Adult haircut
On Mar 13, 2023, my wife made an appointment with Ellen for a haircut for the following day, Mar 14, 2023.
When we got there for the haircut Mar 14, 2023, she was with another customer and my wife let her know that she had arrived and was told to take a seat. When Ellen was done with the customer, my wife said she would like a haircut but Ellen said "NO" with an angry tone. She said she was going for break. Why would she let us wait just to say "NO", when Diane, the Salon Manager was not busy at the time we came in, who could have just gave my wife's haircut. Unfortunately, Diane was already with another customer and couldn't attend to my wife, after waiting and Ellen saying "NO". But Diane offered to do my wife after two customers and advised to have a snack at McDonald's because we haven't had our lunch yet at that time. When we came back, Diane was about to finish with her second customer and we just waited a little while, and Diane did my wife's haircut and we were very thankful for her concern. We find it unbelievable and unacceptable to have been treated by Ellen, as if she is the Salon Manager and her wish is everybody else's command. What an attitude. I felt we were discriminated by Ellen because we are not white.
Desired outcome: I hope the management do the right thing and not let this attitude and treatment to some customers happen again.

My third visit at smart styles to have my nails done prices change from first visit second visit third visit Cindy was so rude I was so humiliated it’s all on camera, Cindy verbal told me get up a go get my gold stones out of case we’re only she she should have gotten them for me , she was talking to me so rudely I ask her if she had a bad day she said yes but continue to do my nails with a bad attitude.
Desired outcome: I believe she was upset because I was asking about the price she was charging me verse the price that was on smart style price list . Cindy had another customer come in she never apologized I still tip her .
Smartstyle hwy 157 Cullman Alabama
I went to Smart Style in Cullman Alabama today on highway 157. I was so disrespected and embarrassed by my stylist I wanted to cry. Instead I got angry and filed a complaint with the manager. She shrugged me off like dirt on carpet. I went there November 1st 2022 and was treated great, the manager that shrugged me off today actually done my hair then and it looked great. Today was a whole different story. The stylist today had no clue how to cut a stack haircut and has my hair thinned and so short I'm embarrassed! When I told the manager that I had a complaint about the stylist the manager said ok you get what you pay for! And hung up on me! I will never use that salon or those 2 women again! When I try to get in touch with customer service they send you to chat and want to charge $5.00 to file a complaint! My gosh what's wrong with this company? I went in one week ago and asked for a color melt I asked for a little dark red and ny hair was already blonde I wanted it lighter as close to platuim as I could get the guy said oh yes u showed him a pic when I left I looked like a clown so I went back Saturday and the Manger ashley said I can fix it so I said I wanted it very blond and the red on top she made ny hair purple and ruined it I told her I didn't like it and she told me to get the f out of her chair I want my hair the way I asked my hair now has no blonde it lookes absolutely nasty and she said I had to do that cause you didn't like orange so I did what you wanted I said I wouldn't have orange if your employee Patrick wouldn't have caused it she was rude and made me leave looking horrible I already battle depression and this has mentally cause me more depression the photos attached the blonde is when I went in the 1st time the red is what I left with it was exermley orange and ran down my hair and the dark color is what I walked out with with your Manger telling em that was blonde piper martin [protected]

On January 6, 2023, I visited our local salon as we always do when we need a haircut (this place of business is the only business where we receive our hair needs)
The stylist was very dismissive and seemed like she did not want to help me even though she was very chatty and laughing with the customer before me. It's fine she did not want to talk, I'm not a talkative person anyway, it was just her demeanor that made me intimidated.
I explained to her that I wanted a 2 inch trim, no layers, nothing special. She sprayed my hair, cut it and then told me she was done. I paid, asked for a receipt for bookkeeping and left.
Once I got home, I saw that there were so many strands of hair that were longer than the rest. I had to trim those long hairs.
Sunday, January 8th, I started my bookkeeping and realized she charged me a Hair Cut + Shampoo + Blow Dry. I paid so much extra and didn't even get what I paid for.
