JPMorgan Chase these people are mean!

Chase Card Member Services
PO BOX 15548
Wilmington, DE [protected]

CONSUMER BEWARE: When you get E-mails from Chase, they have the appearance of mortgage refinance advertisement, not like some of the other card companies that make you clearly aware that you are getting a billing statement. If you sign up to get a bill online, they stop your mailed bill altogether without making this clear to the card holder. Unlike my other credit cards, when I signed up for an online bill, I still got my mailed bill, not with Chase. I called Chase a couple of weeks ago to check the rates to see what card I should use on a purchase, this is when they informed me I was 55 days late. I was shocked. They told me to go to the website and make a payment as soon as possible. By this time, I was quite upset, because my credit rating is one of the most important things to me. I went to the website, registered. Making the payment was confusing, it had the appearance that I was making the minimum amount for the total owned now, but when I pushed the button to make a payment, it took a payment from my checking account for the entire card balance. I had to do a stop payment through my bank. By the time that all got turned around I ended up being 60 days late. Chase would not under any circumstances, reverse any of the fees or help me in anyway whatsoever. I even ended up paying the card off in full after the stop payment went through. They still did not care. I have now closed this card completely. I still have one business Chase card to go, which I plan to eliminate as soon as possible. Having the two Chase credit cards is what made the second get overlooked. This could happen to anyone really. After starting with a 0% balance transfer, no fees, on $6000, they ended up charging my $600 in late fees, finance charges, or whatever they call it. I only had this "new" card for 10 months, the most expensive card I have ever used. My other credit card companies have warned me (when a payment fell between the seats in the car), gave me a friendly call or email or something before I had a 30 DAY LATE on my credit report, let alone a 60 day late, which is what I shamefully carry today on my credit report. These people are mean! No forgiveness at all. Hope this can help another nice, law abiding citizen trying to make it in life.

JPMorgan Chase Rude reps refused to resolve a late fee

After reading other Chase Credit Card complaints, I am glad I'm not alone, but at the same time, it's sad that Chase has not woken up to their horrible customer service. I'm going to get out of my credit card as soon as I can use or transfer my airline miles.

The poor customer service started in December when I was trying to fix a problem that seemed to lie with my Chase Credit Card online management service. The representative I was speaking with gave me huge attitude and kept telling me something had to be the way it was. I specifically asked if this would cause any problems in the future, and he assured me that it wouldn't.

It is now January, and a similar problem occurred.

I called their Personal Credit Cards for Online Account Management line at [protected] to dispute a late fee that seemed to be a result of a change on their website, which prevented access to my account. After an hour on the phone talking to five different people, I supposedly got the late fee waived. (I explain the "supposedly" later in this complaint.)

Representative #1
The first person I spoke with was ridiculously rude. She kept repeating, "There is nothing I can do about that ma'am" without valid reason as to why. She finally transferred me to someone in online banking.

Representative #2
This man was very friendly but did not help me solve the issue for which I called. He said he needed to correct my birth date and mother's maiden name because they were either incorrect or out of date (?!?!). He three-way called someone with the authority to change that information on my account.

Representative #3
This man was also very friendly and simply did his job: update my date of birth and verify some other information. I asked why he needed to do this all of a sudden, and he said he didn't know the answer to that. All he knew was that the information in the database was wrong. Representative #2 then transferred me to someone in the credit card department to deal with the late fee.

Representative #4
This woman is the worst customer service representative I have dealt with. She also kept saying there was nothing she could do about the situation. (Perhaps that mantra is Company protocol?) As I continued to explain the situation, she kept trying to point out that the problem was not with Chase, and therefore, there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to her supervisor or manager.

Representative #5
I was transferred to another woman who said she was the supervisor. She is the second worst customer service representative I have ever dealt with. She unsuccessfully tried to point out inconsistencies in my explanations. She caught me off guard a couple times; she was good at redirecting the argument. But I stuck to the facts, which she ultimately could not argue with. She put me on hold as she spoke with someone in the Internet Department. After returning to the call, she said she was told to just waive the late fee and to give me the benefit of the doubt since no one could understand the situation. I asked for her name and a reference number that I could cite in the future in case the fee waiver did not go through. She gave me her name, title and location. But she said there was no reference number.

Does anyone else find this a bit strange? Every other company I've dealt with who has made any adjustments to an account always has a reference or confirmation number to document the action. This is why I wrote that I 'supposedly' got the late fee waived. So I'll have to wait for my next statement to see if the fee had indeed been waived. But I highly doubt it. If these are truly representatives of the company, I do not want to be associated with them longer than I need to be.

As noted in the other complaints, my credit card was offered initially by FirstUSA and then by BankOne. Both companies had heavenly customer service, dealing with all inquiries quickly, kindly, and reasonably. They seemed to always give the customer the benefit of the doubt. These most recent Chase representatives seem to always give themselves the benefit of the doubt.

Now, I must note, not all Chase representatives I've dealt with have been this bad -- just these crazies I've encountered in the past couple months.

I cannot seem to find anywhere on their website to file a complaint. I'm debating whether or not to make another phone call. Ugh, but I do not want to spend another hour on the phone. In any case, I will soon be closing my account with them.

I can say that to me Chase company executives should be in prison! There service is terrible, they treat even their best customers poorly and they collected a bundle in government (tax payer) bail out money. With Chase being one of the nations largest banks, I do not see how we can have any economic recovery? It seems to me that they are trying to now ruin the credit of their best clients. Shame on you Chase. After have both personal and business accounts with you for almost 20 years, I am leaving and will NEVER deal with Chase again under any circumstance. I hope all of your client go elsewhere and I hope Chase collapses. I also hope their CEO Mr. Dimon ends up in jail, where he belongs.

