U-Haul International defective trailer

On February-- I rented a 6x8 enclosed trailer from the Uhaul dealer at 594Bearses Way in Hyannis Massachusetts. My purpose for the rental was to pick up some seat cushions in New York for my antique car. When I picked up the trailer, the person at the counter could not complete the reservation because the computer was down. They had to rewrite the contract by hand. I agreed to the insurance when they asked if I wanted it. At no time during the transaction was any explanation given to me about proper operation of the trailer, or any safety precautions that I should know. I was not told that a lock should be used to keep the door closed and there are no stickers or other information on the trailer suggesting this either.

At some point on my return from New York, the trailer door opened and my cargo fell out onto the highway. I was not aware that this had happened until further down the road when the state police stopped me to inform me that something had fallen out of the trailer and caused an accident. When I went to the rear of the trailer, the door was open and the cargo missing. The car that was following behind me was unable to avoid hitting the seat cushions when they fell out and damaged his vehicle when he ran over them. He had to have his vehicle towed because it couldn't be driven. The state police provided my information to the driver who contacted me the next day. He stated that what he ran over did extensive damage to the underside of his vehicle including the radiator, cooling system, transmission lines and bumper moldings.

When I returned the trailer the next morning and explained what had happened, the rental agent did not inspect the trailer but gave me the contact information for Western Republic. I called and opened claim #[protected] with them. I was told they would do an investigation and get back to me. It's very interesting that Uhaul and Western Republic are part of the same corporation. Isn't this a conflict of interest? They never called me back so I called them. I was told that there was no defect with the trailer so they were not accepting any liability for the accident and I would have to go through my insurance company to pay the damage claim. They also told me because they found no defect that they weren't responsible for the damage to my cargo either. I asked how they determined that there was no defect and was told that they looked at the rentals prior to and subsequent to my rental and found no complaints. Are you kidding me! This is how you investigate a defect? What was the insurance that I took out supposed to cover? They had no answer when I asked if the latch wasn't defective, how did the door open on its own. They made some half baked remark about something to do with the distance I drove. The lack of depth of the "investigation" flabbergasted me. This was not an accurate measure of liability or way of determining a defect. Quite possibly previous renters have not hit the same type of bump that I did. Were these previous rentals local and driven at slower speeds over in-town roads, or used on highways at higher speeds where bumps have a more exaggerated effect? They cannot say that looking at the prior and subsequent rentals is an accurate way of comparing like situations and determining if a defect exists. Being totally frustrated with their attitude, I requested a written explanation of their determination. Attached is Western Republic's response to my request for documentation on their decision to deny liability for the defective door latch.

Not happy with Western Republic's response, I called Uhaul's customer service. They put me on hold for ten minutes and then came back on the line and told me there was nothing they could do for me. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told that he would tell me the same thing so there was no reason to connect me. I had to ask repeatedly for the name of a person in a management position in Uhaul that I could have review my situation. They finally gave me the name of Thomas Snell. I called him and explained what had happened. Mr. Snell initially said that Uhaul had already investigated the claim and didn't know what else he could do. After hearing all the facts, he decided to investigate further, but didn't say exactly what that investigation would entail. I have not had a reply back yet from Mr. Snell and he does not return my phone calls.

It should not become my liability for a situation that was out of my control due to a latch is definitely worn and defective with no mechanism to prevent it from popping open. I also believe that I should not have my perfect driving record tarnished and have to pay surcharges on my future insurance policies because of this defective latch. I have also lost my seat cushions which were in mint original condition and irreplaceable.

I sent all this information to Mr. Shoen, the CEO of Uhaul. Lets see what he has to say. No results from him and I'm off to court.
Please respond back to me that you have received this and also with your findings.

You state "a latch is definitely worn and defective with no mechanism to prevent it from popping open." Every U-haul trailer has holes on the latch to put a lock. The lock is your responsibility to provide. Some-U-haul sites even sell locks. With the light weight load you put in that 6 x 8 trailer it was probably bouncing all over the road and that unsecured latch opened. Regardless, it is your responsibility to make sure your trailer and its contents were secure. Same thing if you put the car seats on your roof racks and didn't tie them down.

