1 gb tech 1 flash drive
After buying 2 Tech 1 flash drive for $3 each at Dollarama, I tried to load them on 2 different computers. As the package states 1gb capacity at 2-4 mb/sec write speed and 9-12 mb/sec, I expected a reasonable load speed...but after 2 hours++ write time I was of course a little choked! When I tried to read, I was given a corrupt data warning.
I have brought back the 2 drives expecting some recourse, but was told that there is a "no refund/no return policy!
I am partially concerned about the $6+ tax, but more overly concerned about how many other unsuspecting shoppers will get " ripped off "
Must be nice to sell crap, and have no backlash!

defected item
I purchased a laser pen there and it did not work right out of the package. The store wouldn't let me return or exchange it due to their unfair policy. I understand it's only a buck or two, but still, how they operate their business is literally through "stealing" and "collecting" these little changes from everywhere. I wonder how much money they are...

I recently purchased 12 rolls of Dollarama Pro Duramax Packing Tape for $2 Canadian per roll. This stuff is of extremely poor quality and should not be sold and advertised as packing tape.It has extremely poor adhesive quality.I am moving out soon and I packed about 100 boxes with this stuff. After a very short while it peels off on its own.I just hope that the movers do not have any problems moving my boxes because of this.

faulty products
I am a regular shopper at Dollarama, and recently went in and purchase some paper lanterns! Now I understand that some products that you buy from Dollarama a cheaply made and that's why they're only $1.25(or whatever)! But when you buy something and it doesn't work out of the package they should at least let you exchange it! I can't help but wonder how much money this company has made selling people crap that doesn't work! It's not the money that makes me mad, it's that thought! They make LOTS of mone off of they're "no exchange, no refund" policy! I'm affraid it gives me pause as to whether or not saving a few cents off of other products it worth the gamble! I think I'll just buy it from Walmart and know that if there's a problem with the product I'll have NO PROBLEM return it!
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
USB memory stick does not work. Paid $3 and expected it to work because that is the average price for a 1GB USB. Many other items at this stors, though cheap, do their jobs around the household. But if you need a USB, buy it elsewhere.
MOST electonic/battery-operated items items they sell are defective/non-working right out of the package and they don't allow refunds. Beware!
Definitely couldn't live without all the defevtive junk from C h i n a
Dollarama is the biggest scam in Canadian marketplace. They sell junk, don't take it back and make 100's of millions of dollars doing that. They should be ashamed of themselves.
Mine doesn't work either, ...rip off, ...just plastic junk.
3 dollar for a 1gb is the full normal price for a USB and you must expect a good product. This dollarama USB flash drive garbage is not worth more than 50 cents, it should be 2 for one dollar or at most two for $1.25 plus tax. Dollarama became very rich with all kinds of garbage scams that people ignored because it was less than a dollar for a item, but today to be scammed for 3 dollars for a small s hit it is a big deal, and government are crooks too because Dollarama collect tax for them after they, Dollarama scam people.
Don't buy the plastic garden edging. I bought 20 and didn't notice that they broke as the cashier put them in a bag till I got home. I spent $33 + on garbage ! The ones that didn't break when put in the bag, broke when I tried to gently put them in the ground even after softening the soil.
These should be better quality even for a dollar store. They are selling them for the same price as can tire. I only went to dollar store for more variety in colour. Sigh... And all of you that are saying items are only a dollar. Yes well some or those items are only a dollar at other places too. And a dollar is a dollar and when you spend $30 on the items and they are all crap well that's not just a dollar is it?!
I agree you get what you pay for but still they shouldn't break after you pay and before you leave the store.
This is a new complain regarding Dollarama in Hanover Ontario. Nothing to do with the product but here's what happened. I purchased $70. worth of product, for my office and for personal use. I paid and I left. It was fairly busy, but not overwhelming for the cashiers by any means. When I arrived at home, I discovered that a lportion of my purchase was missing. Obviously, I had not received the second bag. So, naturally I called the store to report the lost bag.
The person who answered the phone, said she did not have the bag. She passed me to the manager. The manager was rude and displayed such an attitude that I actually asked her if she thought I was lying. After several minutes of explanation, I could tell she was anxious for me to just hang up and forget about it.
I had to ask HER myself if she would take my number and name in case someone turned the bag in. I thought that she should have suggested this.
I said to her that the cashier may have accidentally given the bag to the next customer. She said that didn't happen although how she knew for certain I am not sure. I asked her if this happened a lot. She said "only once before and the customer found the bag in the trunk of her car." She said it with such vehemence, that I was sure she meant that I had left it in my car as well. I didn't expect a lot from her, but I frankly, she was abrupt and showed no interest in my problem at all.
I own a business of my own. If I treated my customers this way, I would be unemployed. I didn't expect her to give me the $30. of lost items, but she might have at least offered to look under the cash counter. I will never shop at Dollarama again. A blessing in disguise, perhaps. Janice Macdonald
firstly, not all dollarama stores put out bad items or do they know that some items are going to be defective. Dollarama has a recall policy and head office tells them to take the poorly product off the shelves. It is not always the stores issue, Customers come into the dollarama and rip packaging open, open sealed boxes, destroy items simply because it is the dollarama and they feel they have the right to destroy the place. The no return no exchange policy is appropriate for a dollarama. Not all dollarama employees are nasty and mean many are nice and pleasant, it is usually the destruction of their hard work and the ignorance customers give them that turn them sour and eventually quit because of it. So next time you feel like shooting off at the lips about the dollarama think how hard those people work and how terrible they are treated and disrespected by customers. Get over yourself and move on.