Hello to All,
I have a positive experience with Chase Bank. As of today, I have a checking acct., mortgage loan and 2 credit cards with them. Anyway, recently my husband’s credit line was decreased for no reason. Bank stated that my husband uses only a limited amount of his credit line. In two days after I discussed this issue with Customer Service, you won't believe me, but the credit limit was back in full!
To be honest, Banks don’t have to apologize to anyone for their own decisions. Only if you feel that you are strong and your credit score is good enough to return your limit back and keep it save, go for it! But, be nice and respectful when you want to get something in return. Do not act like it was your checking, saving account or your income they took from you. Accept your credit score to be low, you actually loose nothing. If your goal is about to keep your credit history in a good standing, you’ll be granted.

I agree, chase is the worst ever, they keep calling my house for a person that does not leave here, i actually have an account with them and it is so upsetting that they can not update that information so that i dont keep getting calls for that person, they call for somebody that does not leave here when they can verify that the home number they are calling actually is mine. One of there chase representatives was very rude and sarcastic of the whole situation.I hate getting a bad schre for closing an account but this was so dissapointing to me that i decided to go ahead and close it.I will never open or recomend any of my family nor friends to do busness with chase.

Okay, agreed that banks are in busines to make money, especially on your mistakes that counter the agreement you signed. However, they don't need to be rude and act as though they really don't need your business. If not my business then who's? Very large coporations maybe? There needs to be a cc company that caters to the individual. With Chase (formerly a WAMU credit card that I had) I have experienced nothing but rude, untrained customer service reps who know they got you where it counts. After your so angry with them, are you really going to dial again to go through the voicemail loops asking you to enter all that crap again, only to talk to someone who isn't going to resolve your issue? Here's my experience, several times:
1. Paid a bill online, pushed "Transfer" or "Pay" or whatever the final button is. Didn't find out till I got the bill from the one I paid, that it never went through. Chases response, you should always print out your confirmation number because we don't show that you ever made a transaction and with that of course they take no responsibility for the late fee imposed by the payee.
2. I needed to make a payment for my Chase business cc while on vacation, it is in my husband's name, I am a signor. I didn't have the passcode with me and I was put through a round robin that you wouldn't believe! First the voicemail asked me acct number, pin (which I didn't know), etc., knowing the voicemail wouldn't help I selected "O" for a live person, the voicemail system continued to ask for the acct number again before it would transfer, I entered the acct # again, then again it wanted the pin! This went on 3 times. It finally put me on hold for 10 mins, a live person came on asked for the acct # again, then said they needed to transfer me to the cc dept., hold again 5 mins, live person answered asked for acct # again, said they need to transfer me to "business" cc dept., hold again, another live person answered asked for SS#, Mother's maiden name, then she said I needed to select 1 of the following 3 place as an answer to, where did my husband live 20 years ago, when I refused to answer any more rediculous questions, she said she was going to transfer me to a high level security person, who asked for mother's maiden name and my husband's b-day, she put back through to the previous woman who then said she needed to transfer me to a final person who would make the payment! This new person I could hardly hear, either the transfer was a bad connection or she wasn't talking into her mic. I felt like I was ready for a nervous breakdown after 40 mins of transfers and rediculous questioning. And what's with wanting to know where we lived 20 stinking years ago! This is too much information for them to have.
3. Today, I have decided to pay off the card and be done with these rip offs. I used the card online to place an order with a vendor, who got back to me saying that the card wouldn't go through with some error about a restriction. I tried going online to make sure the account is okay, but since Chase took over WAMU, it has never been available to view for months. So I called the dreaded customer service, with voicemail loop, I pushed "O" eventually got a rep, who transferred me, then another answered saying they were transferring me to the Business cc, who said he was going to have to transfer me and I replied "Oh great because that's what the last guy told me" and he hung up!

I pay my bill on time every month. Recently, Chase received my payment on time (electronically) but processed it a day late (their fault). Thus, they charged me a $39 late fee. I politely asked them to credit the late fee. They refused. I then told them to cancel my account. They did so, and sent me a canned response "We hope you will consider us for your business needs in the future". Stunned at the ignorance of the response, I replied and said why would I ever do business again with a company that charges a good customer $39 for their mistake and won't take the charge off my bill. To which I received another canned response "Thank you for your suggestions for helping us improve our service". So I am cutting up my card as a right this and wondering how many more customers Chase will lose before they realize who is paying all their salaries.

I was never a Chase card holder until they took over Washington MUtual and I will never be one once my balance is paid off. I recieved my "new" chase credit card the month before my WM was to expire the next thing I know when trying to activate my new card is that i'm being told my account has been cancelled due to insufficient amount of time having the account and that my credit limit wasn't high enough. Not only that but they raised my interest rate as soon as they took over the account. I had never been late making a payment up to that point and have always paid more than the minimum due, after recieving their card I spaced out making the payment until the day after it was due not only did they charge me a late fee for payment made with in 48 hrs, but after paying a payment on the next due date I was charged an additional late fee because I didn't pay $9 of the first late fee. They called me 10 days later stating that my account was now overdue and I needed to make payment immediately. Do they not even give you 30 days anymore to rectify a situation?

