Whirlpool not working only 14 mos old

Bought whirlpool gold gx5shdxvd 3/31/10 total cost $1, 259.10 at lowes. refrigerator fridge and freezer quit working 4/27/11. called lowes were told to deal with whirlpool since 12 mos warranty had just expired but companies may honor warranty since within 30 days of expiration. whirlpool took details said it would take 48 business hrs to get response, since it was a thursday said if we didnt hear back by monday 5pm to call back. no response. my husband called tuesday morning and was told they had no record of previous call and we were now past the 30 day grace period so we were out of luck. called an 'authorised ' repair person listing whirlpool as a manufacturer they were authorised to work on. cost $346.12 for repair, 'replaced retrofit upgrade relay cap control' 6/8/11 same problem, repair man came back out says compressor grounded out - its completely shot. according to whirlpool the repair company is not actually authorised to repair whirlpool even though they list in phone book they are according to whirlpool only four such companies in area. so we are out of luck we could have chosen to buy extended warranty and did not so not their problem.in the mean time we have a 100 degree heat index and no fridge.

Whirlpool faulty electronic touch pad: w10122295

I've replaced the entire appliance today instead of dealing with Whirlpool and their lack of responsibility for this terrible product.

GW395LEPS02 & specifically, PART W10122295

Basically, the panel interface fails on the unit.

>I've two parts after owning the appliance for only 4 years.
>First is was the circuit board. Then I had to replace the original tap pad (which failed) with a new panel control (PART W10122295) in December of 2009. This part was reissued by the company to replace the original component on the appliance. It cost twice as much.
>On 03/17/2011, approximately 15 months after I replaced the panel control, it has failed again!
>Others in my condo complex have had the same issue (over 24 appliances so far). Some units failed while the oven was on and the gas had to be cut off to stop it.
>I've purchased a new oven range from another company and will no longer purchase from Whirlpool. They were unresponsive and dismissive of the obvious malfunction in this appliance.

A complete lack of consumer concern from the company and terrible electronics in this product.

Whirlpool front loading washing machine

So I am having the same problem as everyone else - my front loading washing machine is leaking. It happened for the first time about 6-7 months ago and only happened about once a month or two. I did a load this morning and *surprise* it happened again - only this time it was WAY more water - it looked like a flood.
I am so mad! I hate doing laundry enough as it is and this situation makes me hate it more!
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER WHIRLPOOL APPLIANCE AGAIN!