Desired outcome: Please refund for the difference
Spiral perm
On November 1, 2022, I paid $141 for a spiral perm + $30 tip, to be divided between the two stylists who did my hair. The one that I had the appt with, L, rolled the left side of my hair, while she had the other stylist, M, roll the right side. Bad mistake!
It looked absolutely beautiful when I left, but within 2 weeks, the side rolled by M had fallen out considerably. It looked really weird, with one side a beautiful spiral perm and the other side almost straight.
I not only called L to inform her of this, I went in to let her see for herself. She said that she would redo the perm. Although I offered to pay for it, she refused to accept payment for the redo. She wouldn’t accept even half.
She made an appt for me to come in, but due to illness, I was unable to keep that appt.
We rescheduled the appt. I showed up at a few minutes before 9 for my appt, but the salon was still closed. About 9:15-9:20, the greeter told me that she had called and said she wouldn’t be there to open the salon until at least 10 am, maybe later. I couldn’t wait that long to even get started, so I left. Turns out they didn’t open until 10:30 that day. This was a wasted 64 mile round trip for me!
When I finally got hold of L later that day, we rescheduled the appt AGAIN, this time for Friday, December 16 at 11 am, the day that I was supposed to be leaving for Florida to visit family for the holidays. I ended up leaving on Monday, three days later than planned because of all of this!
On Friday, I showed up at 11. L tried to tell me that I was supposed to have been there at 9. Uhmm, no. That was on Wednesday. After checking the schedule and verifying that my appt was for 11, she got started.
She was not in a good mood. Apparently, M had not come to work on time, causing L to have to turn away customers who could not wait for her to show up. One of the stylists told L that M said she would be there around “elevenish”. When L finally got hold of her at about 11:10, she told her that she was in Manchester, approximately an hour away. Her mood got worse with every customer that couldn’t wait 45 minutes to an hour.
It became even worse when she got a call from her son giving her bad news. She uses a watch phone. I could hear both sides of the conversation, since the phone was practically against my ear.
After she hung up from him, she talked about his bad temper, smart mouth, etc. She was having a really bad day, and my hair paid for it! She usually does excellent work, but that day, everything that went wrong at that salon caused her to be more and more distracted.
She used way too few rods, even if it hadn’t been supposed to be $141 spiral perm!
The other stylists even commented on how fast she was done rolling my hair. She just kept saying, “I’ve been doing this a long time.” As she stated, she was the professional. It should have been done right.
When she put the perm solution on my hair, I doubt that even half of the bottle of solution made it onto my hair. She had cut the tip of the bottle so that the solution sprayed all over my face, my clothes, even sprayed on the floor all the way to the reception desk! She laughed about it!
Instead of getting a new bottle, she just kept spraying that one all over me. She even told the other stylists that they had to clean the salon that night, especially being sure to mop up the mess she made with the solution that was supposed to be on my hair, but ended up on the floor!
After putting the perm solution on, it seems like no time before she was rinsing it out and put the neutralizer on it. Once my hair was saturated with neutralizer, she walked away, leaving me with my head in the sink and literally dripping neutralizer! She never said a word as she left.
When she didn’t come back after a few minutes, I started looking around for her. I finally saw her through one of the mirrors. She was in the back room. The way that she kept stooping up and down, it looked like she was putting up stock. Since it was obvious she was going to be a while, I got up and went to my bag at her station, where I got some Aleve for the bad headache and the pain in my neck from laying with my head in that sink for so long, with the smell of that neutralizer coming up into my face. I got my book that I had brought with me and went back to wait for her.
After I had read several pages, she finally came back out, holding up a cup of coffee. It wasn’t until she described the “wonderful cup of coffee” she had made, right down to the “whipped cream on top”, and asked if any of the other stylists wanted a cup, that she even acknowledged me!
After she finally rinsed the neutralizer out and removed the rods, we went back to her station where she ran a comb through my hair, put a huge handful of mousse in hair, shoved the middle of my bangs back on my head, then said, “There. Now you’ll have lots of curls!” My hair was so stiff from the mousse that it felt and looked like plastic! I couldn’t even pull my bags loose, let alone get a comb through my hair!
