My wife and I went to dollar general on january 27th 2024 my wife picked up a bottle of ranch dressing to dip her chicken in we just got from the chicken place well we went home and we were eating well she kept saying it didnt taste right well we figured it was because we didnt eat nothing of day but if it wasnt the chicken because a both me and her son would of got sick well I went to put everything away and I noticed the expiration date was for june 2023 I called store and they told me bring it back so we did the next day january 28th 2024 well I was talking to employee went and looked at the other salad dressings well long and behold they were all expired I emailed cooparte office I got a call from some guy I believe it was january 31st 2024 well he tells me we are responsible adults we should be looking at dates no thats what your employees are supose to do but the say short staff is a problem thats all they said at store everytime we go in there the employees are on there phones or talking away to there friends this store is a mess inside and out there lights on sign are out my wife went to doctors on monday and had food poision well between paying the and pharmacy she lost 3 days of work

Treated unfairly, worked as keyholder but paid as associate, asked for help from dm/hr for fear of my employeement and was terminated a week later
From store #15665, I would like to begin saying thank you for the opportunity, was unexpectedly brief but I learned alot so I do thank you. I was first hired as lead sales associate in hopes to get close to the $12 I had just left from. I lived right next door with a 3 to 5 minute walk. Started out great as most jobs do, and I was quickly to what I understood as a promotion as a keyholder. Was told multiple time to not take negative tones from other co-workers for I held the same position as they did. I was given a key to front, back, side doors and the office key was to still be given but the store manager had to make copies. I worked hard and heck I was teaching the assistant store manager things. Who had never even ran a register before and wasnt qualified, she was the store managers best friend from waitressing bob evans. As time went on I started noticing some very serious yet damaging behaivior go on. Mt time and manager mels I know for sure, time clocks were being edited even though we would work straight through. I remember and evening mel crying to me about how awful she was talk to even tho she works without breaks but st. Manager amber I guess was only one that really mattered. An always make sure you walk away feeling lessened, and worst thing ou can do to your crew/employees is to make them not want to come to work.
As each new rule that was made, I questioned management cause the rules that were made, they were the ones breaking them and doing wrong. So I request to speak with hr and someone hire up that I had serious concerns after several months after I began to be a bit uncomfortable due to the store manager showing affection to a black male that wasnt her husband. She called them special friends in order to keep her marriage working. One day I she told me that she wish that her special friend hadnt showed due to her being on her menstrile cycle and she couldn't have sex. There were a few and I felt so offended, my husband is a black male and the fact she puts prey on a black male is beyond wrong and to bring that to work is worse. This was beyond unprofessional! more illeagle things began to obmerge. At one point I had learned that narcotics were even entering the store for the managers and traded for goods, im sure creating a hyke in theift. I remember even going to my store manager about 2 ladies walked out with full buggies as they acted as if the were a self check out customer. Also I was working as keyholder with 30 to 40 hours until I began to speak up. When I started speaking up my hours started droping so I was then needing paystubs for my hours were so low I had to get stubs for state assistance for bills and food was getting scarce. Hours as low as 4 hours a week. I never was talked to or warned about any drop in hours or anything. So I helped myself and pulled up our employee dg me, found my stubs, and printed them. My mouth dropped in disappointment. This entire time I had been working the keyholder position with not even the first raise. I was lied to and manipulated from the start. I was wrote up twice one for being short on a register that had been used from 8am to 10pm. And the other was cause someone else left at 1015 while another key holder had safe opening. I stated we was told not to and the girl replied oh the store manager said yea I could, somehoe they wrote me up. When I was given the write up I was warned in a belittling way that I better watch out that I had 2 write ups one more and I was outta there. So I ask and ask to speak with someone that all the unprofessionalism and the amount of things going on needed to be addressed. And when they made a very young girl whom had just took a hundred dollar bill manage really made me question their opinion on work ethic as well. I was made feel like [censored] by every manager that was there all cause I wanted it known how hard I worked and how much they were taking from me, my dignity, my pride and motivation. I got told I was a thief and manager melany screamed so loudly from outside that I do nothing but steal that they caught me on film, when I finally got my meeting the dm brought it up as if thats why she was there. I felt so bullied and so foolish. Questioned on why I send the products home that they was unpaid, I replied to keep watching the tape that toya rang me up. And situation was understood and moved on to me saying how I felt and had been wrongfully treated. Slander yelled to the customer about, talked about from managers to employees, how I was manipulated and lied to about my position, bullied, used, and much more. I tried to remember everything as I am now and week goes by and my only work day on wednesday a 630 to 1030 I clocked in and was met by angela dis. Manager that I talked to get help from previous week. She was there to get back with me and told that yes I paid for my belongings, the reason for calling me a theif previous week but because I gave my belongings to my daughter to take home to my daughter and had a tobaco product in it that I contributed to a minor. I was absolutely disappointed how just like they say when you ask for help or speak up they will fire you or worse and I see why! I was told I coukdnt be manager along the way cause I wasnt priveledged to have a vehicle. And only can promote to manager unless I had a vehicle, feels like discrimination. I wasnt gonna write in fears I will get more of a punishment for speaking up. I will post and post and write news after news to show how wrong the dollar general #15665 has done me. I was attacked and backed into a corner. They used ther position to benifit themselves.