Well OP you were stupid enough to by something that reads "Made in China"
selling lighters
I went up to the register and started to pay for my stuff when my 5 year old daughter grabbed a lighter off the counter...
You tell me what is wrong with this picture. I tried to have lunch with my daughter the other day and wanted to take her and eat at Smitty's on the patio. They told me my daughter wans't 18 so I couldn't take her out there to eat. You go to any gas bar or safeway or anywhere that sells cigarettes and they have to sell them behind a closed door so children can't see them. Yet you can walk into dollarama and instead of trying to get your kid not to take any of the candy from the impulse section that just happens to be from the floor up four feet and instead of chocolate bars, , hum what color lighter you want. Everytime I ask them why they sell lighters where any child can grab them and they look at me funny and they never have an answer for me. My friend has three kids all under the age of 5 and she has the same problem with them grabbing at the only ting right beside the cash register and that is...LIGHTERS.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
If IT is listed on the item as a certain price then they get there superviser to over ride Cashiers do not put in the price it's by code that's scanned .sometimes prices get chaged on item and no one has been notified or some one has not gotten around to putting the new stickers on
I have a problem with dollarama they ripped me off by $10. They i purchase several items listed on the box as $1.25 but charged me for everything as $1.50. Those dumb clerk said it's not her fault and called her supervisor and the supervisor told me it's "my" fault. I didn't even leave the store yet and had turned around to let them know. They didn't apologize, they were rude, racist and unethical. They're out to steal your money. Don't you see, if they keep stealing .25cents here and another from there, it all adds up. And before you know it they're stealing thousands of dollars from innocent and hard working people. They have yet lost another customer as of today. I hope the worst karma upon the racist ###s who treat other people like ### and take total advantage of them.
Instead of complaining about something that the average person would have no problem with, you should try keeping your children under control and teaching them some manners about not grabbing.
I hear ya just was badly ripped off in domo in falconridge by a chic working there named emily, me first time my wife next two, It seems the need for proper work ethics is going out the window and most they hire let the power go to their heads .
Lighten up on the parent. Kids grab things. End of story. Its hard to watch three kids and keep them occupied, while reaching for your exact change, or typing your pin into the debit machine. Its true, the only thing at dollarama checkstand to grab at is their colorful lights. Most have safeties on them.
And ya cigarettes are kept behind the gas station glass cases because people are thieves, and its an easy item to pocket. Altho I have been asked on more than too many instances, when purchasing a lighter from 7eleven and domo to provide ID for just purchasing a LIGHTER. Wtf is that about? I'm well over 18, and i am sure as hell not about to go and smoke the lighter. And hell, even if I wanted to, i suppose I could, considering I have a valid ID and all.
Big deal, a dollar store selling cigarette lighters, how awful!
