Very disappointed in Target policy. Received angel as a gift at Christmas and it worked for two week's when the light's on the top half went out. Tried to fix by their direction;s, could not. Called number on the box, no help.went to Gurnee, Il store no help, callled Minnesota no help. Because we do not have a receipt or gift receipt, no one want's to claim resposibility.Every one said it is a seasonal item and the numbers are out of the system. Now I have a 69.99 angel that doesn't work. Thought a big Corp. like Target would stand behind what they sell especially with their name printed on the box. WRONG. Myself and daughter's will not shop at Target any More.

Then perhaps some people shouldn't jump to conclusions on the type of person I am or whether or not I'm still a slave for a terrible company? If I'm going to be automatically placed into the section of "Terrible Person" for merely wearing a red shirt and khakis to support myself, then yes, I'll respond with a little anger. I don't begrudge you for the job you do everyday, you shouldn't automatically figure I'm someone with some form of mental/social impairment for merely having a job.

And honestly, I gave sound advice. Here's what took me less than 5 minutes to discover:

If you want your money back, this is the way to go. Send an email/call all of these people, leave messages, etc etc. Perhaps this giant, terrible company will respond to you and you'll get your money back.

I actually said Target sucks. Multiple times. No one listened *shrug*

Instead, I was accused of still working there and being a terrible ### for pointing out how shoddy of a work environment and store it is.

Then I took the time to point out that this board could be used to effectively get Target (and others) to actually do something about the return via contacting corporate people. No one seemed to like my advice, which once again *shrug*

Negative points on this board don't really matter ultimately, but once again *shrug*

I hate GOING INTO both Target and Walmart. I think they both have items equally in low price that I can buy, but I hate dealing with crowds of people and waiting in all the lines. I really like Old navy too, I got a ton of clothes for $50.00, I was actually pretty shocked, they have good sales there, on the busy side also, but hey everyone wants a bargain right.

A young disrespectful manger informed us that alll we could do is sell it used for $40 trade in value we were outraged the manager did tell us the return policy is on the back of the reciept which you obviously get after you purchase a item and small cardboard standup on th counter (the manager had to move other standups that were blocking it)...

Lies, lies, lies
I was "banned" from a kroger grocery store because store management said that I was harassing her employees when all along the problem was with the one of the managers calling me a bad name! I contacted the corporate office several times by email and no one responded! And right to this day no one has contacted me concerning these matters! I emailed them of course and they would always respond by email apologizing but never discussed anything with me about the problems and would always get my phone numbers! I have been shopping at this store for some years and do not accept this decision! Why didn't I get "banned" from all the other years I have shopped there? The store is a good store they just have the wrong management who do not know how to deal with their customers! On Tuesday October 30th I went into the store and had some problems at the self checkout and I ended up having words with the same manager I always have a problem with as I was leaving the store! She said that she was going to make a report and have me banned the next time I come into the store! She told me she was off on Wednesday October 31st and to come in on Thursday to see what will happen! I didn't think nothing of it because I feel she was the problem! And I was not coming in the store just to harass her like she was saying! I don't know what she said or what she wrote! The other store manager approached me while at the pharmacy picking up my medicine and asked me could she talk to me and I said yes! We went over to the side and told me that I have been banned from her store because I have been a problem to them! And then they were laughing as I was leaving! The managers that is! They were the only ones I have had problems with because one of the managers is very immature and I acted accordingly! So, to me this problem can go both ways and was uncalled for to have me banned! After all I don't even understand what banned means! The manager told me if I didn't leave she would call the police! And I was like ok! But the thing of it is I was doing nothing and they came to me when I was minding my own business! During the whole time while shopping in the store no one bothered to pull me over to the side to talk to me then! And corporate office are so unconcerned about the situation and their customers!...

Curiously since stealth pilot and 123321 posters called people all kinds of names does that mean to quote stealth pilot

"When people who demand sympathy do not get it they resort to name calling and accusations. It is their defense mechanism and is a very sad trait in a human. Poor poor pitiful me...I thank my lucky stars I am not that pathetic"

Does that mean you two are the self proclaimed problem. Why do you two keep attacking people.