Her bad day was not my fault! I didn’t make M hours late for work. I didn’t keep people from waiting until someone was available or M showed up for work. I didn’t get her son fired from his job. Yet, it seems that I am the one who had the misfortune of being her customer when all of this was happening, therefore paying the price of having my hair ruined by her because she had a bad day.
The first pictures were taken Sunday night, December 18, 3 days after she re did a “spiral perm” on my hair! 😱This mess is how my hair looked for my visit to family that I hadn’t seen in 3 years! The last two pictures are how my hair looked when I went in to have her fix the side that had fallen out. I would have been better off to leave the sides uneven. 😡
Desired outcome: I want my money back so I can go to a decent salon and get my done properly.
Service from a manager who cut my hair
Hello, my name is Cheryl. I went to Walmart and had went to this hair salon to see if it was open. It was so I proceeded to the counter where a woman was sitting. Her name is Ashley. She is the manager at this store in Mount Dora inside of Walmart. I continue to explain it to her what I wanted and I was very bold with it not mean or nasty just I let her know what I needed and wanted. At first I was a little happy with it and anything with a little bit better than what I had. I was going to go back to another hair salon but the lady that cut my hair was not there. They wasn't sure really when she was going to be back so I didn't get my haircut that day when I stopped at the other salon. Then my mom wanted to go to Walmart this is on a Sunday or a Monday I don't remember I think it was on a Sunday Saturday or Sunday I don't remember that for sure it was at the beginning of November like the first two second weekend November. I told her I desperately needed my haircut and we appreciated to the chair I told her I wanted to keep my lent in the back I don't know if I didn't explain it good enough she seemed like she know knew what I was telling her I wanted stand out a little bit in the front because the fridge from me trying to cut my hair was aggravating me well she proceeded to cut my hair I paid I cannot remember them out but it was well over I give her even $5 tip. About a week later when my hair was looked like it was you know growing out again I'm trying to calm it brush it that was when I really found out what she had done and I was not happy cuz the more it grew out the worst it got. She had cut more length off in the back of my hair it was shorter in the back like that I mean the lamp in the back cuz your bangs stop at your ears that's the front part your left is what's in the back I told her specifically that yes I knew some some needs to be cut off you know trend off but I I still don't know for sure what she did but she screwed my hair up all the way around. It was messed up in the front where my bangs were at where I had different lengths I tried to tell her that I needed some of it fanned out so I could brush it back it was a fair closet style. Well we went in there like a week or so ago and she was not there so I was complaining to the woman that was there it was an older woman she cut my mom's hair she done a very very good job she and I can't do not remember her name not now I don't I should have got her card but I got Ashley's and I think she was trying to cut my hair like hers cuz she had a weird haircut okay then I'm going to tell you right now that woman does not know how to cut hair that I know I was specific with what I wanted and you'll give it even close to a month my hair started going out it's a little bit and that was when I found out how screwed up it was and for the money I paid I will get a hold of corporate or someone else to complain even further because I had to go and pay another $25 almost $30 to get my hair even halfway decent looking like it is now and now but at least got my car coming back because she cut my hair in such a way that it was even I'm trying to go out a different way and not the way that I had it where it's got a natural wave and natural curl even that was gone now it's coming back because the other haircut and the guy that cut it he done a very very well very good job I still had to pay out extra money but anyhow actually in Mount Dora Florida inside of Walmart she cannot cut hair and does not need to be no manager she don't even need to be cut no hair look at her hairstyle for what it is yeah right okay so anyhow yeah Ashley Cosmo or whatever that last name is I can't hardly pronounce it but it's inside of the Pandora Walmart nowador Florida mountain Dora Florida mount Dora Florida thank you that's right her name is Ashley do not get your haircut by Ashley she will screw it up. That's the end of it.
Cut and sham
I tired calling, no one answered so I went to the web site and booked an appointment. Come into the store and I say I have a 3:30 appt. Mary, yes. What are we doing today, clip my ends and give me a bang. OK. That was the only conversation we had. The service I thought I booked was for 22.97. However, when I got to the register it’s no 83.97. Why…. Well natural hair cost more and we thermo curled (flat iron) your hair. If I would have been informed I would have said as I normally do , just cut the ends. I feel like I was cheated and no where on the web site or store does it specifically states all the so called extras. I want my money backed for this so called thermasmoo. I just assume washing blow drying and curl was part of the service I booked.
