Straight Talk Wireless tips for customers

i hope you saw my last comments about youre complains...i just want to let you know that everyone is human, everyone wants to have a job and provide a better life to theyre family there is no need to tell crappy things about the customer care center! they do what they were asign to do!...unfortunatley everyone has to do what theyre boss tell u to do!

now my suggestions!
add youre min on the expiration date ASK THE TIME TO DO IT BEFORE THE TIME OTHERWISE URE PHONE WILL BE DISCONECTED AND THERE IS NO WAY TO HAVE THE NUMBER BACK!

remember that when you have problems to make and received calls or maybe text or signal dial
*22890 *22891 and *22801!

LG 200c doesnt provide picture messages! ive got one of does phones! and i didnt knew that i was unable to use the picture messages!

i recomend samsung! its one of the better options that they have i have one of does now!
and just remember u are not the only one whos calling customer cervice and if u have issue with the phone dont call them from ure cellphone otherwise u will need to call them from a different line and u just waste ure time! and if u will call them from ure cellphone dial *611 because if u dial the 1877 number u will be charge!

Straight Talk Wireless Horrible service - won't activate phone

I spent appx $250 ordering a new phone and 3 months of service directly from StraightTalk and cannot get the phone to work. Three days and counting, all I've been told is that my PIN is no good (it's the PIN they sent with the phone), and then they said it's a network problem and they'll have it fixed in 24 hours. I waited 24 hours -- still nothing. I still haven't been assigned a phone number. I called back again and this time they hung up on me. As near as I can tell, when I call StraightTalk (I have to use a friend's phone to call them), I get put on with someone from India... Three days now, I've used up all my minutes on my old phone, and now I have nothing. StraightTalk is a piece of garbage. I'd be better off with two cans and a piece of string.

Straight talk has been taking out extra payments every other month since
April 2013, I have been on the phone with them for a very long time. Their system shows no extra payment and I was instructed to call my bank. My bank explained that Straight Talk has been taking extra payments out. The bank can only go back thirty days and Straight Talk refuses to resolve the issue. There is a black hole in their accounting and they are the problem. They will not resolve the issue. I urge consumers to check their bank accounts every month.

That must be very frustrating! If you are fed up with talking to Customer Representative, try sending an email at ST.CorpResolutionTeam@straighttalk.com or you can chat with them live. They will be able to assist you immediately. Believe me, I've tried it, and I was satisfied.

Looks like I am in for a great scam with ST. I went thru an hour of form filling and info providing and got a message my phone will be activated 24 to 48 hours. After almost 100 hours no activation. I have talked two times with their Chinese agent ( I felt bad I had to tell him to speak clearly so that I could hear what he said) on their help line who promised it will be activated. There is no message otherwise either. Looks like a company for FTC investigation. Now it is probably a fight to get my money back!

I've had straight talk since they first came out. I've never had a problem. I buy the cdma phone so it works off Verizon towers. I didn't get minutes on my phone for like 4 months. I had to get a new number and reactivate it. I did it online and they gave me my new number and said to dial 22890*. I've had to do this a few times over the years of having straight talk. This time it kept giving me the message that my number was invalid and phone not active when dialing the activation number. I waited 24 hours and still no luck. I've never had to wait before when I got new phones or had to reactivate after service ran out. Its always been instantly. I called customers support, told them my problem and that I tried dialing 22890* they went thru a few steps [censored] trying to call my phone? Yes most of the asian accented people with customers support are idiots. They was transfering me to someone else when I got the idea to try *22890 and bam it started activation programming. I dunno why the guy didn't tell me I was dialing wrong code. I don't know if I just read it wrong or it was printed wrong. Maybe a few of you are doinh the same thing. I hope you guys give straight talk another chance because seriously I've had it about 5 yrs and I've never had a problem NEVER except with signal but that was a phone that ran on att towers. Its really crazy to pay high Verizon cost when you can get Verizon service and unlimited data for $45 a month. The big named companies are ripping us off and your basically paying for the name Verizon. I'm a travel nurse and drove from Virginia to Arizona with my straight talk cdma phone and never lost signal even through the desert. I'm never changing companies. I know if u stick with it until u g et whatever problem your having solved and give it a real chance you will not be sorry. Hope some of yall was just doing what I was and this helps you solve it..good luck everyone

Straight talk also markets another plan thru Walmart for unlimited data. What a f***in lie!
After getting a month of failures to open voicemail, failure to get text, Internet, when they finally get it working, they cut us off after ten days, said there was excess usage, and tried to shake us down for more money. And we had paid for two months of UNLIMITED service already.
In the first week of this service not working, they only had run arounds to offer about it not being the phone which was defective, and not being ready to take the phone back. By day fifteen of this ###, they said they do not accept returns on phones after fourteen days.

