Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Dollar Tree handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Dollar Tree and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Dollar Tree The cleanliness/neatness of the store

I am a retail merchandiser for a company and I service the Dollar Tree listed above. This Dollar Tree is in horrible shape, as the floors are dirty and the aisles are cluttered with boxes and products. The bathroom (there is only one in operation) stinks and is also incredibly filthy. Most of the time I'm in there, there is no toilet paper, no soap (seriously, in this age of Covid-19!) in the dispenser and I truly don't think the floors are ever swept, let alone washed.
On a lesser note, there is no music in the store, as I was told the sound system is broken. Dollar Tree's make plenty of money (I've read the website), so I know lack of money is NOT the problem. I've attached some photos below of the store in question.

Desired outcome: Mainly, a constant supply of hand soap and toilet paper in the store would be nice. And maybe have the store cleaned at least twice a month.

Dollar Tree Service; Complaint against Store Manager for that time period and date

Store# 5931 500 Slappey Blvd Albany Ga [protected] ;8449 05931 04 027 [protected]- Register assigned to Emily -3/14/21 ;12:57 pm. Prior to my turn left to check out the previous customer transaction was completed, but he hadn't left the counter. I placed a bottle of energy drink on the conveyor belt, and she asked him if it was his. I said no! She asked me if it was mind I say yes! Then she said I had an attitude. I said only said no and yes. Then she began to berate me saying I was talking to him. Again I said I only said no and yes. She said this is my store to carry my item to another register because she wasn't going to check me out. Prior to this she was talking to an elder black male employee in a hostile manner about writing a co-worker up. He stepped in and said he will check me out. I am a 65yrs old black male and should be treated with respect and not berated by a child just because she decides who has an attitude at the same time not greeting me as a customer.

Desired outcome: She should be retrained in customer service. And directed on company policy on when to refuse services,

Dollar Tree Manager Howard, behaviour rude

Go to the Dollar store in Milford Delaware quite often, the manager Howard in this store is so rude. First, how would allow the one cashier's line to back up into the aisle and not provide opening up his cash register to help out. Today, he watched me stand in line waiting for someone to help me, and he came up to open his register walking past me to say he was going to open up and took the lady that was behind me first. Of course I addressed it with me, but his attitude is so bad, I will just not shop at this dollar tree anymore.

Desired outcome: None, just will not shop there anymore

Dollar Tree Employee

Employee named Ty at DT near Walmart in boone rolled her eyes and said an expletive when I said I had an exemption from wearing a mask when in the store. I confronted her about her attitude and she promptly made a call to the Boone PD saying I refused to leave "her" store. I asked for the number of the person above her and she flat out refused.

Dollar Tree The manager

The manager on Braun rd San Antonio to was being extra rude about the mask being on when in fact the government stated that the mask are not enforced and it is not mandatory to those that don't want to wear a mask. I stated that the mask is no longer enforced and she gave me a smirky rude answer back and handed me a mask, but what's funny is if she was so worried about spreading the COVID 19 then why did she hand me the mask bare hand without me grabbing the mask out of the plastic myself. That itself can spread COVID 19 to me. So what's even the point of enforcing the mask when you have your employees touching everything and handing off everything to customer as well a crowded dollar tree and everyone is side by side and not enforcing the 6ft apart. The manager gives really bad attitude to the to me as a paying customer, I understand there's rules enforced and I did put on the mask however she was being really rude about it and her smirky comments were rude too. You need to teach your manager and give them a lesson on customer service. I don't know how it is at home but she needs to learn to not take that to work.

Desired outcome: Needs better customer service

Dollar Tree White male cashier

I'm filing a complaint against a white male cashier who refused to take me at the cash register telling me he was closed and then took all the customers after me. I asked him why he said he was closed when he was clearly opened, and he said he felt like accepting the other customers. Him and the other cashier are both white. I'm not white.

Desired outcome: Tell him not to discriminate. He might be a racist.

Dollar Tree Sales associate with a threatening, bad & racist attitude

On 3/3/2021 I dashed into the store, completely not realizing I didn't have my mask on. I grabbed my things and stood in line. When it was almost my turn, the sales associate rudely said, "I'm not ringing you up. No mask." I explained I forgot, did she have a mask, I d gladly put it on. Again, she rudely said no with an attitude. I turned to the woman behind me and said I'll be right back. The guy ahead of me was still dealing with his transaction and still wasn't done by the time I returned. The cashier told the woman behind me she could go ahead of me. When it was my turn she stared me down, locking eyes with me, really making me feel uncomfortable. That lasted for at least 30 seconds. It made feel threatened by her so much so I will not shop there fearful she would do something to me. It felt racist being that I'm Caucasian. Does she deal with all customers like this?