Remember that PS3 experience that prompted this site?

by Target Sucks on Jun.14, 2010, under Customer Experience, TargetSucks

Remember how those [censored] bags couldn’t figure out how to sell me the 3 year warranty for my playstation? Well that warranty would have come in handy now that my playstation is broken. What’s that you say? It’s less than a year? Still under manufacturer warranty? Yes! That’s true! Only if Target would reprint the receipt for me so I can prove that to Sony! What? That’s against your policy to do anything that might be helpful or useful to your customers?

Department of Weights & Measures anyone?

by Target Sucks on May.21, 2010, under TargetSucks

I needed something from the stupid store. I went there. They had it, 6 of the same item on a peg for $4. Rings up at $8. Do I care THAT much about $4? No. But if you have a product with a price, and it isn’t just one misplaced item…HONOR THE ###ING PRICE. $4 is a small price to pay for good customer service, a concept that Target doesn’t get.

MY CHALLENGE TO YOU ALL:

If you find a price discrepancy, take a picture! Send it to the Department of Weights and Measures. Target is chock full of price issues and violations. It’s been a long time since I was a retail manager, but at the time the fine was $1000 per violation. If everyone makes an effort to take pictures and file complaints, we can hurt the stupid company that loves to screw over its customers and employees alike.

Get to work!

So here is my story of BS Target experience. I started working for the Garland Texas, Super Target in 2005 as a Backroom Team Member working the overnight shift. Target Hates People

by st. louis hater on Mar.05, 2010, under Employee Experience

Get a load of this! I work for a target in st. louis for about 10 years. I had heard last week that a co-worker’s father passed away. i wanted to know when the wake and funeral was. So, I waited a week to ask since i hadn’t heard anything since they ALWAYS post the wake/funeral announcements. Today, I asked someone at work when my co-worker’s funeral was and they told me it was on 2 days ago. So i in turn asked why wasn’t it posted earlier. I was told that Target doesn’t post that stuff anymore because it’s not “brand”, or professional looking to post such stuff. Basically, it doesn’t look good for the store’s image.

I COULD NOT TELL YOU HOW ANGRY I WAS WHEN I HEARD THIS! The ###ing powers-that-be think it looks bad? What the hell is that logic? The company used to care about people somewhat, now they don’t even matter because of corporate ### logic like that. THAT”S WHY I am so glad I’m leaving the company and getting a career going and dumping the ### hole of a company. If you ever consider working for the “bulls-eye”, think again!

Dear Target Customer service:

by TargetDoesSuck on Dec.18, 2009, under TargetSucks

Dear Target Customer service:

As a customer since 2001 I was astonished today when I decided to take you up on your shopping offer and save 10% when using my Target to make a purchase. I checked my account balance and found that my available credit had been reduced recently which given the current state of the economy is completely understandable as you are likely minimizing risk. Rather than $300 of available credit I expected you had reduced my available credit in the last few weeks to just $100. Again, understandable given these uncertain times. So I took some cash and my card with $100 of available credit according to your update just a few days ago and went to my favorite Target location here in Seal Beach to do some Christmas shopping in an effort to take advantage of the 10% offer YOU SENT TO ME in the mail recently.

When I arrived at check out after an hour and a half spent shopping at your establishment I was told by the very nice cashier that unfortunately the purchase had been declined. I reduced the level of my purchase to under $40 and was again told it would not go through. Unbelievable. How was this possible?

When I got home I checked over my account online and found that you had reduced the available credit not once but twice and all without notification. I believe that this is exactly what Congress and the people in our great nation are so confused and upset about. A lack of common courtesy and no business acumen whatsoever.

While I know that it is important for businesses to manage risk but question why you would waste valuable resources including the cost of mailing and the loss of the paper and time necessary to complete the mailing of this “Special Offer” that YOU* sent to me.
I run a mid size company and am from time to time astonished that companies like Target continue to flourish in difficult times given the lack of customer service example I have just provided. Perhaps times are changing. Please understand that as I circulate this to my friend Jack Popejoy at KFWB and other local radio, television and web based consumer reports sites along with Ed Royce (Congressman from our district who has taken a particular interest in credit card company’s behavior recently ) it is my hope that this letter of correspondence receives something other than a canned response from your system. But be assured that all correspondence will be placed on some very high profile sites around the net beginning with this letter and then adding to the string as you reply. The next move is yours.

