How responsive is Costco's customer service?

Very poor 🤒
We don't know much about how Costco handles customer complaints outside ComplaintsBoard, but what we see here, on our website, is quite disappointing. We think there might be reasons for the company's actions (like not knowing about the complaints), and we would be happy to see them among customer-focused businesses that easily solve customer problems. But until that happens, we ask reviewers to be cautious when dealing with Costco and using their services, and to carefully read the experiences of other customers on ComplaintsBoard, because who is warned is armed, you know! 💪

Costco chafing dish

On 12/7/19 I ordered two (2) chafing dishes. I received one (1) on 12/12/19 but did not receive the second one. I called costco.com and was told the vendor would express deliver the second one and I would receive an email confirming shipment with tracking number. On 12/13/19 I did not receive the item and did not receive the confirmation email with tracking number. Costco.com has committed fraud and I will be filing a complaint against them with the US Attorneys Office.

Costco straws

This is an official protest against those new thin cardboard straws dispensed at the food service area. My daughter used 4 to get down her smoothie yesterday. They bend and soak through=Not good at all!
If you are trying to go green or reduce plastic--that is, going for the political correct vote-then how about eliminating the plastic packing all over the rest of the store. The plastic containers that my favorite muffins come in are a total waste! They are not airtight nor green friendly.
Cardboard straws? Really? Total waste and most irritating!
Sorry to be a complainer-we love Costco! (and we may have to save our BK straws when we go to Bellingham:) And we refuse to use metal reusable straws as there is really No way to dry them, and mold grows inside. GM

Costco monthly erroneous interest charges despite proof of receipt by my bank

Every single month I have to phone Citi about erroneous interest charges, despite the fact that I pay my card in full every month! I have proof of timely delivery from my online banking's bill pay service, yet Citi repeatedly doesn't post it until after my due date. Now, they say their terms and conditions only allow 1 interest rate credit and I do not qualify for another. This issue is one being caused by their erroneous billing practices, yet I, a diligent payer, find myself on the losing end of the battle- again. I am extremely unhappy and disappointed that a reputable company like Costco is affiliated with a company with fraudulent business practices. Latest charge is on Dec 2019 statement-$20.17. They say this is from an Oct 2019 charge but just now posted to my account. This is the 4th time this year this has happened. Credit Cd # ending in 8431. Name: Tracy Park. I would like this interest credited ($20.17) and future payments posted on time. My email: [protected]@gmail.com.

Costco pharmacy negligent behavior

On 21 Nov I wen to Sand City Costco Pharmacy late afternoon to pick up a prescription that had been prescribed by UC that I had visited earlier in the day. I presented my VA insurance card. Was informed by the Pharmacy tech that they do not recognize the VA insurance only Active Duty Tricare. I said that was strange since Costco was on the list of approved places for VA insured folks like me to pick up our medications. He said no we do not have any thing to do with Veterans. I went out to the parking lot and called the VA nurse advice line to apprise them of what I was dealing with. I was starting to have a hard time breathing. The air was cold. I had bronchitis and was coughing up a storm and was also running a fever. One of the medications that I had been prescribed was rescue inhaler (albuterol). The nurse was really worried about me and thought it best that I go to the ER to getting a breathing treatment and get checked out. I told I really wanted to see about getting my meds and head home right away. I did not want to have to drive of in the dark 30min or more ride to the ER. The nurse called the Pharmacy to see what was going on. After a while she came back on line and said she had no idea what was going on but if I could pay cash and than submit a claim. I said no problem. I went back in and said I would like to get my medications. The older lady at the counter said they still had not processed the order. I said could I at least get my rescue inhaler and her response was not until all the medications were processed. I told her again that I was really short of breath and needed the rescue inhaler and again her response was that I would have to wait. Over 5 times I went up and asked for my rescue inhaler and each time was told to wait. I waited over an hour and 20 mins. That is totally unacceptable practice. I was so upset and having a really hard time breathing yet absolutely nobody in that pharmacy gave a damn and basically ignored someone who was in distress. I did not have the strength to speak up. I was scared because I was feeling so ill and vulnerable. I was also frustrated and extremely angry that the Pharmacy staff could be so cold hearted, callous, insensitive and negligent in taking care of a client who truly was not doing that well. It is shameful and disgraceful. I am now feeling a little better and plan on bringing this up with legal counsel as well.

