I had an appointment with Aspen Dental's Lakeland office in Florida and was immediately alarmed by their transparent motive to maximize their profits! I have had regular dental visits since I was a child and pride myself in getting regular cleanings; however, with my recent move to Florida I have allowed two years to lapse since my last cleaning. So needless to say, I was looking forward to finally resuming my regular visits to the dentist. The first clue I had that Aspen was more interested in my wallet than my teeth was that even after I denied the oral cancer screening (since I am not at risk) the dentist still recommended it in my "treatment plan". She stated that it was covered by my insurance anyway so it would be no additional cost to me. I was also told that I had early periodontal disease. I told the hygienist that I was "shocked" and that none of my previous dentists had ever reported my having had gingivitis much less full on periodontal disease. She just wagged her finger and said, "start flossing!" I then was taken back to the business manager's officer wherein I was given an estimate of over 1000 dollars worth of treatment. Coincidentally, none of these treatments were covered by my dental insurance and I was expected to return every 3 months for these treatments. Still amazed by my sudden onset of periodontal disease along with the apparent seriousness of resuming immediate and frequent treatment, I told the business manager that my paying the 1000 dollars was a NEGATIVE and I would appreciate my x rays on my way out the door. One thing I will say about Aspen Dental is that I certainly admire their persistence in the face of losing money as she promptly gave me discounts and removed the oral cancer screening (which by the way was NOT covered by my insurance) and gave me a new estimate of just over 350 dollars! By then the red flags were proudly waving all over the room and I wanted nothing more than to just get out of there! Of course though, Aspen could not let me leave without charging me a so called 50 deductible (which I later called my insurance company and was told that I should not have been charged a deductible since there were no procedures performed - only the x ray and new patient exam). They also tried to make me sign a form with the new estimate stating that I accept the recommended treatment plan. I realized again with open mouthed wonder that the audacity of Aspen had no boundaries! Please do not waste your money and precious time on these money grubbers!

I have talked with office manager of newark oh aspen dental. 2 different aspen offices can not make partials to fit my mouth. & want to give me the run around on a refund. like offering to give me under $200 back. afterpaying $800.00 cash & owe care credit card $1500.00.do they really think im that ***? im tired of being past to one person and back to another. then i get a letter from patient services supervisor. telling me i need to talk with office manager. but when i do its the same thing .you needa adjustment but dentist says he cant do anything about the cap in teeth on the partials. they made them and its my second pair between 2 aspen dental offices that cant seem to make partials to fit my mouth. in that case i feel they did not perform work that was paid for so why cant i get a refund? so i can find a better dentist to fix my mouth.is there a owner of this corporation or just managers that cant seem to get together on this problem. refund me and ill go to another dental office that has nothing to do with aspen dental.

My first appointment with Aspen Dental (Harrisburg, PA) was for x-ray and exam which they advertise to be free but at wasn't. The next appointment I found a different dentist, and in a 6 month period I saw 5 different dentists, some of them needed their assistants to tell them what to do.

Every time I receive the explanation of benefit from my insurance they tell me the charge was too much for the service.

After I finally went to another dentist, he told me that the crown they have put for me was wrong, and he showed me that on the x-ray, I actually still feel pain from that crown.

Finally I found out that they sent my name to a collection agent for unpaid pill, and I'm sure I paid all pills.

Look at the rate at which people are writing these horrible stories here .Believe it or not in reality there are 100 times more upset patients but we dont hear from them on this board as most of the people who go to Aspen dental do not have computer knowledge to post here

My question is how come these state dental dental boards and legal athorities

are so passive about it .Is aspen bribing them to shut their mouth ?Corporates like Aspen made dentistry worse than used car sales .I feel so sorry for people who go there .Unless we all come together and do something about it nothing is going to change