Product and the service received by the manager.
1st thing, is is it OK to have your granddaughter present while your cashing out customers. Not give full attention to the customer being helped.
2nd, never addressing a complaining customer, with any type of greeting, yet greeted outs whom walked in, because we were returning, juices which that have expired by 3-4months and this is the actually manager. I'm constantly concerned of why nobody who applies for work is ever hired. If the manager is working with granddaughter in tote... I've applied for thr hiring position within the last 2months on indeed, as well as my nephew just recently. In visiting to the store I pointed out how this Mgr never addresses me in a friendly manner. My nephew asked why she does like me.. I couldn't give an answer. Thos person whom. is the manager at Dollar General in Haxtun Co. Should not be working in this non customer friendly way. Which isn't how I'd see here job. I returned bad juice, she never asked if I'd like new juice, or if she could do anything. As I stood there she basically expressed the money would go on my card.. probably the only words she spoke to me. I was astonished, how little care she took in me returning this expired juices which I think I bought just a week earlier.. so I just ask this situation be addressed, to why they are always short staffed and nobody close ever get a job they may need.

I went to purchase a box of Crispy Rice cereal at Birmingham Ohio Dollar General. The price on the rack said " crispy rice cereal $2.45. When I got to the check out counter, The price came up as $2.95. I told the cashier it said $2.45 on the rack, and he said he could not change it. Again, I told him the price was $2.45 on the rack, and he refused to change it to the price on the rack, I told him this is a bunch of bull crap, and told him I didn't want the cereal (at that price). So I didn't get it. This price change (always UP) has happened to me several times at this location, usually, if it is small, I let it go, because I do not want to fight over a quarter or so, but this is getting rediculus. I am totally dissatisfied That they would not make the price what it was said to be on the rack, and that I have to either eat the loss, bring it up to the cashier, or go somewhere else.

I had to walk to Dollar General located on Commerce Street in Summerville Ga yesterday. It was approximately 5:30 pm. I was doing my shopping when it hit me that I had to use the bathroom. My husband asked where the restroom was and was told that it was out of order. I honestly do not believe that but anyway, I had to poop badly. With nowhere to go and I couldn't make it back home to go, so I pooped on myself. I have never, and I mean never been so humiliated in all my life, and I am over 50. I know that employees do not like cleaning bathrooms, but I truly believe this whole episode could have been avoided. Please look into whether the restroom was really out of order or if they just didn't want to deal with cleaning the bathroom. I have never had to deal with anything like that and I did not like the fact that I had to walk home after I had to poop on myself because of this. I will not be going back to this store because of my being humiliated with what happened.

Heartland Outdoor Cat Food (?) Cat Poison (!)
Our cats don’t recognize this crap as food. Had to buy it because their shelves are nearly always empty.
Attempted return, manager balked, but finally acquiesced.
I got my righteous customer anger out by opening sealed items and leaving them on their untidy shelves (I have a new hobby!).
Loosing money is the only thing that gets their attention, so sabotage those shelves!
Go to hell Dollar General.

I have complained before, but they never do anything about it. The manager needs to be fired. It is infuriating. I bought the Dollar General Heartland dry cat food for the first time. I have 2 cats and a dog who also eats out of their bowl when we bring him in at night. My youngest cat immediately started having bloody loose stools. My older cat has also been puking it up. Last night my dog who is 13 and has NEVER had an indoor accident also had a massive loose bloody stool. I will not be feeding this to them ever again.

Termination
I am the former Assistant manger at the 11568, but I also worked at store 18089. I was terminated for not checking IDs, however i did check ID but at the time I was seen on the camera that was a regular so I did not check his ID. The reason I am writing i was terminated for not checking an ID but the Distract manager Brandy, saw the cameras and stated that no one was checking IDs but they would get a second chance if they did it again it was automatic termination. I don't think it is fair that she gave everyone received a second chance expect me. Not only is that not right but the Manger of 18089 where i was helping out still has a job when she does nothing all day but walk around and talk on the phone, she leaves to go to the bank and is gone for 3 or 4 hours, also I know that when you leave the store with the deposit it is to be taken straight to the bank the the manger would have me drop it off at her house and she would walk it to the bank. and that to me is more of an issue than not checking an ID what is something was to happen on her way to the bank. There is a lot of stuff that goes on at that store that is unacceptable but if you are one of The district managers favorites she will allow you to get away with it and just throw someone else under the bus to cover them.