This is bad faith and utter dishonesty. To think that our government will lock you up if you are caught stealing from Walmart, but they are absolutely licensed to steal from you.
I would encourage anyone to steal anything they can from Walmart; just be f***in careful. Remember, they have a million security cameras on you. Trash the place in any way you can. Leave shopping carts full of frozen food and perishables in the store. Launch a brick through the window. America doesn't need Walmart. Undermine their profitability any way you can. They don't deserve to profit by ripping us off, and attacking their profitability is the only way we can fight back. f*** WALMART

I have had a straight talk ever since it came out. I have had issues both times while activating and reactivating the phone. That being said I can't completely blame the ST support staff. When I initially bought the ST phone package at Walmart I got home and tried to activate it. Waited the 24 hours and nothing. The ST staff was at a loss and so was I. I was ready to throw the phone or bust it with a hammer. Then I found out the reason it would not activate. When you purchase the phone the Walmart cashier has to enter the serial number from the ST phone's box into her register. I'm not sure if they still have to do it that way but 2 years ago they did. Well anyway, the stupid Walmart girl had a typo when she entered the serial number of the ST phone. Due to her doing that the phone would NEVER be able to be activated. I had to return the phone and exchange it for another one. This time it went flawless.
Strike one against Wal-Mart.
After using the phone for a while I got a job where I was given a company phone. I didn't really have to keep adding minutes to the ST phone. Well enough time passed for the ST phone to lose the phone number I originally had due to not keeping minutes on it. I recently parted ways with the company I was working with and decided to reactivate the ST phone rather than pay $15 for 7 days usage on my GoPhone. The $30 ST plan is plenty for me. Well I bought the card 2 nights ago. I added the $30 card to the phone and it would not reactivate and the ST staff kept telling me to wait 24 hours and call back. I waited called back and still nothing. Wouldn't activate. I could see that the phone still had my old number programmed into it and feel that this is where the error was coming from. I spoke with a fellow named Javier that worked with ST support. He had me go through the typical *22890 crap and nothing worked. He took the time to lookup the manual for the phone I was using probably due to it being the first model offered by ST. In Javier's defense, he tried everything and did not stop until I got my phone working. He eventually gave me a couple of long numbers to enter into the Code Entry setting on the phone. After putting in the numbers the phone rebooted and I was able to make calls and my phone has worked great ever since.

I would like to thank Javier @ ST for being patient and going the extra effort until my phone was working. I talked to 2 other tech support people the night before and they just rushed my off the phone with the wait 24 hours excuse. Javier also found out that the number the tech from the night before gave my phone was a temporary number that expired later that same day. If he would have not noticed that I may still be without a phone. As a person who works in the IT industry, I know it can be a difficult job to put up with irate customers all day but Javier was extremely nice and got the job done.

Thanks Javier.

Straight Talk Wireless phones are messed up

I have bought and returned 6 phones from straighttalk. The phone itself are cheap for the minutes and its hard to get another phone else where because my credit, so that is why I chose to put up with them, but I am so done with the aggravation. Every time I get a phone from them, it either shuts off while I'm talking, or it will not let me call out or receive calls. It will work fine sometime, then all of a sudden it will start acting up. When I call technical support, they sometime fix the problem, but then sometime they don't. I have to keep calling them, half the time I do not understand anything they are saying, or they admit they don't know what to do about my phone and admit they don't understand it themselves. I really think these phones should be taken off the shelves because this company is a rip off. You waste your money on the service cards because when your phone don't work most the time, they do not credit you for the days you missed out on it. And you can not return your cards even when your card dont go through onto your phone. This service sucksssss

Hello again. Still no refund check after promising it would be here 30 days after they received the returned phone. (In case you forgot, the replacement phone-they sent because the original back continued to fall off the phone-was used, abused, and another return, NOT even the same make or model and a cheap phone instead of the expensive one I purchased! Questioning them, was informed that was their choice; it didn't have to be the same! Sunday will be 60 days; promised the refund in 30. I am wondering if they think I will give up, or forget. PEOPLE call Walmart Headquarters and complain with your problem and maybe you can help get this cell phone shut down!, -

Straight Talk Wireless piss poor customer support

Oh my god these people are straight up idiots. We called and spent over an hour to simply change our online password which by the way is not available at their website. We asked to speak to supervisors and was transferred back to the call queue instead of to a supervisor and low and behold I was charged for the minutes too! I filed a better business bureau complaint and I suggest anyone who has issues with them do the same. Perhaps they'll then hire americans or at least someone who has english for a first language and perhaps will then give decent customer service. An hour off my phone to call customer service to not even get help? Pfft.

Hi! I work for a major top 10 bank in the USA. I do not like how banks are ripping off customers and hope to shed some light on what is going inside within the credit card departments. As you well know, the banks have lost billions. And in order to recoup their losses they are going to do everything to make it up and that means screwing over their customers. A little over two years ago, fifteen bank credit card reps met with the Feds in order to drive all interest rates up. Their goal was simple. Make the customers pay for the banks' losses. In the end, the Feds allowed the banks to jack up credit card interest but leave car and home rates alone. So, that meant that anyone who is charged more than 9% interest is paying on someone else's foreclosure. And there is nothing that can be done. The banks even cried to Obama when Obama wanted to roll the credit card interest rates back. If you are being charged over 9% interest rate on your credit card then you are being royally screwed and you cannot do anything unless everyone gets together and lynch the whole banking bunch.

Straight Talk Wireless lies

Straight talk, you lied to me!

I did go buy min for my phone {for the month of june} days in advance because I have learned to trust no one! But I also had it in mind that this was more than likely going to be the last time I buy min for my phone. I did not want to lose my phone number {before I could find another phone co} so I added min to my phone on the 28th {which was not due until the 29th} to make sure that I wasnt going to have issues. Lol, notice the 29th was my load date, it took you 3-4 days to get my phone working.