Whirlpool service

Mid February we noticed that the microwave was "beeping" and the error code "F2.Q1, Touch FMEA would appear on the control screen. We called Whirlpool and was referred to A&E Appliance Service. On 3/7 Tech Jim ID #0009852 came and assesed the problem and called his tech support to verify what part was needed to repair this problem. He was told to order a CNTRL-ELEC #22 664 W10115588 1 at the cost of 228.28 + a service call charge of $136.74 for a total of $365.02. I was required to pay for this charge at that time + service call chg . Jim made a new appointment for 8 days later (the part was to arrive within 3/5 days). The appt. was for 3/15 and the part had not arrived so I had to reschedule the appointment. The part came late in the afternoon on 3/15. The rescheduled appt was for 3/19 between 8am-12pm. On 3/19 no one arrived by 11:30 so I called to confirm that a tech was coming and I was told "yes they should be there shortly". Again I called at 1:30 and was told the same thing. At 2:30 I called and was told the same thing, but I had to cancel the appt at that time as I had a commitment to attend. The new appt was for 3/22. Mike, tech #0725499 came and installed the control panel. At approx 6:00pm that evening the microwave started "beeping" with the same error code "F2.Q1, Touch FMEA. I called to report this and was told that someone would be out in approx one week. I said this was constantly beeping and that appt was unacceptable, as the microwave is inoperable. I was then given an appt for the next day, 3/23. On 3/23 tech Carl, #0564526 came and assessed the issue and said there was a loose wire. Carl suggested we purchase a service contract at this time. We purchased the service contract for $135.42. At Approx one week later the microwave started "beeping" and showed the same error code again. I called and received and appt for 4/11. The microwave at this time beeped constantly for approximately 4 days! On 4/11 Jim tech #0009852 arrived and assessed the problem as I needed a control assembly [protected] 1. The part that I paid 365.02 for was not the issue. Jim ordered the part and scheduled 4/19 for the installation date. On 4/19 Carl #0564526 came and installed the control assembly. During the installation a part on the inner door cracked and had to be reordered. Carl made an appt for 4/27 for the inner door part to be installed. On 4/27 Jim #0009852 arrived to install the part and opened the package and the piece was cracked and broken. He ordered another inner door part. He made a new appt. for 5/24. On 5/24 the appt was to be between 1-5pm. I waited until 4:30 and no one had arrived so I called and was assured that I was scheduled for that date and they might be running behind schedule. At 6:45 I called again and was told that the technician went home for the day! I was asked to reschedule for a week later! I refused that date and insisted that someone come out the next day, 5/25. I was given that appointment between 8-12. At 11:30 am I received a recording that the technician was running late. The technician came at 12:30 . Jim #0009852 arrived to install the part and opened the package and the piece was cracked and broken again! Jim made a new appt. for 6/3. Today the part arrived and I decided to open it instead of waiting for the technician to come and open it and guess what?...the part is cracked and chipped! I have made 10 appointments, due to the tech not arriving within the window of time I was given one appt was cancelled, one no-show and one cancelled because part did not arrive on time. I have been very patient through this whole debacle, but my patience is running out. What will it take to get a part shipped that is not damaged? I also would like to be reimbursed for the first visit of $365.02 because the part ordered was not necessary (I have it if you want it back) and there was no reason for a service call if the right part was not ordered. I have given a lot of my personal time to be home for these technicians at a cost of lost of wages.

I've had 2 of these microwaves in less than 11 months in a motor home. Since the motor home is used sporadically, so is the microwave. The first microwave broke after 5 days use, beeping and switching menus by itself. Service took months. Whirlpool refused to send a new microwave so Winnebago sent one at their expense. It has been installed 5 months, but used only 3 weeks because we were not using our motor home. It died completely after 5 months, yet only 3 weeks of use. It suddenly went black while cooking. We cannot get oven light, fan, or any panel items to work. Service is delayed.

Whirlpool reoccuring problem

In January 2011 I had my Cabrio (Model: WTW6400SW2) repaired for the quality issue that was resulting in the F51 error code. After dealing with the horror that is the service company (who they don't tell you is jointly owned by sears & whirlpool) they use (who was a no show and then lied about calling us) I escalated after having waited more than 3 weeks and had a local repairman here to replace the control panel (it took 15 minutes in total) that was apparently the culprit. Unfortunately we're now at the end of May -- a mere 4 months later ... and guess what code I'm getting again ... F51. I called Whirlpool Customer Service and after sitting on hold for 48 minutes (interesting how every time you call no matter day or time they are experiencing higher then normal call volumes) to find out that they weren't going to stand behind what they did ... that in their mind they fixed the quality issue. If in their minds the repair was supposed to last 4 months ... that's a quality issue to me. I have a number of people that purchased this washing machine because of me, and to be sure I will be advocating the complete opposite in the future. I will never buy Whirlpool or Maytag (that equally sucks) again. What was also special was that when I posted a comment to their facebook page ... they deleted it ... guess they don't want people knowing the truth... they have forgotten that it is women who make appliance purchasing decisions ... and they way they do that is by talking to other women ...

I am a single mother who purchased her first new appliance in 14 years. Hooray, a brand new tech washer that gives me filthy clothes! Whirlpool doesn't care, whirlpool is still manufacturing the machine, it is still being sold. Post this everywhere, Don't let anyone else get screwed. I have no book, no info., so obviously HH Gregg already new the machine was a piece of garbage as well. Of course when the salesperson at Lowes indicated the machine was bad, I simply thought he was trying to make a sale, shame on me too.