Work place harassment
I was left by myself at the salon before I ever received my license in the mail and I was still a stylist in training. My manager at the time Courtney Rendel didn’t show up for about two weeks. I had to learn and do haircuts by myself. No one came in and helped me for two weeks. Fast forward to now about 5 months later I finally put a work place harassment complaint in against my current manager Ladon Rendel (Courtney’s mom) and I am now limited on what I’m allowed to do. I am being told there are many people calling into HR and saying I’m not doing good on their hair. I am now restricted and being treated even worse than before. I am being treated unfair for sticking up for myself. If I’m not good and I am restricted on haircuts then how come 5 months ago when I started out I was left alone for two weeks as a stylist who was still waiting on my cosmetology license to come in. It doesn’t make sense. If anything me and my other coworkers have had to fix at least 10 of the managers haircuts. The manager says she can’t see well enough to do a bald fade, and 1 guard fade, she can’t see to do a wax, and she doesn’t know how to do bobs and other haircuts. She passes those onto me and other stylists. She herself even told me to train the new girl on haircuts. If I’m so bad at hair and am now being restricted then why am I training the new person? I have been out of school for 5 months. I’m new. Everyone messes up on haircuts but when I tell you I had four clients in one day (today 12-10-22) tell me they personally want me to keep doing there hair, that has got to tell you guys I’m not a bad stylist. Last week I had four requests who come to me regularly. If I’m as bad as they are telling you I am I wouldn’t have this many clients coming back to me. Another thing is if they are trying to fire me for these things I’ll go ahead and tell you what I know. Shannon Rendel voids off payments on her clients and tells them to pay her cash. She pockets the salons money. Another thing is she smokes weed on the clock and comes in smelling like marijuana and then proceeds to cut peoples hair. Ladon and Shannon both yell at me and discuss private matters in front of clients. I have plenty more to say so give me a call. If this is the type of management you want to be running your store then be aware about all the business you are about to lose. I’m not going down without a fight and I’m not going to keep allowing them to harass me into quitting. [protected] please give me a call.

Manager
I recently worked for St. Clairsville Ohio smart style. I was not trained on my position for stylist in training. The manager Jenn was not professional and very rude. She did not make a schedule or help me with anything for the pay check app. I asked her to help me, she then told me I needed to work four days in a row which I could not do and explain to her why. Told me not to come back, was screaming and harassing me all the way up to the parking lot. Would like to file for pain and suffering

Hair cut and color
Called for appointment. Was given 2:00 pm today and was seen about 2:35 only because I said something.
Asked for hair trim and color. Looked at color book. Saw the color I had last time and asked for it. Was to color the new growth and then comb through the other hair.
Did not happen. New growth and other hair did not match. Too much gold in the new growth. She ended up having to do the new growth over two more times.
Cost me $100 dollars. Smartstyle's website says colors approximately $67.00 and adult cut $19.00 She kept telling me how pretty it was because she knew she had messed up. I was so sick and tired of being in the chair for nearly 3 hours that I paid and left. Hair color too dark.
Had to come home and wash out so I could be presentable in the morning. Neighbor said it is not your color. Very disappointed and will not return to Smartstyle. Hair stylist making so many customers wait today.
She wanted me to also know that she does not charge I think it was police officer for cuts. Nice. Sweet and kind lady.

