My name is Jackson C. Obert, [protected]. E-mail, [protected]@aol.com. I have a 2010 Ford F150 STX 4.6L. I needed an alternator. The clerk sold me an alternator, supposedly for my truck. The lights started acting up after the new alternator was put in. Pulsing lights then battery light comes on. Purchased alternator on 1-16-2022. Invoice number [protected]. Went back to store they checked alternator and battery and said they were fine. Went to my mechanic, same results but said the alternator may be bad off and on and to get a replacement. When I went back the new clerk checked and said I was sold the wrong alternator. I got one for a 5.4L engine with a CD changer at 150 amps. I needed an alternator for a 4.6L engine with no CD changer and 135 AMPS. The alternator I had was not talking to the trucks computer so my battery was not being charged, now dead battery. Had to get jumped off to get home. Used daughters car to go back and forth to get correct alternator, when it came in, and buy a new battery. All day affair.
Desired outcome: Do not believe I should have to pay for the battery, invoice # [protected]. wrong alternator caused battery to go bad.
It says Resolved. What was resolved. No answer about complaint. Sold me the wrong alternator for my truck. Battery would not charge, used it up till it was dead. Got correct alternator, and then had to buy a new battery. Clerk was told everything about my truck and still pulled the only alternator off shelf for me. For a F150, 5.4L engine, 150 amp w/CD changer. My truck is 4.6L engine, no CD changer and uses a 135 amp alternator. Just wanted to make a sale. Spent all day fixing his screw up, chasing down the correct alternator, getting jumped off to get home. Back and forth to get a battery I should not have had to buy. Train your employees. Good clerk looked up correct alternator and had it moved from other store for me. Again, what was resolved. I have heard nothing from the store, or from O'Reilly Auto parts. offil100@aol.com