Whirlpool refrigerator not providing cooling

I had purchased a refrigerator from the authorised dealer of whirlpool India in Dhubri. the compressor stopped working in December 2010, and I had to get servicing from the service centre, for which they also sent a bill to me in February 2011. But now the refrigerator again is not getting cool for the last 3 days. So why does such a big multinational company produce such sub-standard appliances and thereby harass loyal customers like us ?. plz provide early remedy. thanks

Whirlpool very poor after sales service

I had purchased a Whirlpool window AC about 8 months ago from a dealer in Patna. It's compressor carries a 5 year warranty. The AC suddenly stopped functioning about 15 days ago. I registered a complain with the company's customer service center (no-PT0511005703, dt-19.05.11). I was assured that the technician would visit within 24 hrs after repeated reminders to the call center the technician visited after 3 days but all he did was detect a faulty compressor and assure a quick replacement but he actually went back and sent a false closer report to the company. I waited for a few days and contacted the customer service again I was made to re- register the complain and was assured immediate action (no-PT [protected], dt-23.05.11). I'm still waiting for some assistance.I'm highly disappointed with the after sale service of Whirlpool products and will never purchase any of it's products nor will I ever recommend it to others.

AE Factory Service was scheduled to make a service call to repair a Whirlpool refrigerator under warranty. The repair person didn't show up the entire day and didn't bother to call with an update. I called the 800 number and was told the local dispatcher would call me right away. That didn't happen either. No one called to reschedule the service.

Whirlpool fire hazrad on refrigerator

Whirlpool refrigerator "Relay" caused fire: Hundreds of reports (see http://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/whirlpool_refrigerators.html) have brought this issue and why we have to tolerate this for so long?

Refrigerator caught fire. Smoke alarm set off. Had I not been home damage would have probably been out of control. I traced smoke to bottom of refrigerator and pulled unit out from wall and pulled cord, cutting power off to unit. Whirlpool called and they said unit out of warranty. Repair people stated the control to activate compressor burned and this was not the first one they had seen. They replaced unit with a older style and billed me. Whirlpool has recalled it's other brands for this problem but refused to do anything about it's Whirlpool brand. Same problem. I have retained failed part. Photo and copy of invoice sent to WhirlpooI and nothing heard back from them. I should be reimbursed for this failure and food loss and cleanup required. I think it's about time Whirlpool stepped up and recalled these units and repaired all of them.

Whirlpool not backing their products, poor quality

My fridge broke down on april 13, 2011 and sent a service request on april 14, 2011. The technician arrived on april 22, 2011 and performed the diagnostic of the problem. He determined it was the inverter-box (Part #w10186719) was the cause of the malfunction. However he was unable to verify the status of my factory warranty.

The fridge order was placed on april 7, 2010, and the shipping company's "bill of landing" shown a delivery date of april 13, 2010. Which was exactly one year from the date of delivery to the malfunction. I would like to know if whirlpool still honor the warranty based on the delivery date or purchase date? Since owners should not be responsible for anything happened prior to shipping.

After calling whirlpool customer service, the lady just simply telling me i'm sol and they cannot do anything. Apparently not willing to back their products up. How can a fridge break down just one year after warranty. Sounds like deliberate poor quality job from whirlpool!

I had same issue 1 year and 10 days after purchase inverter box went out. Now 1 year 11 months later same problem, inverter box. Luckily I was able to replace myself. You would think a 2500$ refrigerator would have better components. No more whirlpool for me.

Whirlpool service contract

My Parents (above 70 years) bought a whirlpool air conditioner in 2009. When company engineers they came for installation they suggested them to sign for a service contract for three years. For one year there was no complaint but second year it started showing some issues, service center was contacted but no service. For past four days I spend with them and trying to reach customer service, surprisingly same response, they do pick up the phone but reply is same, some one will attend asap. I am very much surprised as I though Whirlpool is reputed company that is why I recommended my parents to sign service contract with the company so that they do not have to run around in case of any problem. I wanted to register this complaint and will be happy if any action is taken so that in future such organization should be promoted and faith of customer in service contract, etc should remain firm. I will also try to reach Whirlpool head quarters for this case as I am sure there may be many such sufferers int he country.