Costco food court

Encountered the change to paper straws for the first time when having a diet Pepsi with my lunch on 11/25/2019. The wax(?) or paper imparted an unfavorable taste that has negatively and drastically changed the taste I have enjoyed for the last ten years at this food court. Please test for a different replacement for plastic straws and /or have your tasters try it for themselves to see if there might have some other cause.

Costco kirkland signature chocolate chip cookie dough protein bar

10.21.2019
I refrigerate these bars prior to eating them so they are more firm. I am not sure if that contributes to the following or not:

On numerous occasions I have had to pull plastic from my mouth as the internal plastic liner separates from the wrapper. It is extremely hard to see or notice any plastic remaining on the bar.

I am VERY CONCERNED that I may have eaten this plastic liner. While I love the bar, I am going to have to discontinue purchasing them.

I believe this is an ongoing issue as I previously received a recall notification (way too late as we had already eaten the bars) for the same issue but with a blue plastic liner.

I would like for someone from the Kirkland brand to reach out to me regarding this matter.

Costco shoes

I love Costco!
Court Classics are / were the best shoes ever. They have not been stocked for several years at Costco, Lehi, UT. My old Court Classics (7 pair) are all wearing out. The new similar shoes you sell now are too narrow for comfort.
I noticed that on the tennis court a few years ago, most players wore Court Classics. If you bring them back to Costco, Lehi, I'll buy 5 pair. I would guess that most men would.
A few years ago, my dentist commented on my Court classics and said he had 5 pair of them. They look classic and feel great!
Thank you,

Costco bacardi rum

The Anchorage warehouses have stopped selling it and its the one reason I go everyweek, which leads to other purchases. I don't need to drive 40 miles if the products I want aren't available. The Kirkland Brands of wine, Tigula, and Rum don't come anywhere near premium products, and most give you hangover which is a sign of low grade alcohol. The store personal say they don't control buying, but if I'm to remain a customer need to bring Bacardi light back. Membership renewal pending.

Costco Costco concierge services

I called for tech support on 11/13/19. After listening to the automated message repeatedly say hold time would be 10 minutes, my call was answered 40 minutes later. Ridiculous! A gal named Kiara, who explained that it took so long to answer because you are understaffed, did absolutely nothing to resolve my laptop issues after speaking with me for approximately 90 minutes. She did not seem to know what she was doing and kept asking me the same questions numerous times after I had answered them and her customer service skills were definitely lacking. Finally, she transferred me over to Microsoft. My observation is that she had difficulty understanding the answers to simple questions, even after I tried to patiently explain it in the most elementary fashion I could (I'm a retired educator with lots of experience in this area:0), which resulted in her asking me the same questions multiple times. I went online to check out customer reviews of Costco's Concierge Tech Support and I was very disappointed to read it has received only a 1 star rating from many other people who have had very frustrating experiences when calling for assistance. I prefer contactin you directly, in hopes of improving your customer service and your ratings.

Thank you for taking time to review my feedback. I look forward to your response.

The Costco Concierge Service is bad. I called over 4 times and nobody seem to help. I was told 2X that a return box would be sent out. Nothing. I called again and send out e-mails. Nothing! I have become tired of their cat and mouse game. It looks like they can't get their act together. Costco is good on other things, but their Concierge service is a failure.

Costco Wiejske wyroby petite dill pickles

Hello, is this Vlasic customer service? If so. My local Costco in Honolulu stopped carrying the Wiejske Wyroby Petite Dill Pickles. Is there any way that you could encourage them to restock them? They carried them for years and I have become accustomed to them. That are absolutely great. Then, for reasons unknown, they switched to a Nally's product which is, frankly, horrible. Or, is there a way I can purchase on-line? you can email me at [protected]@gmail.com. Please respond.

