I had to get a new mobile phone and a new phone number recently. Due to having OTP set up with Amazon I couldn’t access my Amazon account apart from through an already logged in web page. I contacted Customer Services who informed me that I would need to upload a copy of my passport to prove my identity and it would take 1 to 2 days to remove the OTP. 8 days later I had not heard anything so I requested a call back. The operator I spoke to told me that I needed to change my password, but I challenged this. He then said he needed to speak to his supervisor who advised me that I needed to be transferred to a specialist who would get back to me within 24 hours. 48 hours later still no response so I requested another call back. The operator told me to email my request to the specialist team which I did. I sent about 10 emails. Eventually I received a response informing me that the information supplied was not any good and they had to interview me via video link, a link was included. The email was from a no-reply address. I clicked the link which went to a webpage that informed me that the session requested was no longer live. I have sent another 3 emails to the specialist team but as yet no reply. I have to set up the video link appointment within 5 days or they will close my case. However I cannot set up the appointment. After every call I receive a customer feedback email that tells me that Amazon is working to be the best in global customer service!
One other thing…the specialist team has replied that they cannot remove OTP from me as a seller until I complete the process however, I am not a seller and never said I was. All I told them is I want to change my phone number. I am considering cancelling my Amazon account completely and just moving to EBay and Kobo.
Recommendation: Cancel Amazon!