Desired outcome: She needs customer service training, racist training. Also, the receipt says her name is “Joshua” when she was a Latina female

Dollar Tree Dirty inside.

On Feb. 20, 2021, I stopped in at the Dollar Tree, Store # 2096, located at 574 South Avenue, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278 and was shocked at how dirty is is inside. This was my first time to shop at this store and it was the nastiest store I have ever been in. The shelves were a mess and the carpeting looks as though it has not be vacuumed for a long, long time. Is is loaded with scraps of ripped up paper and tons and tons of smaller scrap pieces all over the floor. My daughter and I ended up leaving, because it was so disgusting that we felt uncomfortable buying any of their food items. I have shopped at many other Dollar Tree stores and they have always been really neat and orderly.

Thank you. I hope you seriously look into this matter.

Desired outcome: Inspect the store and make them clean it up.

Dollar Tree Rude employees

I drive an hour to this store to get a certain product. I come so often and buy this item in cases that an employee there who said she did the ordering told me just 4 days ago that she would order me cases of this product and would hold it for me. Today, I asked an employee stocking if any more of this product was in the back, she said I can not check for you anymore. I said the other lady said she would order this product for me. I even said the ladies name. She ignores me and walks away. I proceed to checkout and I asked the cashier when would this lady be at work because she told me she would order a product for me and told me she would keep it in the back for me. The cashier said she is off the next couple of days. I can not help you. Is customer service so bad you can not take a minute out of your time to look for a product that was ordered for a customer? I work in retail myself and if I ever acted the way these ladies did to me today I would be fired on the spot. I'm so aggravated with this issue. I even drove another 20 miles out of my way to go to another dollar tree branch in search of this product with no luck.

Desired outcome: Respect as a paying customer trying to purchase a certain product at your store.

Dollar Tree cashier was rude

Went to store #28 which is in Richmond, Ky . The cashier was so rude that I have decided not to shop there again. The lines are always long however that understandable but the rude cashier isn't. Today my total was $87.00 which I should have just left, she never told me a total, never looked up while scanning items then when she was done stood there as if I was a inconvenience to her. Sorry she had to work today, but it is a job. But the manager there isn't any better so shouldn't expect any different.

Desired outcome: need to train the employees that we are human and need respect.

Dollar Tree Condition of store and customer service

Visited the dollar tree store on daniel stuart square 22191 on monday, february 22, 2021 at approximatley 3:15 pm. The store was very messy. There was one shopping cart available. However, i saw a few other empty carts located in the aisles, blocking the path. As if someone left them, but no employee could be bothered to put them back. The young lady operating the cash register was not friendly at all. The lady in front of me checking out bought some glass items. The young lady just put them in the bag without wrapping them to insure they would not break. The lady had to ask for paper and wrap them herself. The cashier then proceeded to throw the lady's receipt away. She had to ask her at least three times to get the receipt out of the trash. Very, very poor customer service.

Desired outcome: EMPLOYEE TRAINING

Dollar Tree The manager

I was shopping in a dollar tree on 89th and Penn ave so Bloomington Minnesota without a mask on and the manager lady harassed me the whole time I was there following me around threatening me calling the cops on me. I have a medical condition that I am exempt from wearing a mask. I asked her if she was a certified Dr. She ignored me yelling at me to get on a mask or she will call police. This is harassment. Plain and simple. While she was yelling at me to put on a mask or get out of the store I saw a person stealing items from your store. If she had not focused on me and on the thief maybe she would have caught the guy. Anyways this guidance is not law and I would love to get one of these fines take them to common law court and sort this out. But your manager needs some more training. I hope u talk to her about not harassing myself because I shop there a lot and this is first time she gave me grief. My father is a lawyer and wants me to file harassment charges.

Desired outcome: Train ur managers or fire her

Dollar Tree Store employees

I just visited the Dollar Tree store in Campbellville, KY. Of the three employees that I saw in the store. One had a mask on, but under her nose. The other two did not have a mask on. The one was at the checkout counter, when I asked, "do you not have a mask". She replied, "NO I DO NOT". I told her that I was not happy about the fact that she was not wearing a mask, and neither was the other employees. I explained to her that I had just recently in the last two weeks had two family members die from Covid, her reply, "Oh, Well!". I will not be visiting that store again until this virus is under control. Also, she did not wrap any of the four coffee mugs I had just bought, and placed them all in the same bag together. I am so disappointed! Generally, I only go out early in the morning, my husband needed some things, and asked me to go in.

