning properly. Service came out and explained this new issue was “Control board not functioning properly.” Tech also said that clearly this dishwasher was definitely defected from the get go. Since COVID delayed getting a serviceman out, we missed having the issue covered by our extended warranty plan.

To resolve the problem, we will need to pay for the machine to be serviced again. LOWES contacted GE for a “Return Authorization” and GE declined.

I would appreciate some type of action to be taken – A total machine replacement at this point would seem to be the most practical resolution.

Attached are copies of my records and repair concerning this purchase.

I look forward to your reply and a resolution to my problem. I will wait until

March 1, 2022 before seeking help from a consumer protection agency or other assistance. Please contact me by email or by phone at [protected]

Desired outcome: NEW MACHINE

Hi Ditsy.

I believe I might be of assistance.

I'd like to address the leaking water issue that you stated happened four years ago. However that doesn't seem to be the focus of your concerns, so I won't.

It is important that everything guaranteed by both the merchant and manufacturer's agreements are fulfilled. However, not enough information is given for that to be confirmed. Please provide any such information showing that service provided under such agreements are not being provided.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

General Electric Washer and dryer front loader with stands

I bought your best washer and drier from lowes. The washer will not spin at max settings and bulky bedding loads. And the drier does not get hot enough to dry the cloths. The repair people came out four times and hooked there meter up and empty it worked fine. After getting tired of this with them I made sure the repairman had pillow of light weight to wash while he was here and he seen it will not spin on max even with just bedding in it on bulky load and max spin. Each time all they said was you will have to try and make sure it is ballanced. That did not work. Tell me why I should watch this washer to make sure it is spinning right when it has a auto balance on it to start with or why should I open it up and arrange the stuff by hand myself. Each time they put down it was repaird when it was not. And they worked on the drier and it still does not get hot enough to dry a load of cloths. Now they want a proof of purchase to come out when I bought the five year warr at purchase. I want this fixed please I bought it in dec 2021 from lowes hardware and they had to order anew drier so drier was in jan. Model gfw850spn1rs serial no as340098n. If need be contact me at [protected] please

Desired outcome: repair it or replase it and if not give me my money back so i can get a washer and drier that works right. GE used to be the best but not any more.

Hi.

Very thankful to read your comments and may be of help.

Any washer and/or dryer have their unique "quirks" and your just learning of a few that the G. E. has. Yes, unfortunately, G. E. does have their problems and no amount of service calls will resolve the problems; they're engineering flaws that will continue to get worse.

You might consider cutting your losses and look at a different brand.

General Electric Refrigerator model GSS25KGPA; ser. no. AF221314

To Whom It May Concern,

I have just received yet another bill for "no services provided". INV. NO. [protected]

Date of Non Service: 11.23.21

After setting up an appointment with GE, they had a repairman call me for specifics. I explained the whole problem to him on the phone.

The repairman then came to my house, however this man made it crystal clear to me when he got there, that he knew what the problem was BEFORE he came to my house and was not repairable. He had the model number, the serial number, and a concise and clear understanding of what my problem was before he came. No water at the dispenser in the door and the ice in the ice maker keeps clumping together.

However, he waited until he got to my home, to tell me that this is a problem with all these particular models and that the only way to fix it was to install a brand new door. However he then advised me that the door is no longer available. If he and GE were fair, he would have advised me before the visit, that nothing could be done about this issue. He was literally in my house between 2 appointments for no more than 5 minutes.

Question. Why did he come to my house, make me take an unpaid day off from work, when he knew that he could do nothing to fix this problem? It was apparently just to collect a service fee which I find is unconscionable and unacceptable.

I find this whole matter well beneath the GE that I always knew, and I will not pay this bill as it is bordering on a scam.

Please be advised, that this whole matter should have easily been avoided if GE simply advised me that this particular model has this inherent issue and that there is NO FIX. Again, GE wasted my day, a day's pay and it cost me major aggravation for no reason whatsoever. I feel it only fair that I am compensated for my lost wages and time rather than billing me $140.39.

I think this practice is despicable and GE should be ashamed of themselves for playing this disgusting game with good customers.

As an aside, please understand, I am a registered architect in NYC and several other states and have been for 40 years. Up until now, I have always specified GE Profile for all my residential and commercial clients.

