Kohl's accused of stealing

I didn't realize that this website existed, but glad that it does. Gives the consumer a whole new perspective on things anyway my complaint is about being accused of stealing at a Kohls. I had purchased back before Christmas 2008 a snow suit and couple packages of socks. This was a lot of money to spend for me and it cost over 50.00. I told the cashier that I did not want a bag because the snowsuit was on a hanger and there were only a couple of packs of socks. Then after the customer trying to pitch one of their reusable shopping bags to me I was able to check out. I proceeded to walk out the door of the store, when one of the managers held the door open for me. I thanked her and she said "did you buy that" and I said "yes I just purchased it" and she said "you didn't want a bag" and I told her "no, I didn't need one" and she just snarled at me and walked away. She was so completely rude and so I returned to the customer service area that night, only to find she was the only manager working. I told the customer service lady what happened, and she proceeded to make excuses for the woman and how she was only human. However, in my mind I have always heard that you should apologize and I worked at Walmart and if I accused someone of stealing (which I would of been fired) then I would apologize immediately not snarl and act like a real witch. Just beware!

Me and my wife were looking for a right size of jeans in the Mens section of this store on 10/27/09 at 7.00pm and where taken aback coz of an employee cursing us on our backs just coz he had to put the clothes back to there proper place.I felt humiliated by this incidence and i am going to lodge complain against this employee to the head office.

Khols does have cameras that can see in the dressing room. Google Khol's cameras in dressing rooms. It is disgusting. I wont shop here again.

How would you feel if someone came into your office right after you finished organizing files, then tossed them all on the ground? It's just like that, man. You should have just asked them to check the stock room for your size. They know better than you, they work there.

they wouldnt use the tapes in court. itd be just a tool used to root out potential shoplifters.

after you leave the store, thats when they catch you red handed with the merchandise. they dont need the tape to prove anything at that point.

willow- stop lying about the video cameras. kohls does not have video cameras in the dressing rooms. if they did and they used this pretend footage (which is illegal) in court it would never fly BECAUSE ITS ILLEGAL! sure, it makes sence to use illegal evidence IN COURT. get real. way to poke a hole in your own convoluted logic.

Are you ladies aware that Kohls video tapes EVERYONE in the dressing rooms... It is against the law but they still do it. They use the excuse it is to catch shoplifters... So I guess you can break the law to catch someone breaking the law... The shoplifters will not complain when they show the tapes in court... they are in no position too. I on the other hand do not wantsomeone seeing me or my little girls naked... I will not shop in their stores!

Kohl's almost impossible to pay your bill

I just now canceled my account,

- can't pay unless you have a routing number.
- can't pay with your debit card at the store.
- the person in the customer service area does not know the amount you owe...seriously folks! The customer service area at kohls has not idea how much you owe, so if you dont have your bill with you you basically have to call and be on hold for hours.
- customer service over the phone is incompetent! I mentioned that I wanted to cancel my account but had a few questions first...so the rep tells me ok its cancelled, are you serious I hadn't even told her to cancel it yet. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPANY.
-I was late on my bill 5 days and got charged 30 dollars, when I had a balance of 50!
-you cant cancel your card at the store...because they don't know your information.
- WORST SERVICE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, NEVER EVER WILL KOHLS GET A PENNY FROM ME EVER AGAIN!

-SUPER AGGRAVATED!

First of all let me make something clear,

I know this was already pointed out but, I have been paying every single bill I owe with my debit card and its has worked wonders, it always gets pulled out from the current balance of my account...

the list of places I pay my bill this way...

AZUMA appliance rental, SRP salt river project of Arizona, T mobile...and so on.

Sorry about the name calling, last thing I wanted was to come in here and be insulted by some idiot who obviously didn't have something better to do...

I think its bad business for any company to not have access to their accounts at their place of business, I mean the person who attended to me was nice enough but I still had to deal with a voice over the phone who certainly didn't care much for her job and was just trying to make a check...

As for the "thats how people become in debt", well I'm sorry for those people, I cant really do much for them..I'm just fortunate enough to have common sense when it comes to finances and I wish I didn't have to take the fault for all those other people.

And off course I keep track of how much I spend, I just happened to be busy that week and couldn't drive to Kohls, my frustration was the way the online billing was handled, because the routing number was necessary...I cant even pay with my "DEBIT" card there like I do all other places...I certainly didn't want to share my routing number with Kohls...

Anyways, I hope that helps anyone who finds themselves in this situation.

Lol, wow someone has worked or works Kohls.

First of all my account number should be able to be looked up with only my information, YES I DID HAVE MY ID AND MY CARD! When I go to the bank all I do is show ID and I'm set so ### YOU you ignorant piece of ###!

I don't give a ### if they get charged a ###ing fee for charging my card, if they really cared about the customer they would let me pay my bill with the currency that I hold! Especially when cash is becoming so obsolete...Debate that you ###.

I wanted to cancel my account but had a few questions first...If anything they should have given me some kind of reason to stay with Kohls instead of cancelling before I could even ask the questions... If they care so much about making and saving money(see upper paragraph) they should have wanted to keep me! so ### them and ### you!

Yes I was late, but I wouldn't have been if they actually allowed you to pay online like most other places...with my ###ing debit/credit card instead of needing my ###ing routing number...For one why the ### would I want this store to know my routing number? so they can make it harder to detach, lol Gestapo is a great way to put it.

If you think that is common sense then you are in for a real lesson in life, learn to spell check your rants...

As a disclaimer I made my post not to stain Kohls standing, but to inform and prevent any unwary customer from having to deal with this ###! its common sense and protected by the first amendment.

I'm not giving Kohl's another dime of my money. I wouldn't mind paying with my routing and account #s but their automated phone system ONLY GIVES YOU 10 SECONDS before cutting you off, then routing you to a live person who is guaranteed to be unhelpful, read robotically from a script, not listen and just throw you right back to the same flawed automated system (this happened four times).

I've never had an issue paying my OTHER bills, but Kohl's clearly hates their customers.

GIVE PEOPLE THE TIME THAT IS NEEDED if you're only going to provide only ONE payment option that involves putting in 9 and 16-digit account numbers! Imagine a 78-year-old trying to do this? But Kohl's DOES NOT CARE.

I paid my bill on March the 10th thru my bank. I never seen it arrive to my bank so made numerous attempts at contacting them with them assuring me my balance was zero. Well i checked today and balance is even more than when i paid it. I called and was told was my bank account didn't have the money. Total bunk as never even showed in my bank. Something is seriously wrong with this company. Once this is paid off i will never do business with this company ever again.

Omg- all of these posts are old so hopefully everyone has cooled off. I just want automatic payment of my minimum balance on the due date to be an option at kohl’s. I am so busy sometimes that I don’t log i. To my account every month and I just saw a 27.00 late fee and my bill is not paid. I know this is my fault but every store and credit card I have offer this option and I feel kohl’s does not to try to collect as a source of income: there probably is a reminder email that comes out but they email me every day about a sale so I mist have missed that. I know this error is my fault but I will have to give up the wonderful savings because they don’t have an option to cover me if I forget to go online every month and pay. 98% of the time I pay my entire balance the week after I shop but I forgot and I don’t like that they do not have my back.

Not processing payments via debit is just limiting routes for your customers to make a payment, therefore losing business. Debit is and will continue to be one of the top ways consumers pay for merchandise. I have multiple accounts with various stores and the worst one to work with payment wise in my experience is Khols by far. I've had the worst online experiences trying to make payments online with Khols compared to any other store out there. Tonight I actually searched the internet out of frustration and found this thread, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents after reading all of the comments in this ongoing debacle which is STILL A CURRENT PROBLEM with NO resolution. Also, in response to Exec "Mac"-- if you are really willing to bend over backwards for customers then why would you suggest to they take extra steps like getting a gift card to pay their account off instead of updating your system to accept payments via debit cards? Your suggestion completely defeats the purpose of making things easier for your customers and further proves you, in fact, ARE NOT WILLING to bend over backwards for your customers". Any Exec that values and knows their job well would be able to see that and SOLVE IT just based on the number of complaints.

The Kohl's website to pay your bill has not been working for me for months. It keeps putting in information in the password section, that I did not put in. I called Kohl's and was told they are having problems with taking online payments and apologized. I pay all my bills online and this is the only place that I can't access it. I would just like to know when Kohl's is going to fix the problem? I am starting to think it is a Kohl's scam to get you to be late on payments so they can make more.

I pay my Kohl's card online and it always works. You should be more interested in knowing valuable information such as your own bank's routing number. Kohl's cannot take money from just an account number. All you really have to do is call your bank or look at your checks. In fact, I have even googled a routing number when I needed it and my bank was closed.

Also, you can pay at the counter, but you do need to know how much your balance is or at least how much you would like to pay. All the cashier does is have you buy a gift card as a regular purchase for the amount you wish to pay, which is then applied directly to your account.

I have never found it "impossible" to pay Kohl's and I have also never had any complaints about their service in the past two years that I have been a customer and card owner.

I'm with Cultured on this one.
-1st off account information wouldn't be an issue if Kohls wasn't trying to make a killing on everything they sell, over-charging for crap clothing and underpaying employees. I bet the upper management isn't underpaid. All Kohls would have to do is spread some of that money around a little bit and hire employees with background and security clearance. Problem solved on the account information issue.
-Debit/credit cards work exactly the same when it comes to paying bills online. Account number/security code, end of discussion.
-I've paid plenty of credit card bills with credit cards in the past, not saying it was the best option, but it is POSSIBLE.
-CLEARLY STATED- when referring to any credit card application is complete BS, because all of the pertinent information has so small font you need a 100x microscope to read it.

So Kblue_eyes and Chris and all of the other [censor]s on here who have nothing better to do than try to start [censor] on the internet, you're remedial. Maybe you should try experiencing life for yourself before you start telling someone else how to live theirs.

Kohl's my bad experience

My boyfriend proposed to me with a beautiful diamond ring from Kohl's, unfortunately it did not fit so we took it back to get it resized. A few weeks later (when it was ready) we went to pick it up. The ring was missing the diamond and after talking to the manager she said that there was nothing they could do about it and that I could pick out another ring of the same value. I then explained to her that this was the ring he picked for me and the ring that he PROPOSED to me with and that I wanted that exact ring. The manager was very rude and didn't seem to care for there customers feelings. So after all that our only options were to keep the original ring with the missing diamond or pick some thing of the same value. Needless to say I picked out another ring, but I AM PISSED! I will never shop at Kohl's again and warn everyone to not get jewellery resized or anything else of that nature from their.