I completely agree with all of the above complaints about Chase! What has happened to Chase and it's customer service? I was SO much happier with WAMU, I am very sad that "corporate banking" has taken over (again!)
I cannot wait to close my account with Chase ASAP, I was told "I could not close my account over the phone"! Chase charged me $150 in insufficient funds when they are the one that cleared my check for wrong amount! They are arguing with me about how much MY check was written for, UNbelievable! I am in shock with how rude, impolite, and lack of manners this whole institution has. God help us all when Chase goes belly up and clears out all accounts, I can't wait for the day when they fail!

OMG - I think I cracked The Code at Chase.

Last month Chase charged me a $39 over-limit fee for a credit card that I have had for years and pay the balance every month. The over-limit was $12.

I tried to no avail to get it reversed. If you are looking for the best way to complain go through your Chase.com mail box.

4 tries, and I got progressively more frustrated with the canned responses - cancelled the card and threatened to close both my and my husband's accounts. Nada. I gave uyp and paid the balance in full. Today I noticed a $1.50 charge had crept onto my account and I got really mad. I paid it and then started sending mail threateneing terrible things if any more charges appeared on my account. We went back and forth a few times and lo and behold I just received the following:

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for taking the time to re-contact us in regards
to the overlimit fee.

I credited your account for the $39.00 overlimit fee and
this adjustment will be on your next statement.

Chase Customer Service - should be called Dis-service

I called to find out why they ruined my credit score and raised my interest rate when they took over from Washington Mutual. Found out they had not received a $10 payment which I thought I had sent from my bank account automatically. They raised my interest to 30% and reported me delinquent.

I may have made a mistake typing, or they may have changed how they accept electronic payments. For $10 seems like a $15 fee, ruining my perfect credit and raising my interest rate to 30% is excessive. I don't carry a balance, but this is still usury.

I asked them to clear up my credit and to restore my normal credit card rate.

The first phone rep replied that no one at Chase would ever be able to help me. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he replied that no one at Chase would ever help me with this issue. I asked again to speak to a supervisor, and he again repeated that no one at Chase would ever help me with the issue of the interest rate, nor with the ruining of my credit. He was very nasty and hostile and rude and condescending. I asked him if he had a supervisor. He again told me that no one at Chase would ever help me with this issue. I asked if I might speak with his supervisor please. He shouted "FINE", and put me on hold where I stayed for 10 minutes, then hung up.

I called again and the phone rep replied that no one at Chase could help me on the phone but that I could write a letter. I asked for the name of the department and the phone number. She said she could not give that information, but she could give me the address. She then gave me a P.O. Box in Wilmington, Delaware. I asked several times if I could please have a phone number, or the name of someone to contact. She finally admitted that she could give me a fax number. I asked her if she was certain that no one at Chase would ever help me over the phone, and she said no one would ever help me over the phone. I asked her if this was an effort by Chase to get rid of Wamu customers. She replied that she could give me another address to write to and gave me a PO Box in Westerville, Ohio.

It's hard to believe that no one at Chase will help any customers over the phone. What is the matter with this company? Obviously, from the previous posts they are trying to get rid of Wamu customers, but their behavior is unacceptable. This is a very sick company. When a corporation starts instructing it's customer service people to provide poor service in order to get rid of them, then that is a warning sign of something horribly wrong.

I would warn anyone dealing with Chase to get their money out of that place. I plan to make sure that all of my family refinances away from this company.

Itried to use my card today, and it was rejected. I always make the payments on time, at least 100 over min due, so couldnt be that. Called number on back of card, finally reached someone. Was informed that I had requested an address change last month, which I hadnt. When asked what address had been changed to, they could not release that info to me. In order to change it back, I must take advantage of there new offer of fraud protection @$7.99 per month. I told her to send info, and i would look at it. No, I had to authorize the charge now. Told her this seemed like fraud to me, and I thought that Chase had change my address to initiate contact with them (will not answer an unavailable, blocked, or private call). Finally got her to run back thru transactions to make sure nothing bogus, got address changed back, then she said they were authorizing the charges to my card. I said I already used a different card, and did not want the charges authorized but she said that both time the store tried my card will go thru, and I will have to dispute the charges on my next statement.

JPMorgan Chase scummy business practices

I am complaining about the “new” BP Card that I was coerced / mislead into getting which replaced the traditional gas card. The new card is a Credit Card full of fees.

After 1 late pmt (over Xmas) when mail was late, they reported us to the credit bureaus.

This is scummy business practices and we are considering cancelling after patronizing BP for more than 20 years.

after a couple of years, I've decided to do something about this bill -- which is RUINING my credit.

I had a BP card for my 2 kids in college for several years... I didn't like the fact that if the limit had been reached, they still let them charge gas... but other than that -- no real problems...
paid through CHECKFREE every month, automatically.

Then, in 2006, Checkfree was cancelled and I had to go to the site to pay...
One problem after another -- couldn't get into the site, my account, whatever...

Then, i would CALL -- and they would tell me to go to the site -- it was a vicious and ludicrous cycle of ineptitude and frustration.

They had not properly posted 3 of my most recent payments. I asked for itemized statements over and over -- even sending evidence from my bank account that I had made the payments... NOTHING>>>>>

when I wrote them and told them I would not pay until they proved the amount -- under the Fair Credit Billing Act, they wrote me a letter telling me that I was just trying to get out of paying my bill and weren't going to send me anything!

So, by law, they had not done what they were supposed to -- BUT THEY ARE STILL POSTING THE BILL ON MY CREDIT ACCOUNT...