I have been very easy going and understanding wanting nothing but only what I paid for. Their automated message said they record calls for quality assurances, so I told them to go back and listen to every call I made to straight talk.

I have been a straight talk customer for over 2 years. Along with my husband, daughter, parents, siblings and friends. In Feb of 2012 I ordered a new phone and service card to replace my phone that was not working. I received the phone but no service card. After an hour of being on the phone with Straight Talk, they were able to activate my new phone. When I hung up and tried a call I realized they did not transfer my number. I called back and spent another 2 hours trying to get it corrected. Finally the woman informed me that they would not be able to do this without sending me a new SIM card, which would take about 5-7 days to get to my home. I run my business through my cell phone and all my clients have my cell number to get a hold of me. So being without my cell phone can potentially cost me hundreds a day. Because of the length of time I had been on the phone with them and because the error was on their part the woman I was speaking with promised me that my next month of service would be free. When the month was up I tried calling to get my free month of service activated and they told me it was not documented. I informed them that I had a reference number and that I had recorded the conversation, as I do all the calls I make to them when there is a problem. I was transferred to multiple people over the next 4 hours. I was told my one woman that they were not allowed to give 30 day free compensation, that there was a limit of 5 days. Another person told me 10 days and another person told me 15. I was told by one lady that I wasn’t allowed to speak with a supervisor. When I hung up and called back I was able to speak with one. She told me to email the recording to Straight Talk and that the customer service would get back to me immediately. 24 hours later I still had no response. I called back and was put on hold for 30 minutes. A woman came on the phone and I asked if she was a manager, she said no. I asked if I could speak with a manager and she said she was one. I informed her that I mailed the recording and wanted to get the 30 days free that was promised to me. She said that they did get the recording and it was clear that that is what was told to me, but that they still would not honor it because the lady did not put it in her documentation. She was extremely rude, using profanity and yelling at me, and finally said that if I would leave her the “f” alone that she would give me 10 days for free. Since I need my phone and because of the principal of the matter will not pay them for something that was promised to me, I took the offer and told her that I still expect the 30 days. I told her that I would be filing a complaint with the BBB, she called me an idiot and hung up on me. I can afford the $30 for my phone, but I cannot support a company that treats their customers as poorly as straight talk. I have spent around 10 hours on the phone with Straight Talk and I more than deserve the compensation that was promised to me. I would not have spent that much time on something if it wasn’t the complete truth. I have a family and a business to run, I don’t have the time for this. I will be switching my phone service, as well as my husbands and daughters. My parents, siblings and many of my friends will also be stopping theirs as well. I will also be spreading the word everywhere of the trouble that I have been through.

I have been buying Straight Talk cards for $45.00, which should cover 30 days of service. Each time, the cards expire in approximately three weeks. I thought I was just writing the wrong expiration dates in my records, though today I looked closely and noticed that the cards are only lasting around 20 days. I pulled out my records of transaction IDs, etc. and called customer service. I explained that when I tried to call out today, a recording stated that I was out of minutes and that I needed to refill. I went ahead and refilled it, though the expiration date was supposed to be July 17, 2010. Not today, July 9, 2010. Their only response to me was this: "Sorry that happened to you, is there anything else we can help you with today?" Wow, I was just shocked to hear that they did not even care that this is happening to their customer every month. I then told them this was false advertisement and it seemed like a scam, though I thought how could this company be a scam if Walmart was promoting them? They still said there was nothing they could do and told me to have a nice day. I now have no choice but to return this phone to Walmart and switch to another service this weekend, because Straight Talk is conducting unfair and untrustworthy business. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau as well, in order to protect others. The customer service rep placed me on hold and came back to say that her supervisor refused to give any credit back for all the weeks the company cut from the $45.00 thirty day unlimited card, which only turned out to be a three week card. This company has no integrity whatsoever. How can they be allowed to stay in business with such a reputable company as Walmart?

Straight Talk Wireless outrageous

I have Straight Talk because it is cheap and half what I paid per month with my Blackberry for an unlimited plan.
HOWEVER...after today I am so disgusted with this company...
I called and waited 49 minutes, called back waited 23 minutes, waited for 5 minutes and was mysteriously disconnected, waited 32 minutes, waited 10 and was disconnected...AT LEAST TWO HOURS ON THE PHONE...
when I FINALLY reached someone I was very polite and reasonable explaining what happened. She did not acknowledge anything I said and was rude in asking if I wanted service or not. I asked to speak with a supervisor and she said fine, go ahead and wait on the line again, and hung up on me. the next person I spoke with took my credit card information and hung up on me as well, without reactivating my phone or getting me a phone number of someone I could speak with about this complaint. As I type this I am waiting on hold, at 14 minutes and counting, because my phone is still not on. While this happens, anyone that tries to call me right now is denied and I look like I can't pay my bill, when I am actually ready and willing to, but cant get through to the representatives. So disappointed in this service.

straight talk customer service is a joke! i have been on hold for nearly 6 hours today and 7 hours yesterday. What kind of customer service is this. I have called every supervisor known to man to get connected with some body on the other end that barely speaks any english. How can WAL-MART support this kind of customer abuse.
I originally thought the straight talk was a good option because I was paying so much for a plan from another carrier Man I was so wrong I would rather pay more for better treatment than what I have received from Straight Talk.