Any gas station or convenience store has them in the same place are you complaining to them too? You should be worried about about your kids stealing not what there stealing and you should be watching your kids. The reason lighters and other stuff like that is there so teens or kids cant steal it from the aisles. Because i know kids in my 8th grade class that buy and sell fireworks at school if they were in the aisles they would just steal them instead they do what i do and get a parent to buy them for them.
um its your damn kids, your resposible to keep an eye on them. Do you think the employees like having your kids playing with everything they can reach. Have some respect.
I agree with you. I have a daughter and I taught her from a baby that she is never is to touch a lighter and she won't. If you teach your child that they are by no means allowed to touch something then they shouldn't. I have never once had a problem with my child grabbing random things. She knows she is not allowed to do that and that it is not ok to just grab things that aren't her. Teach your children to respect things that aren't theirs and tell them lighters can burn and set them on fire. If you teach them properly they won't grab them. I also have a lot of friends with children and their children won't go and just grab things that aren't theirs.
no bathrooms
Every store that does not offer bathrooms to their customers should not be allowed to operate. If someone needs a bathroom, it is never a matter "oh yippee, I've been waiting to use the bathroom at Dollarama". It's a matter of health and necessity, depending on the person's system - this can cause extreme discomfort. I refuse to shop Dollaramas until they offer healthy options of restrooms for their customers.
Wow some very intelligent comments and others? What does minimum wage have to do with anything? But I won't even address you as your comment is too juvenile.
Let me clarify some things, I have a bladder problem- can't hold, there were no stores next door - new strip mall, Dollerama was the only store open, I could had to drive to Wal-Mart who has bathrooms and still had an embarrassing accident to which I should consider even suing. But that's besides the point. Imagine yourself stuck either with a child or yourself that can't hold and having someone being rude to you. Frankly it was very unpleasant and though I'm really tempted with some of you - I don't wish it to happen to anyone on this list or anywhere. But this is the old problem of because it doesn't touch me in any negative way I have to ridicule the complaint, make fun of it or just be ignorant. Yes people for the most part are not clean- fact of life, I work in a corporation and the bathrooms are not any better as far as cleanliness. But to deny someone a necessary hygiene act because you don't want dirty bathrooms or out of sheer insensitivity is uncalled for and not good business. I now drive further and go to the other Dollarama that does allow customers to use their restrooms.
First of all use spellcheck, second of all some people have scheduled that are obviously much busier than yours I'm sure, I'm a single Mom with 2 jobs. IF there's no law there should be one. This is a complaint and I'm entitled to have it and by the looks of your response could really care less what you think.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I was Dollarama looking around staying there at some things that to long they were asking me still there
I through they made mistake my receipts tonight
I have tried phoning and leaving messages over and over . This bar has a piece of plastic in it and it lodged in my mouth, and make me choke . I spit it into a bag with the butter I took it in and the other piece of the bar. Someone needs to contact me before someone chokes on it .

