i was employed with sonic drive in i had many years experience in management. i took this job thinking it was a a new experience. was i wrong the whole time i was there i was harrassed by the generalmanager. she was loud and mean talked about her sex life with employees who were minors. she had been a manager here 25 years yet she acted like a high school kid picking on the unpopular kids. i spent over 20 years as a manager for companys such as pizza hut and burger king. never once was i treated like i was at sonic. what a horrible company to be employed by

where was the box cutter? was it inside the store or out side, because if it was inside you shouldnt have been in there any ways, because customers are not allowed in the store and second if it was outside you should have stayed away from it and called the manager outside to remove it.

he wants me up there as i want to be there. but the main thing as a full price paying customer its just not right to tell someone they can't eat there at anytime of the day when they don't tell some that sit there for over 4 hours after eating and do nothing, to leave

Sighing bluntly like that can easily be seen as a rude gesture. I am sorry for your experience. If you remember her name from the nametag, or how she looked (hair color, height, age range) it be a good idea to call the store and let the manager know. Or if it was just her voice then about what time you where there and if it was the drive-in or parking or patio. Costumers at sonic should feel welcomed, a place to get away from stress of life and enjoy some tasty food. Not a place to deal with an employee with a chip on her shoulder. But do give the store a call, and I hope your next visit, and I do hope you have another, is a lot better for you.

you think THATS bad?!?!?!? I was 3 months preg at the time, i told my GM i was preg and the headset in drive-thru makes my morning sickness worsen! So, he sticks me in DT. i tell him i would like to take a ten so i can pee and eat a cracker and he tells me NO! Well, a few hrs later, i didnt make it to the bathroom fully. After that, he threw me in the kitchen and proceeded to write me up because i DONT know kitchen!

Oh well. we'll see what the EEOC has to say about their harassment and discrimination towards me. I just filed my complaint.

my friend and I went to sonic the other night. We sat there for over 20min. The girl was on the phone never lifted her head up. Meanwhile three other cars drove up, she stayed on the phone again never looking up, we then beeped the horn thinking we would get a reaction, again nothing. We spread the word to everyone we not use sonic. In the intrum we heard other stories about poor service and finding hair in food etc.etc.

The Sonic in Tuscaloosa is just as bad. Unpopular employees are picked on all the time by one of the Supervisors. She employs favortism; she harrasses; she insists on a hostile work environment. She thinks she must dominate. Yet, she's lazy! She's always complaining about how she hates it there. She even instructs people to go agains policy when it's convenient for her. She tells workers to short-change people so she won't have to make more change! Not the place to work.

Hi Sarah,

This type of behavior from a person in management at a Drive-In is strictly against corporate code as well as federal law. You are being harassed sexually. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but most stores employee a very good attorney and most don't lose cases like this. However, it is still wrong.

You can take your case to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission or some other state agency and file a complaint against him. Your case will be assigned a case worker and the drive-in will either settle or take it to court.

Rest assured knowing that most managers accused of sexual harassment are fired. Most companies, especially the Sonic investment group I am employed with, take a zero-tolerance policy on this type of behavior.

1st of all Tammy, you can't spell, how the hell would they get your order correct? and 2nd of all, its very hard for the carhops to give your change back to you, when you order a $4 burrito and give them $20 dollars. Nobody's perfect.

The Sonic on Pawnee & Broadway has a carhop that can't count. Normal carhops come to your vehicle, greet you, tell you what your total is, repeat your order & give you your change. Not this one. She comes to the car & just stares at you...your supposed to know your total & your order. She never looks at the receipt to tell you your total & because of this she asks you what the total is & has the gaul to ask you what change to give you. I guess you don't have to have any intelligence to work for this company.

I know Sonic is franchised, but, do any corporate people ever visit these locations on a random basis? They should. There are two Sonics near my home & one is way better than the other in service & food quality. The crappy one is on Pawnee & Broadway...the food & service absolutely SUCKS! I went to this one for the very last time the other day. We ordered a combo meal w/ the free upgrade to the Route 44, their new apple slice w/ caramel. When the carhop came to the car she handed me the Route 44 & when I took it the lid popped off & spilled all over my pants. All she said was "I'm sorry" yeah, like she meant it. I told her that happens every damn time I go to that location. She offered more napkins...what is a napkin going to help if the soda is already soaked into your pants. The tot from the combo meal were old & tasteless, my apple slices were slimy & starting to brown. They had an expiration date of the very next day. I'm so glad their customers are important enough to them to keep their food fresh. This Sonic is out for me from now on...I don't care if I'm dying of thirst & it's right across the street from me...I will go to the other location on Pawnee between Meridian & Seneca.