I got suckered by the $19.95 a day rental ad plastered all over their rental vehicles. Only fter scheduling a delivery, I learned there is not only a $.79 per mile charge, you also have to fill the tank, lest you be charged another $30. So, my 35.5 mile rental ended up costing me 4 times as much as the $19.95 - yes I was charged a whoppping $80 for a what...

U-Haul International trailer leaks and insurance denial

I rented a trailer from U-Haul which leaked and damaged several items. The leak and damage was reported at drop off. I filed an insurance claim which involved a great deal of paperwork, photographs etc. Two months later the claim was denied on the grounds that no problems were found. The soaking items taken from the trailer were not evidence. I was pretty much being called a lair and that no water damage took place. I have witnesses and I have a bookshelf that I won't use due to its appearance. U-Haul through its insurance agent denied the claim not based on evidence but because they will suffer no consequence by doing so. If there was no water damage then I am guilt of insurance fraud by filing a claim. If there was water damage then they should offer some reimbursement. How many times have we seen this insurance scam. U-Haul is responsible for the actions of its agents. So long as there is a choice I will not choose U-Haul again and will urge others to look elsewhere

U-Haul International early drop off no reinbursment

I reserved a 14' moving truck for pick up on 9/18/10 and drop off on 9/20/10 through U-Hauls website: www.uhaul.com. When we got to the pick up site in Dodgeville Wi I asked if we did not need the truck on Sunday/Monday could I drop the truck off early and get a refund for the days I did not use it. I was told by JoAnn at the pick up location (dropping off in La Crosse Wi) that yes they would adjust the amount automatically from my CC. I dropped off the truck on Sunday 9/19/10 at the Feista Ct location in La Crosse--of course it was not open so I wrote down what day and time I brought it back and asked for the refund of the extra day. On Monday, 9/20/10, I called the La Crosse location to verify that there would be a refund for the one day, of course I was told no by this dealer. I then proceeded to contact U-Haul's customer service, which was a joke. I spoke with a Mark in customer service, he was nice but not willing to do anything about it. I had to open up a review case so that they could check into it but no garuntee that anything would be done. He gave me some song and dance aobut how the reservation was for 2 days and to bring back early would not constitue for a refund. I have now reported U-Haul to the Better Business Bureau and will no longer rent from them. I will give them the garuntee that I will be spreading my story to others. Just maybe by word of mouth by unhappy customers they will get the picture that they have a long way to go with working with customers.

U-Haul International Assualted by Employee

I live near this U Haul facility, THe employees use the sidewalks as streets driving down them instead of on the actual street, they break the traffic laws constantly driving on the wrong side of the street as well. One day I saw an employee driving a truck down the sidewalk honking his horn over and over as a terrified group of small schoolchildren was walking down the sidewalk in front of him, they were screaming as the truck bore down upon them. So I took photos, the employee did not like this so he got out of the truck and came over and assaulted me, Hitting me on my head and arms until I fell into the street unable to get up. Several other employees pulled him off of me. upon contacting the manager and the police, the employee and two other employees fabricated statements claiming I had assaulted him first. All letters were written in the same format using the same phrases, obviously coordinated by U Haul managers. I of course never hit him once, threw anything at him.. He was enraged that I had photos of him terrifying the school kids. Unfortunately no witnesses to bak me up. The U Haul employees continue to violate every traffic law on the books, park all over the sidewalks and drive down them. See photos.

On Sunday afternoon I looked up uhaul 's that were opened to transport items from Georgetown to Mt Pleasant. Drove to Daniels Island to find out you can't take a trailer more than 50 miles unless it is one way, although the website did not clearly state this (I was going 60 miles). Called the Uhaul in Georgetown, gas station attendant stated she didn't know if they even had trailers since she could only see trucks from the window. She was extremely rude and states the person handling the uhauls would not be back for a few hours. Then I drove to Downtown CHarleston, King street after calling to make sure they had a trailer and arrived at 4:57. They stated they closed at 5 and would not help us. After 3 attempts and 2 hours we were not able to get a trailer. I will not be using uhaul again and advise others to find somewhere else for their moving needs.

U-haul stores just rent and sell U-haul products, have experts working there and are not bad. Most gas stations that rent U-hauls have gas station attendants with just enough training to get your trailer or truck paperwork filled out and quick hook you up. But you can't show up three minutes before they close on a Sunday and expect them to serve you. Next time you rent a trailer, say you're using it local but make sure you return it to the same place you rented it from and before they close. Otherwise you'll get charged for another days rent.