Respectfully,

Name withheld until they fix the problem!

Stupid Store Policies

by TargetSucks on Nov.05, 2009, under Customer Experience, TargetSucks

I bought an iced-tea maker on clearance. Two days later my friend bought the same one for half the price. I went back to Target with my receipt for them to adjust the price the day after my friend got his. So THREE days after I purchased the iced-tea maker, they told me there was nothing they could do to adjust the price it’s “against their store policy to adjust clearance items.” ### THAT! I had it for 3 days and the day before my friend gets it for half the price, what the hell is that about? They told me the only thing I could do is return it for a refund, and let it go through the return process. IF they put it back on the shelf I can repurchase it at the discounted price. IF I find it.

How the hell is this policy good for business, or their customers? I can just return the crap and they can be stuck with USED clearance items. Which I did. I returned it and they can go ### themselves. Ok, I only sort of returned it. They had a display model left, which I purchased at the discounted price, put it in the box from the one I had at home and returned it for the original purchase price. Take that! ### customer service ###! Small victory, but a victory just the same.

Worst Customer Service

by TargetSucks on Nov.05, 2009, under Customer Experience, TargetSucks

I bought a PS3 Slim. My old one had the YLOD/RLOD (Yellow/Red Light of Death) and over-heated and died 3 times (I repaired it each time). So I bought the PS3 Slim and was deciding whether or not to buy the 3 Year Warranty. I decided for the $30 it would cost me it would be worth it, so I went back to Target with the original receipt, and tried to purchase the warranty. None of the ###s that worked there could figure how to sell the warranty even though I was told I just need to bring the receipt in to add it on within 90 days.

So the ###s behind the counter tried calling the manager on duty to come help. They paged her 3 times to customer service and the lazy ### didn’t come. Instead, she asked what they needed. They explained and she told them that if it’s not working I should drive home and bring the PS3 in. I asked the ###s behind the counter “is she too lazy to come up here?” and they replied “yeah, all the managers here are really lazy, especially her.”

So they told the ### that I wanted to speak with her and after waiting almost 10 minutes she finally came to customer service to try and “help.” She couldn’t figure it out either so I tried asking her a question about it and the dizzy ### tried TALKING OVER me and wouldn’t listen! I said, excuse me, I’m the customer here and I have a question, and you need to listen. I suggested a possibility and she wouldn’t even try it because I didn’t have the box with me. Instead she purposely provoked me to piss me and I called her a dizzy ###, which she is, and I left. Stupid dizzy ###.

I Hate Target

by TargetSucks on Nov.03, 2009, under Customer Experience, Employee Experience, TargetSucks

I didn’t always hate Target. There was a time when I thought they were a great retailer that actually cared about their customer’s experiences (and maybe even their employees). I recently have been finding this to be a blatant pipe dream. I spent over a decade working as a retail manager for other companies, some of which actually cared about Customer Service. We always did whatever was needed to make the customer happy. Target apparently never heard of this concept.

Apparently I still work at Target now? When did that happen?

That's why these boards (and ultimately internet) are so ###ing ###ed. Getting a point across to someone is like trying to swim through tar that's been lit on fire while monkeys throw ### at you. It all devolves into name calling and ### as each side tries to make the other side feel stupid and get a rise out of them.

If people are so concerned with with how a company treats them, use the internet properly and get the contact information you need in order to try and make a difference. I'm fairly certain there are websites (like Consumerist.com for example) that have the CEO contact info for Target. Instead of posting idiotic replies and name calling, try contacting them instead. If you want to make a difference, stop worrying about your ###ing e-penii and do some leg work to make a change.

Everyone complains about the system, no matter what system it may be. No one takes the time or puts in the effort to make a change. If a company treats you poorly, start contacting them via calls, letters, emails, or whatever else have you. If a group of people do it, it helps even more. This website could potentially be an amazing tool to actually make some changes in corporate policies and how customers/employees are actually treated, but it seems like it's more devoted to this in-fighting ### than actually making a difference.

It all comes down to people.

Sometimes customers think that Target sucks because just one employee of Target sucks.