I also went to the Waterford, Ct. Aspen Dental, for tooth problem well I thought I broke my tooth well I didn't a crown popped off I didnt know put they did because you could tell the tooth was shaved down that is what my orginal dentist said when I told him about what Aspen done my dentist at the time had retired so I had to find dentist because it was my tooth in the frontside so I went there they said they would have to extract my tooth and I needed ex rays anda cleaning, and they billed me for that and said I need to see the doctor again for the problem well they charge again for him to look at my mouth and then he sends me to the other dr F who dosen't know what he is doing he filled 2 of my teeth and I didn't go there for that well he cause moreproblems I complained to the surgeon when I saw him he said I will take care of it well Dr F looked at my mouth and he said I chipped it no I didn't he did when he hit my tooth the first so went in and filed and did alot of stuff caused more problems |.I go to get the implant bar inserted that is all welll and done this was in 2009 of July and then Dr F said I needed to replace the crown next to the implant bar in March because I had gotten a major infection in my mouth I had complained several times in 2009 to them and the office people they saw me and said nothing was wrong well they were wrong I went in for a visit walked out with a mouth of pain and stiches and because Dr S said I had severe infection and gave medicine and said my jaw bone was deterating, So I went home in pain".Then I was called in for a fitting for a crown By DrF what a joke they were rough not caring that I had a mouth ful of stitches and all so that was done I was called to come for the crown to placed well guess what it wasn't mine it was ordered wrong and he tried to puy some one elses in my mouth so that was cancelled I was told I would have to come back I did and again wrong he worked on it to fix it and it worked".another issue when it came time to put thethe tooth crown in for the implant that was wrong and again DR F blamed it on the lab where it came from so he sent it to the guy at the lab to do something to it and then placed it in/. I will never step foot in there again they wanted the final money up front before they even finished my mouth so to finish it the girl said I need to pay the balance and I said ok and when I gave them the check they took me to the back to finish". Well they started in July 2009, they finished in Dec, 2010 and I was told by other dentist it should have never took that long, they charged me for visits for the doctor every time and it was for the same job they right up paper work 2 times and each one said a different amount she said to go by the new one and I would only a couple hundred bucks wrong I took a lone out for care credit paid that and my only cost was supposed to 200 when I made the final payment I thought was the final payment $785..00 dollars wrong today I received a bill for another 435:.00 dollars I called and asked what the H was going on they said they would get back to me they haven't...They are scam artist they don't care about there patients they cancel your appointments change the time of your appointment and expect you to drop every thing or leave work to get to there new appointment they made for you, They lie and say one thing and tell the doctor you are the one causing trouble when you complain the doctor is there only 2 a month he is at offices all over the place. So don't go there I had to get the tooth done that DR F filled by another dentist I was in so much pain it turned out I had to have a root canal done so I was charged twice by DR F to fix tooth 3 and had to pay $865.00 TO Get it fixed right by another dentist office who couldn't believe this and he looked at my implant bar and said I am going to have problems with this and I said why what do you mean he said I scrapes on the bar he said it might from when they cut my mouth open and cleaned and packed it ... So don't go there please I hurt so I don't want you to suffer..

I went to Aspen to fix a broken tooth, which was great. They said I had a cavity and I went back after the permanent crown had been placed. No problem with the crown, but the tooth that they filled is firing killing pain into my jaw. I have gone back twice and now going a third time to see a different dentist at my request there. More x-rays were taken last time and they can't see the source of my pain. There was no pain before the filling. I am having trouble sleeping. My medical doctor says they may have caused me to have a TMJ problem. This time back, one more chance to fix the problem and I'm outta there. It the pain persists, I will seek legal action.

Allie, I hope you are paid well. You sure are busy having to say you're sorry all the time.

You are exactly right Linda. It's all about the money. See, the more expensive dentures make more money for the company and it looks better on the office to sell the higher dollar denture. Aspen, do you disagree?

Aspen dental is truly a rip off corporate business in my opnion the say you may recieve free xrays and exam but neglect to tell you if you hold any kind of insurance that this will not apply weather your insurance pays or not then they make a more expense deture than you tell them and argue with you that you absolutly must have the more expensive one .Each time you return they have added more charges and you end up paying more and more < DO NOT GO THERE

Ahh yes, the Aspen experience. So many dentists because they move around the different offices. Most of the dentists are right out of school or they closed a practice to join this company. Keep watching this board for yet another apology from "Allie" suggesting you contact patient satisfaction and then thanking you for bringing it to their attention. I can tell you this, when the local office gets the call they hate it and cuss about patient satisfaction. Remember, it's all about the money. Deposit and budget.

Let me save you the time of contacting them. They will email the office where you had this horrible work done for a no charge re eval and you will get a call. Do you really want to return to them? Most of the complaints you read on this board from patients, in my opinion, are true.

If you appreciate this patient for sharing, keep reading there are plenty of other complaints and you can apologize all over again to them.

Ah, Miss Priss...You are so right...that's the way it goes at Aspen. Present the full plan and then back it down. Nice on the discounts but was the treatment really necessary? I always wonder that too...Make sure you get a second opinion and from someone that's not right out of school or some veteran that ran her/his practice in the ground.

Corporate dental--where money comes first and patients...well they don't figure in at all.
Thanks and come back again.