U-Haul International no refund policy

My father rented a truck and dolly from U-haul to move to Atlanta, Georgia. an expensive move for which he paid up front. He packed the truck, hooked his car to the dolly, came to my house to say goodbye to my babies. Then he went in the bathroom and had a massive stroke. He remained completely paralyzed and semi-conscious in the hospital from october to may 2nd, 2010. when he passed away. My sisters and I had the truck unloaded and returned immediately after the stroke but U-haul gave us the runaround for weeks before finally offering a 100 gift card in exchange for my father's $1500 payment. I understand that U-haul has a no refund policy included in small print in the signed contract but I do believe that this should only be enforced when the customer willingly changes his mind about the use of the truck.

Most car & truck rental companies have the same 'refund clause' on the contract. It goes to show that thoroughly reading the contract pays. Most people just 'reserve' the vehicle, without 'reserving the time' to read the rental contract thoroughly.
Sorry to hear about your father. That is most tragic.

U-Haul International the manager is very rude

I dropped off a 17 foot in st augustine stores address was 3524 US 1 South. The manager is very rude. I have never meet anyone manager that is rude to her customers like she was... Someone needs to really screen there managers better than just hire them off the street I asked her how long she has been with U-Haul she said a couple months. The staff that was there in June when I dropped off my daughters U-Haul. That manager and staff was awesome. Very Kind...

On 3/12/14 I had a tractor trailer deliver 470 boxes. The men were unloading the truck to the 3rd floor. There I had 2 rooms, 3404 and 3622.The row of rooms where mine was had very little air conditioning, it was so hot we were all perspiring.I Then went down to talk to the so-called manager.I explained to him in a nice way that it was very uncomfortable to work up there. He told me that he was working on a car and that he would be up as soon as possible.Well we waited about a half an hour.I went down to remind he about the hot air.I then started to argue with him, since being nice did not work.I told him that I was going to report him to his superiors, he then sarcastically, put his hands in a prayer position like to beg me not to report him.We then got into an argument.he cursed at me and I cursed at him.He should have acted in a professionally manner.Ten minutes later he came up stairs to see what was wrong, he did nothing. This man should not be a manager, he does not know how to treat customers. He is nasty and rude.I expect some kind of compensation. And I would like to have a hearing. His name is Russ Baldwin. He works at u-Haul Moving@Storage of Hunters Creek.13301 S. U-Haul International fraudulent company

On 8/23/09 I rented a 14' truck from the Thomson Ave, Ventura Ca site.which is close to my new residence. While driving the approximately 50 miles to my former residence the truck lost one of its tie rods, which droped to the ground. I called the emergency number and over an hour later they sent a mechanic. The mechanic reconnected the tie rod and told us to go on with the move. This I would not do. I took the truck back to Ventura very slowly. You could see the wheels wobble. The Thompson Location gave me a $75 credit, which was less than half what that day had cost me. I paid 3 workers $155.00 for sitting along side the road and almost getting in a acident. It was only luck that they were not hit as the driver had no steering control and we were on a busy freeway. I paid $30.00 in gas. On The 25th I rented a one-way truck from Parthenia Ave, Northridge, CA site. When I tried to use the $75.00 credit, they informed me I only had a credit of $24.32 credit.

U-Haul International overcharged then almost assualted me when I called him on his scam

On mar 18, 2010 my mother and I rented a uhaul from verde vally uhaul located at 27 west gen crook trail camp verde, az 86322. We rented a 17ft truck and returned it the same afternoon. When we returned the truck your worked told us we drove the truck for 47 miles and was going to charge us for that mileage. We then told him that has to be a mistake. He looked at the paperwork again and then changed it to 36 miles. Which was also incorrect as the storage we drove the truck to is less then 5 miles away from your store. While only making one trip. (Her house is less then 5 miles from the store as well)

Your worker insisted the computer never lies and that's too bad as this is what the odometer read. We tried to explain to him the route we took and that there is a mistake somewhere. He put his feet on the table and reminded us the computer never lies and to pay the money. He then said he has been doing this for 13 years and refused to listen to us. I then asked him if he has been ripping people off for the 13 years. He then stood up and briskly walked over to me in a very confrontational/threatening manner and told me to 'get out'. He slammed the door at my face as I was walking out almost hitting me. Lucky for me I moved out of the way. Actually lucky for him and uhaul as I have no issues filing assualt charges against him and your company. Not to mention fraud charges. I felt he was trying to injure me. If he did manage to do what he wanted to do, the force would have bruised my face and probably broke the skin on my face as well. I was this close on calling the police for the overcharge and assualt. I should have.