They can suck so bad that it causes customers to lose faith in an entire company.

A story about such a person is related here

A Tale Of Two Target Managers And A PS3 With Mismatched Serial Numbers

After wasting 5 minutes arguing with one of the most stubborn women on the East Coast, he agreed. He walked about 3 feet away (for privacy?) and picked up the big red phone to call the other location - obviously I was eavesdropping. He gave the GSLT(?) of Fairfield, Ryan, the rundown of what was happening and the impossible happened. Ryan actually wanted to see the situation resolved fairly. Ryan traced the PS3 and was able to see that it had been returned a few days before my sister purchased it. He was also able to see that the serial number on the console was NOT checked against the serial number on the box (scary what a computer can tell you) and told Y. that it was a legitimate return.

I have never seen a "manager" so angry after solving a problem. Y. told us that it was Ryan's decision if Fairfield would accept the return but it was HIS decision if Clifton would accept the return. And he had already made up his mind - no. After a 45 minute drive to Fairfield (which is about 5 minutes away - don't you love Route 3 on a Friday?), we were finally able to meet the charming Ryan who processed our return in - seriously - less then 3 minutes. It was unbelievable.

I consider myself to be a fairly informed consumer. I keep my receipts, I watch my statements, and I play by the rules - but it never would have occurred to me to open a box, remove the packaging (seriously, this PS3 was perfectly wrapped. I want the thief to come to my house and clean because he/she is METICULOUS) and compare serial numbers. It also never occurred to me that Target would accuse me (in a roundabout way) of dishonesty and fraud. All in all, it only took about 1.5 hours of my life to solve the problem but the experience has left me with a terrible taste in my mouth (or is that lunch?)

So BOO to the unnamed evil male manager "Y", and CHEERS to Ryan for doing the right thing.

A couple of Flat World moments from the Target-Sucks Bulletin Board.

This was something that happened a few days ago...

I'm normally on the floor, but I was closing backrom/sales floor (I was told to go to the floor after the caf pulls were done). One of the new team members asked for a location check which I gave him, took a total of 20 seconds, and I told him that there were no locations.

After that I went on break, went outside to smoke a cancer stick. As I came back in I saw the GSTL give me the get the heck out of the front look, so I walked back to the TSC, the guest was complaining that I didn't take enough time checking the back for the product she wanted.

Now I understand that the guest really had no way of knowing that we basicly carry around small computers with us wherever we go. But she didn't give the GSTL the chance to explain to her that all we have to do is type or scan in a number and within seconds we know wether we have any in the backroom or not.

Finnaly the GSTL walked back to TSC grabbed my PDA out of my holster and pretty much yelled at the lady... "See this is what we call a PDA, this is a computer that is hooked wirelessly to a bigger computer that has a database of everything in the back as well as where it is. He didn't spend alot of time looking for your __________(I really have know idea what it was she wanted, I think it was some sort of sheet set) because he didn't have to. This small hand held computer did all of his looking for him."

The lady shut up quickly and asked if we could call another store.

Funny that for this lady a thorough search through hundreds of shelves & locations would actually mean manually spending long periods of time physically seeking to find a wanted product.
This next one is strange beyond words.

People are stupid with gift regestries. One lady, after I scanned her sheet to mark an item as purchased on the registry, asked why the paper didn't say the item was purchased. SHE EXPECTED THE PRINTED PAGE THAT SHE HAD IN HER HAND TO UPDATE AND SHOW THAT THE ITEM HAD BEEN PURCHASED!

I looked at her, and said.. umm its paper... it can't change. (Well, at least not until Electronic ink becomes a standard in a few years...)

I explained that it updates FUTURE printouts. She still didnt get it. I didn't know what else to do on that one. I mean its PAPER. It doesnt just magically get changed. So, I just put a "1" on the paper over the "0" in the purchased column and said "There.. all corrected for you, sorry about that"

She left happy.

I really love the way this was handled. The person wanted the paper to be updated, and a quick thinking employee simply updated the paper.

Brilliant!

