Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa unable to de-activate sms roaming

I returned from australia on 12 september at 16h00. When I landed at or tambo, I deactivated sms roaming, but this was not successfully. Until sunday I tried many times, unsuccessfully, so my phone is practically useless since I cannot take or make phonecalls! I phoned nashuamobile, my sp, who indicated that mtn has many many network and billing system problems! Clearly the stupid mtn shareholders think mtn rocks, because their shareprice just goes up all the time! When behind the scenes they seem to be truly pathetic to provide a first-world service!

Mtn when will you fix your problems! You are now forcing me to switch to vodacom!

I cannot deactivate SMS roaming and MTN also cannot since I came back from overseas. Have been to 2 stores (Midrand and Centurion) after 1 hour on 173 and talking to the technical centre. They don't have a solution!? They are going to "escalate it" since Friday (10/7/15) The problem seems to the fact that it is a "pay as you go" phone!

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa money deducted from my prepaid account without any reason

Last week, probably round the 4th of september, I check my cell balance and it stated 8.51 where I expected it to be over r20. I was disappointed, but carried on with life.

Then wednesday (9th) I check my balance again and it was r6.51 and I know I made no calls and only 1 sms, but that was a bundle and shouldn't be charged. So I called the call centre (173) and a lady told me they are experiencing a problem with the system and that it is being investigated and my money will be returned.

Friday (11th) my balance is down to r2.51. I definitely made no calls or smss. So I call 173 again. This time a guy answered and said he is putting in some or other request, I must call again later.

So this morning (12th) I called again and a lady said their system is not up to date, I must call this afternoon again. Getting very frustrated, I told her that i'm going to report this to icasa and she replied 'you are most welcome to do that, sir' and hung up. I'm not impressed with that, but the truth is, I have no idea where to start, so i'm coming to hellopeter for help.

It must be some subscription, but i've never sms'd any short numbers and the phone can't do wap and all the fancy stuff.

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa payment arranged and still disconnected

Due to a bit of a cashflow problem I phoned and made a payment arrangement to avoid being disconnected. I reveive a letter with the payment arrangement so I think everything is under control. My phone gets suspended, I phone 808 and lo and behold no payment arrangement on the system. I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM MTN WITH THE DETAILS AND THE AGREEMENT. What is happening at MTN?

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa phone keeps on coming back faulty after repairs

My Nokia E66 was send in for repairs to the sliding function. The phone came back with the cover broken. I send it back to be fixed. When the phone came back, the bottom keypad lights were no longer working. I said to them that I can’t send it back yet again as it is a business phone that I use for business. If something go wrong again I will send it back. All went well until one day while working on it I noticed a crack inside the phone screen. After much fight’s of who is at fault, I paid for replacing the screen. But yet again when the phone came back it was faulty. And again I send it back to replace the outside cover that was damaged. The phone came back and you won’t believe it... The phone came back yet again with the camera now being faulty. MTN informed me that it will take max 2 days to fix and return my phone back to me. It’s now 8 working days and still counting. In the last 3 months I had the phone for 5 days. They were fast to demand me to pay for repairs but what about me paying for 3 months subscription without the phone?

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa 3g bandwidth monitor is not working

I have been asking MTN for for 4 weeks now and this problem has still not been sorted out..

The MTN 3G bandwidth monitor has not been working for more than 4 weeks now so how the hell am I supposed to know how much bandwidth I have left. Of course MTN doesn; care because they are just going to charge me R1.20 a meg if my bandwidth runs out.

It's disgusting!

When is the bandwidth monitor going to be fixed?

Also how can a billion dollar company not have an online bandwidth monitor? Why do i have to take out my sim card from the 3g card put it in a phone and dial for my bandwidth. Pathetic! I mean to not be able to log onto a website to do this is complete rubbish! Even worse they don't have an sms service either.

I may have to switch to Vodacom as at least they have online bandwidth checking..

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa received only mtn calls, other phone disconnected

I received two phones, the one number was a port from Vodacom to Mtn and the other one was an excisting MTN number. I can only receive MTN calls on the one thats ported, all the other calls are still send to the old 'phone or number' Called numerous times again without any luck! The other phone we wanted to keep the number for life, called fot activation to keep old MTN number, now its blocked and we can't use the phone ! Called numerous times again, MTN CALL CENTRE said it's my problem and I must solve the first problem with Vodacom. If I know about all this problems I would definetaly not have used MTN. Phone was activated on August 29. I used my Vodacom phone at that time, and airtime was deducted from the new MTN PHONE while I still have some time on my Vodacom phone. It seems that they activate my phone at MTN while it's not cancelled at Vodacom yet!