I went to the car and waited. 10 minutes later my mother and your worker come out to tell me he made a mistake in the math and did overcharge us. Apparently the owner wrote down the wrong number from the odometer when we picked up the truck in the morning and did finally corrrect his mistake. Come to find out we did only drive 17 miles. Which is far from the initial 47 then 36 miles he was overcharging us for. Lets just make up numbers shall we?!?

Is this what it takes to make sure your company is honest?

EVERYBODY HAS bad days at work. Even you and me. No one's perfect. It's human nature. You rubbed him the wrong way as I see it. Should have let him hit ya, both you and your attorney would have been laughing all the way to the bank. People need to learn patience. Instead of jumping all over each other. That guy especially.

U-Haul International overcharges

I rented truck from a u-haul agent on centennial ave. in cranford, nj and was overcharged. I drove the truck 2 miles within the same town I rented the truck from and was charged for putting over 180 miles on the truck. The truck was returned within four hours of renting. The following day the truck was rented by someone else and u-haul never checked the mileage. They are giving me a hard time getting my refund. This is theft. Do not use this rental agency unless the manager is available to clock you in and out and double check the mileage.

I just had the same instance last week. I rented the truck from a woodbridge, VA location and they were very nice people to deal with, an I got the truck for "One Way Rental". They gave me an initial 34Miles and then additional 16Miles which gives me the total of 50Miles. I went from the Uhaul location at woodbridge to the place where i'm moving from and that was 5.3Miles and it was around 2:42 pm; I loaded up everything that needs to go to my Hayattsville MD apartment (Ex: Large furniture). I finished loading around 7:48 pm and headed to Hayattsville and it was around 36Miles (taking 395 and going through DC New York Ave etc...) so the total so far is lets say around 42Miles. From there I parked the truck at the loading dock which took me an hour to reach and went to have dinner because I skipped lunch and I had no more strength on me and needed to rest. I got back from Outback around 10 pm and started unloading my belongings and the loading dock wasn't a typical one that is close to the elevator, but it was more of a MAZE and had to walk a lot to get to the freight elevator. I was done unloading probably around 2:11 AM and before I dropped off the truck I put together a couple of things like the bed, tables etc... and was on my out to drop off the truck around 3:03 AM and did the overnight drop off at the Takoma Park, MD location around 3:20 A.M and it was 3.1Miles away from my MD apartment. Overall I did around 46-47 Miles and still was below the allowance and after a week I checked my bank account and I found out that they I had driven 160Miles and was overcharged. Can you believe that? I bet you can, and this was my first time renting a truck of any sort. I called and filed a claim and I got a call back from someone the same day and to my surprise she said they will not issue a refund for the overcharge because I have driven all those miles even though I have rented the truck "One Way" and because it was an overnight drop off they can pretty much do whatever they want because there is no one there to see the truth except me and GOD. It is really disappointing to see how low and desperate people are getting to make a quick buck. Just Imagine I didn't have the funds for the overcharge which was close to $50 and then end up with an overdraft fee and so on... Now I'm waiting for the lovely lady who ruined my day to fax me over the paperwork for the odometer reading of the next person who rented the same truck, I wouldn't be surprised to see some foul play because as I said "people would do anything for a quick buck". I think there should be a better system to this overnight drop off box S**T because being taken advantage of is not something pleasing and I'm the type of person who tries to do everything accordingly and truthfully. Even if you take the truck to the drop off location and take pictures of the odometer and record it on a piece of paper they will have the opportunity to take advantage because there is no proof, they could say well you take the picture and then continue driving and there are so many excuses and UHUAL can have their way. The Lovely lady told me "Why didn't you drive it and handed it to someone when they are open?" Then why do you have those overnight Key Drop off boxes and on top of that I forgot my GPS windshild mounting thing as well. I will rent again from UHaul but for all of you out there do not trust or go with the overnight drop off box option because they will eat you up alive.