I feel very disrespected
My husband went in yesterday to the salon on Fairmont and the lady who cut his hair Katie gave him her personal cell phone number I don't see y u would do that If the stores number is on the card I feel that's very disrespectful I called up to the store and the lady not sure who she was advised me they give out their personal cell phone numbers totally very disrespectful who runs a business like that discussing

Bad color
I went to Smart Styles in Seneca SC on 10/5/22. I wanted a all over color. I previously had highlights and my roots were showing. And they were dark. My hair is blonde. The first stylist put the color on my hair and I did notice she did not bleach out or put a toner on it. So when she washed the color out where my roots were it was a brassy orange. I did address this with her 2 times. All she said c was I might have to come back in 2 to 3 weeks for another application. I was very unhappy. So the next morning I’m called and ask for the manager. She told me to come back in. She put a toner on my roots . But it still has a brassy color. Not as bad as the day before but it’s still there. I told the first stylist that my hair has red tones. I paid 80.00 for this service and still haven’t gotten what I wanted. I know this can be done I’ve had it done before. I just want the red out of my hair! And I do not want to go back to the one in Seneca. Can you please help me with this situation? Thank you
Service and Atttitude
I made an appointment with my local SmartStyle for a Silk Press for my daughter. When she arrived, the beautician told her that she did not have a silk press on the books but a flat iron. So we accepted the flat iron. She was so completely rude. The rudest we've been treated by a beautician. She used words like "What Did I Say" and said my daughter's hair was nappy and matted. She also said she needed to hurry because her new refrigerator was being delivered. The appointment was yesterday, and today my daughter has two scabs formed on her scalp from being burned.
She was also rude to another customer looking to get a haircut for his birthday. She turned him around.
Desired outcome: I would like a response as I sent an email yesterday right after the service. I also believe we should be refunded and the beautician should be held accountable.
Being lol and joked cause my husband had his leg removed
While the manager was cutting my hair professionally ,Wendy the employee said "lol I heard what happened to Richard. He had his leg cut off". The whole time that I was getting my hair cut she could not control her laughter. It upset me so much l got the shakes. I said I wish I could stop shaking. Then Wendy said... "yeah Gloria why are you shaking. "She would not stop making fun of something I had no control of. This was not acceptable so this is why I am complaining.

Wrong hair color
I had an appointment on 9/10/22 @1pm to get my hair colored. I showed the lady the picture of what I wanted (which I have included a picture of) and she said she could do it. She started on my hair bleaching it which stayed on my hair for like 3 hours. She stayed on her phone most of the time that she was suppose to be doing my hair and I would have to keep asking her if my hair needed to be rinsed or if it was ready for the next process. She also was taking pictures of the process without my knowledge. She finally finished my hair at 10:15pm and the outcome was nothing close to what I wanted her to do. I have also included a picture of the outcome. I was very disappointed and hurt bc my hair was ruined and is very burnt. She charged me $150 for something I didn’t even want. She pretty much done what she wanted to my hair. Now I am having to find someone that can fix what she messed up. I feel like if a customer is asking you to do something to their hair and shows you a picture of what they want that’s what should be done and not what they want to do. She also posted pictures of me on her personal page without my permission.
Desired outcome: I would like a refund because I was not satisfied and I’m going to have to pay someone else to fix my hair.
Color
My daughter went in for a Bayalage today 9-11-22 at 1pm. We visited 6777 Clinton way Knoxville and walked out at 5:14 pm. The stylist disregarded the pictures of the examples we had shown her and started doing her own thing. Not only did it take her an hour to get the foil in, she only allowed the last pieces she foiled to sit for 10 min if that before rinsing my daughter’s hair. Then she explained that it would look better after she used purple shampoo and toner. I calmly pointed out the places that stood out to me, and asked if she could fix them. She ended up trying to fix my daughter’s hair twice and each time it progressively worsened. I was still charged over $100 for an EXTREME disaster. I am appalled that I was even charged that much after a “discount “. I believe I should be reimbursed for not only the damage to my daughter’s hair but for the fact that we’ve still got to get it fixed!

I would appreciate a phone call.[protected] I have a walmart employee witness on how your associate treated me. I went into your establishment and no one was there. I looked around and your employee walked in. I asked if she could do a wax? Savanah (stylist) stated she could at 3:45. No clients were in your salon. I told her "thats ok". I returned to the checkout line with my daughter. Your employee Savanah came out to the checkout and smarted off to me. I have a witness that works at walmart. I later called and asked for a number for coperate and Savanah stated she could not give out that information.