Costco laptop purchase

Purchased a Lenovo Flex Touchscreen computer in 2016 and the touchscreen stopped working when I updated windows. Lenovo issued both screen replacements and full laptop replacements while it was under warranty.

I searched extensively online and found that this was a common issue where Lenovo did not issue updated drivers for the current versions of Windows. I thought that we would be fine as we were covered under the Costco 2+2 extended warranty. I was wrong. While they do extend the warranty, they exclude any product defects which is the only reason you get a warranty . . . for defects. So pretty much this is a worthless gimic to give you peace of mind, but they do not follow through.

I used to only purchase electronics from Costco due to this warm and fuzzy warranty. I will purchase electronics at Best Buy or anywhere else.

Costco simply purrfect cat litter

I have been buying Simply Purrfect Cat Litter for 15 + years from Costco. The recent batch I purchased has had baking soda added to the formula. As a result, the littler is very dusty! The effect on my cats has been dramatic. The younger cat will not use the litter immediately after I clean it. He chooses, instead, to urinate on the nearest soft surface: my bed! I regret that it took several loads of laundry for me to put this all together. As a veterinarian, I should have been more aware. I will now be looking for a less dusty clumping litter to preserve my cats' house training and keep me civil to them. And to avoid finding my bedding soaked in cat urine when I prepare to retire for the evening!

Costco wine

Picked up a bottle of wine thinking it was $12.99. Got home and found that I had been charged $39.99. Took the bottle back and was refused refund. Talked with both supervisor and manager at the brighton michigan costco who had apparently not taken the "customer service" training program. Not interested in the fact that this particular bottle was placed in a bin with a $12.99 bottle side by side. Signs were on opposite sides of the bin causing one to believe that the $39.99 was the next bin over. No satisfaction as I was told it was my fault and there was nothing they would do. After explaining that I was taking my $4000+ spend somewhere else and would share this experience, I was told, "oh well". It wasn't the money, it was the blatant disregard, dismissal and disrespect of a a long time customer. You decide.

I did my shopping and went to this cashier who was so ignorant I never complained about anything but he was literally toss my merchandise to the end to put in cart he asked me three times if I was using my card I purchased colored peppers when he toss them the bag ripped open. He put my pumpkin pie then on top he put Clorox wipes and my bread was smashed I bought a back pack he said are you buying this? He had an attitude and kept ringing the same item on my receipt I had 6 voids. He started ringing the person behind me stuff. I told the checker going out she said his name is Dylan and she said he didn't place the things in cart right after I was done he scanned my receipt. Don't know why. He needs to be talked too if he can't take busy time of the year he needs to get another job not in the public. I am so upset my pie and bread was smashed.

Costco employee behavior

Employee Vincent Clark from the La Quinta store had an affair with my wife. I am now divorcing her and she says she is no longer with Vincent. However, because we co-parent for our two boys, 3 and 5 years of age, we have to go places to buy things for them. I avoid going to that store but rarely I must go. When Vincent is there, instead of avoiding facing me, he keeps staring at me and looking around me to see if my wife is there also, trying to reconnect to her?, I do not know why he would try to provoke like that and harass us. I will file a police report if I have to, or sue the store to get him off my back. I do not wish Costco to fire him, but I hope he goes to another store not in our area, so he stops harassing me, my children, my wife (ex-wife to be, but the mother of my children).

Costco citi costco credit card moving money from one account to another

I July, 2019 the citi credit card posted a credit of 3500 $ to my account; in August they took back the money stating it was an error on their part. In September they took the 3500$ back again and after two months of taking back and forth with the operators, they claim they sent a check (which I clearly told them not to send) that was cashed. The problem still continues and have been told they will investigate it as if I was the problem. Really shady business. This looks like money laundering and I'm not giving up. Needless to say I will close the account when this is over and will never touch Costco again. You'll miss a good customer.