Hi,

I have purchase a 1.5 ton Whirlpool a/c in June 2011 with a 2 free service. The second wet service was scheduled in June however when we received a call from Whirlpool service center we were on vacations out of town so, we requested them to make it after a week the date was around the beginning of June 2012 for the service. We received no call from them after that. Now when I called them for the 2nd free service on 17th June they said no request has been placed on their records and the warranty on the a/c has expired. Since I have one more a/c purchased from whirlpool the a/c was serviced at the end of the summer season and their personal told me before that however the date of service on their manual is stated as only 9 months from the purchase date but they can service the a/c at the customer's convenience. The service of the Whirlpool customer agents were pathetic and they were even rude and hung up the calls multiple times on numerous occasions. We would be thankful if you support us in taking strict action against Whirlpool Company. I ADVICE ALL NOT TO GO FOR WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT, IF YOU WANT POST SALES SERVICES OF YOUR SATISFACTION. I feel that company like WHIRLPOOL is selling substandard products & fraudulently fooling it's customer's and making big money.
I WILL TAKE THIS CASE TO THE CONSUMER COURT IN CASE THE ISSUE IS NOT FIXED SOON.

Whirlpool used refrigerator

In December of 2010 we purchased a used refrigerator from QuinMac in Kingston. We were given a 3 month warranty on it. The refrigerator did not cool from after the first week of purchase. The company came out to service the appliance 2 times after numberous calls of complaints. The fridge was tampered with by them and rigged only to work for a couple of days. 2 times our food spoiled. And to this day, the fridge is completly unusable and just sitting there without purpose. This is a very unreliable and thiefing company. We are out 26, ooo JA. And never again will we conduct business nor recommend business to these people.

Whirlpool terrible customer service

I bought a convection oven/range at Lowes on 5/3/2010. Less than one year later, it will not heat up well - just suddenly started not heating. I called customer service, and got a supervisor. this supervisor told me that I had purchased it in March 2010, and it was not covered under warranty, and that I would have to pay them to repair it. I explained that I knew that it was purchased in May, but he insinuated again that I must be a liar. I asked why should I buy Whirlpool instead of a cheap off-brand, if they don't stand behind their name. His answer was that he doesn't need customers like me. I was told to have Lowes send a copy of the receipt to him - so I hung up, called Lowes, and did just that, showing that it was still under warranty. I have bought lots of Whirlpool products over the years, but no more. Since they don't need me as a customer, I won't be one. I will not buy Whirlpool again, and will let everyone I come in contact with know that they do not care about standing behind their brand. Buy Whirlpool at your own peril - they don't care about you once they get your cash. They certainly don't care about their brandname.

I purchased whirlpool 6.2ct electric range (model WFE540H0AS) on 3/16/2013 from Lowes, Fremont, CA. I tried to bake my cake on 11/19/2013, and pre-heat it to 400F degree. When the temperature achieved to 400 degree, I put my cake in not even 5 minutes and go to dining room to pick up something. When I turn around, I saw the oven window is so bright and I open the door right away, it has fire from the left side bottom. I turn off the power right away but still has big fire. So I use the fire extinguisher to get the fire off.

I went to Lowes to complain it, this product still under the manufacture warranty and I also purchased two years extended warranty from the store. Lowes sent the 3rd party technician come over to check, they open the bottom element and insist I drop something to caught on fire. He tried 350F degree is working. But the fact is, there's nothing drop, no oil, water or and any ingredients, only fire extinguisher powder all over the bottom. Technician put but the cover, I asked him, how do I clean up the bottom extinguisher mess, he said you don't need to, just clean the top and won't try 400F degree for me since the top didn't clean up. I asked him, I am so fear to use it now, you asked me to clean it up and try again. I only use my oven to bake cakes, cookies, and muffins, and that day the cake even not still raise yet. How could it caught on fire? Is this product defective? I doubt it.

I also called Whirlpool, they said most likely is short circuit, they only provide the repair, unless it can't be repair, then they replace it. Manufacture also told me that my temperature is high. I don't think so. I have no problem to use any oven in 425-450 in the pass. If this is high, why your stove has function to that high degree? I am so upset with both of service. From my concern, nothing dropped to bottom and caught on fire. They all refused to replace the new one and asked me to continued use it. I really don't feel confident to use this one and don't know who can help me to replace it.