Kohls is terrible on many counts and and provides false information! I placed an order online on Nov 25th and realized shortly thereafter that the address had exactly one alphabet wrong. By the way, this was an order to help a priest tide over the Christmas season! I called Kohl's to rectify the mistake, the very next day. Although the order had not even begun to be processed, I was told that the order was in process and changes cannot be made, but a cancellation and a new order for the same items was possible. The first order would be refunded once the cancellation went through. I did this. Unfortunately, not only was the original not cancelled, but they charged me for shipping for the second order-which was advertised as free. The "icing on the cake" was that I never received an email with the details of the cost and don't even have a receipt at this point for my second purchase. When I called back to deal with the first order again, I was also informed by Kohl's that I had to call the shipper and inform them of the mistake in the address, and if that was not possible then the addressee should refuse the order and Kohl's would refund me the amount for the first order. Fedex helped me, but UPS could not. I have yet to receive a refund even though the delivery was refused several days ago. I have spoken to at least 10 people, three of whom are managers. These include Nancy, Daniel, Kiara, Gladys, Sharon Hanson, Rita, John and Reed Gradeless. One manager (John) even had the nerve to give me a wrong telephone extension (x73017) and email address (john.var1257@kohls.com). I know this because when I tried calling back, I was told that there was no such extension. The second manager (Sharon Hanson) never returned my call, the third told me that he would cancel the order and would email me back, but never did. I called corporate today (Dec 9th, 2015), who sent me back to the online ordering system! I beyond furious with KOHL'S, and urge those of you with a similar experience to come forward and share your story. Needless to say, I will NEVER shop at Kohl's and will make sure that my friends and family hear about the unacceptable customer service at Kohl's.

I agree with you. My fiance got me a ring for Christamas. It took six weeks to get it returned from being sized, and when we went to get it, there was a deep scratch on the side of it. We were told that they can send it back but that it will be an additional 2 weeks to wait... Unbelievable!

Kohl's late pay

Today I had to call Kohls credit for the third time and I am getting the runaround.

Basically I bought something from them a few months ago and never received a paper bill. I missed two payments. I got it in email form but it was buried in the mass of junkmail I get every week. I never asked for it to be electronic and I cannot seem to get paper statements turned back on.

The first time I called I received an apology and got a credit for the late fees. The customer service person walked me through turning paper bills back on. I thought I was done.

A few weeks later I get a letter saying they can not take the late pays off my credit.

I called back and asked what happened? They said that it must not have been presented correct to the backoffice so they run it through again to get it fixed this time. Also, the customer service person said it is still showing no paper statements... So she walks me through turning paper statements on again.

A few weeks later I get a letter saying they can not take the late pays off my credit.

So I call back in. This time the customer service person says that since they already sent it through twice they probably wont even look at it again. And... I still am not setup to receive paper statements. He accused me of logging into the website and turning them off. I suspect there is a way to check into that.

I'm contacting the credit bureaus but I don't think I will get far. This is awful because it has dropped my credit score below 700 and we are trying to buy a house. Next month… 

I opened a card in November of 2010. I originally started with paper statements and then went to e mail statements which was a mistake. I placed a charge and then like one customer above, the statements went into my junk mail account with my internet provider. I was called after my account was 60 days late. My records with Kohls show no other call to me prior to this time (they did have valid phone numbers for me). When I complained as to why I was not contacted sooner, I was told by a supervisor that it is NOT the policy of Kohl's to call you at the point of your account being 30 days late. WHY? Because they do not want to upset a customer according to the supervisor. I think the why is...they do not mind ruining the credit histories of their clients. I originate home loans each day and I had noticed that many good paying customers often have lates shown on their Kohl's accounts. I now personally understand why. We are living in difficult financial times when 50 points on a score can make or break a customer. I will close this account even if my score drops 120 points.

Totally agree..same thing happened to me. When I call their customer service, they said I had the paper billing turned off. I asked them to switch it on and then again next month no paper billing..What is worse, my score dropped 50 points due to these idiots. I even wrote to them explaining the situation and they sent a response saying "The integrity of the credit reporting system relies on the validity of the information furnished; therefore, we are unable to comply with your request." Integrity..[censor] you. I immediately called them up and canceled the account and after 8 years of using the card, cut it into 20 pieces..I request everyone using Kohls credit card to do the same. They will make money by hook or crook..

The exact same thing happened to me! My credit score dropped 50 points. The funny thing is it went back up 15 points once I cancelled my Kohls Credit Card. I have reported this to the BBB and the Attorney General. I have been notified that they will investigate my case further. I would advise both of you doing the same. This way maybe we can put a stop to the unlawful procedures in place at Kohls. Horrible company with the worst customer service department I have ever experienced.

All this happened when I am just about to buy a house.

Kohl's incompetent employees

I have been a loyal consumer of Kohl's for ten years, both in-store shopping and online orders. Without my knowledge or permission, Kohl's put a fraud alert on my account. I am currently working in Wyoming where there are no Kohl's stores whatsoever. When I tried to place my Christmas order online, as I do each year, I was informed that I can no longer use my card online due to the fraud alert initiated by Kohl's for unknown reasons. I spent hours on multiple calls to customer service to correct this. I had to repeat my account number six times to the employee on the phone, who kept confusing my account number with my phone number. (Perhaps Kohl's should do a drug screen on its employees). The only answer I got, repeatedly, was, "I can't help you." Apparently, my best option is to cut my Kohl's charge card into tiny pieces and shop elsewhere.

Did you consider that someone may have stolen your identity and tried to use a fake card with your name on it at the store? And way to assume someone must be on drugs for being confused. I'm sure you were confused when you found you couldn't use your card online? Were you suddenly on drugs then, too?

Kohl's late fee 25 day billing

I think this is a very unfair practice. It is just another way to get a $29.00 late fee out of millions of customers. They day I called it took a very long time to get through I can imagine how many customers were complaining. My payment was due approx the 9th of each and every month, I pay my bill on line so I do pay around the 5th or 6th ...when I went to pay it was already late and they said it was due on the 3rd... go figure. Needless to say they will be losing me as a customer

My November statement was due 11/21/09. My on-line payment cleared on 11/20/09. On my December statement I was charged a $25 late fee. When I called Kohl's they told me they changed my statement due date to 11/19/09 and I was one day late. Supervisor Peggy, TK82150 told me they can change my statement due date any time they want too and without any notification.

Alot of credit card companies have 25 day billing cycles. This information was given to you when you signed up for the account. This is why it is important to read your credit card agreements.

Did you try calling the credit company and asking them to remove the late fee? They will usually remove it for an honest mistake like yours.

If you don't want to wait for credit customer service to answer your call you can always call from any local Kohl's store. They have a phone in the customer service area that is a direct line to the credit company so that you don't have to wait. Also, the customer service assoicate can call on your behalf if you do not wish to deal with a representative over the phone, they just need your lisence, SSN and Kohl's card.

Did you know that you can also pay your Kohl's card payment at any register in the store? You can even pay right after you use your card so that you don't have to worry about paying the bill later. You can also pay online and even set up payments 45 days in advance on the website.

We really do try to make every effort to make your experience at Kohl's a pleasant one, but we cannot help you if you don't tell us that you are upset.

dont just asume that because your payment is usually the 9th every single month is the same say. for example if your payment for january was february 10 the payment for february might be may 7 because feb has 28 days and your payment is every 25 days. the next payment would be apr 1st etc

Kohl's new 25 day billing period

The new 25 day billing period is deceptive and not customer friendly...just another way to scam more $ in late fees. Fee is $29.00 fee for late payment. If you are on a budget and accustomed to paying multiple bills every month on a set schedule you may want to consider paying off and getting rid of your Kohl's credit card to avoid late payment fees due to Kohl's Credit Card new 25 day billing policy. Your due date changes every month. You really have to watch it closely.

I purchased an item from Kohl's for around $45.00. I did not pay on time and they sent me a bill for late payment plus service charges and interes. Over $35.00. I call this PREDATOR FEES. Now Kohls is calling me many times a
day, I told them I would not pay thier Predataor Fees.
Some times as high as 9 timies or more a day, I am keeping track. I notified them not to call my home because I have a ssick person in my home and i do not want to cause them duress. Can they do this? I have told them MANY times I will not pay the bill. Now they resort to harrassment. What can I do to stop the phone calls. I will not pay the predator fees.

Kohl's working conditions at kohl's dept. stores

Here's the gist of my complaint:

*Kohl's understaffs their stores... 15 people for a 88, 000 Square Ft Building. One... yes one, maintenance guy for the day and one at night.
*When employed, if they want to fire you, they don't... they just remove you off the schedule and give you less and less hours each week. (saves them unemployment $).
*Saftey violations everywhere.
*Aggressive credit card push... every 15-20 minutes over the loud speaker, telling you to open an account. Every morning in a meeting they emphasize credit, credit and credit... nothing about customer service. People are literally pushed in to opening an account.
*Sweatshop conditions... check out the website or cut and paste: http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dfbq37h9_40g2wph3fd&hl=en, to check out the pictures for yourself...

Kohls gets less than 1 star for ethics, honesty and value. If you opened an account, simply call or contact them to close the account like I did. Kohl's Charge Card Customer Service Please direct any questions concerning your Kohl's Charge Card to this toll free number:

closing a card is very hard on your credit score. I tried a few beginner cards like Milestone etc. dropped 50 points for over a year. be careful in closing cards. I'd check with your credit report agencies before everyone just starts closing cards. idk just saying

The way Kohls pushes credit cards its similar to Wells Fargo double account scam or Wolf on Wall Street! Thier one guy in our store opens ten a day really! However they train you lie Would you like open a rewards card were you can save up 75 percent not a credit card. Some seniors thinks its a rewards card like Yes 2 rewards and agree to sign up. They are getting dupe our store mgr gets a bonus and Thanksgiving we get rotten bananas and bagged oatmeal, burritos she had deal with people she took the day off and black Friday of course . No Christmas party or thank you for working during holidays from her she stingy and greedy they promised gift cards for opening two credits then jump three . Finally your told were all out because mgrs signed out and used the gift cards on themselves! The corp exe don't give grease monkey about anything except credit and hire young students easier to control. Your pressure to open credit over the mic, and under hire people cal out everyday. We get ten cents for each credit open solicit credits is crazy dept stores give more money and don't pressure tactiles no selling just credit!

