Topper disaster
Recently, I underwent a hair service at my local SMARTSTYLE salon. I frequently visit this establishment. Unfortunately, I was unable to secure my usual hairstylist, Ashley, who consistently delivers exceptional results. Additionally, I was unable to schedule my second stylist, Jessika, who is nearly as skilled as Ashley in my hair care routine. However, I felt comfortable with Kelsey, who had previously provided satisfactory services.
On the day of my appointment, I am uncertain whether Kelsey misunderstood my preferences or rushed the process. Despite her impressive work, including bleaching my hair, she proceeded to braid it sloppily using minimal gel. Furthermore, she adopted an unconventional method that involved neither braiding it into a bun nor securing it under a bonnet with assistance. As a result, my topper and bridge were completely ruined within three and a half days, resulting in a significant loss of hair.
I have taken photographs and receipts to substantiate my claims. This situation has left me deeply upset and uncertain about the appropriate course of action. I am compelled to escalate this matter to corporate management to obtain a resolution, as the unacceptable nature of the incident has caused me significant distress.
Recommendation: Shop elsewhere

My 8 yr. old daughter has incredibly unruly hair, being half Trinidadian; And her White Mamma don' know what to do about it! Judy with a team of ladies at Smart Style, (7100nTecumseh Rd. E), do an excellent job detangling and teaching me about the hair, should I ever feel so inclined to do my daughter's hair on my own. Lamentably, I do not feel competent to take this task on myself, and I am looking for Judy and her team of hairdressers.

Good salon experience
At the Hillard location my hair stylist Jala is amazing at what she does. At first, while looking for a stylist before I met her she gained my attention for repeat scheduling services way back, cause of a magical word I hadn't heard in a while, and that was "THICK" describing my hair texture which made me search no longer for a hair stylist She was letting me know I was doing a decent hair care on my own, but I didn't want to mess it up and needed a professional to help keep my hair looking healthy. Her boss Beth is so kind and I notice the styles she gives other clients and makes them look great also.
My personal opinion
I just moved here back in November and I needed a haircut badly. So I came to smart style here on central. I first used Mike but he could do eyebrows even tho he give great haircuts I switched to Lori Thomas she always fits me in right away. I've been very sick for several years now Lori takes time to listen to what I'm going through with my health and not only does she cut my hair great I've noticed she listens to all her clients and she treats us like family. So if you need a good haircut ask for her she will hook you up. She also does eyebrows and to me that's a plus. Again if you need a great hairdresser go to Walmart smart style on central ask for Lori tell her Jax sent you. You can't go wrong with her or any of the ladies that works there.
Excellent Service
I just had my hair cut at smartstyle in claremont at the walmart super center this Thursday. I walked in and asked to get my hair cut and the hair stylist at the counter named Julie was wonderful. She took me right away and asked what type of cut and style I wanted and listened to what I had to say about how I wanted my hair to look and how I did not want to spend a lot of money and gave a few suggestions. Once I decided how my hair style would be Julie got to work and in 15 min I had a wonderful new hairstyle. Thank You Julie. The price for my hair cut was reasonable and I scheduled my next appointment with her again. The place was clean and neat. This will be my new hair cutting salon from now on. Again thank you to Julie who was so patient with me and explained things and listened to what a customer had to say.

Want my money back!!
I went to the salon in Clifton Park ny to get my hair done. The manger Jenn did my hair. She damaged my hair. She cut it uneven and dyed my hair a completely different color and it's not at all what I asked for. I paid 273 dollars and tipped her 10 for a complete mess of a hair job. I called and asked my money back and she refused the hung up the phone. On the receipt it clearly states within 7 days I have the right back to my money. She refuses to now answer the phone. I have attached photos of my hair and then what I asked for.
Recommendation: Don't even waste your time.