NO MORE OVERNIGHT DROP OFFS A LESSON WELL LEARNED

U-Haul International double-charged and manager never called back

Very Bad customer service! Never rent UHAUL. Use other companies. I was double charged, it took me 2 days to get in touch with Alburn, Al location and the manager - Wes, was supposed to call me in 30 min to resolve this issue. Well, I'm waiting for his call about 3 days already. Noone called, nothing is resolved. I can't get in touch with them because line is busy or I'm on hold for 1 hour. I can't quit my job and just be on hold all day long. Noone works in that location, noone does their jobs. Just couple stupid guys up there including manager.

I rented a 26 ft. uhaul to move in state. Got the truck loaded and pulled out to leave and my son noticed a buldge in the back inside tire. We were stuck on the road for over 4 hours waiting for someone to come change it. If the people renting had done their inspection like they were required to we never would have had the problem. It was cold, we couldn't use the restroom or get anything to eat because we had to stay with the truck per Uhaul. After I contacted customer service they got me into contact with a man named Troy who said he would reimburse 1/2 of the fee and he would process that as soon as he got back to the office. One week later I hadn't heard anything so I contacted him again. He said he had been busy and said he was only allowed to refund $75.00 which was less than 1/4 of the fee. As of today I have been to his manager and he is still saying the same thing but offered $75.00 in coupons to use Uhaul again. I will never use this company to move nor will I ever recommend them to anyone. Their business practices are unethical and demean the customer.

I've used U-Haul and other rental trucks for previous moves, but I'm tired of the rates, the dangerous condition of some trucks, having to drive the damn things in small neighborhood streets, and waiting in long lines every single time I try to rent a truck (even ones I've reserved in advance). My neighbors just moved in with Door To Door Storage, one of those companies like PODS that puts containers our front, and they said it was super easy. One thing that was great for them (although a bit unsightly for us), was that they could unload the containers pretty much at their leisure, not having to rush the truck back.

Revently I rented a truck from Uhaul - in addition to the very rough customer service they have, they printed me a wrong initial odometer millage reading in my receipt, and charged me for many more miles. My fault, infact was, trusting them and not cross checking the millage of the car with the print out - when the guy walked out and checked the truck, I assumed that he made sure of everything- but not - he deliberatly let that happen to take more of my money. SO DO NOT TRUST THE CRAPPY CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSONNELS. ALWAYS D ONT TRUST THEM, AND CHECK EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF THEIR LOT. OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE HARASED AND HARSHLY TREATED BY THEM!

I was very disappointed with the way my reservation was handled. We reserved almost a month in advance and were told the day before the move that equipment was unavailable because the "reservation was pulled." We were depending on this company and they let us down. As a result, we have found another company and want to warn others about this incident with u-haul so that they can choose a different service as well. DO NOT DEPEND ON UHAUL !

This is a complaint that I wrote about Uhaul in 2017. At the time, I didn't know about this website, so I didn't post here. Just this past week, a co-worker had a similar experience with Uhaul, so I dug up my old letter to share it here. Nothing was ever done about my complaint.

Iam writing to express my disappointment with the services that I received from Uhaul within the past week. On Friday, June 1, 2017, I called to reserve a 26’ moving van. This being my first time renting from Uhaul, I was not aware that it may take several days for the equipment to become available. This did not cause an immediate problem, but the problem is that Uhaul does not make it clear that it could possibly take days to locate equipment.

The reason for my move is that I was starting a new job on Monday June 4, 2017. Had I known up front that it would be Monday before I got a moving truck, I would have paid extra to rent from another company that had plenty of trucks on their lot. Because I wasn’t able to get a truck until Monday, I was forced to start my job two days late, which did not go over well with my new employer.

More importantly, I would like to make you aware of the incident that occurred on the Sunday prior to me receiving the equipment. Since it was imperative that I move as soon as possible, I drove around town looking for Uhaul store that had a 26’ truck on their lot. When I found one, I called the regional office at [protected] and informed them. The operator told me that she did not have particular truck in her computer, so it must not have been checked in. As I walked inside the store, I met the attendant outside who told me that the truck was not reserved by anyone and that she would rent it to me. She told me to come inside and wait in line.

