To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to express my disappointment and frustration regarding T-Mobile's decision to retire my grandfathered Sprint Unlimited Everything plan.
I have been a loyal Sprint customer since 2001. When Sprint merged with T-Mobile, customers were repeatedly informed that our existing plans would be grandfathered. That assurance played a significant role in my decision to remain a customer after the merger. I believed that T-Mobile would honor the commitments made to long-time Sprint customers.
Over the years, however, I have watched my monthly bill gradually increase through various fees and charges. Now, on June 29, 2026, I received a text message stating that, effective July 13, 2026, my current phone plan is being retired and that my monthly cost will increase by up to $6 per line. While the message mentions additional benefits and a five-year price guarantee, it does not change the fact that I am being forced off the very plan that I was told would be grandfathered.
To me, this raises an important question: If a company can simply retire a grandfathered plan and require customers to move to a more expensive one, then what did "grandfathered" actually mean? The expectation created during the Sprint and T-Mobile merger was that loyal customers would be able to keep the plans they had earned through years of service.
The addition of a five-year price guarantee also raises concerns. What happens after those five years? If prices can increase once the guarantee expires, then this offers little long-term reassurance to customers who have already remained loyal for more than two decades.
This issue is not simply about an increase of a few dollars per line. It is about trust. After more than 25 years as a customer, I expected T-Mobile to honor both the spirit and the intent of the promises made during the merger. Instead, this decision makes me feel that the loyalty of former Sprint customers has been overlooked.
I respectfully ask T-Mobile to reconsider this decision and allow long-time legacy Sprint customers to remain on their existing plans or provide an equivalent plan at the same monthly cost without requiring us to pay more. At the very least, I ask for a clear explanation of why customers who were assured their plans would be grandfathered are now being required to leave those plans.
Customer loyalty should be recognized and rewarded—not diminished over time. I hope T-Mobile will reconsider this policy and demonstrate that it values the customers who have remained with the company through decades of change.
