Dear Wells Fargo Management,
I am writing to formally document an incident that occurred at your Middleburg branch involving one of your employees, Henri. I am a 68‑year‑old Black male with long-standing ties to this branch, and I have preferred banking there for many years. On this occasion, I drove an employee of mine—a single father of three—from Jacksonville to Middleburg so he could open a checking account. I chose Middleburg specifically because of the historically respectful service I have received there.
Unfortunately, what we encountered was the opposite. Around 11 a.m., Henri addressed us with a hostile tone, dismissive body language, and an overall attitude that suggested he did not want to assist us. He stated that the branch was too busy and told us we needed to leave and make an appointment, despite the fact that the bank was open until 2 p.m. and the lobby was not busy. His demeanor escalated the tension unnecessarily.
A teller intervened, de‑escalated the situation, and informed us that a 12:30 appointment was available. Shortly afterward—well before noon and with no other clients waiting—we were served by another officer I was familiar with, who handled the matter professionally.
This experience was disappointing, disrespectful, and inconsistent with the standards I expect from Wells Fargo, especially at a branch I have trusted for decades. The employee I brought with me was equally discouraged by the treatment he received.
I am requesting that this incident be reviewed and addressed appropriately. I am prepared to escalate this matter further if needed, including contacting Wells Fargo corporate and other relevant agencies.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely, Eric
Desired outcome: Respect