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa I don't know which word to use to describe their incompetence

I have a cellphone acc with mtn & my acc was handed over to their legal department (Dccm) after a made a payment. When I called to find out if the payment was recieved I was told my acc is been handed over & if I want it reinstated, I must pay a certain amount of money, I paid that money the following day which was on the 250708 & when I called their legal dertment on monday that payment was recieved & they promised to reinstae my acc by the 30 & their promise was kept. The past saturday 290809 I went to take a loan & my loan was declined because my credit report shows the arrears on the acc... & this is affecting my credit profile, i've sent a dozen of emails regarding this, no one ever got back to me, I called in a few times, they keep telling me to fax a deposit slip, I faxed 3 times to different people & no one has been able to assist me. The word to describe mtn's service is not yet discovered, I don't know which word to use to describe their incompetence.

Ek het 'n kontrak by mtn uitgeneem vir 'n laptop waarby die advertensie wat geplaas was aandui dat die laptop uitkom met die volgende ekstra's +microsoft office + anti virus. Na 'n maand veskyn daar popups op my skerm wat aandui dat die laptop slegs uitgereik is met "trial versions". Mtn mislei die verbruiker en plaas mens onder die indruk dat die kontrak / laptop wel oor die funksies beskik! Ek is nog in besit van die advertensies uitgereik deur mtn. Dis is niks anders as skelm nie!

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa contract upgrade, but nobody responds follow up

I first called MTN direct to upgrade my contract for a particular phone. I was then directed to another department, and then someone was supposed to get back to me, they never did. Then I went to a shop, and they were going to get get the specific phone in and call me. They never did and the special past. I called a call-centre again, and requested that someone makes a plan so I can get the special. I ended speaking to a supervisor, who told me the special was finished. I told them they need to take responsibilty for the bad service, which caused me to miss the special and he quite nicely said he wouldn't, very rude and sarcastic. I called the HO and requested a manager to call me. He did, and advised he will follow-up, he never got back to. (I'm leaving a lot out). Another special came up, and I went to Canal Walk, filled in the forms, and was told, she will call me when the stock arrives, a month had passed and nobody called. I applied on-line to upgrade, it's been approx 2 weeks now, and noboady has come back. WHATS UP with MTN, do they not want my business. I just think they have bad service across the board. I even had problems with MTN banking with a faulty system?

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa airtime stolen by mtn and f* service

I am sick of the ****ing lack of service from MTN.I have spoken to 12 (not exaggerating here) people by now and nobody is giving me resolution.Something went wrong with your airtime billing and you gave large amounts of airtime to people by mistake.I was one of them.I left my phone and did not use it as I knew it was a mistake and resorted to using my other contract.You fixed the mistake and removed the airtime but removed my original airtime as well.I spoke to how many different agents and they are either all ****ing stupid or too ****ing lazy to do anything.it has been a month now and i have been sitting with no airtime because you have taken it away for your stupid ****ing mistake.I see now that my new billing date has passed and i'm supposed to get another R300 airtime on the 26th of every month due to my topup contract and my airtime still reflects R0.My other contract number was updated with airtime and my databundle but this number has not been.I held on for 1 hour and twenty minutes to get through to someone and eventually put down .how about some ****ing service.I want my ****ing monthly airtime now and I want my ****ing airtime back that you wrongly took away.

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa mtn is the worst network ever I would not even recommend it to anyone to subscribe to it

I have had the worst service ever from MTN, I called this morning trying to find out why is my service suspended cause I did not receive any notication of that and I am not behind on payments. Upon calling the call centre a lady by the name of Ntombi assisted me she was very rude and not helpful at all. I asked her what can I do to fix my line she said I quote 'whatever mam either way there is nothing you can do except to wait until the 31. So currently MTN is the worst network ever I would not even recommend it to anyone to subscribe to it. Its either they upgrade their serivce levels or get rid ogf their call centre agents.

There is a system that stole my air time, ijust got an sms from them and about r 173.00 was billed, I dont know how to get back my money, I also cannot find the company who did it, I blame mtn for giving this company my deatails, they must sort this thing out because I cannot buy air time, I am afraid it will be gone

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa account query

I have an account query outstanding from October 2009. Every time I call to query it, I get told 'it has been escalated' and 'call back after 21 days. Well, how many times will it get 'escalated'. 21 DAYS IS 21 DAYS! If it happened in my company, i would have been FIRED in December 2009. I have emailed MTN twice via their MTNSP website to cancel my contract and still I have had no correspondence from them. I WANT ACTION OR ICASA WILL REACT ON MY BEHALF! Refer to my hellopeter.com posting on 4th February 2010 and another one today. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH MTN! WAKE UP PLEASE, SLEEP IN YOUR BED AT NIGHT NOT AT WORK! I am passed the pissed off stage now!

Account no: Z0002081, constant problem with this account at MTN and don't get any response or feedback as to the problem on this account every month they cut the phone between the 20th - 28th each month then this account is activated only on the 8th of the new month so during that time frame the company is being billed for calls that cant be made during such time, and note that this account is going of by debit order.

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa they stole my money

I just put money on my debt rush card on June 4th and i bought one thing i should have had 320.40 on my card i called my card and they told me of this mtn comunnications that took 49.99 off my card. im disabled and can't work ever. they took the little bit of money i had left for the month what am i suppose to do for bills I WANT MY MONEY BACK. i didn't order anything and they took it Give it back its not yours to take i need that money for my medication.

t care if they take your money or not.

