I paid my bill late. The check hit one day before my money. They said they would re-present the check but couldn't tell me when. After I kept the money in there 1o working days I recalled them and they said just to 'wait" this was on a Thursday Mar 24th. I received a call Saturday March 26th saying the check was re-presented Mar 25th and bounced again. (which it hadn't, the funds were there and my bank verified this) but I still did a check over the phone with them that saturday to satisfy the debt. This Tuesday the money was still there and I called them again and they said a generic check had been mailed to my bank from their collectors and that it might take more time. Today Wed Mar 30th It cost me 22.50 to stop payment on the original check and I had to pay 10.00 more to do the check over the phone. I hate being lied to and is this a good way to do business? I am old and disabled. I think this was strictly cruel.
Why tell me they re-presented the check on a friday and dun me on a saturday? They told me 10 days after my check bounced that their records showed I'd paid the bill on time. I called them because I looked at my bank records the day before the payment was to hit and discovered I had insuffcient funds. I called them and they said don't worry we'll re-present the check. When they said they did, they lied, they hadn't so I had to go through the expenditure of stopping the first check or who knows when they would have re-presented it? I certainly don't. I was the first time I've ever had a check bounce and was worried about its affect on my mortgage payment. Old and Disabled? Yes it's my mind thats going. I worry too much. But you must work for the bank, you want to place the blame squarely on me for them lying.