Straight Talk Wireless unsatisfactory customer service

Phone no.: xxx-xxx-xxx
Serial no.: xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx xxx

To whom it concerns:

I called your customer service department this morning (5/10) at 11:00am. I spoke to a customer service representative (did not get his name, but he was heavily accented) to update my credit card information and to purchase new airtime for my phone (current service expired at midnight on 5/10/10). I spent a considerable amount of time on the phone with this customer service rep (23 minutes) while he was supposedly updating my credit card information and assisting me with logging in to my online account. since I had 12 hours left of my current airtime, he suggested that I wait until approximately 11:00pm, then log into my account at straighttalk, and proceed to purchase the new airtime, so there would be no interruption of service; so I could utilize the remaining time on my previous service card. upon logging into my account, I found that the customer service rep had not updated my credit card information, and by that time the customer service department had closed (he also failed to mention that they closed at 10pm) and I was unable to purchase airtime, thereby resulting in the interruption of my telephone service. he mentioned that if there was a service interruption, that there was no guarantee that I would retain my current phone number.

As far as I am concerned, this is totally unacceptable and shoddy customer service. what was the point of spending 23 minutes on the phone to ensure that my credit card information was validated and updated, when in fact he failed to do so? this has created a huge inconvenience for me, and I will take my business to another service provider if this issue is not resolved to my satisfaction. I will call your "customer service" department again first thing in the morning to resolve this issue, and I fully expect to retain my current phone number, since my lapse in coverage was totally through the negligence of your customer service rep and through no fault of my own.

Doris c.

Straight Talk Wireless phone stopped working.

Paid for LG phone and unlimited plan. 2 weeks later phone is not working. It keeps cutting on and off. Everytime I press send on incoming call, phone cuts off and then back on. Everytime I key in number to call, and then press send, phone cuts off and then back on. Have paid for service that I'm not receiving. This has been going on for 4 days now. Again, I already paid $45 for monthly unlimited.

I made a $64.96 purchase over the phone. They charged my debit card $64.96 X 4 times! They did not ship my order! After 5+ hours on phone, mostly on hold, multiple reps., no resolution. God help you if you need to talk to a supervisor. This can take hours... Could/would not credit my debit card, could/would not ship my order. So, I canceled my order. Per the phone & on line via email. Still no resolution. I guess I really showed them! NOT! Eating broken glass is more productive than doing business with this company. If you can get through to customer service, good luck, the reps are slow, speak broken english, and don't have the authority to resolve much of anything. All I wanted was an ok phone and an ok prepay plan. All I've received is $260.00 charged to my debit card, and a bad headache. This company is unable to follow up on anything. Slower than slow. the only thing they do quickly is take money off your debit card. Can't talk bad enough about this company. You get what u pay for, well, not really. I've paid alot, and haven't gotten anything! I'm very angry about this crap. Any advice you all have would be appreciated.

That's just beyond horrible service. That's just theft, especially overcharges and not getting you the item.

Your best bet is through your card issuer. Tell them you need to do a chargeback due to fraud. They'll remove the charges especially since the company won't be able to show why the charges are legitimate (since you didn't get 4 phones and the charges were overpriced anyway). Note that if it's a bank card (i.e. a debit card that works like a CC) many banks have a system to let you report it just like a regular card. Otherwise, you'll be going through the bank which can range from just as easy to painful (if it's the later, change your bank!)

One of the better parts of using a credit card. If you had paid cash it would've been MUCH more complicated.

Straight Talk Wireless poor service

Very disappointed. Unreliable phone service and horrendous customer support. I use the 30-day plan and refill it on my own. I've never come close to using all my minutes, but I frequently get messages telling me I'm out of minutes, even though my 30 days are not expired and their website indicates I have hours left in my account. Calls to the toll-free number nearly always result the message "Due to uncommonly high call volume, we can't take your call" message. Straight Talk would be a great bargain if they delivered on what they advertise, but they don't.

Straight Talk Wireless cannot activate

i just bought a straight talk phone. i cannot activate it. i have already registered it and loaded the minutes onto it via internet. i called the ONLY cutomer service number. i was put on hold, and the recording said it was a 5min wait. i was on hold for 45min before i hung up. i tried to get help online, but they just redirect you to the same, and only phone number...[protected].
i was never able to talk to anyone. it was just a recording running you around in circles. now when i return it to walmart, i will NOT be able to get a refund for the prepaid minute card..$45 + tax.
i have had the SAME problem with trac phone, 4yrs ago. i didn't realize this phone belonged to trac phone, or i never would've bought it.