this serves as documentation of rude & extremely unprofessional customer service at Smart Style Walmart Adrian Michigan on 6/26/2025 @10 am, I cannot provide the stylist name as I did not stick around long enough to obtain that but I can say she was the sole employee at that time. Having arrived prior to open time I was waiting outside the gate... this apparently was not acceptable to her. After those who followed her in and left the salon a couple of minutes later, with the gate still partial open I peeked in and without hesitation she barked... II am not open. Upon opening the salon at the appropriate time I apologized by saying I did not mean to press your opening... I had googled opening time and received two different times so I came half way. Immediately she became argumentative and set out to infom me Google has opening time at 10, This this is replied I am sorry but the site I reached had two separate pages and separate infro. At this precise moment she pulled up Google on her phone to prove her point.. My reponse was the bottom line is are you open at this time. Her rude response was well ii have the doors open! It was at this point I decided I was definitely not interested in dealing with rudeness. However I did ask if she was willing to do a perm. Hair color and haircut
I went yesterday 09/20/2024 to smart style turnersville, asked for a highlight/balayage in brownish with a little bit of blonde in the ends and a U shaped long layers and curtain bangs, showed my stylist pictures (multiple times) of what I wanted my hair to look like, she said that it was ok that she could do it, they started closing the salon with me inside so I couldn’t take a good look of my hair she said that I just had to get use to it because my natural hair is dark brown, once I got to my house and I took a better look at it I see that she damaged my hair, she made me blondeish with o range and yellow some parts of my hair are falling my haircut looks like she chopped a part off it looks disgusting and nothing like what I asked for

I went to SmartStyle in Turnersville NJ I showed a picture of a caramel highlights/balayage I have natural dark brown hair I just wanted a little light to my hair never had any kind of color done to my hair, the service took 4-5 hours when I got home and took a good look to my hair ( they were already closing with me inside so didn’t have much time to look at my hair) my hair is yellow/orange/blonde damaged the haircut I asked was long layers, u shaped and curtain bangs, now it looks like she chopped a piece out of my hair
It’s shocking that SmartStyle not only failed to give you what you asked for but left your hair damaged, with some even falling out. Closing the salon with you inside so you couldn’t properly check the results sounds highly unprofessional, and dismissing your concerns by saying you just need to "get used to it" is downright unacceptable. It’s clear that your stylist didn’t deliver the balayage, layers, or curtain bangs you requested, and the result is far from what you were promised.
You definitely deserve a full refund and, at the very least, an offer to fix the damage they caused—or better yet, a proper resolution at another salon. Reaching out to SmartStyle's corporate office to report this experience might help ensure they take appropriate action.
Permed hair
The Bartlesville Oklahoma Smart Styles location is where I had my hair permed.
She did not listen to me, she didn't cut my hair like I asked three times.
I was ignored intentionally the first time and told to give it a few days before I decide on cutting or trimming my hair after he perm was done.
My perm had patches of straight hair all throughout so I was scheduled for another appointment to take care of the straight hair. After my second appointment I had patches of straight hair still. The Manager Sierra as of the beginning of January did not do near the professional job she was hired for and I went 4 full days without washing my hair to secure what curls I had. In the end I looked like a Castaway with frigid curly hair and straight long hair hanging all around and throughout my head.
So I asked for a refund to get my 70$ back and I was declined a refund.
Claimed loss: My hair had to be cutt off to make me less insecure and more comfortable in public

I came in not too long ago and this lady was super rude she was yelling at another employee and I felt so bad for her that's not the way to treat other employees and it made me uncomfortable. I arrived at the Smartstyle about 7 minutes before they open with my daughter. Before the store opened another customer ( Jourdan Gaudet) also walked up and waited. When the store opened my daughter and I got to the counter first. I advised Maria that my daughter needed a wash and flat iron. She advised that she probably wouldn't be able to start on it because she has a 10:30 a.m. appointment. That is when Jordan advised that she was the 10:30 a.m. appointment. I then asked her what she was getting and she advised just the top of her hair cut because the rest was already freshly cut. I advised Maria that we would wait. When she was done with Jordan she washed. blow dried, and flat ironed my daughter hair. The whole time in my head I am thinking that I have went to many Smart Style Salons and never paid that amount. The complaint is the 2 beauticians at Smartstyles in Blf.Va. they ruined my cut was suppose to be vertical bob and it isn't even a bob now .You need to fire them and get some there that know what doing if you can't then I will post for people not to get haircut there.I will ruin that one place.It happened on Oct.3,2023 on that evening time .They did not give me a receipt she didn't.