How to send messages to PDA's.
From this thread LRT, PDT, PDA Tips and Tricks

You can send messages by using the Avalanche program on the signing PC. But you have to know the IP address of the gun you want to send it to, simple, just reboot the pdt and try to cath the last 2 or 3 digits of the IP number as it boots. Then find that number on Avalanche, double click it and there is a typing box to send a message. The PDT must be booted up, doesnt matter if your logged in or at the "Enter to connect" screen, it'll work from there.

Every now and then I like to feature a post from the BB that tells a really good story.

This weeks comes from user gstm on a thread discussing how customers expect employees to be perfect-recall experts on 25, 000+ items in a huge retail store.

If you have a question about electronics, ask an electronics TM, not somone in softlines. I don't go to Home Depot looking for advice on what type of fishing line I should buy my neighbor.

I do try to help people but it's frustrating, especially when they ask you about specific merchandise and prices. I want to say "How would I know how much that baseball glove is, I don't even know what one you were looking at". I hate it when you tell someone where an item is and they're like "Are you sure, I was just there."

If they where there, they must be blind.

I must admit, we have one guy come in the store. He's about 30 and expects us to do his shopping. He asked where EVERY item is and wants the full details of the item...

Guest: Where is the Kool-aid?
TM: Aisle A15
Guest: Do you have cherry?
TM: Yes, I believe we do
Guest: What sizes does that come in?
TM: The standard sizes in which all the other flavors are availabl.
Guest: And how much would that be?
TM: There is a price on the shelf, sir
Guest: You mean you don't know how much it is?
TM: No, sir, I'd assume its about $x.xx
Guest: And how many serving does that make?
TM: You'd have to check the label

You think i'm joking...nope! we ALL run when we see him. Even the TPS will tip us off. We started saying "I don't know" and walking away. The GSTL spent 20minutes with him with all his questions about white out! The GSTL told us to avoid him at all costs and to say "Let me get someone who will be able to answer that for you" and just leave but not call another TM.

Glossary:

TM = Team Member, a Target Employee.

GSTL = Guest Services Team Leader, the supervisor for customer service.

Target really has terrible service.

### off darkhole. I'm an ### from people like you who think they are owed everything. The company as a whole sucks, did I ever say otherwise? Excuse me for forgetting that as customers though I'm supposed to sit down and suck your dick. And wooda, WHY do you keep posting that? You're like a broken toy that keeps repeating the same phrase - something that gets tossed in the trash.

I'll come right out and say I worked for Target. I ###ing hated my time there and I do not wish to go back ever. As a workplace, it was terrible - the managers were terrible, the shifts sucked, and the shoppers were ###s half the time who thought I didn't know my right hand from my left foot.

That being said - no receipt, no return for items over $50 generally. 123321 is exactly right - how can we tell you bought the item? It's generally the same across any retail spectrum. I had people yell at me for not returning items from a different store when they presented me with the other store's receipt. What the hell is that? Try this - go buy a $300 X-Box at Best Buy and bring it to GameStop still sealed. Try and return it there without the receipt and see what they say. Are you going to boycott them now?

You're going to sit here and complain about a company protecting themselves from potential fraud/liars/thieves? Then fine, don't shop there and shut the hell up.

Its plain as day that a few poster refuse to acknowledge Targets poor customer service and keep trying to deflect the real issue and focus on insults and blaming other retailers for Targets poor customer service.

Remember if Target treats you poorly DO NOT SHOP THERE.

Here are complaints about Target so to all Target shills read carefully.

Janr of Lakewood, CO June 28, 2010

I purchased a heavy metal hammock stand on June 20, 2010 for 99.99. days later is was marked down to 69.99. I actually still had it in my car. It was heavy and "I needed help taking it to the backyard. IT took the receipt to the service desk and was told that they could not do a price change. I would have to bring it in and return it. Then I could not buy it again for 14 days. However, I could go and get another one. This is was I did, but what a stupid and time consuming adventure. I can not remember ever dealing with such a stupid return policy. It makes me wonder if shopping a TARGET is worth the effort.

Krista of Lancaster, PA June 12, 2010

I tried to exchange two summer outfits that my daughter received for her birthday. The clothes were from my sister in law so I actually had receipt showing what she paid as well as the original tags that came with the outfits. I only needed to exchange the clothing for size. The woman at the counter told me she could not exchange the clothes because the receipt "expired" and the clothing was "end of season" Now it is June 12th and the clothing were two summer short and tank top outfits.