Now that I am out of school, I am going to research the law and file a complaint...

Any help?

BP AMOCO sucks, late fee assessed even though payment made on their website day it was due. Posted the next day (Could have had it posted the same day for $40+ fee) $29 late fee assessed. I am not paying it nor ever buying thier gas, costing them far more than $29 just in bad word of mouth comments. Rotten company to deal with, rude agents, etc.

Well to begin with - they lied. They never paid me the 10% promotion on gas that was promised - just 5 %.
Then they gave me an unreasonably low balance. After about 10 phone calls some decision maker gave me a balance increase. It still was not enough as I run it up and PAY IN FULL each and every month. My debt to income ratio is low and have a very good credit score...it makes no sense.
So, I have decided to cancel it - good riddance.

CHASE / BP IS THE WORST!

When Chase BP bought out my credit card account from BP Oil the account had not been used in over two years. They then issued a card to an old address of mine. The Chase Card was never received nor was the account activated.

Forward several years later and one charge appears on the account in the amount of 26.00 and because of the old address it starts adding late fees to the tune of 147.55. The charge on the account is in total error and fraud. First I learn of it is a call from the collection agency and of course it's on every one of my credit reports ruining a perfect credit record.

Funny thing is the collection agency easily got my correct address from my credit report. I have several other accounts with Chase with my correct address. Those accounts are all in good standing. Chase could of easily gotten a hold of me and given me the opportunity to contest the charge in a timely manner.

I called Chase and they refuse to talk to me because it's gone to collections. My credit is being held hostage.

Don't do business with them...it will ruin your credit and from reading the above posts...I'd run fast as I can.

Amoco/BP cards are the worst. We had one for 28 years, opened when it was standard/amoco oil company. Even though your account is paid in full, current and never late, you can expect your card to be declined at the pump for no valid reason. Exuses are rampant when you call customer service later to report the difficulty. We tired of the problem with them and their very rude attitude and cancelled the card. I opened a Citgo account and have a far better experience with them.

Why would anyone continue to put up with such a rude disrespectful company such as Amoco BP when there are better alernatives? With the price they charge for fuel, customers deserve better. Send them a message and take your business elsewhere.

DITTO. I closed my account and paid the balance in full to a person who was clearly in another country. She entered my bank account info wrong after repeating it to her numerous times. As a result (thinking my account was closed and after receiving NO notices) I see that they dinged my credit report. I called and they said that they show me having a balance of $107.19 which was all late fees and finance charges for an under payment of $5.00. They would not remove the late fees. And did not care if they lost an 8 year customer.

Is this or is it not just a very clear picture of the society we live in today? You try to do the right thing, pay your bills on time... and creeps like this are allowed to stay in business and conduct business like this.

I was charged a $15.00 late fee this past bill. I always pay my bill electronically on the first few days of the month. I called Chase and they said that was just the way it was. I NEVER pay any bills late. After this treatment I canceled the card and will never do business with BP or Chase again.

It is a shame companies like this are allowed to stay in business.

I used a BP/Amoco gas credit card since 2000 with no problems whatsoever. I paid electronically through mycheckfree and never suffered a late fee or finance charge. My gas purchases were substantial (to me) every month.

Enter Chase! Mycheckfree is cancelled, getting payment made online is a major hassle in comparison, all of a sudden I am assessed a late fee on a membership charge I cannot remember ever receiving, and now a $2.00 finance charge on a balance I paid in full earlier this month. I have cancelled my "new" card - I never got that either - and destroyed my old card. My credit rating has been excellent for many years. I do not want to jeopardize my good credit with this card I consider to be predatory in the extreme.

JPMorgan Chase illegal billing and overdraft fees!

Today, because of activity on my account, the four transactions overdrew my checking account by $30.00. Chase immediately seized on the moment and charged another $140 in overdraft fees, making the total balance a negative $170. I live on a very fixed income, and that $140 is my car payment. Chase has one of the worst checking account services in the land today. They only care about how much in fees they can take. Whatever happened with working with the customer? I'm moving my funds to a credit union.

Those companies who work for the customers and live with a clean conscious go out of business like Washington Mutual. I much prefer Wamu because, they would send notice of overdraft while the original purchase amount was still pending. This would allow customers to transfer funds in time and avoid the overdraft charges. On the other hand, chase sends notice days after the accnt has been withdrawn and the fees have been posted. We bail these big dogs out and they stab us in the back. Why do banks not deny purchases that are over the accnt balance? CHASE IS: The Branch of Opportunity to charge customers whenever possible. I'm looking for an alternative. Someone mentioned Credit Union; i'm gonna inquire about that. I can probably leave $100 with chase to use their ATM if credit unions don't offer many branches. You make your decision.

Absolutely on the mark! I put a deposit (cash) in the depository since my Chase ATM card wasn't working just a little after noon. So a few days go by and I get a notice (e-notice) that my account is overdrawn and I was accruing $66 dollars for two overdrafts (from debit card transaction of all things). I go to my account to find out how this could happen; here's how Chase made their money - they posted my deposit the day AFTER i had made my deposit. Doing so allowed the debits to create two overdrafts. It is robbery without a gun as they say.

To add to the problem of their overdraft fees, they want to sell you overdraft protection, which basically means they charge you a fee so they can charge slightly less on other fee's. In addition to that the overdraft fee is on an escalating scale, so each time it happens they charge you more.