Mtn are fraudsters, they keep sending messages of their fake 2010 promo to innocent and unsuspecting Nigerian like my humble self thereby deducting our money with promises of "you are about to qualify for tonights winner" and the worst of all is that our corrupt and dishonest regulatory body (NCC) are in connivance with mtn to further defraud us Nigerians. Mtn, pls. stop sending me this kind of messages or else i will destroy my sim cand and swicth to another network. period. My No. is [protected].

I have been overcharge on my MTN SA accounts since i upgraded in Oct 2008 to a MTN 100 Subscription. I am suppose to receive R100 value of calls off peak each month but i only receive a few calls @ R0.00 value and the rest of the calls they bill me for. Every month i have to phone them to receive a credit. Now i decided not to pay the Call Charges until they credit me, but now my calls has been suspended. I am so fedup with MTN! I am still waiting for a credit on my bill dated 11/3/2010 and 11/4/2010!

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa suspended account

Account no: a2759200
My internet service has been suspended from april 17th, 2010, without any notice. The monthly instalment of r211 is paid by debit order. The debit order for feb 2010 was not offered by mtnsp to the bank, thus it was not deducted. On march 1st, r211 was deducted and april 1st, r422, probably for the february payment that was not deducted. I phoned with my pay-as-you-go cellphone, to mtnsp's customer care service, but r210 airtime later, no answer. Why do they give a customer care service's contact details, if the service does not excist. I also send them an e-mail on april 23rd from a family's e-mail, which they confirmed has received it, but still no solution to the problem and no internet. Luckily my contract expires in 3 months time and I definetly won't renew it. One cannot even rate their service, because there is no service. Surely I won't recommend anybody to make use of mtnsp.

I am quite feddup by now, I have no idea where to go to anymore. They suspend me weekly, while in contact with their Legal accounts department. I give them all the problems with only an answer as to an amount that I am outstanding... the problem be that I asked them where that amount comes from, they send me a statement where they overcharged me last year and or 2 months I cannot make out what they did. I pay my account exactly according to my statements... They don't give me feedback on the problem, but just suspend me! I cannot even phone MTN from my phone, so how do I clear up the mess?

I wont renew my contract with mtn as well. Their service is pathetic. I have the same problem with them and they dont do anything from their side to resolve it. Im going to them tomorrow again.

At MTN u say a phone has if a phone has problem I can bring it back for repairs but I took to MTN store the papers did not tell me anything about R350 for despetch or delivery then I call after the time they said I must for then they tell me they detected water damager to repair its r1500 The phone itself cost a R1000 if you buy it so how can I pay more that and I know my phone has never had a swim so I don't know what to do.i am busy paying a phone MTN has, so when I told them to not repair it then they tell me about R350's

I have been an MTN client for 10 years and have not been able to receive a decent signal for most of that time, I used to live in Henley on Klip where the signal was so week I had to make of my calls to cell phones had to be made from a landline, I then moved to Brackendowns which is about 15 kilometers from the centre of Johannesburg and my signal is even worse.I have now decided to cancel my contract which expires on the 5th of October.

1. i am sick and tired of mtn too!
2. firstly, my contrct was expired on 5jun2010, i informed them from mtnsp one month beforre. but they still don't want to cancel it for me.
3. my contrct is R30/month, usually i pay about R50. but from FEB2010, they deducted more than R160. i complained to them from mtnsp, but no any reply!
4. the eservice of mtn is so poor.

Mobile Telephone Networks [MTN] South Africa stealing my money

As you will see from the email pasted below all the times I have tried to contact mtnsp for a refund on my account. Even though I cancelled my contract I will still been changed more than 8 months later!

This is lee-ann werner again and I am very unhappy. I would like to know whom I can claim to about the service I have received from mtn sp (Please note not from your store which have been amazing). I have just been online to check my bank account whch I have not been able to do for months and noted that mtn sp is still taking r162 off my account each month even though I have given notice and only have one account which should be in the region of r70 per month. I have instead inctructed my bank to stop the payment and refused to make any further payments to mtn sp until I receive a refund.

Please consider this urgent! As now mtn sp has effectively stolen in the region of r800 from me and if this is not sorted I will be approaching the obudsmen to sort this out and will seek legal action.

As per our conversation many times before & hellip;

I have called our retentions department with regards to you contract, the reference number that you have given me ([protected]) was clearly a note to cancel your contract, however it was not done as they did not receive all the documents in time at that time, and when they did receive the paper work it was for some reason not updated on the system

It now has been updated and they have put an immediate cancelation on the contract, I spoke to lady by the name of shaleen and she put a note on the system, she also requested a re-imbursements for the last 3 months as the contract was to end on the 23-june - 2009 on cell number [protected] however the cell number [protected] is not due to terminate yet it only expires on the 08-may-2010 so you will have to e-mail them as you did the last time, but one month before the time you can also send to the e-mail so I can trace up on it for you

Your reff number for the cancelled line and re-imbursement is # [protected]