The woman refused to get a manager for me to speak to saying it was their policy and that if people want to shop for birthday gifts they shouldn't do it 90 days before the birthday. She then proceeded to tell me to take the brand new clothing to Goodwill because Target would do nothing for me. I am not only annoyed by the stupid return policy but am livid at how I was treated in the store. I have twenty dollars worth of 4T clothing that I can do nothing with when all I needed was the clothing in a 5T.

Tracie of Raleigh, NC June 2, 2010

I wasted over an hour this evening being passed from one person to the next, getting different answers from different departments (including absolutely incorrect info) to find that no one could actually assist me with a return. The order referenced was shipped in multiple packages, on dates spanning over a month. The final items arrived to me *less than* 90 days ago at which time, I would expect the 90 day return policy to start.

However, I have been informed that each item has it's own return window. This makes absolutely no sense as they were all ordered / purchased on the same order. Until my order is received in full, there is no way to know if all items work in the space they were purchased for. The item is still in the original packaging, in brand new condition. I would be more than happy to accept a store credit, instead of a refund, as I intended to spend another 300 with target.com this week.

Carrie of Gulfport, MS May 31, 2010

I shopped at Target during my pregnancy for all of my baby needs. This was our first baby so we needed everything, and most of it was bought at Target. My little angel, Aiden, was born in April. Then, 9 days later, he passed away due to congestive heart failure. Since Aiden's father had the flu that entire week, the doctor ordered me and the baby to stay away so we were at my mother's house the entire time. Aiden only got to see his room once and never got to sleep in his bed.

We called Target in the days after Aiden's death and were told that we could return the items (even without a receipt) for cash back due to the circumstances. However, that night, I found the receipt and figured I'd take it just in case. When we got to Target, the lady who had promised us a refund wasn't there but the store manager called her and she admitted to what she had said. Still, after spending over 3 hours in the store, we were told there was nothing they could do since it had been over 90 days since the purchase!

We got on the phone with someone from corporate who MAILED us the money on Target gift cards-- over 1000! We understand that every store has policies and procedures, but there should be some wiggle room for extenuating circumstances. We spent the gift cards and sold some of them. And we have now vowed to never shop at a Target again! So has all of our family! Walmart didn't treat us that way. I had 900 in returns to their srore and I spent about 20 minutes getting my refund. They know what customer service is about!

Amy of Cincinnati, OH May 18, 2010

I bought a playpen on 4/24/10. I used the playpen regularly for my 1 yr old son & it broke. One of the bolts that holds the drop side in place would not latch properly & the playpen was not safe to use anymore. on 5/17 I took the playpen with every single piece, including the box and the receipt to the store to return it. The girl told me she could only do an even exchange since I used it. I told her I had purchased a new playpen elsewhere and did not want another one of these defective/unsafe ones. She said- "Well you used it, you can't just return it". Which really ticked me off- I replied- Yes, I USED it, and it broke in 3 weeks! It is not safe! I didn't just use it and decide I don't want it anymore- it broke! She wouldn't budge & said I had to exchange it for another one or I could TRY calling the manufacurer and send the broken one to them to see what they would do. (seriously!) I said Fine, I'll just exchange it even though I have no need for 2 playpens.

So I go and get a new one, wait in line again and get back to this lovely girl who was "helping" me. She goes through the entire box of the broken item, opens the (Factory) sealed box with the bassinet portion in it. (Remember, my son is 1- I had no need for the bassinet on this playpen), and asks me where the instructions are. I said everything is in that box. She says, well we can't take it without the instructions, you can go home and look for them. I said- ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Take the instructions out of the one you are making me take in it's place! She refused. So I asked for a manager because I was about to lose it on this girl. She points to this girl who couldn't be more than 19 as the "manager". She had no identification qualifying her as such, and from my interaction with her I feel pretty confident she was not a manager. I relay the whole ridiculous scenario to her & she stands there for a good 5 minutes looking totally confused. Finally she says- just take the instructions out of the new one, and looks at me and says- but just so you know, if there's anything wrong with this one we won't be able to take it back. (Because you are being so helpful and understanding with the one I'm returning NOW!) I said- Whatever!