Straight Talk Wireless worst phone service ever

I'm not gonna type out 20 paragraphs of a rant. Google "Straight talk wireless complaints". Look at the posts just from today alone. I just spent 02:12:11 on hold before i gave up- thats two hours, twelve minutes and 11 seconds. And that was just today. I've made at least 50 calls trying to get through to customer service in the past 4 days. I returned my broken phone for a replacement a week ago & still am waiting for my new one- they assured me it would be a few days wait. I cant get through to customer service AND i called fedex and they have no record of a package in transit to me from straight talk. Walmart won't do anything about it because they just sell the phones, they don't service them. I'm a pretty patient person, but I've had no phone for a week & it looks like a slim chance of getting a replacement anytime soon. I finally gave up and called my credit card company to dispute the charges for the phone and service. of course now Straight talk owns my phone number that i had for 10 years and ported over to their service, so thats another issue i need to deal with. grrr. sorry i said i wasn't going to type a long rant. Do yourself a favor. Spend the extra $10 a month on a reliable cell phone company. I'm done

I posted just before eddytal77. I actually had the $30 plan (not unlimited), so an extra $10 (maybe $15) would get me a comparable plan with another carrier. StraightTalk uses Verizon's network, so yes the signal is great... when you have a working phone that can access it. I finally was able to port my number away from straight talk. Remember how I was waiting for my replacement phone? Several weeks later, it arrived via mail. I took the phone over to my local walmart, explained my issues & was immediately refunded. The product manager told me he had gotten so many complaints that it was easier to refund me than try and work something out with the service provider. Walmart just sells the phones, Straight Talk provides the service. I was lucky he refunded me, he didn't "have" to do that. And I was NOT refunded (or credited) for the service plan I had paid for the very day my phone broke. Anyway Good Luck to anyone who buys Straight Talk. It may be working now, but you'll be kicking yourself when issues arise & it's your turn to face the "lack of" customer service you'll receive.

Well I'm in Eddy's boat on this one in that nothing has gone wrong so I haven't had to take a taste of the CS nightmare. CS nightmares are no fun, I agree, but I wonder if you would still save money replacing your straight talk phone every time something went wrong than actually signing a contract with one of the big carriers... lol...

Straight Talk is infamous for customer service problems, but if you can get past that then you won't be able to find a totally unlimited plan for 45 bucks a month. More like dish out the extra 30 bucks a month for a contract plan because all prepaid plans cut corners somehow to deliver lower prices. The signal quality is outstanding. If you want to pay a freakishly low price for a powerful plan, be ready to deal with the consequences in other departments.

Straight Talk Wireless phone activation runaround

I bought 30 days unlimited service on April 6. On May 2nd my phone no longer works. Basically, I was screwed out of 4 days service. I buy a card at Walmart on May 2nd and activate it around 4:30 PM. Automated system tells me wait 5 minutes and the phone will work. 30 minutes later the phone still does not work. I call customer "service" and wait on the phone for 30 minutes. They tell me to punch in a code *22890 then wait up to 2 hours and see if it works.

So I wait for 2 hours, it's now 7:30 PM and I still have no phone service. I go to the website for answers. No help there. Just tells you to call same number I have or write, yes WRITE the corporate office. I try to log into my account, but I can't because I activated the phone over the phone and no email address is associated with the account. So I call the same number again. After getting "All circuits are busy" several times, I finally get through. This time, I wait an hour on the phone waiting for someone to assist me. When I finally do get to talk to someone, I'm told to dial *22890 again and wait. I told them this had already been done and that I can't get into the website.

So after spending over an hour trying to spell my email address to this person (English was obviously not their primary language) I get an account set up. She then transfers me to technical support and this person proceeds to tell me that "the system is down" and they cannot help me. It's now 10:30 PM and I still have no service and have blown an entire evening trying to resolve this. I log into the website to try activation there. Website says my phone is active but to wait 4 hours for the activation to complete. WTF? First 5 minutes, then 2 hours, now 4 hours?

It's now 11:00 PM and I'm tired and frustrated, so I decide to let the phone sit overnight and see what happens. May 3rd 10:00 AM I decide to try to call a friend and guess what? NO PHONE SERVICE! So again I call the phone number for customer "service" After 2 hours of busy signals, "All circuits are busy" messages, and actually getting through to be told that "due to an unusually high call volume, we cannot take your call" then hung up on, I FINALLY get another person on the phone. I explain the whole saga and about how pissed off I am and the rep sends me to tech support again. This time, the tech support person magically can fix it and I'm told to dial *22890 after getting off the phone. I told them I heard that one before, but this time I'm assured it will work. I told them I lost a day of service I paid for since it's now after noon on the 3rd which means almost 20 hours since I started activation, and I would like my service extended 1 day to be compensated. I was basically told I was SOL and that I would just lose the time they spent jerking me around.

I'm a pretty understanding person. If they would have been honest with me and told me that they had some kind of system problem and would compensate me for the time I didn't have service, I would have been OK with the whole situation. It's when you lie to me, stall, don't answer your phone, and fail to compensate me for what is obviously the company's fault is when I lose respect and confidence in the company. These guys have an auto renew feature where you can provide a credit card number and then your service can continue uninterrupted, but after being shorted 4 days of service, been lied to and avoided, do you seriously think I'm going to trust these guys with my credit card info? NO WAY. These clowns just lost themselves a customer. I would rather pay more for a reliable provider that actually has customer service.

Straight Talk Wireless poor costumer service

I called Straight Talk, and from three different employees I was told that their system was down, and that it would be four hours before it was up again. After four hours went by I tryed making a phone call and it still didn't work, so I called them back they said it was still down and wouldn't be up for another eight hours. Then I spoke with the Supervisor and she then informed me that their system was never down and that they would have to fix my phone but wouldn't transfer me over to the phone repair. They also informed me that my minutes on my phone are being used because I had to call them because their phone has failing to work. I would not reccomened anyone to use this service.