If you're going here, good luck finding a parking space. The older cashier with grey hair is extremely rude but no where near as rude as the manager who blatantly harass, abuse and steals from their customers. They sell broken, and faulty products that don't do what they say they will do.
My husband bit into a snickers bar that I purchased at your Angus location yesterday and bit into a pin. I have notified location and police! Police are on their way to my home now.
Angus Ontario not USA
I had dropped some money "$50" and one of the employees had seen who had taken it and refused to do anything about it and asked for the camera's to be checked and why they thought it was funny and trying to make me seem like a liar and just got treated poorly and i'm Emotional hurt by this, I didn't deserve to be treated the way I did.
They are terrible .
They are from China but no mention of that on the tin .
Your merchandise is fine but no way will I buy food products, other than name brand chocolate bars, from you .
Low prices doesn't have to equate to deceptive marketing practices .

Without going into a tirade with this Mac pr1c4, not all stores have bathrooms for customers. It's unfortunate but true.
Remember that if you have a condition, the condition is not written on a big board hovering over your head. You have to ask politely to use the bathroom. If that doesn't work you then can FYI them of your condition -- subtly! Causing a scene does not get your needs across and only further damages the other disabled people who need the kindness, understanding and tactfullness of others when faced with a bathroom emergency.
And developing acting skills really works wonders. I'm glad I practiced looking desperate. It comes in handy even when you just have to pee.
Reading these comments is literally the best thing ever. My stomach is hurting from laughing at this MAC guy. 😭😭😭😭😭🤣🤣🤣

Without complaints, they can continue to sell the product.
The problem with these is that they are horribly slow. It takes 30 seconds to write the smallest file. A 1.4Mb file (the size of a floppy disk) takes 2:27 (yes, 147 seconds!). It is actually slower than a floppy disk because I'm sure a disk would write in less than a minute. I don't have the patience to test and see if the capacity is really 1Gb, because to write that much data would take 27 hours. The write speed appears to be around 80kb/s (10 kilobytes per second) which is barely faster than a dial up modem at 56kb/s. I'm pretty sure Dollarama were taken for suckers here, but they clearly didn't do any testing at all.
In English: Dollarama refused to take back or refund any of the 20 drives we bought (10 unopened). Out of the 10 we tested, we had 100% failure, if not immediate, after a few hours of usage. Dollarama seem to know the problem and refuse to acknowledge it.
We lost irreplaceable data and hours of work on the 3 first USB stick we used, unfortunately they are the exception that did not fail right away...
As a corporation, it seems that Dollarama did not act in good faith, did not remove the product from the market immediately. The real cost in our case was not the USB key cost but the data and the hours of work lost... The store manager laughs at us when we suggested to remove the USB drive from sales and to return them to their supplier ...
What would happen if it was not a USB key failure? What If it was a dangerous toy for kids or a contaminated food? Would Dollarama have the ability to respond fast and efficiently to such problem, would they have the procedures and the culture to empower their manager to quickly and safely control such situation?

Dropped by Dollarama today and noticed all the drives were gone from the shelf. Looks like they removed them as there were 3 racks empty, but everything else was full around it. Hopefully they weren't purchased.
Same here. POS is slow and does not work. I do not know why Dollarama sells such junk.
Total waste of money. Purchased 11 to distribute some files on, only 1 of 11 worked. Returned them and learned of Dollarama's no return/no exchange policy. Asked for them to replace them, they wouldn't budge. Poor kid behind the counter sort of admitted these weren't the first ones. Counted 45 drives still left on the shelf, easy way to get rid of defective junk, package it, sell it cheap and don't return it.
I am unfortunately experiencing the same problem. It seemed to work to get files on it but will not work to open the files I stored there. I am really disappointed. I believe that if you are going to sell something it should work as promoted. My bad for expecting any kind of service from this company.
Same thing here. I am now the owner of a piece of junk. Tried to reformat it to fix it, but cannot - returns failure.
I bought 3 of these useless plastic sticks that don't work in any computer or device, ...have been totally ripped off.
I fell for this, but fortunately only bought one. I did talk them into an exchange, but the second one was no better. Any more than a handul of files failed to load without corruption. They corrupted each time the stick was removed and replaced. Whole folders with all their contents vanished! Properties showed a big chunk of memory used even when nothing was left. The sticks, in other words, were complete and total, useless junk. I would only recommend them to people I hated and wanted to see lose their data! I immediately composed a graphic warning people not to buy Dollarama USB drives and posted it everywhere on Facebook I could, then wrote to Dollarama's complaint page. If anyone can tell me where the CEO lives, I'll go there and let the air out of his tires! It may only be $3, but sell a million of them and that's $3 millions worth of fraud!