I work at a sonic and there is no ACTUAL yogurt that goes in. The cost of your smoothie would go up if we actually did that and the consistancy would be wrong. The yogurt that IS put in is a powdered yogurt which does turn into a yogurt substance when it is mixed with the slush base.
What do you think smoothies are made of?
Idiot..

i have worked for sonic in south carolina for about two years now and the smoothies arent made with an actuuall yogurt but a yogurt powder and then we add a slush mix. what probably happend to your smoothie is the slush part came out thin and the yogurt powder didn't get mixed up enough.

The exact same thing happened to me. I ordered a banana yogurt smoothie. What I got was a ice slushy type drink. There was no yogurt in my drink. Just ice and some kind of kool-aid or something, it was disgusting.
I kindly asked them if they made a mistake. And the teenage girl got a major attitude and said that is what I ordered. That is the way they make them? Excuse me? This is how you make frozen yogurt smoothies? I didn't feel like it was worth arguing over. I just can't even describe how idiotic this girl was. Needless to say, I will never go back. This happened on New Shackle island Rd in Hendersonville, TN.
I have never been back and will never go to another one again. I just wonder how absolutely ignorant a person can get. Sonic taught me the answer to that question.

Sonic in Webb City, Mo just opened a new store. The service was horrible. We kept yelling over the musice so they would her our order and they still got it wrong. Then when we told them what was missing they wanted us to wait and charge for the part they didn't get. It's like yelling into a clowns mouth. We were so made that we told them to forget it. Now how do you get a manager to listen to your story? We will never eat there again.

I was first employed there in the beginning of March of 2017. I was brought to tears the first 2 weeks of me working there, just by other carhops alone who felt some superiority just for having worked there for a couple of years. The managers said nothing to them, ever. They were always right. They would yell and curse at me. So loud and rude. I broke down in tears one day and one of the managers came to me to ask the problem. I explained about how downright mean and disrespectful the "senior" carhops were treating me and the other new girls in training. He claimed he would talk to the girl that triggered my breakdown that I had desperately tried to avoid, but I later found out they were sleeping together. I've worked at about 4 restaurants in my life for decent amount of times, and have never, ever witnessed anything like this. These girls are white trash, disrespectful, and demeaning human beings. And they're able to get away with it. Or even encouraged. I've heard girls say when others weren't around to a manager "oh, i'm going to get her fired." classy...real classy.

This is concerning the sonic restaurant in Watonga, OK. It is a shame when a business and the person in charge of running the business tolerates, condones, and allows such immoral conduct and behavior in the workplace. When you as a manager allow drugs to be sold, theft by family members, impartial treatment of employees by family members, it makes you wonder what this world is coming to. The partner at this location has allowed his girlfriends family members to run off everyone they don't like. He and his girlfriend worked alongside eachother for months. This is a direct violation of their own policies due to the fact that managers are not allowed to date employees. When it became apparent that they were dating, he made her quit. He will deny that any such thing happened. He can't due to the fact she got pregnant. If you check the number of months that she is pregnant against the amount of time she has not worked there, it will show that she became pregnant at the time she was an employee there. He had previously denied dating her sister as well. If he denies that one, have him explain why she has been fired and rehired five or six times in the last two years. Have him explain why their mother has been promoted to Co-Manager. She has no experience in the field prior to her coming to Sonic. These people even brag to the other employees that they are keeping all of the money in their family. If you ask the partner, he would say that all of this information was fabricated. All of these things are going on because we live in a small community and there is no one to check up on him and he fails to realize that all things come to an end. If you visit this location at night, you can go around back and witness his soon to be mother-in-law smoking marijuana behind the store. Now you ask yourself, do they not know, or do they not care. Just check her cigarette pack one night while she is at work.

It’s funny when some one who appears to have little to no fast food experience at all. I have run a restaurant for years and have seen that some times you have no choice in giving a teenager a shot at running a shift. While you your self, may not have a lot of respect in what a teenager can accomplish, I have seen many do a great job if given a chance. Furthermore have you given the local management a chance to fix any wrong doing?
Maybe you would like to take a shot in working there, and being the saving grace on a night shift that needs leadership from an adult.
Because while we are being honest, we have to remember that most adults will not work fast food unless they have to, so if you can only hire teenagers then that is what you have.