As I waited, I learned that the four customers ahead of me all wanted to rent smaller trucks, so I was sure that I would be able to begin moving that day. Unfortunately, the attendant rented the 26’ one-way truck to a customer in line ahead of me who was only moving locally. I reminded the attendant that she had told me that I could have that truck and that I have a reservation. She told me that that customer’s reserved truck had not yet been turned in and that she had called her manager, who told her to rent the 26’ truck to the customer. She then checked the computer for my reservation and told me that it had not yet been downloaded to her computer. I offered her my reservation number, but she said it didn’t matter because it wasn’t in the computer at all.

The problem with this is:
The attendant rented the truck to another customer AFTER it was promised to me.
The attendant did not even bother to tell me “Ma’am, I will have to rent this truck to someone else, because her truck is not in. I apologize for the inconvenience, but my manager says this is what I have to do.”
There were other trucks on the lot that she could have rented to the customer, but she chose to rent the one she had promised to me.
She lied and said that she had called her manager and the manager advised her to rent the truck. At no point while I was there, did she speak to a manager on the phone. I was watching and listening the whole 45 minutes that I waited in line.
I understand that it is Uhaul’s right to upgrade a customer to a larger truck if a smaller one is unavailable, but when this is done at the expense of another customer, it becomes unethical.
My reservation was not in the computer. Was this an oversight? Why was my reservation not in the computer?

Upon leaving the store, I called the 800# again. I believe I spoke to Sharon . I explained the situation to her, and she stated that the customer’s reservation was made before mine and even though the 26’ truck was promised to me, they still had to give it to someone else. I asked for a number to call to make a complaint and was given the number to Uhaul International [protected]). After remaining on hold for 17 minutes, a male representative came on the phone and asked for my name, reservation number, and phone number, and asked if my problem was “unavailable equipment”. He took no other information from me and informed me that someone would be calling me back within two hours. No one called me back at all, in reference to my complaint.

As I sat in my car feeling helpless and mistreated, I decided to call the regional office back, to see if something could be done to rectify the situation, because it was imperative that I move immediately. Again, I believe it was Sharon that I spoke to. I explained to her that I did not feel it was right that the store clerk rented a truck that she had verbally promised me, and that I did not believe that this was Uhaul’s standard practice and procedure, taking a truck that was promised to one customer to give it to the next. I understood that the other customer’s truck was not available, but since there were other trucks on the lot, I did not think that it was fair since I was present in the store. I also did not feel like I should have to suffer because my reservation was not in the computer. At this point, Sharon began to raise her voice at me and told me that I could “…either wait, or she could cancel my reservation!” I asked her, “Why are you raising your voice at me?” She said, “I’m not raising my voice, YOU are the one who’s trying to talk over me!” I said, “No, I’m not.” She said, “Have a nice day, ma’am.” She then hung up the phone in my face! Again, I was left feeling helpless and in tears, in the presence of my child. I understand that the representative may have been frustrated with me calling, but this is absolutely no way to treat a customer, or any other human being. This was totally unprofessional. Moving was a big deal for me and Uhaul made the experience a nightmare.

I implore you to PLEASE go back and review the tape of this conversation. You will find that your representative was completely out of line.

I then called the international number again, to make another complaint. I spoke with Francisco and Diane. They told me that I would have to call the regional office in order to speak to management directly. They gave me this number: [protected]. This number only connected me to the person that I was complaining about. I did speak with her again. She told me that she was the reservation manager. I stated that I did not wish to discuss reservations and that I would like to speak with someone who manages the reservation managers. She gave me the name of Virginia Romo, but stated that she will not be in the office until 8:30am Monday morning. Later that evening, I received notice that a reservation had been made for the following morning, so I did not proceed to contact Ms. Romo, as I needed to go ahead and move as soon as possible.

I am extremely disappointed with the service that I have received from Uhaul. To me, the name Uhaul was synonymous with professionalism and excellence. When I needed to move, Uhaul was the first company that I called. Initially, I was impressed with your rates and mileage allowance, which gives you an edge over the competition. On the contrary, the service that I received has tainted that image, making it worth the extra money to go with another company. I will never use Uhaul again. As a result of my experience, I also will not recommend your company to anyone else, and will more than likely share this horrible experience with many others. A friend has suggested that I post my complaint on www.planetfeedback.com, as well as other venues, and I am seriously considering it. Uhaul has made a very bad impression on me and has ruined what was supposed to be a fresh start in a new city .