Chase just hit up my college age son for $ 380 in just five days. We settled the account on the 10th of October, and they backdated an overdraft to the 9th with out telling us as we walked out of the bank. Then they charged 35 dollars per transaction and 35 per day amounting to $ 380 in five days. He was carefully checking his account to and it all popped up on the 15th. The Feds need to step in on these ridicious methods of accounting.

I hate Chase. I bank with them and every so often they mess me over. A week ago, a bill was deducted from my account that I wasn't expecting. It was about 22 dollars. The money would have been in my account about a day or two later due to my direct deposited paycheck, but I got charged about 60 bucks in overdraft fees. It sucked. Why is the fee so high?! They got their 22 bucks back, so why do they have to charge me an extra 60 bucks? That's crazy!

I thought the situation was okay this week because I left some extra money in my account just in case something unexpected happened. Well, I had enough in there for a bill I forgot about, but Chase charged me another 10 bucks on that account and I don't even know why. They usually charge my other account every month, so I wasn't expecting them to charge this account for anything. Well that 10 bucks screwed me up again and the balance fell to -$1.29. Fortunately I went to a Walgreen's when the money was still pending and found out about it at the ATM because Chase hadn't sent me an e-mail to alert me yet. Well the next morning I had the money put in the bank to cover the fee. I thought everything was fine because sometimes if you put the money in the same day, you don't get charged an overdraft fee.

Well last night I checked my account again and it said -$34.00--Chase charged me again! This is ridiculous! I put the money back in quickly and still got charged! It was only $1.29 that they had to cover! On top of that, they're probably going to charge me each day until Friday when the money is put in through direct deposit. They are one of the most oppressive banks I know!

It's no wonder my account keeps going negative because they keep charging me all this money! How am I supposed to stay on top of my real bills when they keep stealing my money?! I hate Chase!

Amen to that!
I have been banking with chase for the past two years, and always had NSF checks every month, even after I double checked via automated system and via a real person and was assured that my balance was exactly what they told me it was, but every month right before my direct deposit all of these debits that I was assured was clear popped up + unheard of transactions that I could not dispute! I felt very irrresponsible and was even ashamed to go to their bank. I know now I am one of their best cutomers and I figured out that I've been taken for over six thousand dollars in the past two year, Hard to believe, but so true. All we can do is a class action suit and close our accounts. Shame Shame on you Chase, because your statergy to keep you in buisness will close your doors at the end! You people are going to be caught via tape recordings and when you pay back all the $ you stole I smell a big bankrupcy.

Bad Luck Chase daaaaa we all will win!

They continually steal money from me. I opened an individual account with permission for my boyfriend to deposit and withdraw, with my permission and proper id, no debit card. My boyfriend and I broke up before I could get him off the account, they gave him a debit card, put him as a joint account holder and when I tried to take him off they said the account was in the negative from A transaction he did, so I put money in and when to close it the next day, an unknown transaction appeared putting it in the whole again. We went thru this for two weeks of me paying and trying to keep it in the positive long enough for me to close it. They never cared that if he had just been taken off like I wanted all this would of stopped. Finally with a lot of luck I got the account frozen and they opened me another account with his name no where on this one. They said it was all taken care of. Now a month later they withdrew 140.00 from my new account that had only 25.00 dollars in it to cover that account. I'm finding out a week later and no one is willing to fix it, plus I always seem to find out on the weekend so no one can help me. Is it legal for them to do this. Stay away they are rude and inconsiderate. Pass the word on please.

I usually had less than $20 charged, mostly books and paid them off monthly. I received billing by mail, every month, then in March i charged a gps receiver for $393 and never received another bill, now in August they say I owe $857 because of fees and charges due to non payment on a bill I never received. I certainly will have nothing to do with Chase bank again.

I agree, after 3 years of having a perfect record with Chase, I had financial difficulties and fell into a negative balance. I was being charged $5 a day for the negative balance. I told them it would be two weeks before I could rectify the situation, so I would rather close the account as I would still be in the negative by the time my money came through. They said no they could not close my account. In the end I'll end up owing them over $200 because they would not hold the fees or close my account. As soon as I get these outrageous fees payed off I'll never do any business with them again.

JPMorgan Chase resolving issues with chase manhattan bank

I also suffered problems with Chase regarding unwarranted interest hikes, insufficient explanations, and unhelpful representatives. However, by contacting the Better Business Bureau, I was able to achieve favorable resolutions with Chase. Complaints can be filed on BBB's website and the forms allow for detailed information regarding the specific complaint. In the future, I will no longer do business with Chase and I urge others to stay away from them as well.

I too have been harassed by CHASE BANK. If I am late on one (1) payment, they start calling me 4 to 6 times a day. I have my answer phone on. What they do is call, then let it ring until my answer5 machine comes on then hang up. They end up placing one (1) message a day on my phone, so that it looks like they only call me once a day. Pretty clever of them, but I have seen how many times they call me. In the very beginning, I was making a $78.00 a month payment, which they said was what I needed to pay. Least be knowns to me, they were tacking on the interest. Then, when I was over the limit, they tacked on even more. I tried to pay so that I could get caught up. I got a letter from them telling me they were canceling my credit card. When I called them they said I was over the limit. I told them I had been paying what they had told me. They told me if I had a problem with it, to file a complaint. I did. I never heard anything. SO, here I am trying to pay them.

I have had a Chase account for 13 years. The customer service seemed to be courteous and reasonable in the earlier years. They have made so many changes lately and it is always for the worst. They treat their customers like dirt.

