Received order from customer and went to print shipping label, but eBay displayed an error stating that Address Line 1 has more than 40 characters.
Customer put one version of their street address on Address Line 1 and also added their town and zip code. On Address Line 2 the customer added another version of their street address and added the state.
The town, state and zip do not go the address lines.
eBay tells me to alter the address, but the top of the popup window clearly states I will be held liable if any changes differ significantly from wha the customer intended, which I am not going to do.
Both versions of street do not exist within USPS's online address verification tool so removing the town, state and zip code would not make any difference.
eBay, unlike so many other businesses, fails to license USPS's address verification API when a new account is setup on eBay. That is a basic security measure to insure the address actually exists and is in the correct form carriers require.
eBay could care less about the safety of its users.
Desired outcome: eBay should be fined for failing to utilize a basic security measure after being in business since 1995.