From my concern, nothing dropped to bottom and caught on fire. They all refused to replace the new one and asked me to continued use it. I really don't feel confident to use this one and don't know who can help me to let the manufacture replace it. I think this is defective product and have safety issue.

Whirlpool faulty repair

Whirlpool engineer visited my home end March 2011 to check the non-working window AC and gave in writing that the rotary compressor was not functioning. The compressor is within 5 years warrantee period. The AC was taken away on 1st April and returned in my absence after 11 days with some old compressor which is groaning and making intolerable noise. Even after my family protested that the repair was ineffective and bad, they still installed it. I find attitude of the repair workshop very poor. Recommend do not buy a Whirlpool product ever.

Whirlpool sub standard repair/inordinatedelay

My frig under AMC with tne company failed to cool properly and I registered acomplaint with them on 4/4/2011.After inspection on 4/4/2011, informed me that gas has to be filled. On 5/4/2011 their mechanic tried to fill the gas but failed. He informed that he has to drill ahole at the back of the fridge and connect apipe externally to fill the gas, as the original pipe fitted internally as clogged. Some thing like a BY PASS surgery.Appears that instead of doing a proper job or replace the defective frig, they are trying to settle the matter by doing some crude work.Even after so many days they are yet to complete the repair.Already 5 days have elapsed

Whirlpool it's a lemon

I purchased a Whirlpool Duet washer & dryer the end of June 2006 so they aren't even 5 years old yet. I've already spent $320.00 on the washer since it's been out of warranty. nothing but a nightmare. The last time I had to pay for repair on the washer was just 6 months ago. Already I'm having another problem, either the MCU or CCU which are circuit units, expensive! So, I have sent Whirlpool emails in the past and most recently did only to receive a reply, "too bad, so sad". The store where I purchased it suggested I call Whirlpool to see if they'll do anything to help me out. Nothing, just a lot of lip service. When I said I see Whirlpool doesn't care about customer service or satisfaction. Oh no, they care. I told them actions speak louder then words and I didn't see any positive action from them. I would NEVER purchase another Whirlpoor product again. It's not like it was the first time I had a problem with the machine.

Whirlpool inefficient technicians

Dear All,
This is the recent complaint I send to Whilpool India.

Dear All,

My name is Renil John and I have a Whirlpool washing machine bought 2 and half years before, Model:Sensation Deluxe, Model No.10124.
I have faced many technical errors in the above model washing machine since 2 and half years and it seems as you dont have efficient technicians in all Kerala who knows this model well.

I have contacted all the service centers in Kollam Dist., Kerala. I got the same result from all the technicians that "We dont have any idea about this model".

I was little bit surpriced in this matter. If you are not giving enough training to all technicians then why you want to sell these models in Kerala.

If I am wrong, then please give the contact details of skilled technician, who can recognize the problem and repair this.

Regards,

Whirlpool washer

We purchased the Whirlpool Duet model number WFW9400SW01 washer and had it installed in November of 2009 (16 months ago) and today I found out that the Motor Control Board needs to be replaced at a cost of $365 just for the part! Also, of course, have to pay to have the problem diagnosed, which was today, and for the return service call to have the part put in. It will, most likely total near $500 and this is to repair a washer that is 16 months old! Can you believe that?! I called Whirlpool in the hopes that they would consider paying for the part and it was an absolute "no"! I did not purchase the extended warranty and still, after this, wouldn't really consider an extended warranty since they are so pricey - around $269+. I am now in the market for a new washer but will have a difficult time since Whirlpool makes so many washers. They bought out Maytag so even if Maytag washers are "good" they will still be backed by Whirlpool. Whirlpool also makes appliances for Sears (Kenmore) and others. Today it is off to the laundramat while I ponder my next move - one thing I know for certain is that I will stay clear of Whirlpool appliances because the company does not believe in backing their products - such a shame too since they are based in Michigan, my home state!