I have always maintained a $3,000 minimum. In the last year I believe they tricked the customers. They said that checking accounts are now free with no minimum. (I still have an account plus IRA). Now when ever there is a slight problem with the account I am hit with an extremely high fee of $35.00. They paid a check for me with uncollected funds in which the difference was 6 cents. In the past, they would permit me to go over a few pennies. When I explained that $35 was an unreasonable penalty for 6 cents they could not help me. The next day when all of my funds were available I was $35 below which caused more fees on small purchases that I made at convenience stores. So I got a few more fees of $35 each for transactions of $1.00 each. No help from customer service, no satisfaction.

If I keep my money at Chase, they will make more money from me from the unfair fees that they hit me with. They are slow to release your funds, but quick to take the money out. It seems like there is always some problem or change that I am not aware of . At this rate, it is hard to maintain the modest savings that I already have with them. They will of course tell you that checking is "free" and there is no minimum balance. However, by the time they hit you with fees, you cannot even pay your rent!

I agree with you completely. We canceled our Chase card after they hike our interest rate of 19 % to 29% with no warning. They were over charging us on interest for a transfer which lowered the rate for 60 days. So they had to refund us $264.00, NOW GET THIS, they have charged me interest on the money they over charged me and had to refund me.

STAY AWAY FROM CHASE THEY ARE CROOKED AND I STRONGLY BELIEVE APPLY FRAUDULENT CHARGES TO YOUR ACCOUNT.

JPMorgan Chase dishonest mortgage foreclosure

Due to both of us losing our job at the same time, we were forced to file bankruptcy in 2005. Thanks to God's providence, we were able to "save" our home, or so we thought.

After the bankruptcy was discharged, the mortgage company, Chase Manhattan Mortgage Bank, began sending me "statements" from their "Homeowners Assistance Division" that did not show a due date, and, had the following statement printed on them:

This statement is not a request for payment. Another statement will be printed and mailed to you upon application of your next payment.

Like any logical person, I assumed that this was their way of "helping me reestablish my credit", and, twice over the course of a year and a half, I took advantage of this by paying "late" (according to my ORIGINAL loan terms, which again were not listed on the "statements" I was receiving). This, apparently, was my "crime".

All was (seemingly) good until Chase returned my November 2006 payment with a curt letter that listed "Need up to date funds" as the "reason" for returning it. I called them and was told that I owed them over $4,700 for payments, late fees, and legal fees (the "up to date funds"). I asked them to tell me what the late and legal fees were for, and they wouldn't. I requested that they send me a detailed statement of what I owed, which they said they would. I have not received it to date.

A week later, I received a letter saying that I owed them the above amount "plus any other payment that becomes due in the interim" by December 16th or they would take legal action. I called them again and asked them to explain how I could have "late fees" when there is no due date on the "statements", and, why none of their statements indicated that I was being charged or accruing late fees? I also asked them to explain what the "legal fees" were and when they were incurred. They skirted the issues (rudely and arrogantly) and basically argued with me. I finally got them to say that the amount I owed them was made up of three "late" payments plus late charges of over $400 and legal fees of $700. I demanded again that they send me a written, detailed statement of what they claimed I owed them.

Since I didn't get the requested information, and since the deadline was imminent, on the advice of my lawyer, I sent the certified amount of three payments plus three late fees (approx $3,900) along with a letter recapping all of this and AGAIN asking for a detailed statement showing their charges. This was signed for by them prior to their December 16th deadline (12/15).

Their response? A week later, I received a letter from their lawyers indicating that they were initiating foreclosure proceedings. A couple days later, I received the check back with the same stupid "reason": "Need up to date funds".

The sad part is, I had been putting money away in savings which I could have used to pay their "late fees", if they had only advised that I owed them! Instead, they wait until it is a very large amount, obviously banking on the fact that most people couldn't come up with the money to pay them.

DO NOT get a mortgage from Chase Manhattan Mortgage company! They have made NO effort to resolve this amicably. They seem intent on putting the screws to us, simply because they think they can get away with it.

I have seen several other [redacted]s about this reprehensible company, who preys on those who are least able to help themselves, due to financial hardship. I would heartily recommend that a class action lawsuit be filed against these jerks to make them pay for their insolence!

Chase Manhattan Mortgage is a Fraudulent And Terrible worst than any forgien threat to our country. moreover they are reprehensible liars. I lost my home after I advised them of an accident on my job lead to disability. I was ripped from my home and throw in the street. Letters were sent with total fraudulent statements. also I purchased a accidental disability insurance policy too. It was cancelled by Chase with no explanation after the forms were faxed to my Doctor. Then I had a letter from Prudential Insurance stating no lapses in coverage for homeowners insurance. Chase said unacceptable documentation. and threw me out on the street. My Doctor wrote Chase several times on my behalf requesting them to fix their records and it would be a social disaster for me to lose my home. They ignored our plea. Chase Manhattan is the terrorism that threatens Americans...Believe this it is true...

Chase mortgage is the biggest bunch of idiots I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I applied for a loan modification and was approved, but instead of lowering my payment they actually increased it by 200.00 dollars. If i couldn't make the original payment, how do they think I can make the higher one? I wish the government would shut them down!