Yesterday approximately about 12:00 p.m. I came into West esplanade Walmart Smart styles and Faith did my hair she kept saying over and over I know what I'm doing I have this the manager kept looking at me Peggy she left she got down my hair and said that it don't need no toner it was yellow and brassy. She called me to the front so I could check out the manager Peggy was like no ma'am you're not going to charge her anything her hair is not fixed so my boyfriend Brian Cartman gave the lady $10 for her work cuz she did spend 4 hours trying to do my hair it was supposed to be just a root touch up but it turned into a 4-Hour process. I went back this morning at 8:00 till 12:00 and Peggy fix it she is amazing the faith lady yesterday did not even want to ask for help she kept telling the woman to leave her alone she knew what she was doing Miss Peggy has pictures of my hair from yesterday and today from the finishing work she did a great job I love it but I don't understand why I had to pay 155 + 125 for full highlights twice I was overpaid. I love my hair though just don't understand why it was so pricey. Peggy is amazing. Faith the one that did it yesterday just didn't wanna ask for help was really smart and rude too management.

On the 29th of September I booked an appointment At the Emporia Walmart Hair salon. The woman working informed me that she would in fact be able to clean up my grown out layered hair. I had three reference photos from Prior cuts when it was fresh. I said I wanted it to come to my collarbone at the longest and my chin at the shortest. What I got is nothing short of a tragedy. Should have been three to four inches coming off of my hair. She took off so much more than that. Never even separated my hair in sections. Just whacked away! There's not two hairs that are the same length on my head. They're squared, Blunt. I've never felt ugly in my hair before, but I do now. It's so uneven and blocky And embarrassing. It's too short At my crown To do anything with. I just have to let it grow.I honestly don't even know how to begin explaining the rest of it. It's. Just the worst thing. I called her and asked her for a refund. She said she wanted to whack on my hair some more. I said no thank you. Please may I have a refund. And she would not give me my money back. All my hair is gone. What's left is chunks of nonsense. And I can't get my money back. Why would she want to cut my hair again!? You can't fix this. All my hair is gone. 9/22/2023 went in for hair cut,perm,dye style every part of it was horrible she cut with clippers left side shorter than right but had long sideburns on left none on the right she cut me bald in the back and brought the back up to the middle of ears,perm wasn't left on long enough the new growth wasn't laid down,the dye was not left on long enough either she rushed the process you could still see the silver I told her exactly what I wanted and got nothing of what I relayed to her I told her of the bad experience I had earlier this year and it was the same experience different person not toention her stink attitude I did not get a receipt I did not see hair dryers toold my hair she didn't even have pencil flatirons to curl my hair for the cut I asked for pitiful!

Wendy was at this store I want to say June of this year about 12ish to 2ish, she was cussing like a sailor talking bad about employees and mangers of other stores. I can say it has happened 2 times the next time was August I think about the same time of day. She is so negative and loud. She just lost a manger an is already bad mouthing her. A hair stylist who is the sole employee of Smart Style in Decatur, Alabama
I went to our local Smart Style in Decatur, Alabama on Friday, September 8, 2023 with the intention of getting my haircut. The stylist informed me that she was the manager and sole employee of this salon. I showed her the photo of a bob hairstyle with layers and even kept it open on my phone to guide her. When I got home and took a good look at this NON layered,BLUNT cut I just sobbed. Bear in mind that she had about 4 other people come in while she quickly chopped my hair into this blunt mess, and told them all she'd get to them eventually and so on. I finally called her the next day, and she said to come in Monday and she'd try to fix it. Would not give me an appointment time. So, I showed up Monday. She was already in the middle of doing what looked like a perm,and informed me that she was going to do 3 people ahead of me. At a out that moment another lady showed up, and the stylist (I use that term loosely) informed me that I now had 4 people ahead of me. I've went there a long time and she's the rudest and worst hair cutter I've encountered. REGIS, aside from one woman not being able to cut everyone's hair that shows up, how long is this going to be allowed to go on? It seems like you don't care about the customers or the workers since she admitted on the 8th that the workers before her had all quit and left. On top of her antics, I then had to go pay another salon to try to repair her damage. Somehow I don't see this changing till people get tired of waiting hours for the only employee to get to them,and if YOU don't care, probably not even then.