Kohls called me for a interview today for a customer service position and only had 1 available time and day to interview me which i can not make because of my father having surgery on that day. They would not schedule me for another day for their customer service positon. Doesnt seem like family and surgeries matter to Kohls as they cant be flexible enough to interview me any other day. I will not go to Kohls again... ;(

Kohl’s Department Store - Return Policy Trick
I bought a gift set and a wallet on 12/11/2010 from Kohl's at Fresh Meadows, NY. On 12/18/2010, I return these items without opening these items to the store with the original receipt. Kohl's charged me 15% of the merchandise price. I'm shocked about that. There is no return policy displayed on the wall.

Great products and tempting sales, but beware if you need customer service! My first experience in the customer service line was an extended wait because one poor employee was working behind the desk and answering the phones because, ironically, everyone else was running around the store in anticipation of a visit by the corporate staff.

Today's experience involved trying to exchange a defective product. Apparently, if the store is out, the online branch of the store is meaningless. So, although you would like an exchange for the same product that is still available online, it will cost you more if the item is no longer on sale. Apparently, there is an additional penalty if you had the nerve to use a discount coupon for the original purchase!

Sad when companies brag about their customer service when their store personnel are not even equipped to handle simples transactions like this.

kohls is the worst place i have ever worked... they allow their managers to discriminate, to disrespect, to harass, to retaliate, to belittle and treat their employees with little or no dignity and they have have a policy of diversity in place for WHATTTT? they have an integrity hotline in place for what ? for show because i have personally worked in two stores where i myself watched the 01 get the complaints from those hotlines and laugh them off and talk bad about the associates he thought may have placed them! many times i have considered an attorney because...best practices...please...they wouldnt know what that was if someone smacked them with them. these managers laugh at people make fun of people, read peoples personal files from locked cabinets to entire store ( against the law and store policy mind you) do yall think mansell does a thing or integrity does jack ...NOPE.. just made these store areas and managers even more fierce toward us all. ugh, it sickens me

I just now canceled my account among many other unhappy Kohl's customers I've been finding online,

- When I went to pay my bill online, I plugged in my routing number and acct number perfectly and the site said my payment went through.
- a few weeks later I received a bill saying I still owed that amount plus a returned check fee!
- when i called about their mistake, the 2 people in customer service were USELESS and they said that my routing # and the last 4 digits of my acct # they had on file was right and they refuse to pay the returned check fee from the bank. They think it was my bank's fault.

-Even if there was an error in tranferring funds from my bank to their company, they never let me know which is ridiculous. I had plenty of money in my account.
-DO NOT DO ONLINE BILLING WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE!
--NEVER EVER WILL KOHLS GET A PENNY FROM ME EVER AGAIN!

Kohl's a sale item returned

I purchased a kitchen rug on 8 / 12 / 08. The purchase price was $ 19. 99. The sale was buy one get one 50% off. I only purchased one because i only needed one. When i got home the rug was too long for the area that i needed it for, so i returned it on 8 / 15 / 08. I am complaining and upset because my return value was $ 15. 40. I feel that if i purchased something for $19. 99 and i decide to return it, that i should get my full refund!
I love to shop at kohl's. It's my favorite store, but i don't feel as though i should just give the store my hard earned cash !

yeah. if you had your reciept, you would most definitly get back EXACTLY what you paid for it. sounds like you has a coupon you forgot to account for.
or, without a reciept, you would get the lowest sale price in store credit. which is not the store's fault because they have no idea who much you actually paid for it.
so either way, your wrong.

Kohl's credit card

This is the second Kohl's bill in a row I have received with a 25.00 non payment fee and finance charges. The last time I never received the bill in the mail. I know they have my correct address, but I also know the bill never came in the mail. All of my other bills got paid on time that month! This time, I received the bill and mailed payment on the 15th. It was due on the 19th. $25 nonpayment & finance charge because they did not process the payment by the 19th. I beleive it was received by them on time and I am paying because they take a few days to process their payment. I really think they are trying to make money off of people who just accept this fee & don't question their policies. I used to like shopping at Kohl's, but it's not worth the hassle anymore.

Use another card. They take Visa, MC, Amex, and maybe even Discover. Kohl's is usually a nice place to shop. I like that my store is NOT at the mall and I don't have to fight the mall traffic.

Kohl's cards have extremely high interest rates anyway!

Kohl's unethical lending practices

I was a KOHL'S customer for over 4 years and never missed a payment whenever there was a balance in my charge card, in fact I never carried a balance. Back in Dec 2007 we made some purchases and put it on the charge card. For whatever reason we misplaced the bill and consequently missed the minimum payment of 15 dlls. The total balance on the charge card was 85 dlls and some cents. I later summited a payment for the total amount and my charge card was down to 0.00 again. I recently order my credit report beacuse I was denied for a personal loan and the reason was "delinquent payments". I have carried a clean credit record for the last 7 years and my credit score was in the mid's 700's. I was shocked to find out that Kohl's has sent those late payments to my credit report and severely hurt my credit history. I will never buy anything from Kohls again and I will discourage everyone from doing so. I do not belive that someone's credit should be damage by been late on a 15 dlls payment. Consumers be aware that KOHLS can ruin your credit history for 1.00... awful company, ungly lending practices...

I will not rest on giving bad publicity to the estore...

Hello I just went into Kohl’s for the first time just over 2 weeks ago. While checking out at the service desk I was told if I applied for store credit I would receive a considerable amount off my purchase. I was approved. When prompted we swiped our bank card (obviously because the card was to be mailed 7-10 business days). We got the kohl’s card 2 weeks later and decided to check out the after Thanksgiving sales. When we activated the card it had a charge on it! They didn’t have our permission to make a payment using the new card and we paid using our bank account! After talking to a clueless customer service manager, we paid over the mobile app. It said “payment approved and showed a zero balance “. We spent $10 minimal amount to make sure they were trustworthy. I went to pay the $10 and the old bill that said paid was back on our account! I checked everything and tried two more times to pay online. After calling customer service (I’d rather have explosive diarrhea) they talk in circles and ask you if you want to use the khol’s card to pay your Khol’s card balance 🤪 After 30 minutes of the most frustrating conversation with a customer service representative ever, I was told that I have to take a paper check to the store in person and pay my bill that way. They consider a “bank card” as if it were a “credit card “ and you can’t pay with a credit card. Am I the only one in 2022 that stopped paying with checks when they started scanning them and ripping them up and handing them back to you? I’m so done with Khol’s. I still have 12 days to pay the first charge but honestly I don’t trust this crooked business. They are hoping people never discover the first unapproved charge and are at the highest Apr for the life of the card. And I’m certainly not going to put that bunch on autopay. Don’t let those few bargains get you in debt and ruin your good credit. It’s not worth the headache.

This is a global marketplace and we are all busy people. What sets good companies apart from bad ones is that they care about their customers and their brand image enough to avoid making their process difficult which results in basically preying on people who are not perfect in tracking their bills. Most people out there do not keep a spreadsheet for their bills, yet are able to stay on top of most of their bills enough to not get their credit ruined. Responsible companies have learned that a courtesy phone call goes a long way before reporting a low dollar debt to credit agencies. People have gotten accustomed to this norm. When a credit company such as the one Kohl's is using is not following the same norm, instead, institutes a "zero tolerance" attitude in addition to what I would also characterize as blatant abuse (by not sending out paper statements even if one did not sign up for electronic ones), while actually making a profit from doing it in this fashion, now one can make the argument that they are unethical and possibly breaking laws. I personally have 30 years of perfect credit history and Kohl's got me too. They offered a discount at the register as incentive to sign up for their charge card. They never sent a paper bill, or an electronic one. I lost the temporary card they gave me at the register. From that point on it was impossible to sign up or pay the bill. 6 phone calls later they still were unable to locate my account without the account number even though I provided my social security number which I always try to avoid over the phone. Long story short, it was an unnecessarily difficult and draining process, took me many hours to unravel and by the time I was able to pay my debt, they had reported the delinquency to all three credit bureaus. It will not kill me, I still have good credit and I make enough money that I do not need to borrow anything - but I will forever remember the bad experience and will share it with people if it ever comes up. I also will not do business with Kohl's ever again. Do not care that their credit company is a separate entity, as far as I am concerned, it is the same brand experience.

Kohl's have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. My husband got a Kohl's credit card in an attempt to build his credit rating in this country. He immigrated from Australia 9 years ago and has had to build a credit rating by getting credit cards. He made the mistake of getting a Kohls credit card, because after working hard building his credit rating, they reported him 30 days late. This occurred due to their faulty website. While he was overseas for over a month, he attempted to pay his bill, but the website would not let him make a payment. This I might add has occurred on several other occasions, but was easy to fix by just making a phone call. Being overseas, phone calls to America are astronomical, so he decided to just contact then upon his return to the US expecting them to understand that he had no way of making the payment due to their webpage not working. NEVER GET A KOHLS CARD... My husband's credit rating was in the 700 range, but now has sunk down to the low 600's.. Kohl's also lied to him. They agreed over the phone to remove the late report they made to the credit bureau. He spoke to a lady in the corporate department. He was told to wait 48 hours and this would be take care of. They basically lied to him, because after phoning today, they said it would not be taken care of. Is anyone doing a class action law suite, because this needs to happen.

Like many others, I woke up one morning to find a ding on my otherwise perfect credit report put there by Kohls. In my case, I had forgotten about a $15 purchase due in April. In June, I was applying for a car loan and got a surprise courtesy of Equifax.

Kohls systems and processes are inadequate. They issue email statements that go straight to spam. They make sinister robo calls from an undisclosed number. They write … but only when the damage is done. The customer service agents are helpful – but helpless in actually being able to do anything about the punitive damage they have wreaked. Finally – they write again to give you a haughty lecture on the appropriateness of their unilateral decision to inflict permanent damage.