People that have made complaints about Uhaul have a right to be upset uhaul will do anything to get ur money, if u own a storage and u owe them, they will charge credit cards, checking accounts and debit cards it has happened to me when I did a friend a favor and paid their storage once, also when u rent a truck from them they also charge u for a piece of paper in the truck I was charged $25 they considered the truck dirty, I had the truck for 5 hour rental I was charged 2 days with the truck for being 15 minutes past due not only that I was charged for gas meanwhile I was given the truck at 1/4 of gas I brought it back at half a tank, then they wanted to charge me almost $408 for someone elses rental they claim someone else returned the truck but it was never checked in, like that was my problem, the customer service there was very rude and intolerable they stand behind their counter and hold a whole conversation about their love lives, and getting married to even talk about sex mind u I have my 4 yr old daughter there! This Uhaul needs a whole new staff, even a new manager I wanted to speak to him and he's rarely there it seems I called the cell number at the door and he hangs up the last time I go to that Uhaul center at Riverdale

My husband and I were moving to Tucson. We went to Uhaul to have a hitch installed on our Cadillac Sedan De Ville 2017. When the work was done, and we were ready to drive out, we found two of the windows were not working.

We approached the man installing the hitch, he denied he has anything to do with it but one fact is clear, we drove a perfectly good vehicle in and after the installation of the hitch, found two windows not working, unable to be rolled up.

We drove to a carshop and was informed the regulators of both windows were broken. His estimate was $1125.98. We drove back to Uhaul. The manager until then very friendly was hostile and cold. She denied responsibility for it and walked inside, leaving my husband and I to wait in the store. We waited and waited and waited for well over an hour. I knew she wanted us to go away and I was as determined not to go away. One of the employees told us to go to the Cadillac agency in town, they can fixed it less. We left, with me threatening to bring it to the top.

That must change the manager's attitude because she phoned us when we were at the dealership and told us she filed a claim with their insurance company. I was naively and greatly relieved, the insurance will cover the repairs.

I phoned the number given me and was told to go ahead with the repairs, keep the papers and file it with the file number given me. I did that and waited. Nothing. Finally I phoned, and was put to the supervisor who told me our claim has been denied because Uhaul said installing a hitch has nothing to do with broken windows. But the fact remain, we drove a perfectly good vehicle into their shop and drove out with two broken windows which costs us $1189.31 to repair.

If you like being spoken to with offensive language of sexual origin go to Peter St. U -Haul in Atlanta. I went to Castleberry Hill's Art Crawl last Friday night (May 14th, 2017) only to be verbally assaulted by a man U-Haul leases their parking lot to for evening events in this area. The offensive and crass language this man used with me in front of U-Haul customers and my colleagues was unforgiveable. I immediately reported this incident to the manager on duty at the time and was promised it would be reported to the operations manager Mr. John Bricks and that he would be giving me a call. Four days later I still had no call from Mr. Bricks so I attempted to reach Mr. Bricks and was told this message was given to him the day after the incident. This which tells me nothing other than this behavior is condoned by U-Haul and Mr. Bricks. This location is accepting money from an individual who is profiting from their property and no regards to the manner he speaks to women. The profanity he used with me was of sexual origin and in no way acceptable behavior. Is U-Haul so desperate for money (from a local parking lot guy who doesn’t even appear to have a real company) they are now allowing this type of behavior on their property during their open business hours? Not only are they allowing it but they are getting paid by this individual to profit from them! This supposed parking attendant’s parking lot receipts had no company name nor a phone number listed on the ticket. If your car was damaged or towed who would you call? The answer is you would call U-Haul. U-Haul is going to have to accept some sort of responsibility here.

We rented an uhaul truck from Brandon Florida. The sales person that rented the truck to us showed us a fuel gauge on the computer screen. The gauge showed it was 3/4 full; we drove the truck straight to Sarasota. After removing a dresser and twin bed we went to Hess gas station, and put $16.00 in the truck. The gauge read a hair above 3/4 full; I then drove the truck to uhaul five minutes away. When I arrived at uhaul it was 7:15 and the gauge showed 3/4 full. I put the keys in a drop box while a person closed the door. He directed me to drop the keys in the drop box; he would not take the keys himself. A few days later my wife checked her card and there was a charge for $54.00 on our card. When we called them to find out what the charge was for they stated that it was a fuel charge for not returning the truck with the same amount of gas as when we took off from Brandon. The employee insisted I was lying and was trying to screw them. And that they were not going to refund the charge of 54.00 to our credit card.