So then the original girl opens up the new box and the new bassinet box and tells the manager that I am missing pieces from the bassinet in the one I'm returning. That was it- the straw broke! I yelled- YOU opened that box! It was factory sealed! I NEVER, EVER opened that part because I had no need for it! If something is missing then YOU took it! YOU OPENED IT! The "manager" comes back over and looks at me, looks at the box and asks the girl if she's sure it's missing. Girl says Yes and rechecks the return & (shocker) finds all the pieces in the box. She says, well I can't find any instructions in this one either. I then realize that they put them in the bottom of the playpens in the little pocket & ask her if she checked- she says "I'm not opening that up!". It really is all I can do to keep from jumping over the counter. I think the manager could see how mad I was getting and said- just do it, just give it to her.

I spend a lot of money at Target, but after this- they have lost my business. I will NOT give my hard earned money to a company who treats me this way. They should gladly take back an item that is unsafe for a baby! I even offered to take a store credit instead of a cash refund. So they can take their rude, uneducated employees and shove them right where the sun doesn't shine. I won't be shopping there anymore. (Well except to send someone in with my gift receipt the idiot printed out with my return to return the playpen I don't want or need). I am out a hundred bucks. Which in the grand scheme of things insn't as bad as my son getting seriously hurt/killed in the unsafe playpen.

roger of sarasota, FL May 13, 2010

Wow, after reading the other complaints about Target's policies, I would not have had the same experience by staying away. I purchased two blankets which continue to shed onto everything. They were washed every two weeks with us hoping the shedding would stop. We did try for longer than 90 days, the return limit we were unaware of. Then we gave up and attempted to return them to no avail. We got the same stock response as all the other compalints. They could not even supply us with the manufacturer's phone number Bottom line, we will have to throw these blankets away and lose 80. As the saying goes, " We know you can take your business elsewhere, so we appreciate your choosing us." Target doesn't get it.

Retha of Milford, OH May 11, 2010

I purchased a Sony under the counter radio for my Travel trailor. It was 79.99. It was purchased in Dec. Weather has just begun to be nice enough to install it. SAt. May 8th I attempted to return it as it would not fit. I was told it was over 90 days and they wouldn't tefund, exchange, or give me a instore credit. However I could go to dept. "8" and find something else. Dept 08 consists of flat screen tv mounts, radios, and TVs. Nothing I'm in need of at this time. I have e-mailed them everyday. They will not budge on this policy. I would be happy to purchase something else worth that amount, just not in that dept.

THeir public return policy does not state any of this. It says nothing about 70 dollarr limit, nothing about having to shop the same department. However it does state they will do a certain amount of no receipt returns. I will never shop there again. I will inform everyone I know of the rudeness of the employees and the GUEST RELATIONS dept. This is crazy for a company not to care about their customers anymore than this. I'm now stuck with a brand new item, never used, worth 79.99 and no use for it. I cannot afford to throw money away like this.

I purchased a Karcher pressure washer for 129.99 Jan 25, 2010. Due to weather conditions & work schedule I did not have an opportunity to open the box & use the item until May 6, 2010. I followed the enclosed instructions to set up the pressure washer. Found one item was not enclosed ( the bag to hold the accessories). I used the pressure washer for no more than 10 minutes before it made a strange sound and stopped any pressure stream of water. I turned it off. Rechecked everything and still it will not work.

I spend approximately 400 per month average at my local Target store. I took the washer with my receipt back today and was told I could not return it as my receipt was one week past the deadline. I could be given a refund of 70 but as I had paid 130 this seemed strange. How can a refund of 70 for my item clear their system but not a refund for the purchase price.

I left my local Target store with my shopping list in hand and went directly to Walmart to make my purchases. I will contact Karcher direct to see about a repair or replacement on the item. I had not even had a chance to mail the warranty before it failed. I had destroyed my Target card & will cancel my account. All ads etc. from Target via email are now sent to spam.