After reading this email, I must be very concerned about specifying GE products to my clients ever again.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Hi Mr Milkie.

Appreciate reading your concerns and can appreciate your aggravation.

First you should understand that the service technician that visited with you didn't likely work directly for G. E. Appliances (now a subsidiary of Haier) doesn't employ local service people. Instead they sublet these issues to local service centers which they authorize.

Sometimes what you pay for isn't the final solution but needed information. Imagine meeting with a physician and the amount you may pay.

Unfortunately, the unpaid bill isn't ignored. It'll be assigned for collections, adding those additional costs. It can also be sold off and all the while reported as bad debt to harm your credit report. Ultimately you could be required to appear in court and told to pay a much higher amount than you're speaking of now. Leans can be placed upon property and even auctioned.

This all sounds extreme. It is and doesn't happen overnight. But sometimes paying the bill is the smarter solution.

General Electric Dish Washer

So 4 years ago we remodeled the entire kitchen. All new GE appliances in slate so everything would match. And so far fully 1/3 of them have failed. I drop over 10 grand on new appliances and in 4 years have dropped an additional grand or more on repairs.

The latest is the Dish Washer (previously the microwave failed) which service advises is a common problem with our model. And it's either the control panel, the control interface board or the wire harness connecting the two. So do we repair it for $650 (replacing all three items) or replace it? And do we go with another GE product for a grand or more or maybe try to match some other brand to the slate color?

Desired outcome: Reliable, functional appliances one can actually depend on.

I have the same issue. Slate color. Gdt655smj0es. Replaced circuit board after less than two years. Now again need to replace circuit board after three years again. MANY people have this same issue. I’m on hold with GE consumer relations. 5/12/2022. I’m asking for a free circuit board. They can only give me 60% off for part # wd21x24901. I’m going to ask her to record my story. It’s GE’s fault and hey know it.

That's a nice dishwasher. GE makes some quality products for the kitchen. It's unfortunate that you're having a problem with yours.

I might suggest having an electrician check the circuit you're running the dishwasher on. If you're having power related problems in your area, you may want to put either that circuit or the entire home on a power conditioner, making sure the power is more consistent.

General Electric Water softener

I bought a water softener in June 2020. The control panel has gone out three times since then. It says it has a three year warranty but today they told me it only covers 1 replacement in that time. Their product keeps being defective! No customer service whatsoever! I was advised today that I need to purchase a new control panel at almost $400! Supervisor was supposed to call me back and never did.

I have filed a consumer complaint with our AG office.

General Electric Two out of three brand new Winterberry Christmas trees stopped working

One of the trees is completely dead and the second one has lost the white lights - only the multicolored lights still work. All three trees were purchased at the same place and set up at the same time in November 2021.

They were pretty expensive to be of such poor quality and I want my money back for the two that are no longer working. If the last tree stops working correctly, I will want my money back for that one too.

We had two shorter Winterberry trees for several years before they stopped working. It is unacceptable that two out of three brand new trees quit working so quickly. The first one actually stopped working the first week it was put up.

Desired outcome: Refund of my money for at least two trees. I will expect a refund for the last tree if it stops working as well.

General Electric Induction oven S/N RSO33075Q

I am waiting for my Smarter Cookware Promotion cookware. The item was originally purchased from Monark Appliance in Concord, CA on 4/8/2021 and delivery was promised for 6/15/21. When it hadn't arrived by 9/3/2021 I cancelled my order with Monark and found my stove at Friedman's Appliance in Pleasant Hill, CA and purchased it 9/3/2021 S/N RS033075Q. It was delivered two days later.

My second claim for a cash rebate is #U25Y3KJFZX. I purchased a total of four appliances

My email has changed since I submitted the claim so I no longer receive e-mail since 11/13/21 at dimick.[protected]@gmail.com. New e-mail is [protected]@dimicklaw.net. I would have missed any correspondence from that date forward.

Desired outcome: Receiving my cookware and my rebate for the purchase of four appliances

In order to qualify for the money back rebate, ask four appliances were required to be purchased from the same location.

Unfortunately we have no record of a cookware rebate being offered during the month of September. If this is incorrect, please provide copies of your paperwork.

Thank you.
