The Ethan Allen Garden City New York store is very quick to take your order - over $50, 000 was have no follow up on delivery despite repeated attempts, Waited 20 weeks for a sectional and window treatments, No one cared or responded to my e-mails or phone calls,

Ethan Allen - quality

I ordered a table and cabinet which cost more than $5000. The table arrived scratched and had to be repaired by Ethan Allen-- at great inconvenience to me because of having to take time off from work to arrange for the repair. A knob fell off the cabinet a few weeks after delivery because the screw was defective. Rather than have to call the company again and miss work, I tried to replace the screw myself. It was a non-standard size so I had to live with a door that wasn't functional. Finally, after living with this non-functional door for more than a year, I decided I would bite the bullet and have Ethan Allen replace the screw. They told me I would need to pay $10. It was irritated by their pettiness but agreed and gave them my credit card info over the phone. They then said they would fax me a sales order which I needed to sign and return to them--- for a $10 screw! I protested and asked them to just send me the screw and not put me through any more inconvenience. The rep refused. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM EA AGAIN! Their quality is poor and their customer service is worse.

Maybe if you did not go around skipping work for petty problems you would be able to afford the $10 they are charging you. If you are not willing to pay the $10 because you are too busy playing hooky from work to earn the money to afford the $10 then they don't have to give it to you for free.

Ethan Allen - Delivery delay

I ordered a dining room table and 6 upholstered chairs at the end of August. It is now Christmas and I have the table but the chairs won't be ready until after the first of the year. They have been paid 2/3rds of what is owed and I get to serve dinner on card table chairs! If I had know this was going to be my experience I would never have purchased from them...and I certainly won't do so again.

I am writing on behalf of my 84 year old Mother. She was shopping at Ethan Allen for a chair. The salesperson took advantage of her. She told the salesperson about her bad back, and the salesperson said she had the same problems with her back. She told my Mother that ever since she started sleeping on her Ethan Allen mattress the pain has miraculously...

Ethan Allen - couch

I purchased a couch from Ethan Allen about six or seven years ago.I wish I would done my home work.Don't get me wrong it's a nice looking couch and all, but it's not the most comfortable.The couch I had before this one came from a cheaper store and it was better all around.Lesson learned more expensive is not always better.

Ethan Allen - Dining table horror

I recently purchased a Cherry dining table and followed their use guidelines. In July, a white mark on the finish appeared and tried to wipe it off with a damp cloth. The finish started to get worse. I called Ethan Allan and requested a copy of the warranty. 8 weeks later, have not received it. I continued to call, email in order to get it repaired. Finally, after 6 weeks, a tech comes to the house. He photographs it, says, can't fix it and says Katheryn will contact me. I wait 5 days, call her, only to have her tell me, sorry not covered. I request another copy of the warranty, still waiting.

Ethan Allen - Stay away

I purchased a dining table to be used in my newly remodeled kitchen. Furniture took 3 months to be delivered. (toast/cotton) were the color stains of the wood. In addition, 4 cushioned dining chairs were coordinated. After one week of using the table with a cloth and mats, the matte table top finish began to wear down and form shiney spots which looked like grease spots from afar. It gave the appearance of a dirty, greasy table. A repairman came out to "take pictures". Ethan Allen responded by saying that this is normal wear and tear. Hah!. One week later and this is NORMAL. They refuse to do anything else, however, they do recommend that I have a Guardsman re-finish, at my own expense. I will NEVER purchase from them again. In today's economy, I don't think they will be getting too many customers to spend their prices for such crummy quality. Also, my furniture chairs were made in China and the seats have no bottom supports. I'm waiting for the day when the cushions will just fall to the floor. Crummy customer relations at a very HIGH price. Stay away from them!

Ethan Allen - Poor Workmanship and Service

I wished that I had read and paid attention to all the internet complaints about Ethan Allen. I know that sometimes things can go wrong, but it's now clear to me that Ethan Allen has problems with quality control and customer service. I bought a set of hardwood furniture. The finish was badly done, runs and sags in the varnish. One piece had a door that wouldn't close all the way when the weather was humid. One piece had a scratch in the finish across the top that the repairman couldn't fix. Ethan Allen told me that their finishes are all distressed. They finally replaced the scratched panel, but the new panel had a crack. They told me that cracks are not defects, so there! I couldn't believe the excuses they made and the way they go about doing business. It seems to me that with all the complaints Ethan Allen gets, they are having real problems. I used to like Ethan Allen and I've been very happy in the past with my purchases from them. Now I'll have to buy from other companies with better quality control and a serious commitment to customer satisfaction.

Ethan Allen - Cannot be trusted

On Feb 28, 2011, I paid a deposit on a sofa which was to be delivered

by May 15Th...I was told it was on back ordered and I wouldn't have

a ship date until June 15Th which meant I wouldn't have it in my possession

for 10 more days to two weeks after that.