Sadly we are seeing this all over the place, in a time where people have no patience and are so quick to yell and scream about what is wrong, instead of looking at it with an understanding mind and heart.
I'm sure the manager is trying his or her best, and knows fully what is wrong in his restaurant, and could probably do a better job in knowing if the complaint was given to him, instead of an internet website. Try going up to the Sonic and talking to him or her personally and not yelling over the phone or through the speaker and then you might find that its was better talking to that instead of a "robot" hot line.

I am a Loyal Customer of Sonic in Hallsville, Texas (or Should I say I WAS a Loyal Customer). My patiences has run out.

I too have THOUGHT that Sonic would be a great place for my children to work, but now I have decided "NOT''!

The Sonic in Hallsville has teenage employees also (I am not demeaning teenagers working, but they need adult supervision). There are no adults (that I see on any of the shifts). I know of TWO students WHILE they were Juniors/Seniors in High School that were made Managers? I don't agree with a teenager TRYING to manage a restaurant!

Yesterday I had gone to Sonic to get some dinner for the family. I had watched a movie at home and then wrote down everyone's order, so I was prepared to drive-up to one of the stalls and push the button, and place my order. But, that was not the case. I drove-up, pushed the button...NOTHING, I waited a few moments pushed again...NOTHING, I waited a few more minutes, pushed the button...and you may have guessed by now...there was NOTHING, so I thought maybe this speaker is broke, my daughter got out of her car (still in her Pajama Pants because we THOUGHT that she would not have to get out), and she went to the next stall, pushed the button and NOTHING, so she walked to the walk-up speaker and FINALLY got to order. While we were pushing all of the buttons for service, cars were coming, people were ordering, then those people got their food and left...we had NOT ORDERED because no employee answered our speaker. When we FINALLY received our food, I asked a carhop if the speaker's were working and she CONFIRMED that they were. I told her that we were being ignored and told her that people were driving up ordering, getting their food, and had left before we even got to order. Another person said that "If it makes you feel any better I waited 20 minutes for a Toaster this morning". Well, 20 minutes after getting to place the order is better than 20 - 25 minutes of waiting to place the order, then having to wait longer for the food.

This is not the first time that I have been ignored, but it was the last straw...I will not go back. One time I had gone through the drive up window, no answer at the speaker, so I drove to the window...I still did not get acknowledged, instead I was watching a teenage boy flirting with a teenage girl.

I think in either case someone could have gotten on the Speaker (If they were busy) and said "Welcome to Sonic, I'll be back to take your order in a moment". That would have acknowleged that someone knew I was there...BUT the teenagers are not being taught and they are left at the restaraunt to run the thing without mature supervision!

The above are just the icing on the cake, they have forgotten to put some of our food in the sack at times and I would have to go back up there and get it. Did I get my money back for all of the trouble I went through? NO!

I called the hotline that is listed on the menu, but the operator was talking as if he were a robot that says the same thing all of the time plus, the hotline was in the Northeast part of the country. WHAT!, Hallsville, Tx is in the South (60 miles west of Shreveport, La.)

The Headquarters for Sonic is in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. I TRIED to get an address for complaining, but the robot would not give me one. He just took the information and said that someone would contact me. We'll see!

I would contact and attorney it's sexual harrassment and against any company policy to allow such action.Protect your rights as an employee and stand up for yourself. That is uncalled for what that manager is doing.I wouldn't allow any manager to do that too me.Don't let him keep doing that because he isn't fit too be a manager.Contact corporate if they can't help you contact an attorney.Don't be afraid to speak out if anyone should lose their job should be a manager,I wouldn't fear speaking out.

Don't ever tolerate something like that in the work place. Especially if it's causing you physical harm. You should look for another job, seriously. No job is ever worth dealing with ### like that.

Next time he touches you or makes you uncomfortable, you should tell him about it. Warn him that how he is treating you is making you uncomfortable. If you had a pocket tape recorder, I would bring that with you to work and try and get him on tape calling the girls [censor]ed. If he threatens you, go above his head. He isn't CEO, so keep going up the chain until someone responds.

Worst comes to worse, talk to a lawyer about it.