Kohls could use technology to fix this. They have close working relationships with credit reporting agencies. Surely they could use this to see if you have a good credit history and use this to judge the approprriate action that would prevent misery among their customers and loss of revenues at their stores.

Kohls cannot hide behind Chase. If Kohls has outsourced its credit card to Chase, then it has abdicated responsibility for their own reputation to a third party that has no care or concern for Kohls or its customers. That is a foolish mistake.
Bottom line – a Kohls credit card is not worth the risk to your reputation.

Seems like alot of people dont receive their bills. Maybe Kohls has a problem getting them out in hopes of collecting late fees and then punishing people by reporting it to the credit agencies. I also had a problem with not recieving my bills and did contact them and sent money right away. I have always sent more than the minimum and paid on-line when I did not receive. I know several people who say they dont receive their bill. Is this a regular practice! Hummm

Khols reports to credit reporting companies faster and quicker then any other card. They report 30 days as soon as it happens, not like other credit cards. Something is wrong with this company. People that pay their bills and late charges are getting reported too quickly. Khols does not make money off of reporting to agencies, they make money off of customers paying payments, late fees and interest. Khols need to do a reality check on what they are doing. They are loosing customers. I will not shop there nor will my friends and family. I bet you most people who have paid their bill a little late have been reported to credit agencies by Khols and do not even know it.

I too got a 30 day derog for a $5.00 bill! The problem is not the late charges or fees or interest...it is getting a 30 day derog on your credit report. Other credit card companies do not do this! Only Khols reports it real fast. I do not think this is good customer relations. My US Bank credit card does not even report derogs unless it is over 90 days. That is good customer relations. I will keep that card. As for Khols, is will never ever shop there again. I spend alot of money on clothes. They miss out on my money because of reporting a 30 day late on a $5.00 bill. It is the only derog I have ever had too. In 5 years it will drop off and Khols will still not have me as a customer. Smart play for Khols.

I just cancelled my Kohl's account. I made a purchase totaling $69.15, and paid it online. A month later, I get a notice saying the bill hadn't been paid. "Okay, " I thought, "I must have forgotten." I paid a second time, complete with interest and fees. I waited after making the payment, to make sure I received a confirmation screen and the payment went through. Now I get another call saying I'm delinquent in my payments which is "highly unusual for me." #!*$ yeah, because I always pay right away. In two months, my $69.15 bill is now $132.90. I paid it, but will never set foot in a Kohl's store again. Why would I? If anyone else stole $63.75 from me, I'd have nothing more to do with them.

I, too, have recently encountered a similar issue, which started in January 2010. I signed up for paperless billing, and I NEVER received the email alerts that I had a bill with an outstanding balance of $8.54. (I surmise that my email hosting service rejected the email as Spam, or they never sent the bill as they claimed.) I had, however, received a letter in the regular mail stating that I was two months late. I rarely use my Kohl's card, so I was not looking out for a missing bill, either. I called immediately to get this resolved, and the interest and late fee were removed. A few months later, I checked my credit reports, and I was shocked to find that this $8.54 was reflecting negatively on my credit. I have numerous account with Chase, which issued the card, and I have NEVER been late on any of their cards, and always pay my balances in full, including balances in the $thousands that I always pay in full. After numerous calls and letters (not only to Kohl's but also to the credit agencies), I asked to have someone from their credit reporting department call me, since this is ridiculous. It's now two weeks later, and I have yet to receive a call. I am about to apply for a mortgage, and I am not at all happy about this reflecting poorly on my credit. If I had received the bill before it was originally due, I would have paid it! My next stop is to contact Chase and Kohl’s headquarters. Wish me luck!

Interesting. I paid mine in full in November. I'd had quite a balance, so was pleased to pay if off. Three weeks later (this past Saturday), they reviewed my account, decided I am no longer credit-worthy, and cut my credit line by 3/4. I found this out when I tried to use it. I checked my credit/credit score and there is nothing on there that's changed. I have to wait for the letter explaining their decision. (They can't send me an email?) Next payday I will be paying the small balance I have from Christmas shopping and closing the card. It's too bad, b/c I love to shop at Kohl's, but without the card, it's not worth it. However, I'm not willing to play games with the credit card arm of this company. The rest of my Christmas shopping will be completed at other stores.

Kohl's rude employees and unwritten policy!

My wife and I go to Kohl's weekly to shop for clothes for her. She has spent thousands of dollars in this particular store in Hendersonville, TN. Today we went in as usual browsing clothes, and when she had picked out enough we made our way to the fitting room. We are nearly 30 and have been married for 3 years. She has always taken me in with her to comment on how the clothes fit and if she should buy or not. We have never had a problem doing this before, and there are NO signs posted stating that a man is not allowed to go in to the dressing room with his wife to give her opinions on her clothes. The main reason she takes me in is because she wants to save herself the embarrassment of having to walk out and show me in front of everybody if the clothes don't flatter her.

Well today like any other time, we go into the fitting room and she starts to try on the clothes. The only signs that I see on the wall say "5 items or less in the fitting room at one time", and a sign to the effect that the dressing rooms are monitored, so don't try to steal anything. NOTHING about men not being allowed inside the rooms.

Suddenly a terrible bang comes from outside and a woman starts yelling, yes YELLING about how I am NOT allowed in the rooms, that they are for woman only and I need to get out immediately, and how I should be ashamed of myself. I stated I was not aware of that policy and left the room, having to traverse the eyes of the bystanders that heard her outburst, and now think that I've done some 'lude' act in the dressing room with a girl. On top of this, my wife then has to go through the embarrassment of bringing every outfit out to show me, instead of being able to show me in the 'privacy' of the dressing room.

As I stood outside the dressing room, I started to become angry because I realized that NOWHERE did it state that I couldn't go in. It was as if I should magically have had this innate sense of etiquette that tells me that a man is not allowed to accompany his wife anywhere there are other women locked in rooms, whom I can't see trying on clothes. RIDICULOUS.

As the woman walked by I read her nametag. Kathleen. I was very polite to her. I said "Ma'am, I don't understand why I was asked to leave the dressing room?"

She began to make points that didn't add up.

1 - She stated that this fitting area was in the woman's clothing area and was therefore naturally intended for woman ONLY.

My problem with this. the sign says "For your convenience - FITTING ROOM". NOTHING about 'Female only' fitting room, 'Non-Male' fitting room...

I stated that we were a married couple for 3 years and were grown adults of 30 years. We had no intentions of any wrong-doing, and that I thought that she had been extremely rude and obnoxiously loud when we had done nothing wrong.

2 - She stated that it was a store policy and that all customers were required to follow it.

My response...WHERE IS IT WRITTEN? Where is it so that I know that? I would have no problem following a store policy if I know it exists.

Her response was that if I am a grown 30 yr old, I should know better! hmmpf.

So I asked to speak to her manager.

She gets on the phone and no doubt tells the manager her side of the story which I'm sure was twisted in her favor.

The manager comes over (not wearing a nametag; AMAZING) and proceeded to be as rude if not more rude than Kathleen. Stating that I should KNOW that I am not allowed in those dressing rooms.

I told her I wanted to see it in writing. If it is a store policy, than it must be in writing SOMEWHERE.

Her response - I don't have time to show you.

My response - well, we don't have time to buy these $300 worth of clothes.

Her response - I don't really care.

So there you have it...I would say this incident qualifies as discrimination when I am not allowed someplace when there are no signs posted saying I can't enter, especially when I am with my wife.

I will also be sending this to Kohl's headquarters in hopes they will at least take action to make sure this kind of incident doesn't happen again by posting signs and hopefully taking action against the parties involved that were extremely rude and hurtful to me and my wife.

Kohls is VERY unprofessional and make up things as THEY see fit.. I called to get extension on a pick up order and they cancelled it without any notification to me.. (the day I called they said the extension had been put it.. I get email that order was cancelled.. I call only to be told that I would need to place another order.. (ok , fine, so while on the phone I tried to reorder , items say out of stock..) I asked for a manager, area manager, regional manager and was told the store manager is the area and regional manager.. Association then went in to say she will not help me because I’m yelling .. I WAS NOT YELLING, she was looking for an excuse to not assist me due to not having answers for my questions.. I told her I would contact Michelle (who is the CEO) she said fine .,

So I not only list the items but the sale price as well.. All they gave me back was $10 kohls cash that I used toward the purchase.

Oh man I’m so sorry you and your wife had to endure those trolls! Disgusting [censored] behavior on their end and karma got your back you better believe it.

This is my experience How sad is it that I went to Kohl's - Hilliard Rome Rd. to shop for my kids and shop at the other stores nearby and I was followed by a manager the entire time and when it came time to leave I couldn’t find my card I again am still being followed so I show her the contents of my bag which is absolutely nothing other than my phone which fell out right before I went to my car to find my card and I came back in and my phone was missing so was the kohls shopping bag I had and the clothes i intended to purchase and she pretends she didn’t know where it went but it didn’t just grow feet and walk off so I told her I couldn’t get home without it as I’m not from that area I drove an hour to get there using my gps I had zero idea how to get home without it I am crying at this point looking frantically I even got on the ground to make sure it wasn’t on the floor I was in one area before it fell out right by the door before I went to my car to check for my card. This manager had my phone the entire time and offered zero help no phone to use to call for someone to come get me NOTHING and made me leave because it was closing time. She wouldn’t offer help looking for something she had of course SHE KNEW I HAD NO WAY HOME WITHOUT IT SHE DIDNT CARE! I informed her I’m autistic (she already knew) she didn’t care she enjoyed victimizing me like a high school bully. I had to ask a stranger to use their phone. I had to leave my car these for 2 days before I was able to get a ride back to get it and my phone. Kohls lied about where my phone was located by saying multiple places in which we’re not possible for my phone to be and the fact the couldn’t keep their story straight and the camera footage proves she took my phone! I as so scared I was devastated and I am traumatized. Kohls has treated me like a piece of garbage since and the manager has not been punished what so ever not at all! Kohl's sees nothing wrong with anything she did to me and THAT is a huge problem. Kohls corporate legal member has lied so many times about the events that took place on 7/15 and it’s sickening that I as a customer am being treated like literal garbage when I AM THE VICTIM HERE! then called in the other day and a manager that was there the day of 7/15 proceeded to lie and say I stole a cart full and dumped it into my car! I stg I am still in shock. I didn’t even use a cart that day nor did I steal anything I’m appalled and kohls don’t care at all

It's no surprise that most people here are Americans. Such a pu$$y country, no surprise you need big guns. With how many conservative pussies are out there and in here, a fist fight would see a change of hands in power. In literally every other country, including America, if there is no labeling, there's no law. PERIOD. Now, you Karens and Chads go lobby for a change of laws. Oh wait. You won't. You'll just sit there and [censored] on public forums and think that it somehow affects change. I've never seen so many puppets in one place. Simply amazing. Guess what happens in Germany if someone gets caught peeping in a public dressing room. He goes to jail. The same thing happens in America. If the man was clearly with his wife and helping her, then you guys are unreasonable and are akin to a mob. There was no labeling or signage. Yes, common sense should've said "Maybe some people have a problem with this." Last time I checked, there's no law against having no common sense. I wish someone would put their hands on me when I'm with my wife of 31 years, helping her try things on. That is a law. It's called assault. Some of you need to be sterilized.