I now find out that Dana Conine, the "designer" measured my rooms wrong

and ordered a sofa too big for the wall it is to go on...my room is 13'4"

she measured it on the schematic sheet as 19'1". She also measured my

dining room at 13'5" and it is 10'10"...She showed me a table that would

"fit" my dining room, 58" round. Now, my new table will be delivered next

week and it is way to big for my dining space. Dana told me and showed me

on "her" diagram that all this furniture would fit...now, I am stuck with

a table that is too big and I STILL don't have a sofa. Never shop with

Ethan Allen and NEVER ask Dana to design your home !

I recently took delivery of EA American Artisan in a black finish. The product is terrible! Uneven spray patterns, obvious touch ups, the dresser top is coming off..drawers are a mess, drips in the paint...I could go on and on and have plenty of photos if anyone would like to see. Ethan Allen - Don't purchase from them

I purchased nearly $8000 worth of furniture from Ethan Allen in January of 2011. The hartwell sofa I ordered arrived with a large stain on the seat cushion. The stain had soaked into the filling. It took customer service two weeks after I complained to send someone to my home just to take a picture of the stain. I told the technician who came that one of the doors on the Jason buffet won't close and he said he would need to come out another time to remove the door and sand it down. I am dissatisfied with Ethan Allen's quality control, workmanship and customer service. I seriously regret buying anything from them. They have caused me so much frustration. I wish I had never stepped into their stores.

Ethan Allen - Failure to deliver

Two years ago I ordered furniture with custom upholstery from EA. I was quoted 8-12 weeks. 6 MONTHS later, I still hadn't received my order. What really bothered me was the lack of follow up or concern on the part of my design consultant. I elevated the situation to the corp office. Corporate blamed the local upholsterer for the delay, even though the local seamstress didn't even have the furniture to do the work. They totally blamed it on this poor woman who had nothing to do with it...

6 Months ago we had a flood, and I had to replace a few of the upholstered items with the promise of 6-10 weeks. 6 months ago! Again, no follow up or concern from them... Hello Ethan Allen - get your act together!

Ethan Allen - Unacceptable service

Ethan Allen... Extraordinary prices... Ordinary product... Unacceptable service... Such a shame!

Custom designed down-filled couch arrived after 16 weeks with deep gash in the arm from careless unpackaging... 2 weeks later removed from home (offered no loaner)... 2 more weeks of sitting on floor... repaired couch AGAIN, again it was delivered in unacceptable condition (no pride in craftsmanship)... custom repair AGAIN performed... will never be truly happy with result... VERY expensive couch - mediocre quality AT BEST... in consolation offered discount on two throw pillows... "in the amount of 20%"...

Ethan Allen - Terrible communication and service

Ethan Allen is not on our list for purchase furniture. Sales person did not listen to my wife, and chose items she liked in our house. Really ***. Also, the quality of sofa/chairs is worse. Sales women wanted this to be fun, when I asked for breakdown on invoice (so I knew what we were paying) she just came me a list of items 2x. List did Not explain breakdown. Just terrible attitude, and communication skills. I hardly believe they would keep her. Pillows on sofa are worn out already. Chair cushions sag, and padding is terrible. Look somewhere else.

Ethan Allen - Poor workmanship

I bought an upholstered chair and the fabric on the back of the chair was coming off, I noticed it about 3 weeks after it was delivered. I had to constantly bug them to get it repaired. I wanted it to be replaced because it looked like shoddy workmanship, but they convinced me they could repair it and they would send their "best man" out to do it. A month later, same issue. They would not replace it, told me the warranty did not cover it. I also had a side table that I cleaned with a reputable wood cleaner and the finish came right off. They didn't want to do anything about that either, but I finally got them to put another top on it. I can't clean it with anything other than a microfiber cloth if I don't want the finish coming off. I told everyone not to buy Ethan Allen furniture - it is ridiculous!

Ethan Allen - Breach of contract-Unacceptable delay!

I had placed an order for a sofa and chairs on May 1st, 2010 and was very clearly told that the delivery would occur in a maximum time period of 12 weeks "most probably sooner".Half of my order(chairs and pillows) were delivered within this time frame, however 18 weeks later I still do not have my Sofa and feel like I have been held hostage as I cannot...

Ethan Allen - Never corrected problem with furniture

Purchased sofa and two reclining chairs at the cost of $6508.92 on 5-8-10 delivered on 7-31-08. one chair makes grinding noise when opening and sofa wrinkles terribly when used. Tried to get store to fix but they claim there is no solution. Extremely difficult to get someone to talk to. I waited 35 years to be able to shop Ethan Allen and feel the quality just is not there. Continue to tell friends and family that the service is terrible. Wuld have done better anywhere else. Just not worth the money and aggrevation we have gotten.

Do not buy a mattress from Ethan Allen or anything for that matter! The customer service is terrible! They do not stand behind their products. I purchased a $2000.00 mattress set and cannot sleep on it, they came out and the tech said he couldn't sleep on it, so I thought they would exchange it out, but no he had me sign a paper that "he was there."