Costco costco concierge

I have spent hours on the phone with Costco Concierge in the last week trying to get my laptop fixed under warranty. I first had a problem over a year ago, but it was so infrequent, I ignored it. However, the computer started crashing every 15 minutes or so, so I finally had to call in.
It seems like the reps want to do as little work as possible and make it inconvenient as possible to resolve problems. The warranty policy itself is vague and says it extends the manufacturer's policy, but that is false.
I performed the factory reset the concierge asked me to, that they assured me would fix the problem. When it didn't work, they asked me to buy recovery software to try another fix. First of all, that's what the warranty is for, so I don't have to pay extra money to fix it. Second, I was told by the manufacturer that the problem was hardware and that wouldn't fix it. Costco is supposed to extend the manufacturer's warranty, and the manufacturer in that case would have had me send in the laptop. Further, the manufacturer told me and another Costco manager that the problem is hardware-related and that manager, M, stated he would put in a request to have my laptop fixed since it was hardware and another factory reset from usb wouldn't fix that. This was after I spent 3+ hours that day getting the run around between the manufacturer and Costco.
When I called the next morning, the Costco agent told me Asus had said it was a hardware problem again. That's 3 Asus agents that diagnosed a hardware problem. Well. Then when I call back, these geniuses B and E, instead of honoring what the manager the night before me told me about being able to send my laptop in to be fixed, decided to relaunch their own investigation. I really don't know why they took it upon themselves to redo this when I had spent hours on the phone the previous night going through the whole problem with multiple people multiple times. Why make it so difficult for customers to get help with their products? Was it really necessary to waste over half my day?
So I spent another 3 hours on the phone between Costco and Asus. The Asus agent, K, was very kind and helped me reset the bios to see if that would help. It was shockingly pleasant to have someone actually understand that not having a working laptop affects everything I do and is extremely inconvenient, without me even having to say it, and not have me do useless, costly steps that wouldn't work. Again, I was told me it was a hardware issue and I could send in the laptop to have it fixed and they'd take care of it all since I had already did a big factory reset and they empathized with how much time I'd already spent trying to fix it. Except I couldn't because my warranty was no longer with them but with Costco. I was tempted to just pay the $60 to send it in to them and not deal with Costco concierge again.

In conclusion, thank you, Costco Concierge, for wasting hours of my already scarce time and making it exceptionally difficult and frustrating to get assistance with my computer. Future warranties will be through the manufacturer who actually cares a little bit about customer convenience.

Costco black forest organic gummy bears

I purchased this product on Sunday at the Palm Desert, CA Costco. I was going to hand them out on Halloween. Not now, I opened a few bags and the pictures added shows the inside of the last package I opened. . I definitely won't be buying or eating these again. I would be so embarrassed if this bag was given to a child. I am in the process of bringing them back to Costco so they can notify the company.

Costco budget rental cars

On line with my 85 year old mother for over 30 min. They have only two employees actually working at orlando airport. All other counters adequately staffed with no lines. This is horrendous for Costco members. Sister had a similar experience here. Was ripped off, waited and they had no car. Costco should think about who they partner with. It's tarnishing you're brand and reputation.

Costco mary (cart attendant, greeter, bagging)

My fiance and I made our bi-weekly run to Costco in Burlington WA, mostly for supplies for an upcoming Halloween/Birthday party this Saturday. At the checkstand, we had the most unpleasant flat out rude and degrading experience with an employee named "Mary". I attempted to pay with my pre-paid debit card I aquired through Bluebird/Amex. After the initial scan was attempted, she then proceeded to provide the following commentary: "Oh no no. We don't accept Amex ever since they began robbing people" and then shot me the dirtiest look. Like your opinion was even sought after, Mary. I had nothing to do with that company's actions. Next time keep your comments to yourself. From this point forward I will avoid your unwelcomed criticism at all costs.