My husband and I decided to go use some Kohl's cash I had this past Thursday, May 30 at the Jacksonville, FL location. We have a 6 month old daughter who was being extremely clingy & my husband couldn't keep her happy because she just wanted to be with me. Obviously, I couldn't hold my daughter & try on clothes at the same time. I had my husband just come in the large fitting room stall with me to hold her in my sight & keep her happy like we have before. We were talking the whole time, baby was laughing and "talking", people (employees and customers) were in and out, and no one said a word to us. As we were leaving the dressing rooms, baby in tow, an employee named Annette (I believe, it was hard to read because her nametag was mostly covered) yelled at us and asked why my husband was in the fitting room. I told her he was trying to help me with my baby who was being fussy. Her response was "I don't care what he was doing, he could've stood out here with her! A woman ran out of the rooms the other day because there was a man in there!" Ok... not my problem? They all look unisex to me. Would you rather my husband come and sit in the stall with our baby and me to keep her happy, or have her screaming bloody murder outside of the fitting rooms because she can't see me?

There are no signs specifying rooms are for specific gender or a specific gender is not allowed. I asked her if the rooms said somewhere that they were only for women and she just rolled her eyes, grabbed clothes off the return rack and took off putting things back. The other employee that happened to be standing there just let out a chuckle and rolled her eyes while shaking her head, as if this is something the Annette lady does often (overreacts and is rude to customers).

I mean, what if I had a disability and needed my husband's assistance? What if he comes to this location with our daughter once she is older; would he not be allowed to help her in the fitting room?

There are NO policies posted stating any sort of rules for the fitting rooms, not even like a clothing limit. So, I feel her yelling and and response was completely uncalled for. I wanted to just drop everything and not buy stuff but we'd spent countless hours poring over the clearance racks and trying things on, so I decided to go ahead and make the purchase.

Men do not belong in the women's fitting room! I have never heard of such an idiotic idea. How would this guy feel about his 8 yr old daughter going in a fitting room with strange men in there? People today have no common sense! Furthermore, neither does Kohls for for not having appropriate signage. If I go in a woman's fitting room and a man goes in there he is gonna end up on the floor.

I'm a transgender female. I use the women's bathroom and whichever fitting room is closest to the clothes I'm trying on.

If you want to try and put someone on the floor, that's assault and battery. In my case, you'd better be packing because I am and I have no issues defending myself.

I feel that an appropriate thing to do would be to add family or gender neutral fitting rooms and label the others as womens and mens. I just went to kohls to try on bras and as soon as I undressed to try them on there was a loud male voice next to me. It was jarring to say the least. The only male voice I would be comfortable with would be my husbands while I’m undressed. He has waited outside for me in the past to show an outfit but I wouldn’t even have him come in the fitting room. I was assaulted by someone and it’s disturbing to not feel safe in a fitting room. Was the man in there to commit some crime? No, I’m sure he wasn’t. But women deserve to have their safe space. The doors on the rooms aren’t floor to ceiling. They’re open 2-3’ at the bottoms. Needless to say I left with out trying on or purchasing. I’ll shop elsewhere that has gender specific fitting rooms

Just how controlling is this husband to insist on seeing an outfit on his wife before its purchased? Also, how insecure is the wife that she has to have her husbands approval before purchasing an article of clothing? Good Lord, I'd freak out too! What a load of BS! Most guys wouldn't be caught dead being seen walking into or out of a Women's Fitting Room. This wife needs to grow a backbone and hubby needs counseling for his "control" issues.

I don't know how on earth you took any of this away from his post. He doesn't sound controlling at all. It sounds like his wife wants his opinion before purchasing. My husband has great taste in clothing and I always ask what he thinks of something when I'm trying it on. He is the furthest thing from a controlling monster, I just want his opinion.

I am shocked that so many people have a problem a man helping their wives with this situation. I too was recently rudely told to leave a department store underwear section while helping my wife with her selections. My wife and I have been married for 11 years and I have always helped her with her bra shopping. I know all the things about her old bras that she struggled with. I can help her more than a friend or an assistant there at the store. My wife will loose and gain weight over time and needs help fitting into new sizes. So taking a bra home and trying it on would mean that she would have to purchase several bras at once just to travel back to the store and return them. A good bra is expensive and we cannot afford to purchase several of them at a time to take with us. I think that it is a husbands job to always be willing to help his wife with these kind of things. Husbands SHOULD help their wives with these kinds of things. My wife is lucky to have a husband who is comfortable and mature enough to step into situations like that. As a personal rule if there are young women that look under the age of 18 I do not even go into the department. They are not old enough to have experienced men in those areas. They probably have never seen a man in that department at all. So, as a personal rule I stay out of them if that occurs. Otherwise, I will try to be as respectful as possible and stay near my wife and keep my back turned to women who are looking. If the area has a lot of women there I will just kindly leave.
I was helping my wife with a bra fitting in our stall in the fitting room once. This is a closed door fitting room and does not have a three way mirror. Nobody is supposed to step out in a bra because the entire mall would see them if they did. I was rudely asked to leave and then told I had to leave. I was extremely upset and embarrassed. I was escorted and treated like a pervert in the store. My wife was humiliated and really did need my help. I had my 6 and 8 year daughters there and they were embarrassed. I have just as many rights to be there helping my wife as the other shoppers in the store. If they are uncomfortable they can wait. I would have no problem with a wife helping her husband in the next stall next to me if I was in the Men's fitting room. My wife helps me there all the time. I want her opinion, not just my own. Employees and other shoppers can tell if a man is trying to be respectful and mature. There is no reason to post a man or women only sign. I would like it if there were family dressing rooms located in each level of a store and we could walk a little further and have a family area to try on clothes. That would be an easy fix for a lot of these departments.
A lot of the comments talked about thinking about the other shoppers in the area. If it is a closed fitting room with a door then I would not be able to see them change. I am not doing anything wrong by helping my wife. We are not stupid for wanting to help our wives. I think it is immature for someone to not allow men every opportunity to help his wife.
There is a huge difference between restrooms and fitting rooms.

I rounded up my Kohl's payment, which should have left a .53 balance. When I got my next bill I noticed that credit balance wasn't there and checked my previous online statement. Kohl's had simply added a .53 charge to take my extra money! I just called and they'll reverse it, but if this is happening to all cardholders, I'm sure there's others out there who sometimes round up their payment.

I made a payment well over my min. payment at the Kohls store. The next month I was charged a late fee. I called and got everything fixed. After that they called me well over three times a day, even up to eight o'clock at night! I explained multiple times the was no late fee! Finally I lost it on a guy. He told me he would take me off the call list but that it would take ten days to go through! My bill isn't even due for another eight days! The kicker is I have only had the card for two months!

There are many reasons that someone can't pay their bill besides just being irresponsible. Some include: lay off from job, death in family, sick child with cancer, car accident and the list goes on. Honestly, just hope that none of these happen to you cause you will be eating your words. Also, yes, people owe them money but that does not give them the right to harass you.

We had paid our bill but it was posted to the wrong account and even after it was corrected we received daily calls for weeks and it has not stopped. We spoke to 4 different reps who eventually discovered that yes, the problem was resolved. I have cancelled the cards and I will never shop with them again. I have never had such a poor customer experience from any other retailer.

Kohl's has been calling me for weeks and weeks at LEAST 3 times a day (more like 5-7 on average) about my ex-wife's unpaid balance. I've picked up a few times, and each time told them this is not her number anymore. They don't ask for more information, they're not even polite. They just say something like "oh ok" or an insincere-sounding "sorry" then hang up. The calls just keep coming, and they're coming later and later at night. 11:00pm tonight and last night!

Hey, I know Kohl's needs my deadbeat ex to pay up but I'm outright TELLING them THIS IS NOT HER NUMBER yet they keep harassing ME and disturbing MY sleep!

Sorry Kohl's, but you have now lost all my business. (I have a card too, which I've always pay off on time.)

I have never been more bothered by a company in my life! Khols is calling 5 times a day with their auto phone-bot which sometimes never even connects you with their lovely collection department. At first they left excessively long and repetitive voice mails. I am truly surprised a department store would damage their reputation with these insidious irritating phone calls. I consider their never-ending nuisance phone calls harassment. I am afraid they have lost a good customer who simply missed a payment on their first bill.

Kohl's harassment!

At the register at Kohl's? Tempted to get the charge card to receive 10-20% off? DON'T DO IT. You will end up paying more in late charges, and finance charges. I have a strict budgeting procedure with a well organized spreadsheet, and have had nothing but trouble with this Kohl's card. I could write a long diatribe but for the sake of time, trust me, just pay cash or debit or use another reputable credit card. The % off will be charged back to you anyway in these charges. Don't take my word for it, just google "Kohl's card late charge" or read other folks' Kohl's nightmares at:

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/retail/kohls.html

Today I canceled the account, but will need to keep a close eye to ensure it is closed and paid in full. I don't have time to babysit cards like this, and I won't be shopping at Kohl's again.