U-Haul International terrible service

I will never rent from UHaul again. If I need a trailer, I will buy one and sell when I am done. The last time I reserved a truck, I got a phone call on the day of my move. I had to drive 40 miles to pick one up, even though there was a dealer in town. The truck broke down. I was left at a fleabag hotel. It was 9:00 pm the next day before the truck was fixed. After I got back on the road, Iwas pulled over because the tail lights on the UHaul trailer were not working. Before I returned the truck, the brakes and power steering were begining to fail. I was not fully reimbursed for the hotel room. They will only pay $50. Never mind the fact that they chose the hote. Then I was charged for extra miles that I would not have driven if the piece of junk had not been towed 40 miles in the wrong direction. If that was not bad enough, the uhaul employee said, "Of course these trucks break down. Renters don't treat them very well." In other word, it was my fault. Then, when I complained, I was offered $100 worth of uhaul junk. The breakdown would not have been so bad if I had not been treated so badly.

I rented the truck on 3/31/08 and the truck had shifting problems and it caused some damages to some very valuable things of mine. I reported it to the person in charge at the uhaul place and they refusing to compensate me for my merchandise damaged. I filed a complaint with the insurance Co and it's been months and I have not gotten any satisfaction from the Ajuster.

To whom it may concern,

I have used U Haul for many years without any problems. This last move I used the additional service of hired help to load the truck. Once I reached my destination and unloaded the truck, I was shocked at all the damaged to my furniture...which is brand new and the total damage of so many priceless belongings I have owned for years, as well.
I called to complain about these damages and spoke to a Mr. Bell, who told me to photograph all of these damages, which I have...but I am still unable to connect with someone to continue with what needs to be done. Mr. Bell gave me this address to e-mail...MONROEQUINCY@AOL.COM. This is for apartments.
Then he gave me this addy: Big Newton Movers, PC, Fl.
The truck was leased on September 25. I initially paid $225 for two men to load the truck. I had every boxed, things taken apart like the bed and everything stored in the living room to save time. I ended up having to pay these guys another $85 in cash and a check for $225.
Their payment code was 468408.
The number I have been trying to connect is [protected]...without success.
Would you please help me in directing me who I can connect with to take care of my damages. I paid for the insurance and this was verified my U Haul.
You may write me to the address stated above.
Thank you.

U-Haul International horror story

We rented a 26' truck from U-Haul, one month prior to our scheduled move from New York to Dallas on November 28 2009. I had made all the arrangements with the movers and my husband had made an arrangement to buy a car in Dallas on the day of our arrival. The people who are selling us their car were moving to another state but they've decided to wait for a couple of more days until we arrive so that they can sell their car. On Friday at 5pm (about 15 hours prior to the scheduled delivery time, and right after everything closes) U-Haul gives us a call to say that they don't have a truck for Saturday but we can get it for Sunday. We are moving from an office building and the freight elevators on Sunday are closed unless you make prior arrangements. Friday at 5pm we had no time to make these arrangements and now our move is automatically scheduled for two days later which is the Monday right after Black Friday weekend where it will be impossible to park the truck near the freight entrance because of the volume of delivery trucks on busy Monday mornings.

I have looked at uhaul reviews on the internet and saw that many people posted similar comments. I should have looked at those before. I hope someone else reads this before making their decision with U-Haul.

U-Haul International bait and switch scam

U-Haul should be prohibited from even using the term "Customer Service." Their customer service reps are arrogant, rude, argumentative, grossly incompetent, unhelpful and, frankly, the dumbest bunch I've ever dealt with. U-Haul has no hiring standards. If there were justice in the world, this company would be out of business.

The customer is always wrong, you appear to be bothering these people by calling, you have to call twice to confirm even the slightest information and you are more likely to be insulted than helped.

Do a favor to those companies that actually care about their customers. Please don't rent from companies like U-Haul.

ANYONE renting from these company's, is most likely being EVICTED OUT of their residential Apt or duplex unit. Most people living in condominiums or owner's of small homes,
CAN afford to pay 'legitimate moving company's' to move their belongings for them.