I paid my phone bill Monday morning 2:00pm that afternoon. The phone won't work.No reception. I called the office and can't get through but I could get through when I paid my $45.00. My daughters live out of town. My parents are elderly. This is the way they get in touch with me. I dropped T-Mobile for straight talk. Please pray for nothing happens to my family until my phone problem is resolved.

Straight Talk Wireless customer service

I bought a straight talk phone and time card from wal-mart about a year ago. At first when I got the phone activated I couldnt send picture messages to certain to people. So I called customer service to try to have the issue resolved just to hang up on them 3 hrs later after getting so aggravated because they kept telling that its working! I mean really... I should know if its working! And it surely wasnt working.
So, I just let it go. I can live without sending picture messages. I stopped using my phone for a couple months due to money issues and I finally was able to get another time card. Therefore I had to reactivate the phone. Thats fine whatever... I called had everything set up again and I thought everything would work! Well it didnt. Every time I called someone or anyone called me, I could hear them but they couldnt hear me! Eventually it led to me having to send them my phone and they were supposed to send me a new one.. One that wasnt defected! Yea, that was a month ago! They sent my phone to someone else and when fed ex tried to get it back the lady started yelling and cussing and throwing a fit so they didnt get the phone back. I had to file a claims and straight talk said they would send another phone and because I had already put time on my phone they was supposed to give me a month free service... I have a #ing months for my new phone and they just keep jerking me around! # suckers! They owe me that damn phone! Its mine! And I already spent 45$ on the damn time card alone!

I went online ordered a refurbished phone (which was free) and a monthly phone plan of $45.00 from Straight Talk. I went online to register my phone, get a phone #, and activate my card for my monthly plan. I mistyped 1 # and the system showed a phone # that I thought was going to be my new #. However because of the mistype my card went to someone else's phone plan. I called the service dept to have them transfer the $45.00 to my phone and was told they did not refund and it was my fault for typing in the wrong #. I tried to contact the person to whom the # belonged to and was able to leave a message asking them to contact me to get my $ from that person. I called Straight Talk back to try again to get the $ transferred to my phone and they still told me no. I later called the # again and the # was no longer in service. So I believe the # was no longer being used but Straight Talk still would not transfer the funds to my new phone. So I basically paid for my free phone with the $45.00 card that I could not use. I had to go into town to Wal Mart and purchase another $45.00 card to use my phone.

I called to refill my minutes on my straight talk phone. I was on the phone for over an hour for what should have been a simple 5 minute transaction. They asked me the same information over SIX times! After being on the phone an hr I was told there was a system error (on their end) and I needed to call back in "24 hrs." I told them I needed my phone today as I am a nurse and didn't understand why I had to call back in 24 hrs. I spoke to Marie who couldn't help me and asked me the same information over & over and over again. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Annaly, who was very rude and told me to call back in 24 hrs and did nothing to help me...I asked to speak to her superviosr and was transferred to Monica who was extremely rude. I told her I don't understand why I could not get my minutes today. There was no system errors for anyone else calling in why did I have to wait 24 hrs for a system error. I asked to speak to her superior and she became very rude and told me she was the floor supervisor and I could NOT speak to anyone else. I hung up. Now I have no phone for at least 24 hrs and have to call them back tomorrow to see if the problem has been resolved. Not to mention not ONE of them spoke English! I should be compensated for the 24 hrs without a phone! Totally unacceptable for something that should be a simple transaction. Total incompetence on Straight Talk part.

Straight Talk Wireless they deleted number and minutes

I bought three phones from straight talk, purchased three minutes cards..After a few weeks one of the phones was unworkable.. I then called straight talk and was told that the number to that phone, my phone had been transfered and I could not get it back.and in order to get the phone to work again I would need to purchase another minutes card even though my minutes card had two weeks left.. They recognized that it was them who had made the mistake but refused to turn the phone back on and return my minutes.. I was told this by two service representatives, the first one was very rude, second one was stern on not helping me, the supervisor told me the same but added that I am at the point of no return regarding my phone number and minutes.. His name was Jim, and refused to give his last name.. I do not ever wish to deal with these people again, mostly cuz they are rude and do not own up to their own mistake.. Luckely I explained the problem to walmart, they took the phones back, got credit.. I could not get credit for minutes not even the minutes that straight talk lost.. I warn people to stay away from straight talk, they are anything but straight..

Doesn't matter what time of the month, try to make a call and receive a message "not enough money in your account to make this call". Then you have to call customer service (if you can call it that), wait 15 min to connect to rep then 'bout 45 min to ..."turn off please mam, turn on please mam, *22890 enter...everything fine now mam!" No, it isn't! It's just the same...unreliable!

Straight Talk Wireless error message given

I got a straight talk phone in feb 2010 had no problems adding minutes when i just got a prepaid straight talk card. when i tried to get minutes with a credit card there all of a sudden was a error message for my account and they instantly shut off my phone and said it would take 24 to 48 hours to fix. so friday comes and the phone is still not working i call and tell them that this also happened to my fiances phone but he wasn't going to file a complaint. so i told them that this error was not on my end and that i least deserve a months service free. i spent hours on the phone trying to get this resolved and it's still not resolved. I called there corporate office and they tol me they would contact me within 48 hours and never got a phone call back called again yesterday and still no return phone call.

I am an existing straight talk user and have been getting this message when trying to send a sms/mms message "error code 97, please contact customer service". I cannot make any phone calls either. I am quite disappointed with the service that I have gotten by calling the customer service line.