I signed up for a card and bought some shoes for $39 in Sept. Sent them the $39 in Oct and they sent me a card in the mail which I never activated and put in the trash. I then started getting harassing robo phone calls in Nov from them. I then got a Kohls statement acknowledging the $39 payment but demanding $55 in usuary charges. Contacted them and they could do nothing as their system was down. More robo calls and finally a human called and I was able to give them a dressing down for their usury, harassment and incompetence and get the $55 fees reversed. This pos company needs a serious class action law suit to smarten up and start treating people with the dignity and respect that they deserve. Holier than thou people like you need to mind your own business.

I am a part time employee at Kohls. My boyfriend had lost his job, I wasnt getting any hours at work ...and I couldnt even afford to make rent let alone pay on my credit card. The bills kept racking up and so did the harrassment. I explained my situation and was basically told too bad. I asked them to at least stop calling me because I only had a cell phone and they were using all my minutes that I couldnt afford. I was told that the calls wouldnt stop until my balance was paid in full. So they called 10 to 15 times a day every single day...like the stress of being border line homeless wasnt stressful enough. They were rude and very disrespectful to the point that I didnt even want anything to to with Kohls what so ever. They called my job even after i had asked them not to on many occasions. They finally said the only way to stop the calls was for them to send my bill to collections. I tossed my hands up..."Then by God, Get it over with!"...It has been 3 months with no calls and we are starting just now to get our things together. Making up back rent...you know, the imediate important things. Just 3 days ago the calls have started back up again. Only this tim every time I answer and confirm that it is me that they are speaking to...they hang up on me. WOOOOW...are you kidding?

You people make it so hard for yourself. Use the damn card as a "discount card." You use it, save 15, 20, or 30% off and right after you finish pay it off with cash or check. Kohls I think is actually the only retail company that lets you make a payment on your charge card right away, that way your never late and you save. In reality its a win win with the % off.

There is always a line up at the Service Desk and the practice you cite just delays cashing out which is a lose lose for all concerned. Kohl's uses the age old honey trap to suck in the unsuspecting and then employs harassment to try and extort their usury fees. I have now dumped them twice for usury charges on insignificant amounts. No problem with them going after people who owe them reasonable amounts but their systems are set up to go after people who owe them 5 cents (or in my case nothing at all).

Don't feel offended that we ask if you want to apply for a Kohls charge card. It is a requirement to ask every customer that we check out. You only have to pay 1/3 of your bill...mk for me I only put 5 dollars on the card every month. Just five dollars! I don't get charge anything other then what I put on the card myself. What card company makes you pay such low payments? Don't shame us because we ask or charge a fee for late payments.

I to am a victim of Kohls scam and while some people may only have a few bills and can notice that they didn't receive their first bill in four weeks, the rest of us have many bills that we pay as they come in and wouldn't notice if a bill that has never came in before was late or not. Not to mention that it is Kohls responsibility to send out credit statements (bills) to their customers and not every customers responsibility to make sure that they receive their statement (especially new credit accounts).
It was 5 1/2 weeks before I noticed the bill hadn't arrived. Not only did the bill never arrive but customer service gave me the run a round when I called and tried to find out what I needed to do to pay my bill that they still hadn't sent me. They said my bill would be sent out but it still never arrived and by the time I called them again they had already turned into their collection agency (that they own) and I found out that my $60 in charge was now $148!
Kohls changed my address from the one I entered on the credit application to one on my credit report. Not only that but they never called my phone until they had already closed my credit account and sent my case to their collection agency (that they own). That means they never bothered to resolve the issue until they had already tacked on $88 in bogus fees, closed my account and put the information on my credit report. I agreed to pay my bill if they would remove the erroneous information from my credit report. They refused to do so and to this day I haven't paid them one cent. Who is running this company? It is almost as though they hired a ### to do their data entry and instead of holding that person responsible for this obviously repeated unnoticed mistake, they continue to allow this person to work at their company. It's either that or they are doing this on purpose for some unknown reason to the public. I can't figure out how they would benefit from doing this on purpose unless they need tax write offs or something and even that doesn't make real good sense. Go figure. All I can say is if you are thinking of applying for a Kohls card DON"T, because this can happen to you.

Kohl's credit card fraud!

I bought some stuff from Kohl's in March of 2007. I paid all but $22.00. I never got a remaining statement for the $22.00. Kohl's claims they sent it "numerous times" and one representative told me that they were returned. The address they say they sent them to was a P.O. Box that I had all my mail forwarded to when I moved from Colorado to Iowa. Another Kohl's representative told me today that they did NOT get any of the statements returned. The P.O. Box still exists as my daughter is using it as her mailbox. She has NEVER received one statement from Kohl's. She is an accountant and would not ignore this. I get a notice in the mail yesterday that I owe them $181.00 in late fees and finance charges for the $22.00 I owed them, and this has been turned over to a collection agency. I had sent them $150.00 in March and another $50.00 in April. Do they really think that I was trying to avoid a $22.00 bill? When I called to discuss this, they refused to listen or consider what I was saying. THE MANAGER DIANE REFUSED TO RETURN MY CALL. It's funny that they couldn't find me 7 months ago (with an active P.O. Box), yet now that they have ran up the finance fees, etc. they "found" me. Huh, funny how that works. It's pretty hard to pay a bill that you don't even know you owe! If I owe you $22.00 just tell me and I'll pay the bill. Now I have a bad debt entry on an absolutely SPOTLESS credit history because of these idiots. SO... MY KOHL's CARD IS GONE and that's the last I will ever set foot inside of their stores. I hope you will too. Or, at least be very careful, as it seems to me that they just wait until someone misses a payment, then BANG you go on the "we stop sending statements list" so we can run up these charges and send it to collections without you even knowing...

Kohl's customer service representatives will run your credit card application even if you tell them you will be declined. How do I know? I was declined the first time for having great credit, thousands in savings, but no present income (returned back to college at a later age in life). The application was made - then I had to wait and hold up the line. Well, the credit co. called the CSR right then and there - she said, "just tell me what me what you used to make - they just need a number." She just wanted the credit for putting an app. through.

Same thing happened to me today. I told the CSR I will be denied because I HAVE NO INCOME! She wanted me to apply anyway so I could receive 10% off (not even worth the ding on my credit report) and get herself credit for putting an app. through. This is very, very, very shady.

I recently recieved a late statement saying my account was past due. The problem? I didn't even know I had a balance to begin with, now they have reported me to a credit bureau. The 'late fees' are way more that what was supposedly my original bill amount. They said they had been emailing my bill to me, I KNOW I never recieved these emails, All I can say, is STAY AWAY FROM KOHL'S CREDIT CARD!

Kohl's credit card scam

We used to shop at Kohl's regularly, especially for school clothes and Christmas shopping. They WERE my favorite store. Last year, at the checkout they had a promotion to apply for a Kohl's credit card and receive 10% off on the spot. We do not typically have any store credit cards, have excellent credit and pay for everything with a debit card, which comes directly out of our checking account. So, we applied for the credit card merely to receive the discount, with the intention of paying it in full as soon as the first bill arrived. We never receive that bill until months later, even after wading through their very confusing electronic voice answering system on two occasions, explaining that we are not going to pay a bill with no receipt. These people expected me to rattle off my credit card numbers over the phone with no bill. I reviewed our mailing address and explained that we would be paying the charge in full as soon as the bill came, but would not pay any late fees, as I had provided the correct address when I applied for the card. We finally got the bill, paid the original amount, but not the late fees. Kohl's marketing department has been harassing us ever since, calling our phones 12 times a day. We are still not going to pay the late fees, which have since accumulated, as they have added additional charges. Be warned, if you deal with Kohl's they will rip you off and harass you to death.

If anyone can suggest any recoursive action we can take, please post a reply.

I signed up for paperless billing, kept waiting to receive my bill in the email, but didn't receive one. I thought that this was not right because enough time had passed already, so I went to check on it online, found my bill and that a late fee was charged. I called the customer service, explained the situation. I'm not sure if it was because my due date was the day before I called them, but she told me that I would get a refund on the late fee. I was relieved. Right away, I changed my preference to paper billing 'cause I didn't want to miss my payment again. It infuriated me that their system charged me a late fee while it failed to send me a bill.

I have been a Kohls credit card member for over 15 years and recently had a nightmare issue that lowered my credit score by over 70 points! Years ago I enrolled in paperless billing and every month I would get an email of my electronic statement of my monthly bill and I would pay it on time every time. However, Kohls no longer sends me emails of my monthly bills and since I don't get paper bills, I was unaware I had an outstanding balance. As a result, Kohls reported me to credit bureaus as delinquent without ever contacting me. No phone calls, no emails, no carrier pigeons... nothing. When I called to resolve this and pay my bill, I was told that Kohls will look into this. All I got was a letter from them stating that I was in fact delinquent, so they would not refund my late charges nor intercede with the credit bureaus. I went to pay my bill this month, but again, I never got one. When I called Customer Service, they informed me that Kohls can no longer include your statement balance in an email. You must go through a different site to find your balance. The problem is, they never told anyone... They just waited for us to default on bills we never received and raked in the late fee profits and ruined my credit. I finally decided to go back to paper billing (sorry rainforest... I tried). At least I will know how much I owe each month and not have to guess at my debt. I did that his month and over paid my bill by about $70. Now today, my wife, who also has paperless billing, received her delinquency notice from Kohls without receiving any bill. She is done with Kohls forever. You would think that our 30 years of combined on time payments would earn us the courtesy of some form of contact from the company before they destroy our credit ratings!

I had the exact experience. With one difference.I was charged twice.Once at checkout. When I too used my debit card. To pay for my purchase. Then months later I received the card..They charged the card before I used it.When I contacted them. They had no record of that purchase on my debit card .It appeared as if I walked out of the store paying nothing. My bank had no record of the transaction. So the late fees accumulated. As I refused to pay them any more money.A seventy two dollar purchase I paid for at checkout that day .Has morphed into a three hundred fifty seven dollar charge. That they have sent to collection. I've tried every way to resolve this. With noone listening.

They make it sooooo difficult to pay your card off. If you do autopay, you have to do the minimum amount or the full balance. There is no option to customize the amount. Then, if you make an additional payment they adjust your autopay so nothing cones out. So basically they don't want you paying off your card. No other card is this difficult to pay!