I need someone to call me. I paid 130 and no one told me I had 7 days. It was a few days past. The top totally fell out. I went back and she wanted to cut my hair! The top where perm fell out. I said no! She agreed to spot perm so made an appointment. The manager just called and said I’m not welcome in Smart Style! Never heard of such a thing. Smart Style not guaranteeing work! Manager goes by Cat and she’s a …….. can’t believe how disrespectful she was to me. I’m 73.
I need a refund. The perm on the top and sides fell out within days. I tried to call. Couldn’t get through! So traveled across town. Jenny washed my hair and wanted to cut hair off! I said no. We scheduled to have a spot Re perm. Now I just got a nasty call saying I cannot ever come back. Please I need someone from corporate to respond. Thank you.

I went to walmart superstore in Kendall looking for Miriam my usual hair dresser,
a lady name Gladys say she would help me with my issue I only wanted a trim to make the hair even after 4 months of not been able to go for personal reasons. That lady bucher my hair, I told her three times she was cutting to much at the top. At the end after I paid, went looking for my husband, he always compliment me when Miriam does my hair, all he say today was the left side is shorter then the right. I worked for less than a week at Smart Styles in Muskogee. The manager is brand new and completely untrained. The other 2 girls are on drugs. One is in rehab and has purchased a phone. Her name is Jade. Jade has random men meeting her in smart styles consistently. I reached out to Monarch myself since the regional manager, Aretha, did nothing about this extremely uncomfortable situation. Jennifer is always high on something and rarely shows up. When she is there she spends her time running off any decent employee this Smart Styles may get. Aretha is aware of both her tardiness and her consistently using drugs, even at Smart Styles. Jennifer has been reported multiple times on several occasions. Aretha keeps her on staff. The business is dying. They can't afford to buy shampoo and conditioner duos. The Muskogee Smart Styles has the WORST reputation and now I see why. The problems are not handled. There's is little training or support. The majority of the people that work there are malicious drug addicts who answer to absolutely no one. There is no standard at this store. There are no rules. It's complete chaos and it's a extremely toxic and hostile environment that the biggest boss you can find will do nothing about.
Desired outcome: Discussion with Aretha. Proper determination of employees and poor work standard. Make the work environment and actual work environment and not a speed date, or a place you can purchase drugs.

July 4th I went to the Lasalle location in sudbury for a perm.
The manager Dana rushed my service to get her next appointment in regardless that the next client was fine with waiting for a later time, only leaving the solution in my hair for 25 minutes and refused to show me the back of my head once completing the style, I left with wet hair and was very disappointed it has to be crunchy with gel to hold a simple wave and will look wet all day because the amount of gell required to keep any wave.
I did not wash my hair for 4 days as instructed, styled as she had before leaving the salon and the back of my hair is nearly completely flat, I went back to complain as other stylists told me a body wave shouldn't have been charged over 145$ and I paid over 180, the stylist was dismissive and rude that because it is not the same as when I came in therefore she did a good job and the perm was successful, making any excuse to make the lack of curl my fault for not styling it right or if it was more curly it would look bad (which is what I agreed I wanted and she just shamed me for)

I went to the sister location in my area and the manager there said that behavior was unacceptable and in the very least a redo for free should have been offered to fix the mistake, I have contacted customer care with no results and the phone numbers are all dead ends leading back to the website.
I don't recommend anyone go to smart style.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund.
A stylist
The stylist that cut my hair his name was John. He washed my hair which was not a problem, then instead of have a towel to dry my hair before going to the chair for him to cut it. He tells me to go over to his chair with my hair soaking wet my shirt got drenched from the water. The phone rang and he went to answer it instead of having a towel to dry my hair first before answering the phone very unprofessional.