These stories are all so familiar. We too were given the same run around with Chase when Chase jumped the gun by the one last day we had to pay our land taxes, and paid the taxes for us. Since my husband and I are self employed and had been struggling for years, we weren't able to make the full payment plus the additional full year's escrol payment. We made three month's payments that were just shy of the new full amount (dumb move) - that they considered to be missed payments. During this time, we kept calling and calling to see about loan modification, or to see if we could put the amount of the escrol on the back side of the loan (we had been in the house for over 11 years by this time and had paid them hundreds of thousands of $ by this time, so we weren't going to walk away...) but we were never able to get an answer. After not making any payment for two months, we were sent foreclosure papers. Talk about fast!
Finally, after getting so upset, spending hours on the phone and getting three different new monthly payment amounts, (but never any legal signed document to back it up!) I called our Congressman and was referred to a housing counselor. The housing counselor who had been in the business for years, called and spoke with some idiot at Chase, only to get a different monthly payment amount. And no guarantee that foreclosure would be stopped. So why would we send them any money ANYWAY? The housing counselor was stunned and said, "I can't believe this, - but you are getting SCREWED! He then suggested that we file bankruptcy to stop the foreclosure. The saga continues, but it has left a very bitter taste in my mouth. I've worked so hard, paid my own way, been a productive member of society and this is the help I get? Today in the Washington Post (9.29.10) there's an article on how back handed and screwed up the mortgage lenders are. What's next? A bunch of law suits (legitimate ones, albeit!) that our government (and our tax money) will have to bail out? When are the greedy b*stards at the banks and Wall Steet going to pay?!?!?

Chase had been a nightmare. My wife was on disability. I lost my job due to a nerve disease, but went to work for myself instead of waiting years for SS. I did OK until the economy went bad. My illness put me basically out of business, lost my license, but I still tried...but enough of that.
We got 4 months behinds. Chase told us to do a modification. Like most, after hundreds of phone calls, runarounds, we got in the mail that we had been approved and the paperwork was being done and we would later get our payment schedule. We even offered to make some payments why they were doing the workout, but they wouldn't take them or said they couldn't why the modification was in progress. So after a few months we called about when we could start making payments. They said our paperwork was too old and somehow after being approved, we're not approved. Even during the approval process, we had to call non stop to get the paperwork. Twice we were told it was mailed, we never got it. We were waiting on forms. We finally printed the forms off the net ourselves and mailed them. Each month we would send paperwork only to be told later they need more paperwork, but we were relieved when we got the letter we were approved. We asked how could they approve us, give it to us in writing and later just say we're not approved. We asked to redo the paperwork, but now it's too late. They told us we're approved and so we wait, they didn't contact us, anything. When we didn't recieve a payment plan after two months of being approved, we called them, only to be told we're not approved and they had already started foreclosure. You call and no one ever has a clue what has been done. During this whole process, over 12 months we offered over and over to make payments. We could've probably even caught up or now be only a few behind, but they refused to take them. May they rot in hell.

I completly agree with TC. The exact same things are going on with my mom. Chase will not send her any statements, which she has requested on numerous occasions. A chase employee told her that statements are a courtesy! A courtesy? Really? They also made modifications to her payments and was told not to send a payment until she received the paperwork.. Guess what, it was never sent. That too must be a courtesy. She can never get ahold of anyone. They purposely leave her on hold for 45 minutes to an hour. And she hoes through this about 5 times a month. Obviously chase thinks people have nothing better to do than sit on the phone for an hour just to get connected with a ###, an ###, someone who gives you the cplete runaround, someone in a different country. I mean you would think with this being such a big company that they could possibly get it together but no. They operate as if all the employs were just thrown into this job and when they don't know what to do or say they just put you on hold. Chase manhattan, Fannie Mae, Freddie mac, bank of America, ect... Are A SCAM. They don't care about the American people. They are just here to make as much money as possible whatever the cost. I wish we could get enough people together to actually do something. We need to take a stand against these companies. I feel like I haven't even scratched the surface about this Horrible company! NEVER go through Chase. You WILL regret it!

It would seem with as many people as there are complaining about Chase mortgage SOMEONE would do something about it. I too am losing my home.Through a series of events which affected my finances drastically I got behind in my payments. I sent my paper work in THREE times. Each time it was "lost" and I was passed around from person to person. I called Chase 83 times. (that's just the number since I actually started counting). I was passed around from automated system to automated system. When I did get to talk to someone I either go cut off or they had to transfer me to another person where I was either put on hold from 20 to 45 minutes, THEN cut off or I got a voice mail that was always full and couldn't leave a message. Out of all of these calls I actually got to leave a message two times and NO ONE called me back.

I got a letter stating that forclosure procedings had been started. I called Chase another 32 times and finally got through to someone else who said my case had been refered to "Fanny Mae". It took another twenty or so calls to get hold of that person. Who said they would be sending me a packet to discuss modification. They sure did and the payment was due in 10 days. It also stated that these payments would go on for three months and at the end of three months if the rest of the payments were not caught up that the foreclosure would continue. Mind you that the last three times I submitted my information I was also told I did not have to make a payment until I received my new contract. That only served to get me more behind.

Due to cuts at work I could not make these payments. I tried, without success, to call the person who had been assigned to my loan another twenty or so times. My house was now going to be foreclosed on. I sought out the help of an attorney who I thought had my best interest at heart since I was paying him to help me. Yes, I guess I am truly ignorant when it comes to all matters legal. It certainly felt like I was just thrown out to sea with a very small life jacket. In other words I ended up in worse shape than I was to begin with. If that was possible. So much for Chapter 13. Now I'm just completely sunk. Now I can't even talk to anyone for help. No one will listen since I filed Chapter 13. So the thing that was supposed to help me out more or less has become a lead weight around my ankle. The payment I was supposed to make to chapter 13 is more than it started out to be in the first place and I was told that it would increase. What a crock. The payment they had in mind would have left me $250 to $400 every two weeks to pay my bills, my car insurance, gas to work and feed my grandchildren and other micellaneous bills that came along. That was rediculous. So between Chase and my well meaning lawyer who thought he was doing me a favor I'm screwed.

