Approximately 18 months ago we purchased a Whirlpool washer. From the time we purchased it we had nothing but problems with it. This coupled with the fact that it doesn't clean even the most minor stains. About 2 months ago problems began with the unit not washing or draining. We contacted technical support with the issue(s). We were told that we could purchase an extended warranty. We had to pay for a service call to find that the main panel went bad. Evidently, this is a common occurrence with Whirlpool washing machines. Nice business practice to hide this from the consumer. The fact that we are faithful Whirlpool product users or that the unit failed so soon after the warranty meant nothing to them.
We have had difficulty with other manufacturers products shortly after the warranty ended, all of whom made good in some respect to keep our business. Only Whirlpool refused to accommodate us with at least a pro rating on a repair. As we were forced to purchase another washer we now have to take a total loss on the Whirlpool washing machine, hoses, installation and removal of both this subpar Whirlpool unit and the previous unit it was to have replaced. The cost of a service contract through Whirlpool was nearly as much as purchasing the other unit. Besides, why should we pay all that money to fix an inferior product?
If you check various web sites where customers leave feedback, you will find that Whirlpool has the lowest dependability, lousy customer service, and a track record for faulty appliances.
Recommendation: Purchase a Whirlpool appliance at your own peril.