I have worked for verizon and for apple and know the specific steps in restarting, resetting and restoring my phone back to factory settings and trying over and over again. I have updated my PRL, updated my software, updated my profile, my firmware and android software which told me it wasn't available to update and still I get the error code 97, contact customer service.

The advisor that I was speaking to stated that his tools on his computer were not working and could not assist me, was transferred to a manager, then his tools were not working and was going to be transferred to his supervisor which never happened.

Do you have a specific answer to error code 97 or just prefer leading me around in circles? I still cannot make any calls, not send any sms/mms messages. The only access that I can get is from using my internet messaging like facebook to get responses BUT THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!

I need my phone to get calls to make sure that my children and my family are doing okay and safe. And obviously due to your forums wanting to take us offline, you do not know the answers and want to take us offline to attempt to fix the problem and just disconnect our services further. Atleast at Apple and Verizon, we could assist our customers and get them back to their phones within a few hours. I have emailed your customer service and got the automated message that it may take up to 5 days to get a response. 5 DAYS! Are you kidding me? I have enjoyed the services that straight talk has offered up until this point of my phone not working.

Does anyone in straighttalk have an answer for error code 97 and getting my services back online? I am extremely dissatisfied in the service I am getting through your customer service. Starting to wonder if I need to contact the Better Business Bureau since I am getting the run around from your customer service.

I only have Straight Talk and no land line. No one can call me because a voice comes on and will say it is Verizon Wireless and they cannot complete the call. I cannot call out and no one can call in because a call coming in says this phone has been disconnected. I am old, recently widowed and here by myself. I need this phone.

Straight Talk Wireless discontinued phone service without activating the next

Me and straight talk/net 10 and why I cannot call...

On monday, march 15, I went to wal-mart and purchased the st phone, a lg290c for $79.99. while at wal-mart I also purchased a st service card, one that would give me unlimited phone service for 45.00.

I returned home and tried, using the prompts on the phone, to activate it. after about 10 minutes of being on hold and/or responding to computer generated questions, I received a recorded message that “due to unusually heavy call volume” there would be an additional 10 minute wait before a customer service rep will become available. I hung up with the intention of activating the phone by internet.

Little did I know that my problems were about to escalate.

At the straight talk web site I completed all the required forms prior to activating a new phone, including the radio button that I wanted to import an existing phone number from another carrier.

After providing all the requested information and following all the prompts, the last entry started, but did not complete. I waited and waited, for what seemed like 30 minutes; it was probably 15. eventually I restarted the process at the beginning including using a different browser. once again, when I got to the very last step, I waited patiently and nothing happened.

I tried a third time, this time after shutting off and restarting the computer. instead of waiting for the last entry to be accepted, I took the dog for a walk. I returned to the same problem. once again, I shut off the computer, restarted it, returned tothe straight talk web site and started all over. this time there was a different result: as, at the straight talk web site, there was a message that the site is closed for maintenance along with an apology for any inconvenience that it may have caused. I wish that I had received this message earlier which would have saved me well over an hour of my time. armed with the knowledge that their web site was not operational I waited a few hours before trying again, each of my subsequent attempts were without success.

Eventually the straight talk web site was up and running. (unfortunately, and I did not realize it at the time, the web site was reactivated after all their customer service reps had gone home for the day.) again, I followed all the prompts, including the radio button entitled, import an existing number from another carrier.

When finished, st assigned another number to my phone. this is not what I wanted or requested. I called the customer service number which was answered by an outgoing recorded message which said that if you desire to speak with a customer rep to call back tomorrow as we are now closed. I did.

Next I called straight talk customer service the morning of tuesday, march 16. the first rep I spoke with was a heavily accented lady. I only mention the accent as she was very difficult to understand. she repeatedly put me on hold saying that she had to “talk to her supervisor.” at the time I believed the supervisor statement but I no longer do as there were too many of them and the next st customer service rep said the same thing when he placed me on many and frequent holds. I believe that “going to speak with a supervisor” is euphemism for taking time to look up the answer in some kind of manual.

After about 45 minutes, during which she kept asking the same, non specific questions she said that she was going to transfer me to someone who was going to complete the process. I found this statement to be somewhat peculiar as, during the 45 minutes that she had me on the line, she never asked what carrier I wanted to import the number from (at&t); the number itself, my account number with at&t, or the password associated my account with at&t.

Next, I was transferred to a man who began the conversation by asking for the serial number on my phone. I responded by saying that I had just provided this information to the lady who transferred me to him. he informed me that she did not transfer any information and that we had to start from the beginning. I asked “what was the point of her asking me all those questions, repeatedly for 45 minutes?”

By this time my frustration level had increased although I complied and began the process anew. after about 30 minutes, which included several breaks prefaced with “is it ok if I put you on hold for up to three minutes while I speak with my supervisor?”I was informed that both the at&t phone andthe straight talk phone would be disconnected for a period of anywhere from 2 hours to 7 days. at this point I felt that I had no other choice other than to say “yes.”

That was about 11:20 am. it is now 11:35 pm and I still do not have phone service of any kind.

Tonight, about 7pm, I attempted to activate my net10 phone. little did I know that another disaster was awaiting me. at the net10 web site I also tried activatingthe phone several times without success, each time getting to the last step and having their web site refuse to go to the next step. does this sound familiar?