I am a consumer and I LOVE my local Kohl's store and have never had a problem with their telephone customer support. I have never heard them tell me 'no' and they never give me any hassle either. I did deliberately sign up for their credit protection program (it is less than $2 for every $100 of your bill each month) so for me it was worth it. When I became disabled because of cancer and they paid my almost $1, 000 bill in full with no hassle, it was worth every penny. It just took a few minutes on the phone, a little paperwork, and about two weeks. We shop for my entire family there. I even got a 'painting' there for my bedroom that I fell in love with that was priced at $110 for $54 after taxes simply because it was the last one they had and I asked the manager for a good price. I explained the sale price I had seen previously but did not have the funds to make the purchase at the moment and that it had gone off sale when I came back. The manager was very understanding, was familiar with my business in the store, and immediately walked me over to the cashier and approved the transaction. Be responsible, people. If you sign up for a card, when you get home, call and get your account number and sign up immediately for onliine statements, then you don't have to worry about someone in data entry miskeying your information. It only takes a moment. I have never missed a credit card payment because I have always received email alerts, even on new accounts, because I was proactive. This is not 1980. Read what you are signing on that little pen pad, pay your bills, and everything would be fine. Also, if you're signing up for the card just to get the discount, you can immediately walk over to customer service and immediately pay the balance off in full. I know this because I did this the day I got my card. You can also do this every time you use your card to get your 15% off. Just as a heads up, though, you only have to pay for part of the purchase with your card to use the coupon. Put $5 on the Kohl's card, use the coupon, pay the rest with cash or however you please.

I paid them 5 days before the due b/c i AM the type of person to pay early and always have more than enough in my account to cover anything.

They reversed my payment without any notification! It is now 4 days later (1 day after the due date) and they charged me $30 for a late fee when i did make the payment?! They just decided to reverse it out of nowhere?!

To all Kholes employees posting on here, if you knew ANYTHING about customer service (which i'd imagine you don't due to your tone). Get off your high horse and realize that some of these people are completely good intentioned, have to money to pay you crooks, and just end up getting screwed somehow, someway by the company you work for looking to make some extra money... interesting that they "mess up" so many addresses, don't notify if your payment got declined but they will email you that it got accepted?

Not to mention being bullied into signing up for a card. I told that lady no 4 times, i told her credit cards are trouble, she insisted then insisted some more and more so i finally said yes and went online the next to pay it and low and behold they found a way to trick someone who was trying to pay early.

ridiculous.

I have a Kolh's account that I can't seem to pay. I take payment into the store and they credit my wifes account which has a zero balance and then charge me a late fee. Imagine that. I call the "Can do butt nugget" on the other end and get jerked around for 30 minutes because he/she had a bad 8 hr shift? I own a business and I would be out of business if I treated people this way. I am not late and have a great credit score except for the "can do's" at Kohl's. Bad shift are you kidding me. Maybe that's why you are only part time. You couldn't work for me and treat people like this.

I work at Kohls as of right now. There really is no "scam" reguarding the Kohl's card. Honestly, we are FORCED to pressure customers into applying for it because it's our job to. I on the other hand rarely do that because I dislike when I'm asked to apply for one. IF you are overcharged or are charged a late fee on your bill, DO NOT come stomping into a Kohl's department store to customer service demanding we remove the late fee or ask why we put the late fee. ITS NOT US! THAT'S CORPORATE KOHLS. It's ridiculous how many customers come in upset that I can't explain to them about their late fee, WE DO understand you're upset and have sympathy towards concerns. However, don't get pushed out of shape because YOU have to call about the card. Take advantage that we have the "yes we can policy", but don't push it. It's amazing how many customers will come in, and say they forgot their "25"% off coupon they received. Then customers become upset when I let them know that NO there is no coupon for that amount and we never have extra coupons. 1-We don't (In EASTLAKE, CA) have those coupons and if we did it is never that percent. 2-Ask nicely, and tell us you will use your Kohl's card and we will be happy to honor it for you.

Advice when you do shop at the store:
1. If we ask to see your identification card along with your credit card do not hassle us, it's for your protection, there has been numerous times that a customer will throw a fit saying they don't want to show it to us because it's their personal information. DUMB DUMB DUMB.
2. Don't ask if we have extra coupons, because we don't.
3. Don't hand us your card and ask whats your minimum payment because we don't have access to your account.
4. Give us any coupon you have at the beginning of the transaction, because once we've rung you up and you've paid, coming back saying oh I forgot my coupon, guess what we manually have to return all the items then ring them back up again to apply it.
5. WHEN STANDING IN LINE, seriously be ready with your wallet. It's quite annoying when a customer decides to look for all coupons/credit/debit/cash at the end. We don't mind waiting, but you should have been ready to check out.
6. Decide before hand what you want to purchase, don't come to the check-out and spend those extra minutes pondering if you like the item because it backs up the line when were trying to ring you up and it's a tiny bit annoying when your being indecisive.
7. BE courteous when you decide you don't want an item anymore. Don't just throw it in an aisle, or leave a shirt hanging in the shoe department, it's tacky, it's messy and you wonder why you're complaining about the messy HOME department you shopped through today, we clean our mess, you should too. If you don't want something hand it to an associate so the store doesn't become a mess.

I am not a regular Kohl's customer. Just to be clear from the start.

I happened to notice on the front cover of a recent Christmas advertisement that Kohl's was offering a portable television set for $69.99 after redemption of $20 Visa prepaid card by mail. So I think that the TV normally sells for $89.99.

Underneath in smaller print, but large enough to read it says that the TV is on sale for $89.99 and it is regularly $199.99
It is a 7 inch LCD TV with built in rechargeable batteries digital television.

Then below that marked with an asterisk it says, "Mail-in Reward Visa Prepaid Cards are issued by MetaBank pursuant to a license from Visa U.S.A., Inc These cards do not have cash value and can be used at any merchants that accept Visa debit cards. Cards valid through the expiration date shown on the front of the card." ( What does this really mean? It is confusing.)

I searched Kohl's website. They say they are a family valued organization. Another section for investors talks about getting part of the "market share" This wording drew my attention since we are in an economic downturn and I see that the Meta Bank prepaid debit card is being promoted on the front page of the Kohl's 2 day specials advertisement booklet. Organizations might be tempted to take risks that they otherwise may not have in the past; I don't know.

Meta Bank was involved in a $4 Billion dollar lawsuit for fraud this past summer. The people with Meta Bank who should have been overseeing their employees practices pushed all the blame on one person within the bank. The hiring practices of Meta Bank look for people who are willing to work in a fast paced and ever-changing work environment. No where does it say they are looking for honest people with good customer rapport.

I cannot recommend Meta Bank to anyone. Please be advised not to use Meta Bank's services.

When I saw this advertisement, I went to our local Kohl's store. I wanted to speak with someone in customer service or the manager. What appeared to be the service department was the returns line and that was too long. I did not know how to find the manager. Clerks were few and far between. It is the Christmas shopping season. I did finally find one clerk who told me that the rebate offer is being made by the television people and that it has nothing to do with Kohl's and yet Kohl's is offering this on their front page advertisement. Meta Bank has used other long standing well known and reputable entities in the past to get their foot in the door to get access to their customers.

I would like to warn both customers and Kohl's Department Store that Meta Bank tends to use a third party to push their bank. Customers would be far better off by using a local bank to get their credit or debit cards. Customers should deal only with local banks. Kohl's should look very carefully into the history of Meta Bank; it is all on line if you are willing to spend some time doing research. I don't think that Meta Bank will help Kohl's in any way with developing good customer relations. This kind of relationship will not be good for Kohl's in regard to long term growth. Please understand that I am trying to be a friend here. Meta Bank could ruin Kohl's reputation. I personally would have nothing to do with Meta Bank or anything or anyone affiliated with Meta Bank.

If customers feel that they have been grossly mistreated by a banking institution, such as Meta Bank (the name Meta Bank may be in small print on the back of your Visa Card) if enough of you write to your state Attorney General's office, these practices can be stopped in your state.

National banking entities can be stopped from practices that are unsavory if all of you would write a letter explaining what happened to you to:
Office of Thrift Supervision
Department of the Treasury
Consumer Affairs Division
1700 G Street, NW
Washington, DC 20552

Collectively, if we all write one letter just to explain what happened, change for the good can happen so that what happened to us will not be able to happen to another person. If some people had only written in sooner, perhaps we would not have experienced what we did. Please look at your card, if it says Meta Bank on it anywhere, a complaint has already been filed.

I wrote my letter. One letter is just a start. The organizations that are in place to help us need to see the big picture and to be able to see the big picture they will need to hear from anyone and everyone who has been hurt by Meta Bank's practices and customer service. Please write to the Attorney General's Office in your state and to the address above in Washington, DC

Kohl's extremely rude customer service

I was in my neighborhood Kohls this evening to purchase a leather coat and dress shirt. I brought the items to the register and they were rung up. The purchase was for $190. I gave the clerk a Visa gift card that had $23 credit left on it. She swiped the card removing the credit, and I proceeded to use a debit card to pay the remainder. She then said that I cannot do that and she voided out the order. Then she made a couple phone calls on how to give me back my credit. She then got off the phone and told me that I would have to wait 2 weeks for the credit to be put back on my Gift Card. I asked why this was since I was not the one who made the mistake and I should not have to wait. I asked her why she could not just give me store credit and use it toward the purchase since they have the credit from my card. She said she could not do it. I said that I now have a Gift Card that I cannot use because of her mistake. I called for a manager to discuss the situation. The person in charge, Chantal, was extremely rude and totally unsympathetic to the situation that they had put me in. She approached me and rudely asked "what's your question" like I was putting her out. This was after I waited for 5 minutes for her to show up. I put my hand up when I started to speak and she immediately quipped for me to put my hand down. I started to speak and she told me to be quiet so she could explain the situation, after SHE had asked me what the situation was. I just wanted my credit back that they had taken so I could be on my way. She was totally unhelpful, and several times smirked and laughed when I was talking to her.

So I have a gift card that I cannot use for 2 weeks because of their incompetence. I know I cannot do anything, but the least I could have gotten was an apology, which I guess Chantal feels was not necessary. Sorry to have made her do her job.

