This washer was purchased as part of a set in January, 2024. No extended warranty was purchased as my previous set was Whirlpool and it lasted 14 years. I am a single senior so my laundry is light loads maybe 2 times a week. In September, 2025, the door locked and would not open. I tried the troubleshooting recommended on Youtube with no luck. Called my repairman, he tried troubleshooting, also with no luck. He tried to order the part needed from a parts warehouse and was told the part was too new and they didn't stock it. He called the Whirlpool Manufacturer the next morning and the tech he spoke to said they were aware of the problem with my model washer. When asked why a recall had not been issued, the tech said, the issue had not reached that level of concern. My repairman called me to say it would be $458 (before taxes) to repair the machine and that Whirlpool would not assist in the cost of the repair. He suggested I call Whirlpool as the consumer to see if I could get a different answer. I did call but was told the same thing. They would not pay for the cost of the repair. Now I am faced with paying $458 to repair a washer that is less than 2 years old and cost $678 when purchased or buying a completely new unit. I opted to repair the washer.
Claimed loss: PART $289.00 ([protected]--Main Circuit Board)LABOR 169.00TAX 37.30TOTAL $495.70
Desired outcome: Reimburse cost of part and labor as I believe Whirlpool should stand behind their products and the parts used in their products if they wish to maintain their consumer's trust.