If I was a deadbeat or drug addict or lazy so and so I would think I deserved this. Just the opposite. I am a hard working person who has always worked hard to improve life for me and my family. I took in my grandchildren when my daughter got hurt a work and couldn't support them, Eventually I took her in too because she lost her job due to her injury (although her employer says differently). She too is a hard working single mom. I'm proud of her for not laying around sucking off the wellfare system. This is the reward we both got. Doesn't seem fair..

Now once again, at the age of 51 I have to uproot my family. I blame my situation on bad luck but also on Chase mortgage WHO NEEDS TO ANSWER THEIR PHONES. They also need to make their employees accountable when the "lose" someone's paper work. Especially when that paper work contains information that could financially cripple someone if it fell into the wrong hands. I as well as others have trustingly sent our lives in a paper packet to Chase who lost it. Funny, no, not funny, tracic thing is Chase is NOT held accountable for it's screw ups.

As for out dear president. I wrote to him and he didn't dissapoint me. I didn't think he would care or reply and he didn't. All this BS about help for home owners is just smoke and mirrors. Trying to make it look like they are actually interested in helping. They are not.

I was told that the lenders don't want our homes. Then what do they want? If they really wanted to help there wouldn't be so many losing their homes.

As much as it tears my heart out to lose something that I've worked so hard for I guess there comes a time to let it go before it drags me under and destroys me completely.

chase lied to us as well. they told us we qualified for a hardship loan modification after i injured myself on my job and ran into financial problems due to the injury. long story short we had to file 3 times for this modification because they kept loosing our paper work. after the 3rd time filing they sent a letter stating the only way they could process the loan was by paying 1500$. so from my settlement we paid what they asked and then they claimed they lost our paper work again and was foreclosing on the house. everytime we tried to speak with a supervisor they kept sending us to a new supervisor who had no idea what we were talking about. they lied to us and caused us to file bankruptsy. the company i worked for went out of business and i had to get a job that paid a fraction of what i was making. also chase bank raised our rates to 15% from 7% in a matter of months. the president and these other jerks claim we all over extended ourselves and caused the housing collapse. this is only a very small percentage compared to others like myself who did all we could do. and now we dont qualify for any stimulus help. so we are not leaving our home. they can throw us in jail if they have to, but we are not leaving. im sick of the talk that us home owners caused this. its bull ###! the banks caused this by over extending themselves. plus they dont tell you about the trillions of dollars in derivatives these corporations lost. they are are scam artists and have no interest in helping you. the ceo's walk away with billions and let these companies go under. it makes me sick. wake up people. they are crooks and liars. stop believing all this garbage on cnn. they caused this. now just wait cause obama is moving for a single global bank. now were really screwed

I do not want to sound like I am attacking you but I want to make a few points. First, a lender makes no money on foreclosing your home. Many people have the idea that a mortgage company that has a loan outstanding for 100k and forecloses on the home worth 200k, gets to keep the equity...no they can only receive the outstanding balance. Attorney fees, etc, are just that... paid to attorneys. Foreclosures are a major problem for lenders and the higher a lenders foreclosure %, the lower its rating is on wall street. Lenders hate foreclosure. So, praying on the innocent...not really.

Second, if the company has done something wrong, and you are right... a foreclosure must go through a judge and you have every right to show the evidence. In any event, its sad that they did not staple the late fees notices to your front door every month, but in my experience you would have just used the excuse that you use the back door and didn't see them.

JPMorgan Chase ruining my credit

In July 2005 Chase claimed I was 30days late on my payment increasing my interest rate to 27%, my bank payment history showed I made a payment for the month of July also in April 2006 I made a payment of two thousand at the time I had a balance of over four thousand, on my May 2006 statement the balance was over 3 thousand dollars more than one hundred of fees was added. Chase stated on my Credit Report I'm 90day late. Which is ruining my credit. I closed that account over 2yrs, no matter how much money I pay, my balance never goes under three thousand dollars, I sent letters to Chase asking why I’m paying some much fee why my interest rate have skyrocketed to 27% without any explanation all I get is numerous amount of phone calls at work and home without any help. Now when they call...they don't hang-up the phone, when I check my messages all I here is that beeping noise the sound...the phones makes when it's left off the hook, happens everyday now!

feb 2023 chase closed my account and I never received my deceased husbands social security check of $2078.00. I have proof they had it on the statement it looks like maybe it was sent back however I’ve contacted ss and they have no record of that they also told me they can’t intervene with the bank I don’t know how to get that check back

Hello, I’m reaching out to you in hopes of negotiating a settlement for my FRCB shares. Please respond to this message if you have any interest in negotiating before I file a formal lawsuit. Thanks

I left my employer and the send me a "Chase" check for over $8k so I deposited it in my "Chase" account. It is on hold for 2 days, why..? It is Chase to Chase and you still hold it? I have no money and my account is negative because the check was not credited to my account.

Completely misrepresenting ads and promos. Open a savings account with the $700 promo and NEVER received a dime. In addition, after complaining to BBB because their escalation department did not contact me ... they told me they WOULD not do anything for me! Great customer service ever.