Kevin of Oceanside, CA May 10, 2010

I was given a Xbox 360 for a birthday gift. Of course I did not have the receipt, but when I opened the box the video game that came with the system was inside the normal plastic DVD looking case that was destroyed. There was nothing wrong with the system or the games, but I don't have any case to keep the games from getting all scratched up. I took in just the game to Target because my parents told me they bought it at Target (they told me they bought it there because it was the only store that sold the system with those particular games).

The team members were extremely rude and told me there was nothing they could do. They told me I would have to somehow come up with a receipt just so I could get a plastic case. I explained to them I did not want to exchange the whole system or even the games, but just wanted a case to protect the games. They told me there was nothing they could do and just walked away from me leaving me standing there by myself. I called the customer service line and spoke with a supervisor (Darren and he refused to give me his last name). Darren did not even listen to me because at the end he asked me what I wanted.

Darren not only refused to advise me of his last name, but told me he is not allowed to give me his supervisor's name. All of this because after normal hardworking customers buy a three hundred dollar item get a damaged fifty cent case inside the box and Target does not even have the smarts to replace the cheap case to make a loyal customer happy. I assured them not only will I never set foot inside Target to buy anything, but I will make sure to tell my friends and family about how hard headed they are when it comes to customer service!

It just amazes me that such a big chain is willing to part with customers so easily. It seems as though part of the problem is because they hire and promote young individuals with no life experience that do not realize there is a grey area and customers are what keeps their job open (since they do not have a union to support them) and when they keep sending customers out the door it will eventually affect their job.

I brought a bike in the store months ago. Because Im sure which want to get when I made the purchese, I also talk to the sales associate and to make sure its okay to return if I dont like it. because im comparing with the one I brought in Walmart. After a while, I decided to return the bike, and the bike it look totally new, I just try it for a day, and the store manager claim that the bike has been used for the whole month by explain those wear and tear. At the same time, he also claim that he is a expert of bike becuase he is a manager for BMX couples years ago. For some reason, the store are getting rude and after he expalin to me and I ask couple question, he start to get mad and force us to leave the store without any reason. So i have to keep a bike that I dont like. Such a waste money and it cost 250 plus tax.

I will not use my credit card in any Target store again and tell all my friends and family to do the same
04 at my local Target store. I used my Visa to pay and the clerk said Thank you for shopping at Target. I guess any credit card theif can make a purchase under $50...

I hate shopping at Target
The reason I hate shoppong at Target now is because they moved it out of my area. I have to go way across town to another city to shop at their store. I prefer to shop with them instead of Walmart but as you can see there is a Walmart on every corner and in every city. Why can't Target be like that, at least have 1 in that city...

Unless I get a response from Target, I will never shop at Target again
If Target is doing this to other customers, they are probably keeping a llot of items that they are not informing customers about. It is not until they are missed that we begin to question managers/supervisors, etc. Also, why do I have to speak with an individual that suggests first: that I am not telling the truth and that does not bother to explain the entire process and that puts the blame on the customer...

123321, Stealth Pilot, gkenigmatic.

Target does treat people poorly, instead insults maybe you should try to understand the core of the complaint apathy on the part of Target.

Next you want to shift the focus from Target and blame anyone who dare complain, its plain as day who has the agenda here 123321, Stealth Pilot, gkenigmatic.

Next I suggest you pay close attention to some of the key catch phrases in all of 123321, Stealth Pilot, gkenigmatic posts, pay attention to the “Operatives”, namely 123321, and Stealth Pilot. It is ironic that 123321 constantly insults me and avoids the Target customer service complaint that is the OP's original topic.

IF YOU FEEL TARGET TREATS YOU POORLY do not shop there, its that simple.

As I have already pointed out 123321, for someone with no retail experience you sure do know a lot about Target.

While I appreciate freedom of speech and respect the ability to post personal opinions on public forums as much as the next guy, at some point you have to draw the line on what you’re willing to put up with.
Target will not always resolve complaints in a professional and amicable fashion and 123321 needs to try and understand that, not deflect from those that feel they have been treated poorly and try and insult them.

I bet you are a pilot.

I know that Target has people who watch the web for complaints, then try to discredit the posters who complain.
The OP has a legitimate complaint, the OP is rational.
My rational advice, if Target has treated you poorly through bad customer service DO NOT SHOP THERE.