Desired outcome: That store needs to follow precautions.

Dollar Tree Store number 2294 sales associate tandon [protected])

I was in line paying for my products and ask you clerk/store manager to double my bag because the water was heavy and had busted the bag before, he caught an attitude right away, his whole demeanor changed he started saying that he only doing what he was told which was ok but I still insisted that he double my bags of water, he got even more furious with and went over to the next counter and talk to a clerk coming back to me saying each bag will hold up to 8 pounds, I still did not want to double my bag, I come into this location at least 4 to 6 times out of a week and have never had this problem, look like he was high, but I don't know for sure, a simple thing such as doubling a bag should not have escalated in the way that it did, I am a veteran of the armed forces and I try to treat everyone with respect. I could not believe that this happened over a little thing such as a bag.

Desired outcome: An apology for the way that I was treated as a customer.

Dollar Tree A certain young man with dark hair and his attitude and language

My wife and I are faithful customers to your store 7069 on business 60, in dexter, mo and have been since opening day, this time a certain employee a male with dark hair was being extremely rude and loud and being aggressive towards a young employee there, using foul language and being aggressive like he was looking for a fight. He was told several times to calm down and he just got worse. Then me being a loyal customer, couldn't believe what I was hearing, said something to him about how corporate would feel a certain way and probably not tolerate this kind of behavior, his immature and aggressive actions in front of several customers, so he said "yea whatever, I know corporate too, so what are you going to do?" I took that as a threat, while another employee was on the phone with management. I feel as if this guy has no business in customer service and should be dealt with accordingly. I understand people can have bad days, but this guy crossed the line. Maybe someone ought to review the footage from security feed and take action. Id hate to see something escalate from this bad attitude employee., I wish I caught his name, but it wasn't our cashier, she was sweet and apologized for what we had to endure during our shopping trip. Thank you for your time and to be honest, if this doesn't get resolved, our shopping trips will be no more, i'm sorry this had to be brought up, but it was a very unprofessional, and a very unpleasant experience. I have included the receipt so you can access the time and date stamp from the incident, this all happened about 5-10 minutes before we checked out. Thank you for your time and consideration. My email is [protected]@gmail.com i'll be looking for feedback, thank you.

Desired outcome: I'm sure action should be taken so this does not happen again.

Dollar Tree Rude manager

I have been shopping dollar tree for many years and go everyday. I began shopping at the one on South Main Street in Downtown Wilkes-Barre, PA. I do like to use coupons on some items if I have them. I know your store policy on coupons and have always followed it. The manager began to get nasty to me and told me I can only use one coupon per day! I know it says I am allowed to use four of the same coupon per day. I am now only allowed to use one single coupon per day. Not only that but she yells and treats me like a dog. She is RUDE! She is nasty to customers and employees.

Desired outcome: Please clarify coupon policy and talk to manager on how to treat customers!

Dollar Tree Cashier was condescending

Feb 13, 2020 around 5:00pm. I shopped at Dollar Tree today and a cashier (middle aged :45+, orange/red hair, glasses, thin) greeted me. Everything was fine until I went to pay. Total was 8.28 and I wanted to pay 20.50. That $20 bill would have covered it but I was trying to get less change back. I would have gotten 12.22 back had she a accepted my change (during this change shortage I thought it would be appreciated). She took my change and stood there with it, stood confused and then started passive aggressive arguing with me about it while I stood quietly listening to her. She passive aggressive argued with me using words and a tone obviously trying to make me feel stupid. After her tangent, I told her 'not to worry about it, I just wanted less change back' and handed her just the $20 bill. I was and am deeply offended and feel really judged. I paid with coin rolls before no problem until today at about 5pm. There shouldn't have been an issue and all cash registers should have a weight on their station to 'weigh' the coins and trained as such situations will arise. Please teach all employees about respect. I felt very insignificant and devalued and stupid or at least they tried to make me look/feel. It was not an issue until it was made a big deal by the cashier holding up the line that formed (I saw the line forming and that's when I told her to not worry about it).

Desired outcome: Teach all employees that WORDS MATTER and to treat everyone with graciousness. You don't know what's going on in their life. Apology.