I like the way the Kohl's employees are defending Kohl's and that's exactly why the customer service sucks at Kohl's. I have interacted with Kohl's customer service multiple times and they always blame the customer. It's very simple - we have no control over what's happening here, so you are dumb, and as you are dumb, I do not need to respect you. Nobody is asking you to be polite or sympathetic, just do your damn job, no comments, no smirks, and don't be rude. Employees really have the least stake, they are basically dealing with customer's money and Kohl's reputation, by being rude they are not doing justice to either.

Its not really Kohl's fault at all its the way those ### 3rd party gift cards work. They fixed the software at kohls pos now but it used to only allow one debit card. So im assuming you swiped it without telling the customer it was a credit gift card that only would cover part of the balance. The associates that work there know a way around this by putting your card on a kohls gift card and then using it to do a split tender with your regular debit. Kohls wasn't holding your money btw, the transaction got voided (which we are never supposed to do with a 3rd party gift card, her mistake) but the money being lost for 2 weeks is just sitting in limbo waiting to be put back on your card. That amount of time you have to wait is something to do with that credit card company reloading your card after a voided sale. Think a little about your situation and dont blame kohls or the cashier (she did make a small mistake in voiding the sale) for everything that happened.

I work at kohls. That manager sounds very untypical for a kohl's store manager. I bet she's the one that nobody there likes, anywho...

At the time our registers could only handle one credit card swipe per transaction, and most of the time the customer doesn't warn us that it's a credit card and we get stuck in an awkward situation.

Taking 2 weeks for the credit to go back onto the card is an issue with the credit card company though. I've spoken with them on the phone and they know it's a very flawed system, but say that there is no way to really improve it. So they know they're selling faulty products, but don't really care because they're making money.

Kendadie's comment is correct though. Kohl's decided to make their own solution to the credit card company's problems and we can now accept multiple credit card swipes per transaction.

The procedure of combined payments for PURCHASES have changed. It is now possible to pay with a gift card and debit/credit/cash/check. Visa/Amex gift cards were a nightmare as a form of payment. The only thing not accepted are gift cards/KMRC for payments towards Kohl's credit cards. This is something changed by Corporate. Please complain to them not customer service. I am as polite as I can be in explaining this, we have no control over what corporate decides.

I work at kohls and let me say i hate Visa and American express gift cards. I had customers go completed crazy when i told them that they couldn't use a Amex or Visa gift card with there regular credit card, this is before i even ring the purchase up so that they know. I then nicely explain that i can put there Gift card amount on to one of our gift cards but no they don't want that they scream and insist on using it. untill the manger has to come and explain that our machines take the gift card as a credit card and its nothing we can really do about it. So i am sorry that happened to you and you should have not been treated that way.

I work at Kohl's. I am sorry you had to go through that. Your gift card came up as a credit/debit and you attempted to pay with another credit/debit card and this is not allowed at Kohl's. However, you should not have to wait. The cashier could have put the difference of the balance on a separate gift card that she could have dragged from the counter and have paid off the purchase smoothly. There was no need to wait. I've seen customers pay like this a lot of times.

The manager in this situation should have been reprimanded.
The customer in this situation should have received a $100 complimentary gift card on top of his remaining $23.00. There is no reason what so ever on why the debit card could not also be used for the transaction. Kohls at the very least should be paying interest on the $23 that they "borrowed" from the customer for 2 weeks. Perhaps at 300% interest rate. MONEY IS MONEY.

This is exactly what is the matter with Modern Retail. I would expect that Kohls will fall victum to Bankrupty in years to come with thier arregant overly dressed managers, and extremely high prices. I never go there. You get a much better deal down the road at your local WALMART. Spend your money wisely and stay away from Kohls.

Kohl's refund policy

I had bought a few items for my son at Christmas. The item size where marked wrong. I did not have the receipt and I took them back. Only to find out that I was not given a store credit but a refund. Yes a refund of $5.00 from $36.00. The store manager told me I was refund the clearance price that was in the computer. Well I did not buy them on sale or clearancre and if that was what was in the computer then where is the item in the store that I could exchange them for the right size. After all they had made them from on the tag. I will not shop there again And plan on sending there credit card back to the in pieces. I also plan on posting this on every site I can and email the corporate office.

I recieved a $10.00 rebate check from KOHLs for a toaster oven I purchased. At the time i bought the oven, I asked if the rebate was for merchandise only, or if it was cash. Customer Service told me it would be a check for cash. When I recieved the check, i took it to KHOLs to apply it to my bill. I was told they could not accept their, I had to take it to the bank, cash it and then bring the cash back to apply it to my bill. I scares me to think KHOLs won't accept their own check, make me go through all kinds of nonsense to cash it. NO MORE REBATE CHECKS FROM KHOL' FOR ME

I'm not really sure why you expected Kohls to refund the full retail price when you did not have the reciept. Almost any retail store you shop at has this same policy, if you return an item without the reciept you can exchange it or get a refund of the lowest sale price. If this wasnt the policy people could buy products for the explicit purpose of scamming the store out of money.

Kohl's warning! return policy & gift cards

Kohl's does not care about their customers! All they care about is the dollar and how they're going to keep it and their return policy proves it! It is NOT customer friendly AND their gift receipt is not worth the paper it is printed on! They are doing nothing but lying to their customers making them think that the people they give their gift to can bring the gift receipt back with the item purchased and it will work the same as the original receipt! In other words, leading them to believe they will get their money back and getting a gift card is not getting your money back! That is nothing but a lie or is that the way they treat their customers with their original receipt? I received a gift for Christmas with the gift receipt included that had been purchased from Kohl’s. I had to take it back, Dec. 26th, to the Gainesville, GA store located on Dawsonville Hwy. When I presented the item with the gift receipt, I was told they could not give me my money back. Instead, I had to take a gift card. This made me MAD and I’m still MAD today and I’m going to make sure everybody knows about it! I was NOT given a choice between a gift card or money. The decision was made by someone who doesn’t care if they have satisfied customers! I talked with the manager and I asked him what if I couldn’t find anything to purchase with that card and it didn’t matter. He told me he couldn’t override the gift card because it was store policy. In other words, I was stuck with it. I had to take it or do without. He also mentioned something about if my gift had been charged on a charge card, then they couldn’t give me my money back either. I don’t know if it was or not but even if it had been, why were they punishing me? Why couldn’t they still give me my money back and keep the charges on the buyer's card and bill them as they would if I hadn’t returned it? Their stores don’t carry that much of a variety and nothing I’m interested in. If I had wanted clothes, I would still be trying to find them today because of the way they are displayed at this store. So many items are separated by size NOT style and the styles are all mixed up. For example, one rack is all Large and may have hundreds of styles all mixed up together. We have to go through each item before we can tell if there is anything there we like or not. I have talked with several people and they don’t look at those items either for the same reason. It would take forever before we would even know if there was anything there that we liked or not. Also, I am not a jewelry person but I finally had to settle on some just so I could get finished with their store once and for all and stay out of there! In other words, I had to settle for something I didn’t want but it doesn’t matter to them! I feel as if I didn’t get a gift from my daughter because of Kohl's mess! They got their money that’s all they care about and then making sure the money spent on the gift stays in their store! They force people that have returned items to shop in their store and that is not right! Apparently, future customers don’t matter to them and at this rate, they will have less and less! If they did what was right, they would have given me my money back and let me decide where I wanted to spend it instead of forcing me to purchase something I didn’t want or need but this proves they don’t believe in treating their customers right!

What an idiot! Every store does that. No one gives cash back unless YOU paid cash/debit/check yourself. Gift receipts do not qualify you to get cash. Maybe she should have yelled at her friend who cared enough to get her a gift in the first place. Some people...

A key problem with Kohl's gift card policy is that if you purchased an item where you combined your gift card value with your Kohl's credit card to make the purchase (such as $50 gift card and $15 Kohl's credit card for a total of $65), and then you return the $65 item, you'll get a store credit for the $65 purchase, but still be forced to pay for the $15 portion of the purchase that you put on your Kohl's charge.

That's exactly what happened today. Even though I've returned the item with the receipt, and received a store credit that I haven't used yet, I still had to pay for the portion of the item that was put on my Kohl's charge, even though I returned the item.

In addition, when Kohl's sends out mailers saying "use your Kohl's charge and save up to 30%, " you can't use your store credit with the savings mailer. Kohl's says this is just for credit card purchases. So, another month I had an $85 bill for a purchase with 30% off from the store mailer, while at the same time, I had a $71 store credit that I wasn't allowed to use if I wanted to save the 30%. I paid them $85 for my Kohl's charge bill in the same month that I had the $71 store credit.

I plan to use the $57 that I have in store credits and then never shop at Kohl's again!

I returned an over 200.00 item to kohls giving to me by my late Mother In Law. I did not want to ask her for the receipt because I was afraid that she would be upset because I was returning the item for something else. She lived out of the country at the time and I was sure she would not notice that I did not have it when she returned to visit. I could not just exchange the item, Kohls made me get a corporate refund and said that I would receive the refund in the mail in 7 days. I felt funny leaving my merchandise there with no refund, but I did. After 7 days and no refund I called Kohls to find out why. I was told unless I could furnish a receipt, that I may not get a refund and pretty much accused me of stealing the items. I called Kohls several times and told them that I do not have the receipt. I asked to talk to manager after manager. I told them that I was going to call the police because they were the one ripping me off. They had no proof that I stole the items. Finally a manager agreed to send me the refund on a Kohls merchandise credit card. A month later I received the credit. I was in tears thru all of this. I should have sued!
Now every time I go to Kohls in my area they follow me around. What is wrong with them? Good Grief.

I was told by a manager if you pay with cash or debit card and you have the original receipt you get cash back, everything else is KMRC or better known as Merchandise Credit. If you don't' like Kohls you should have told your daughter this ahead of time therefore you wouldn't be in this situation. Your money? Its your daughters money.
If she paid with a Credit card and gave you the original receipt you still would get back KMRC.

I agree with Dozer. people would be running scams
this is a good thing for parents or people who have relatives on Drugs they can't get cash back.

I completely disagree with this complaint. You just sound like someone whose complaining for the sake of complaining. This is standard retail policy which can't be changed on a store level. Irrational and irate people like you need to think for a minute rather than constantly trying to make those around you suffer because you didn't get your way. In short, GET OVER IT!