At this point in time I was willing to forfeit the 300 free minutes that were supposed to come with the net10 phone because I desperately wanted phone service, any phone service. not only could I not activate the 300 free included minutes but I also was unable to purchase and activate additional minutes. after about 45 minutes of repeated frustration I decided to return to my local wal-mart with the three phones in hand and seek their help.

Upon arrival it seemed that everyone working in the phone department was gone on a break, etc. eventually I located and contacted the store manager who, on the loudspeaker system, asked for personnel to report tothe phone department. a lady did. I told her my story, she volunteered that what straight talk did was both stupid and unnecessary as, to the best of her knowledge; they do not have to disconnect the at&t phone until shortly before they activatethe straight talk phone.

I asked her if she could import my contacts from my at&t phone to my straight talk phone, she said it couldn’t be done by her or anyone else.

Next, I asked her if she could get my motorola bluetooth earpiece to work with the lg straight talk phone, she responded by saying that could only be done afterthe phone is activated.

Next I told her of my having a net10 phone as a backup plan and the problems I had encountered with net10; that their internet message said that I needed to call from a telephone, but due to st disconnecting all my phones that I did not have a phone that worked.

She volunteered to call net10 for me. she called and received an automated system; she responded to all the questions appropriately, she then received a message that my sim card was not valid. she verified the validity of the sim card and started over. during this time she informed me that her shift ended at 9pm and that she was going home.

Despite her obvious expertise in activating phones eventually she gave up.

Next she informed me that i, or someone in my behalf, must call the net10 customer service when there are live persons working there. upon inquiry she revealed that she did not know what hours net 10 had humans working as customer service reps.

I returned home, nothing accomplished and I am still without telephone service. it is now 11:40 pm.

Straight Talk is a Walmart-affiliated company. Would you expect anything more than the bare minimum from any of their employees/affiliated companies? They pay their associates minimum wage, do not promote qualified individuals to positions of authority and responsibility and their turnover rate is, nicely put.. inflated.
My father-in-law is a 60 year old man who works full time in a factory and does not have his own vehicle or means to take care of himself. Because of this, he lives with my wife and I, and we take care of everything for him- laundry, meals, grocery shopping, and paying bills and managing his finances so that he doesn't have to work the rest of his life. We purchased a StraightTalk bare bones, crappy flip phone for him (because he wanted the least complicated device) and we have had trouble with the service one way or another at least twice a month. Their website is almost always down and if you miss refilling your phone by ONE day, or even ONE hour, it's deactivated and you have to jump through God knows how many hoops/transferred calls to get the issue resolved. We would add him to our Sprint plan, but he refuses to let us "baby" him. (I know.. ) and he doesn't adapt to change very well at all. I considered just adding him anyways and getting him a crappy Sprint phone, but I don't want to turn his world upside down. (And my wife won't let me take away his last bit of independence.)

Plainly put- I would rather go with a VirginMobile phone, than AT&T GoPhone or StraightTalk phone because I've never had any problems with VirginMobile and they run off of the Sprint network. (Our twin boys, age 13, and our youngest son, 10) All have prepaid phones with VirignMobile that they pay for with their allowance after they earn it from doing chores. (Trying to enstill that a cell phone is a luxury, not a necessity.) And the best part is that with VM, your phone is not deactivated, even if you fail to refill it for two months! My youngest wanted to buy an Xbox, so he opted out of having a cell phone for nearly three months, and VM actually paid that third month for him as some kind of WinBack promotion.
If you HAVE to do prepaid, go with VM.

I upgraded my Straight Talk service by purchasing a newer phone. I called Straight Talk to turn on the new phone while still keeping my same number. When i finally got through to customer service, i was told that i needed a new sims card in order to keep my same number. To my surprise customer service told me that it would take four days to receive the new sims card and my service was turned off until that 4th day. I made complaints to a supervisor (after waiting 45 minutes) and he was not helpful. To make a long story short, i have no phone service for four days. Finally, i would not recommend Straight Talk to my worst enemy.

This is the same problem I'm having. Brought my S.T. phone @ Walmart. Purchase the $45.00 unlimited service card. The grand total of $155.00 with tax. I have not been able to activate the phone because the Serial Number is not in their system. This number(SN) came with the phone. I tried to activate on line since the SN was no good they tell you to call customer service. But I could not get a live person to give us any customer service. "Your call is important to us." Bull [censor]. It's been 5 days. "For faster service log on to our website." More [censor]. If the Pin for the Serial Number is no good WHAT GOOD IS THE WEBSITE.
Why don't Walmart take responsibility for this product. I't's sold only in their store. They need to make this right.

Straight Talk is an absolute failure. The company's website has always failed to deliver the needed information I requested. I can never contact customer support. The customer support people are general English as a second language type of employees and it is very hard to communicate.
This service was too good to be true. As my father always said, if it is too good to be true, it is. Well, this is the second time my Straight Talk phone has not had service after I have added my service card. I wish my wife and I had stuck with our AT&T cellular plans. I have been on hold for over an hour and my wife has been on hold well over two hours on our other land line. This is a good example of where a company is not scalable and has failed to support their customers. I hate to see such a promising endeavor fail. I have been wronged, as a customer, by not being able to talk with customer service for hours.
